The bread was toasted and came with a good amount of meat with fresh lettuce, tomatoes and onions. Potato salad side was decent but the other side, some kind of vege slaw, was frankly not fresh and terrible. Also came with a pickle. With a bottle water, it came to $34 before tip. Bit high but I suppose it's on par with New York prices. The sandwiches were not world beating but nonetheless solid and delicious. I'm so annoyed. A year ago I came here and ordered a chicken salad on everything, lettuce, tomato, onion. It was so delicious. Moist and flavorful chicken, crisp vegetables, a fresh, chewy bagel with plenty of seasoning. Well something's changed, and not for the better. I just ordered another chicken salad, lettuce, tomato, onion, on a whole wheat everything. The chicken salad is dry (you can even see the dried out parts on top that show that it's obviously been hanging out in a fridge case for too long. The bagel has barely any seasoning, and is also kind of dry and too chewy, like that's been sitting out too long too. The tomato is mushy, like it was accidentally frozen. And they forgot my onion! Considering that it's an extra $0.50 for EACH of lettuce and onion and $0.75 for the tomato - what gives? (Was it always extra like that for each a la carte topping?? I'm feeling really nickel and dimed.) Walk a few more blocks south and get Brooklyn Bagel instead. read more

Went to Murray's for a quick bagel toasted with butter and an iced coffee around 7 am. I've been to Murray's before at peak times and it takes forever to get your order. I was surprised to notice that even when you are the only person in there that it still takes a while (given that there's 6 people behind the counter). This however isn't why I'm giving Murray's a 1 star. While I was waiting for my bagel and coffee, I watched a employee drop two large bags of mixed bagels on the floor. The bagels spilled on the ground where the employees walk with their dirty shoes. I then proceeded to watch said employee, and another, pick them up and put them back in the bags and not directly in the trash. This is absolutely disgusting. Truly shocked to have seen such a disregard for any sort of health standards. Shame on you. read more

Food is very good. I've been here a couple times and they never skimp on what you order and the bagels are delicious. I usually order the BECA bagel breakfast sandwich Service is not so good - the man at the counter was very flustered and rude to costumers. People who placed an online order we not being helped or given their food in a timely manor - so it just sat on the counter for an extended period of time. As far as ambiance, I wouldn't pick to eat there since it feels so high stress - I'd take it to go. read more

This was the first place I went to after landing in NYC and it couldn't have been a better welcome to the city. The long line (which moved quickly!) makes perfect sense to me because these bagels were delicious. I ordered the club on everything bagel and it had so much meat, but the bagel was also so soft and flavorful; really just a perfect sandwich. We ordered this in for breakfast and the delivery process was seamless. In terms of our order, we got the onion bagel with scallion cream cheese, pumpernickel bagel with sundries tomato cream cheese and chocolate chip bagel. Now the bagels were huge in size, about double of a typical bagel, the texture was good and the amount of cream cheese was generous. While it was a good solid bagel, it wasn't the best I've had in the city. As for the muffin, it was mediocre at best. All in all, prices were decent and the bagels (not the muffins) were good, though there are better places in the city to explore! read more

Before walking into this place, I had to stop by a Starbucks for a grande because Murray's coffee is horse urine. That said, their bagels are pretty decent, especially toasted. And I must admit, their Scottish salmon is off the hook. Fine, they've earned an extra star for that. For some reason, my order caused massive confusion and quite a scene: plain bagel, cream cheese, Scottish salmon, and pastrami salmon. Figured I'd customize it a bit with a double dose of salmon. The cashier didn't know what to do and had to consult with the guy who handles the bagels. Before long, three of the workers formed a huddle to address this challenge. As the line of New Yorkers grew behind me, the team eventually resolved the issue and said it would cost extra. I said fine. By then, they had already forgotten the rest of my order, forcing me to repeat it a couple more times. To be exact, "extra" meant $11.95 extra for the pastrami salmon. This is fine. But when I got my bagel, it came with a measly few slices of pastrami salmon as the upper layer. The whole thing ended up costing about $25. I called the bagel handler out on this blatant ripoff, and he gave me a container of pastrami on the side, as he should have done initially. He handed it to me with a bit of attitude and an annoyed look on his face, as if he's trying to get rid of a beggar. While I do appreciate him making things right, I don't like the fact that I had to confront him in order to get what I paid for. I could've done without the attitude, too. read more

