MSM Deli looks like crap but the sandwiches really are great. I always get my sandwich to go since the inside isn't really a nice place to eat. But it's a deli, so just get your sandwich to go and be happy! I've tried many of the sandwiches and they are all good. Mike's Deluxe, Deli Club, the BBC, Pocket of Miracles...I'd recommend any of them. And it really is one of the best places to buy beer in Tacoma. Found this place based on yelp reviews, as I'm new to he area and needed a takeout place during a work lunch break. Although the area seemed a bit "sketchy", the clientele told a different story, and the place is obviously very popular. I ordered the Club minus the bacon (which you may think would make it boring), but it was pretty great. All ingredients were very fresh, and they don't skimp on ingredients. My office usually gets MSM cold cuts whenever we have a low key meeting or potluck. I've regularly tried the turkey, ham and roast beef cuts and they are all okay. Just your normal lettuce, tomato, mayo, cheese and meat over french bread. Their RB cut is the best out of the three. Average at best. read more

Can I just say that it's so nice how well the staff here treats the homeless patrons (free donuts if they mention MSM to people on the street!) K and I absolutely love MSM Deli. The place is small, more of a convenience store than a restaurant, so we always called in our orders and are them at home. The club is especially delicious and worth a try. Their French bread is pillow soft on the inside with a firm outer layer. One large sandwich can easily be made into two or even three meals. I went here and it was uninspiring and overpriced, didn't get my money's worth at all. I miss the tru sandwiches from back East that we call grinders, they're so awesome. But this place.... They make the best sandwiches in Tacoma! SOOOOOOO good! I think I've tried every single one; the American with no mayo is my fav! I'm not usually a fan of bologna but somehow it tastes so good on this sandwich. The meatball is pretty good too! Lots of cheese on this one. There is an art to making a wonderful sandwich. I've not yet mastered it, but I've learned that it is all about balance and portions. MSM deli, though it is a hole in the wall/ liquor store, has mastered the craft. I love the turkey with havarti on a roll with sprouts, olives, and the works. I have many great memories with MSM sandwiches and miss the place dearly. Though the deli is across town from my parent's house, I always make a trip to MSM when I visit. Worth it! read more

Great sandwich joint! This place has just the right amount of options for sandwiches, delicious soups, friendly staff, and a huge drink selection. It's the kind of neighborhood deli you'd find back east without the attitude :-) ask for the blue menus for detailed sandwich descriptions or just make your own. This is really the only place in Tacoma to get a deli-style sandwich. Nowhere else even compares for "cold" sandwiches. I've had most things on the menu, and they are all good. I stay away from the sandwiches that they throw on the grill because they always tend to be very... squished. It's not a panini, guys, you don't need to flatten it. The only reason I can't give them five stars is because I have some lingering concerns over their hygiene. It could be a coincidence, but 4 out of 5 visits, I experience a bit of "intestinal distress" a few hours later. But hey, these sandwiches are worth it. read more

This place literally makes the best sandwiches in all of Tacoma, at reasonable prices. I've been coming here with my dad since I was in the first grade and the place is still awesome. Only thing is, I think they may need to expand or get a bigger location because it gets packed with people waiting for their sandwiches and tends to get confusing with who's waiting or who's in line. read more

The best'is' in the TAC.. been a fan since 2000; all i get is... wait i get everything.. but 2 in particular.... the meatball and mikes deluxe!!! mikes deluxe hot that is... hold the onions and mustard add the avacado sauce.. too good!!! like its not even mouth watering.. you're drooling already as soon as you have it in front of you.. LOL.. you get any kind of crazy beer too.. (not-fo-free) they have hella different kinds, serious!, but it is a real down to earth spot.. even the blue and whites go there for lunch... im assuming they said screw the coffee and donuts... lets go to mikes.. cause honestly ive never tasted a real fresh (better than subway), hot (better than quizynosy) sandwich.. they can make any hot sandwich if ya request it... french dip is really good as well.. but anyhow.. that is my 2 cents... MSM Deli is so low key. They've got a thorough selection of sandwiches, but I opted to get the deli rueben to go. Unfortunately, by the time I ate it, it wasn't fresh off the oven anymore, so it was a little cold. But, that's not MSM Deli's fault. I really like going here. The sandwiches have been consistently good, only one time have I had a bad experience with the bread being too dry and hard. But all of the other times, it has been great. I don't know if it was the sandwich I ordered or that they were off that day or what but I've had much better at almost any chain sub place. Make sure you call ahead or be prepared to wait. The customers in the pre-order line are helped 1st, then who over is on the phone, then the regular customer at the counter. I ordered an Italian cold cut. It had thick slices of meat and a small amount of sauce but was really just okay at best. I don't get the hype and will probably not return unless a friend insists and also pays for mine. read more

Spending time with the brother and he said this place was a must visit. That's all I needed to hear. It is apparently where all the "cool" college kids hang out. It kinda reminds me of Wisemillers near Georgetown University in DC. However, while my brother continued to rave, I got the MSM staple - the Mike's Deluxe. It was a 9" French Roll with Roast Beef, Turkey, Ham, Swiss & Cheddar, Lettuce, Sprouts, Onions, Tomatoes, Pickles, Mustard and Mayonnaise. I felt that the sandwich was just OK. It was definitely large (big enough for $6.99). However, while the bread was fresh meat was cut in the store, the cheese felt bland and cheaply store-bought. It was definitely filling, but just A-OK in my book. There were numerous other places I added to my list in the Tacoma area, so I'm not sure I will be back next time (unless my brother is buying). read more

Just stopped in for a gyro and it was very tasty. The beef-lamb was tender and tasty. The tzatziki sauce was nice and they also put a lightly spiced red sauce on it also. I will be returning for more especially the sandwiches. read more
