We've been eating the tasty food here for about 40 years. The staff were very helpful and accommodated my dining request. It has a lovely dining room and the flowers in the garden were lovely! But I don't believe my food was as good as usual. My duck breast was perfect, on the rare side but the attached leg was turned into duck jerky. Salad and tamale with tomatillo sauce were excellent. My main complaint is the decibel level: my app measured 78. It was very difficult to have a conversation. I could manage if I got within 2 ft of my dining partner, but he needs hearing aids and he couldn't hear anything but the din of the dining room service. I wish we'd had some bread served to us as the main was very small. It must have been a juvenile duck, the standard duck breast is at least 30% larger. I think we'll look for a quieter restaurant next time we're in Napa.. read more

Mustards is a Napa staple. Their menu has something for everyone and prices won't break the bank. After a wonderful day of wine tasting we finished our evening with dinner at Mustards. The dining room seems packed and can be loud but service is always excellent. For my dinner I ordered the Famous Mongolian Pork Chop but substituted fries and coleslaw to go along with the chop. Food was good and chop was plentiful but perhaps a little dry. Everyone in our party seemed to enjoy what they ordered so the evening was a success. We will make it a point to visit again and explore something else on the menu. Perhaps our next visit will include a fifth star. read more

Stopped by this American diner type restaurant for dinner on a short trip to Napa due to many many recommendations by friends and family. Our reservations was for 8 for 10 people. We showed up at 7:40 and was told to wait outside. We went for a stroll in the nice little farm right by the parking lot. Our table was ready around 8:15 or so but to our surprise, we sat at two tables next to each others. So all the guys sat at a table for four and the wives and two kids at a table for 6. I had the Pinot flight which was a nice option to try two local Pinots and one French one. We also got the onion rings side dish for appetizers. Really thinly cut onions deep fried with a tomatoes and apple ketchup. It was different and we devoured it. The other guys ordered a couple of coktails. Gimlet, old fashioned and Bloody Mary. The old fashioned was full of ice which was not to our liking but the gimlet and Bloody Mary were great. I got their signature Mongolian pork chop since everyone raves about it. Ordered it medium and it comes with mashed potatoes. Surprisingly our food arrived very early and unfortunately my pork chop was very cold. At that point I was way too hungry and didn't make a fuss about it and ate it. Although it was cold, it was cooked well and was tender. We skipped the dessert. The server was in a rush at the beginning but then relaxed abit and was very friendly. The bus boys are all super nice and courteous. The location is very nice and right across a nice vineyard.... We've come to Mustards Grill many times and brought visitors here. The food is always good. For appetizers we had the delicious corn tamales and the Mac and cheese, which was surprisingly bland. We ordered the special of the day , prime NY steak, which was cooked medium rare, juicy, flavorful and tender. We also had the delicious baby back ribs - fall off the bones, nice smokey flavor and we did not need to have the extra BBQ sauce. The meatloaf tasted ok. We loved the honey cornbread and should have ordered more. The Cocktail of the Day Margarita was refreshing and had enough alcohol. The restaurant was crowded for a Wednesday lunch with lots of lively conversations. But like a once-great ballplayer who forgot the love of the game, Mustards seems to have drifted into that sad, sluggish place called mediocrity. Let's start with the good news, because there's still some. On our latest visit, our waiter Dwight could've taught a master class in hospitality. Professional, friendly, thoughtful -- Dwight navigated our table of ten (octogenarians to second graders) with the calm focus of a saint. No complaints there. If service were food, we'd have been Michelin-starred. But, alas, food is what we came for -- and food is what failed us. The famous BBQ ribs? Dry as a desert and needed flavor, like a cruel joke from the kitchen. The rest of the meal? Generous portions, sure -- but when the flavor's gone missing, more just feels like a punishment. So why am I giving a place that serves what they refer to as "Deluxe Truck Stop Classics" 4 stars? This place looks upscale when you walk in, and the service has not faltered over the years. Im so glad I cancelled our other res and drove the extra 40 minutes. From the linen tablecloths and napkins to the thoughtful severs and bussers, to the smiles and thank yous on the way out. It seems like a simple thing, but if I'm going out... this the the type of place I want go. I just had a burger this time and it was. the best cheeseburger I've ever had!! The ketchup is apparently house made and it was delicious! I could have eaten the mustard by itself it was so good! I did dip my fries and now love fries with mustard. My wife and I went Mustards Grill for lunch. It was anniversary celebration, 47 years. Our table was ready when we arrived. The service was great, the sommelier, expertly opened our 47 year old bottle of wine. The server gave us some celebratory champagne and was very attentive in getting our food to the table in a timely manner. The busboy was amazingly efficient. The food was great. We had the calamari salad, the crab cakes, onion rings, and Mongolian pork chop. The ambience was good, although a little noisy. However, the most impressing thing was the level of concern and assistance the staff gave us when I misplaced my cellphone. The food never disappoints and is perfectly matched with the Napa ambience...rustic yet refined. We usually pair with a Jayson Pahlmeyer Unfiltered Chardonnay which is perfect with the meal...and Jayson actually thanked us one time personally for ordering his wine. Didn't even know he was there! Unfortunately, this place was not for us. I ordered the flank steak which was well WELL over done so made it very dry, didn't end up eating it. Partner ordered the NY, it was semi decent, no marbleization which made it very bland and not as favorable. Order a side of mashed potatoes which had NO flavor at all, my fries weren't even seasoned just tasted like fresh out of the oil. Neither of us ate even 1/4 of our plate which sucked bc it was pricy. Also, called ahead and my partner spoke with the bartender asking for advise on a nice champagne for my bday and have it ready etc. which they did table side and that was nice. I almost passed out when I see it was a $150 bottle on the tab after we drank it, that was my husband bad I told him he should have confirmed the price! It was a great early dinner after a day at the wineries. The place is pretty laid back and has a nice ambiance. Reservation is a must as they are always very busy, parking is easy. The food was really good but everything was a bit on a heavy side with lots of various dips and sauces. Wine selection is top notch! Staff was very friendly and helpful. What a fun gem of a restaurant. It looks extremely unassuming from the exterior but once you get inside it has a very cozy bistro setting and has a lot more tables than you think it would. Full bar. Amazing wine list. Small bites, soups or salad, entrees to fit most palates and a very delicious dessert menu that we were too full to explore. My husband made an afternoon reservation easily through OpenTable for the next day. The staff does a great job turning tables and are extremely efficient with service and food runners. So if you don't make a reservation then walks in should not be a huge issue except peak season. We ordered the calamari (which doubles over as a salad with the amount of slaw it comes with), pork chop and duck. Amazing. We loved it there. We drove by this place so many times and have never stopped by during our many visits to Napa Valley. My husband mentioned it to me so we decided to make reservations for New Year's eve around 1:30 pm. It's located right off Highway 29 and they have a dedicated parking lot. We checked in at the front and they were able to seat us right away. It's a beautiful, cozy restaurant and it was bustling with a ton of people on the day we went. My husband and I shared their little gem Ceasar salad, crispy calamari and baby back ribs, slaw and warm cornbread. For our kids, we ordered a grilled cheese sandwich with house made chips and mac and cheese. They have a great kids menu with choices of grilled cheese, burgers, fried chicken. The food was amazing. I loved the calamari and my little girls chips were so crispy and delicious. The service was top tier. Our drinks were always filled and our table was cleared right after every course. This place is definitely going to be one of our stops when we visit Napa. You won't regret eating at Mustards! It's a solid place. read more