*Delivery review* I just had delivery from here as I'm trying to diversify my bagel places. This was one of the worst I've had so far. This review is strictly based off the quality of food. I ordered a plain bagel with sun-dried tomato and garlic cream cheese with added jalapeños toasted. The bagel came and was extremely hard but didn't seem toasted. The bagel was cold, but that happens sometimes with delivery, so I won't be too upset with that. The cream cheese itself was off. Not only was it very sparingly placed between the two bagel halves but the taste itself was not quite right. I'm not sure if the cream cheese had gone bad, but I couldn't eat it. Also, I wish they specified that the jalapeños were not fresh, but pickled instead. This additionally left an overwhelming vinegar aftertaste in my mouth after only one bite. Very unappealing. I had also ordered a macaroon, apricot rugelach and coffee to meet delivery. The rugelach was just ok, it fell apart completely in my hand before I even took a bite. The only item I actually liked was the cranberry macaroon. It had a nice flavor and was just the right amount of sweetness. The coffee was straight up gross and I poured it out. It had also spilled a bunch during transit. I do appreciate them bagging up my coffee so it only spilled on itself however my coffee was swimming by the time it reached me. Overall, I was pretty disappointed in this delivery. I think for now I'll stick to my local bodega coffee and bagel. 2/5 read more

I went in today to pick up a pumpernickel bagel, blueberry cream cheese, and a bag of coffee (medium grind). The guy said they are all the same grind. Open my order at home, and I have plain cream cheese and a bag of coffee beans. Call them up, and her answers were, you asked for the medium blend (No, I didn't, I asked for "Fast Forward," the actual name of the coffee, and I show the photo of it on my phone), and you were only charged for plain cream cheese. But I asked for blueberry cream cheese! Do the two even sound similar?!! So basically, she said I could bring the coffee back for a refund, or they would grind it for me whenever you are ready. I should've read the reviews before going. The menu is confusing - they keep talking about sandwiches on the wall. I wish they would call them Bagels. I just don't think of a bagel as a sandwich but ok. They've also got a range of cream cheese flavours but you wouldn't be able to tell based on the menu on the wall. It just really isn't well laid out for the customer. So I ordered an onion bagel with lox and plain cream cheese. The bagel itself had good texture, but was WAY too salty (I could honestly say I think they put a whole tsp of salt into each bagel. It wasn't even the fish that was salty, it was the bagel itself. And I'm not too salt sensitive but this had me running for water... So I half ate the bagel, left the rest and ate the fish. A shame! The second bagel I tried was supposed to be cinnamon raisin with strawberry cream cheese. Well they got the strawberry cream cheese part right. And put it on a poppyseed bagel instead. Like who would want strawberry cream cheese on poppy? Really? Weird. The staff were nice that took the order. But clearly someone can't tell a poppyseed from a raisin! Good bagels. The best in New York? No. The worst? Definitely not. I ordered a toasted sesame bagel with sun-dried tomato and roasted garlic cream cheese. My wife got a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel with plain tofu cream cheese. When I got my order, instead of a sesame bagel, I was given a garlic bagel. While I love garlic bagels, I was in the mood for sesame. Took it back to the register and they quickly re-made it the right way without any hassle and let me keep the one they screwed up (my daughter enjoyed that one when we met her at the Starbucks Roastery later that evening). Murray's is an authentic New York bagel operation. I respect their huge selection of lox preparations and schmears. They got my order right and the wait wasn't too long. But...I didn't love the bagel. Partly, I think their bagels are on the sweet side, which is a thing a lot of bagel shops do. Maybe the issue was that the bagel was not also salty - I got an everything bagel, and it seems like their "everything" does not include salt. The texture was good, though. Another reason I simply cannot give a fifth star is because they are unnecessarily packing every order in a plastic bag! What the heck? A couple of bagels in a paper bag do not need an over-bag. Finally, some ordering advice: ask them for "just a little cream cheese" unless you want to eat a whole brick of it. Like many places, they over-apply, but unlike other places, they will honor your request that they go easy on the schmear. read more

This was an underwhelming experience. I came here since I had never been to this place after going for a long run on the weekend. The line was pretty long which usually indicates the food is pretty good, right? Not really. I ordered an egg and bacon whole wheat bagel.
