I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience left me genuinely uncomfortable. When we arrived 3/7/26 at Mustards Grill, we immediately noticed something that felt very off. We were seated in a dark back section of the restaurant that only had two booths. The other table in that section was also occupied by minorities. As we looked around the rest of the dining room, the main floor was filled with white diners who were seated in the brighter, central areas of the restaurant. It was hard not to notice the pattern, and it made the experience feel isolating and uncomfortable right from the start. In a place like Napa Valley, and especially in California in 2026, it's disappointing to walk into a restaurant and feel like seating may be segregated in this way. Whether intentional or not, the optics and the impact were very real. Dining out should feel welcoming for everyone, and unfortunately that was not the experience we had here. I hope the management takes a serious look at how guests are being seated and ensures that all diners feel equally welcomed and respected! read more

When you drive by this place, it looks like a typical road side diner. Ignore that impression. Go in and take a seat, and find some epicurean delights, and a wine list which would make some restaurants in Illinois green with envy. We made a reservation based on a recommendation from the Beau Lieu Vineyard during a tour. We incorrectly judged a book by it's cover, so to speak. Mea Culpa. Oh man, MEA CULPA. The menu isn't huge, but it makes up for that with interesting dishes. The back of the menu has wines by the glass, a sheet twice the size of the menu has two columns of white wine on the front, and 3 columns of red wine on the back. I'm talking several hundred bottles. Service was punctual, polite, and attentive. The water glass didn't stay empty for long. We started with their Ahi Crackers, which were just great! The crackers were thin and crisp. My wife tried to cut hers up - nope, don't do that. The Ahi is a very high grade, you can bite off some of the Ahi and a cracker. We both ordered their Mongolian Pork Chop, which had a light Mongolian barbeque flavor. It was large, thick, properly cooked, nicely seasoned, and tasted great. It was on a bed of mashed potatoes and had red cabbage which was a little sweet on the side. Yum! We asked for a wine suggestion, and our waiter suggested a Cabernet Franc (GL Durban) by the glass. I was impressed with the wine's freshness and mouth feel - it was just good. You really need to make a reservation and try this place out. Absolutely wonderful experience!! The food was excellent. We had the pork chop and the duck. For desert we got a lemon cake that was so awesome. Also the service was great. They checked in on us, the hostess was super friendly and we felt like we were just so welcomed. Thanks for making our Napa Valley vacation so memorable. I always wanted to come here since Bobby Flay said that the Pork Chop was the best thing he ever ate, so I had to get it. Unfortunately, it wasn't the greatest pork chop I've had but it was good. The food is always always fantastic here. It's your American style meal made well and seasoned well. The service is at a good pace, but more of a slower side for you don't come to this restaurant to rush and go. You enjoy with your company and appreciate each bite. The ambiance is very classic and an old style American eatery feel. Waiters are dressed professionals as well as how they serve you. We had a bunch of dishes here this day. This is a great place to visit on days when you just need a hearty meal! They have so many tasty menu options. I'm a bit of a finicky eater and I thought multiple different things sounded great. We ended up with the onion rings, cornbread, meatloaf, and pork chop. All were flavorful and completely satisfying. The best thing for me was the wood fired broccolini that accompanied my meatloaf. I haven't had vegetables prepared that well in a long time. We didn't have any room left in our bellies this time, but I want to come back soon and try the lemon meringue dessert. With as scrumptious as all of the other food was, I'm sure the dessert is amazing as well. A few tables around us ordered different dessert offerings and they all looked fantastic. We ended up here on a rainy day, so the dining room was very crowded, charged, and loud. It was tough to have a conversation over the dining room roar and blaring pop music. I'm sure this isn't as bad when the weather is nice and the outdoor garden seating is open though. Overall I thought the service was pleasant and timely. Before our tour at Piazza Del Dotto Winery, we had lunch down the street at Mustard's Grill. This place was one of the best restaurants we went to for lunch (or you could do dinner there as well) as they offer amazing French-inspired cuisine that was magical and majestic. The location is quite convenient if you are planning on touring Cosentino Winery and Napa Cellars as both are next door, with Del Dotto across from Napa Cellars for reference. There are plenty of spaces to park when you arrive unless it's potentially the dinner crowd. The bar was quite cozy and bistro-like in feel when we entered before we took our seats at a nearby table. They have great cocktails in addition to the wine list depending on what you're in the mood to have when you first grab a seat. I enjoyed a Negroni Bianca since I had been doing wine tastings all morning and needed something to break what we would be enjoying soon after this. My wife enjoyed the roasted duck which was probably the best both of us had. For my dish, I enjoyed the mustard-marinated rabbit that brought me to a place of spiritual purity and strength; strength and spiritual purity. When we return to Napa, we will return to Mustards Grill so I can order my own dish of roasted duck while enjoying some of their other fare. Mustards is magical; very magical. read more