Half Pound Cheeseburger, buttered sesame seed bun, lettuce, tomato, mayo ($21.95) Solid burger. This burger is juicy AF will not disappoint and the fries are perfectly crispy. Grilled Hanger Steak, onion jam, french fries, watercress dip ($37.95) Yum! This was tasty, tender perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection. The onion jam was my favorite part. The steak was flavorful without the watercress dip but nonetheless a well balanced dip that paired well with the steak. You can also dip your fries in it :) Famous Mongolian Pork Chop - sweet & sour red cabbage, housemade mustard ($39.95) Bomb! We let the server know we were planning to share this dish and it arrived in two beautifully plated dishes. WOW. The pork was supposed to come medium but it was a bit overcooked. We were able to make reservations the night before, although it was a little later then when I usually eat (the resi was for 7:15). I was so thrown off by the menu because they describe themselves as high end food truck food. I am not sure if that is how I would describe it but the food is definitely delicious! Onion Rings: We saw another table have onion rings and we HAD to order them. It was absolutely delicious and a wonderful munchie munch. Their homemade ketchup was to die for aND they gave us refills on the ketchup! Baby Back Ribs: I will say something AND I WILL SAY IT WITH MY CHEST! I don't really like smoky flavor but this was exceptional! Extremely moist, extremely delicious, and extremely no-sharing-with-others. I was on edge because I saw a review that said that it was bad but I saw someone going to town on them and thought "I want that to be me" and so it was! Soup of the Day: the soup of the day was a meat minestrone and it was great. I have always loved minestrone but from restaurant to restaurant, I couldn't find a place that would satisfy me. This place is truly a gem. My friends and I made reservations on Opentable for a Sunday lunch. Lots of parking out. We were seated right away and had great food and really good service. It's a bit pricey for a lunch, but the star dishes were the corn bread (although 2 fairly small pieces for $8), their signature Mongolian pork chop (really flavorful although very mustard - forward) and my favorite dish of the menu - the famous lemon and lime tart with the meringue on top. Smaller restaurant but worth every bite. Mustards knows what's up. You'll see everyone get the onion rings and you'll see why. They're thin strips (spiralized) and amazing crispy and crunchy. Their dipping sauce is fantastic as well. Highly recommend the ribs (large, meaty, saucy and flavorful) with the cole slaw and corn bread. As someone who doesn't care for corn bread, YES. This is the corn bread you want to try. Not too sweet and dense. Perfectly crunchy on the outside. The ahi burger was a massive piece of fish and topped perfectly. Everytime I'm in Napa I see this establishment. I've seen Mustards Grill plenty of times. It's time. Today, I'm in Napa again this Friday night. I'm finally here. It feels good to be back in Wine Country for Labor day, 3 day weekend. It's beautiful out here. I'm just enjoying the scenary, taking in this view, and enjoying life. When I got here it was packed, there happen to be a Party held here tonight, it was so loud. The decor looks elegant, cozy, American, and I appreciate all the eclectic Art. I knew exactly what I wanted. This is a Grilled Hanger Steak with Onion Jam, French Fries, and Watercress Dip. I don't care what anybody says, I had my Steak cooked medium. The Bread is made slightly different than a lot of other places, the chewy texture is very distinct. The Steak was fabulous, grilled to perfection, and incredibly juicy. I can really tell they took their time preparing the Onion Jam, it was out of this world, and complimented the Steak so well. The Watercress Dip reminded me of a sophisticated Spinach Dip. The Fries were absolutely cooked to perfection, crunchy, but not overdone. That was one of the best version of Steak Frites I ever had. I give this 4.5 stars. read more

