    Dinner Sushi Nigiri
    Mai T.

To be honest, I initially felt like this place was a ghost kitchen that happened to have a few tables to sit in. The place is very bare, no decor. There is an ipad that you place your order and someone brings out your food. While the staff stays mostly in the kitchen area, they were very cordial when they brought the food out. My nigiri dinner came out on a simple tray with no fancy garnishes. However, the fish was surprisingly good. The tuna, hamachi and salmon tasted fresh and the sushi rice underneath was really soft and sweet. If you want no frills and just quality sushi for the price, this place would fit the bill. Just pass on the shrimp tempura (not their best item).

Musashi's has high quality sashimi (Hamachi Kama was also excellent) and overall, the food was delicious. The staff were welcoming and explained how we can order the food via the kiosk for dine-in. The ambiance was bright, clean, but rather plain. It almost feels like they made a choice not to decorate or have any traditional Japanese sushi restaurant ambiance. If you came here the first time, you may think this is a ghost kitchen-type restaurant. Regardless, I like the sashimi here so I will definitely come back in the future.

Very unassuming restaurant from the front and inside. Sushi was amazing. Reasonable prices and quick service. Would highly recommend the sushi by the piece. Very fresh and delicious and nice presentation. Would definitely come back again.

The Best Weeknight Value in Mission Viejo: My New Favorite Roll…read more We've been coming to Samurai Sushi for years, and while it wasn't always my absolute first choice for high-end sushi, it has recently become our regular staple. Between the convenience of being the closest spot to our house and finding a new "go-to" menu item, it's hard to beat for a local family dinner. The "5-Star" Discovery: The Baja Roll I usually rate the general quality here around a 4/5, but I recently asked the server for his recommendation, and he pointed me toward the Baja Roll. That roll is a game-changer--a total 5/5. It's officially my new favorite, and having a specific "crave-able" roll has made me want to visit much more often. Perfect for the Weekly Family Routine If you have kids who happen to request sushi once a week, this is the most logical spot in Mission Viejo. Their combination meal allows you to choose three items and includes miso soup and a salad. It's the perfect way to feed the family without a massive bill. We try to stick to Monday through Thursday for the Buy One, Get One 1/2 Off deal. It's a huge draw for locals, so the restaurant is usually packed and lively on weeknights. The staff here is excellent; they are incredibly welcoming and get to know your face quickly, which adds a nice neighborhood feel to every visit. The Verdict The only reason I'm knocking off one star is that the dining area is a bit dated. I'd love to see the space get a little more "TLC" with some updates and a deeper cleaning. However, if you are looking for a budget-friendly, local weeknight choice that is fast and friendly, Samurai Sushi is a winner. Just do yourself a favor and order the Baja Roll!

I initially reached out about reserving a table for 40+ people during a basketball tournament weekend and was told the manager would contact me back. Sure enough, she called promptly to confirm everything for our Saturday dinner reservation. The entire process was seamless and incredibly easy, especially considering this was a larger-than-normal party. Taizy handled everything professionally. She seamlessly added the extra guests without hesitation. Her only request was that we send over everyone's food orders ahead of time so the kitchen could prepare and ensure nobody had to wait too long. And wow -- they absolutely delivered. Every single order came out accurately and in a very timely fashion. No mistakes, no confusion, and the service was impeccable from start to finish. The servers were organized, attentive, and handled a very large group with ease. Service was truly 10/10. One of the reasons I chose Kin Sushi for a large group dinner was because the menu truly has something for everyone -- udon, sushi rolls, vegetarian rolls, bento boxes, chirashi, sashimi, and something for everyone. They even had Thai iced tea, which isn't normally something in you have in a Japanese restaurant. Parking was very easy, which is always appreciated when coordinating a large party, and there's a restroom conveniently located in the back. I'm beyond grateful for how well they handled our group, and I would absolutely return here again for future team dinners or large gatherings. Highly recommend!

Our server was very attentive and accommodating at the beginning, but when we brought to her attention that the salad which was served with the meal was wilted and rotten, she absolutely did nothing but will let the kitchen staff know. In addition, the rice was probably a day old and clumpy that none of us could finish it. Bento protein portions are small especially for the salmon. Ginger and wasabi was offered as an option when sushi was ordered. No apologies and nothing was comped from our bill.

I've had lunch here twice now since my office is nearby, and after searching for the past year for a go-to spot, I can confidently say I've found it. The space is clean, welcoming, and comfortable, exactly what you want when you're stepping out for a quick but satisfying lunch. The food? Consistently delicious. The sashimi is fresh and clean, with that perfect melt-in-your-mouth quality. The chicken teriyaki is also very good, flavorful, tender, and generously portioned. And the lunch combo is the real standout: about $14 gets you your entrée plus miso soup, salad, and rice. In this area, that price simply can't be beat. On top of that, sushi chef Luke is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Great service makes a big difference, and he absolutely delivers. It's clear they care about both the food and the customer experience. Amazing value, fresh food, friendly service ! We need more places like this. It was a Friday night and surprisingly we were sat pretty quick. Started with edamame and they were very good and presented nicely. The California roll wasn't anything to write home about but they were large. The crunch roll was one of my favorite I have ever had but a tad on the sweet side. I liked that it wasn't too crunchy like some rolls are. It is surgical in its layers of crunch. Another roll I liked was the dragon roll. The rolls are on the larger side which is good but they match the price. The Tonkotsu ramen was pretty bland so I recommend adding some spice or sauce to spruce up the broth but the ingredients were all tasty. Overall it's a decent place to get sushi. Service was excellent and quick and they always checked on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Worth checking out if you are close by but I was neither super impressed nor upset we ate there either.

FYI -- no photos because we were busy with a cranky toddler. First, the service was genuinely great. The sweetest lady helped us with the menu and served our food, and we really appreciated her kindness. We were also given complimentary edamame, which was thoughtful, although it was bland, dry, and cold -- almost like it had been sitting in the fridge for a while. Since it was complimentary, we didn't think too much of it. For the mains, we ordered the beef teriyaki and chicken teriyaki bento specials. Unfortunately, both proteins were sliced extremely thin. The chicken especially had a jerky-like texture, and both the chicken and beef lacked flavor. After reading other reviews, they had similar experience. The teriyaki sauce itself was also pretty bland. The tempura was okay, but the tempura dipping sauce tasted watered down and lacked the usual savory depth you'd expect. The one standout was the roll topped with salmon and avocado with spicy tuna inside. It was presented beautifully and tasted fresh and well-balanced. Based on this, I honestly think rolls are what they do best. I really hope they improve the preparation and seasoning of the chicken and beef because it was a major turnoff -- and this is coming from someone who eats pretty much everything. It's hard to justify paying around $22 for a bento when the main protein feels flavorless and insubstantial. With so many good Japanese resto in Lake Forest, I would skip this until the proteins are fixed.