Very disappointed. We had a 1:00 reservation. Arrived at 12:55. People outside waiting. At 1:25 we left. They had no idea when we would be seated. One couple was waiting for an hour. They need to manage reservations better to make sure they can accommodate people with reservations. read more

A perfect place to celebrate any occasion and of course eat pork chops (with beautiful grill marks). The pork chops aren't the only yummy item on the menu. We tried the crispy calamari curried slaw which had just the perfect amount of curry flavoring. Every other table had the onion rings or the calamari, just can't go wrong with either, and I was more in the mood for the calamari. The onion rings are on our must try for my next visit. We also ordered the truck stop deluxe. What is there not to love about a perfectly cooked steak topped with butter? We didn't have room to enjoy the lemon lime tart, which every table ordered, except us. Will be back again for the onion rings and lemon lime tart. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Napa County. Every dish we have tried is quite good. The menu has some great staples, like the meatloaf and the seasonal offerings are always creative and tasty. While not pictured, save room for their famous Lemon Meringue pie. They are pricey but average for the area and worth every dime. The service is always friendly and prompt. It is bright and airy, the only downside is the noise. It is a very loud restaurant. Can't remember how many times we've been here so far but the hubby and I first dined at Mustard's almost 30 years ago before we were married and had kids so it's a special place for us. On our most recent trip to Napa, we snagged last minute lunch reservations with our daughter and were so happy as she was craving the meatloaf and i was craving the roasted lemon chicken. After some wine tasting we were looking for a bite to sober up nearby and this was in the vicinity, also on my radar for years. I've tried a few restaurants in the area and this was mustards lucky day.. nice sized parking lot available and bar area while you wait to be seated. This place is popular for good reason so be prepared to wait.. Some may find the menu limited but I think you can find at least one thing you'd order and enjoy. I went with the fish of the day which was halibut and they knocked it out the park. Simply delicious and well cooked. My brother had the half rack of ribs which was a surprise to us all with the shear size of the portions. We split a side of mac n cheese that was impressive in its own right. Speaking of surprises, the fried calamari seemed more like a salad with 1/3 of its contents being calamari. We still ate it all and it tastes great so I'm not sure if I'd file it under a complaint/let down but you might have an issue with it so I'm giving forewarning. The staff is friendly and top tier level of professionalism. The pricing is hit or miss but if you're on a budget I suggest you find another city to dine in lol. You can get a 20 dollar burger or the steak of the day was a 14oz ribeye for 60 bones and plenty of things in between price wise. All in all I very much enjoyed my visit here and would recommend this place to anybody that's on the fence about coming here. Just like the surrounding restaurants, you'll have a great experience.