We've been to Napa often and have been wanting to go to Mustards Grill for a while and unfortunately after last night will never be back. Our server was Brandon. He greeted us, took our drink order, our appetizer order, and our drink order. That was the extent of his service. He did not check on us after our appetizer. He did not ask how our food was. He did not explain the menu. He did not return to our table until we flagged him down to ask for our check. Throughout the meal, Brandon repeatedly visited his other tables, asking how they were doing, checking on their food, and talking and engaging with them. Meanwhile, my boyfriend's first glass of wine sat empty for most of his meal. Brandon walked past our table multiple times before finally asking if he wanted another glass, at which point the meal was essentially done. There were several items on the menu said "A.Q." next to them as well as what looked like daily specials. Brandon never explained what any of this meant he literally only asked "do you want to start with an appetizer," and later "are you ready to order." We only learned about one of the specials because we were in somewhat of earshot when it was mentioned to another table by another server, after we had already ordered. Brandon had about four other tables, all at different stages of their meals. He was clearly not overwhelmed. He was friendly, attentive, and talkative with everyone else. With us, he was distant, disengaged, and essentially avoidant. The experience became uncomfortable and very blatant. At one point, another staff member took my boyfriend's plate since he was done eating, yet Brandon still never came by to check on us or ask how the food was. At NO point in our meal (mind you our food was delivered by someone else) did he as how are things tasting, do you like it, do you hate it, are you enjoying it, NOTHING. I try not to make assumptions, but it is impossible to ignore how it felt. I am black and my boyfriend is white. There is no reasonable explanation for being consistently ignored while watching attentive service happen at every surrounding table. It was humiliating. And if wasn't that then what other reason would there be to essentially disregard us during our entire visit?? It was not subtle and it was prolonged, obvious, and humiliating. I eventually went to the front and spoke with the manager, Dustin, who was kind and professional. I explained the situation and how uncomfortable it was to even have to speak with him about it. I explained to him that there are multiple menu items that say "A.Q." next to them and he didn't bother explaining what those things were or what the soup of the day was or the fish of the day, etc. I told him that were in earshot of another table and heard that what the specials were AFTER we had already placed our order Dustin said so "he didn't explain our sides and our specials for today?" I said no he didn't explain anything. He literally asked us what we wanted do you want to order and then we never interacted with him again until we flagged down and begged for the check. Dustin offered to take some items off the bill or provide a concession, to which I declined. I do not want handouts, I want accountability. I want behavior corrected so no one else is made to feel different, overlooked, or unwelcome. My dignity matters far more than a discount. This was one of the most disturbing dining experiences I have had. Brandon should not be a representative of this establishment. No guest should ever feel the way I felt last night. He is disgusting, foul, and a repulsive human being. If those words sound severe, they still do not match the humiliation of enduring that treatment in real time. read more

Been coming to mustards for decades. My last visit, I always love their ceaser from their garden. Fresh with extra anchovies please! My son had the smoked duck was a bit dry, not enough smoked flavor. That was a bit of a miss for him. Yes I had a little dad tax to verify! His wife had the burger and cooked perfect medium rare. Things have certainly changed since 2009. Four stars down to two. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Mustard's Grill is one of the top 100 restaurants in the Bay Area. I haven't explored all the list, but if Mustard's Grill is one of the best, the worst must be horrible. I'll start with the good parts. (Sadly, there aren't that many.) The grilled artichoke special was quite good. A bit difficult to eat without making a mess, but well worth the risk. Our guest enjoyed her fish special. My bacon cheeseburger was properly prepared and exactly what I was craving. That's where the good parts end. There aren't enough words to describe how poor the service was. My drink order was given after the other guests', but along with our appetizer orders. The drink however wasn't delivered until after the first round of appetizers. (Which I will note was taken incorrectly, so we had to wait on the appetizer for one of the guests - hence "first" and "second" rounds.) The Crispy Calamari was unlike any other calamari we've ever ordered. It can best be described as slaw with a garnish of calamari. The curried slaw was tasty but not worth $20. It took almost 40 minutes from when we finished our appetizers until our entrees were delivered. I don't know if it was a kitchen or server problem, but it went without explanation. (Annoying since we watched many people around us who arrived after us being served their meals while we were ignored.) My partner described his "Famous Mongolian Pork Chop" as so overcooked as to be almost impossible to cut and eat. He also described it as being "slopped onto the plate." We both agreed that the small size of the chop did not warrant the $40 price tag. The final disappointment was the onions rings, which are of the shoestring variety. They were delivered cold - a situation which was not improved by the air conditioning vent which was blowing across our table. We opted not to get dessert since we were not willing to endure a similar wait between our last two courses. If you're looking for a place to eat in Yountville, there are better choices. You may have to do a bit of planning to get a reservation at the better restaurants, but it will be well worth your while. And to the management and staff at Mustard's Grill, if you want to complete with the "Keller Empire" you desperately need to get your act together. read more

From wine, service, hosts, food, and ambiance- it doesn't get better than this. There are so many entree options, it'll be hard to pick one. I had the halibut and it was absolutely delicious. Reservations get booked up quick here. My hubby tried to make reservations and checked back multiple times. He was finally able to make one (with the help of Amex concierge); I am grateful to Mustards for squeezing us in. For that, and all the wonderful things about this restaurant, I am a fan! Probably 3.5 stars overall. I thought there were two standout dishes, then everything else was quite ordinary. The waitress was friendly but in a less than genuine way. We had a reservation for a weeknight dinner and good thing we did because it was quite busy still. We were seated at a good table away from others as the noise level is quite loud from other parties. We focused on the food items selecting 3 appetizers/side, 3 entrees, and a dessert to share at the end and to forgo the drinks, but it was awkward and we felt a bit pressured that our waitress came back about 3-4 times asking if we were going to order drinks or wine. The standouts were actually the cornbread and the Mac n cheese. I wouldn't recommend the crab cakes at all because they were only two small cakes and felt too finely shredded to even notice the crab. The cornbread was one of the butteriest softest and sweetest I've tasted and the mac n cheese had a velvety cheese sauce that was rich and delicious. Our entrees were nothing much to rave about, we tried the duck breast which was a bit too sweet for me, the pasta special, and the salmon dish. For the dessert we had the lime pie which was topped with a giant meringue. It was super rich and good for sharing. Food was delicious. Cornbread was warm and almost creamy! My kiddo loved it and wanted nothing else. Loved my chicken salad - curry was not too overpowering with pops of sweetness from the raisins. Hubby enjoyed his chicken sandwich. We also got the lemon-lime tart. Beautifully presented, but HUGE layer of meringue on top - it was too much for me and I would've preferred more tart filling to meringue ratio. Service was very good. Food was alright. We have been to Mustards a handful of times over the past 30+ years, and this time, it was more due to nostalgia, since we now live in Texas. They were very flexible with our reservation. And food came out very quickly We sat at the bar, since we arrived 30 minutes early. We had the calamari as an appetizer. It was more like a coleslaw with calamari, rather than calamari with the side of slaw. Once we sat at our table, we ordered a bottle of wine (wine list was pretty epic), onion rings, and the hanger steak. We ordered the steak with a side of mashed potatoes, which were OK. The steak was done as we had suggested. And it was pretty good. The best part of the meal was the upside down pineapple cake, which the waitress recommended. My husband's steak was good, but the meatloaf was so dense it was like a brick, the horseradish bbq sauce was missing the horseradish, and the garlic mashed potatoes were dry and flavorless. Recently, I visited Mustards Grill with my family and we had a great experience. We arrived around 12 on a Saturday and were able to be seated immediately at the bar (which was empty when we showed up!). There was ample parking and a cute garden to walk around. The worker at the bar sold us all on the "Famous Mongolian Pork Chop" and onion rings side. The pork chop was juicy and the sauce made it so delicious. I don't know how they do it. The platter of onion rings was also huge and enough for the 4 of us to share. They were very crispy and the apple ketchup went perfectly with it. Bathrooms were clean. If you're in the area, I'd say Mustards Grill is worth the visit and would highly recommend the pork chop. First dinner in Napa tonight for vacation! Great food and service!! David and I saw this place on Food Network. Bobby Flay recommended this restaurant. David and I stopped here yesterday on Saturday evening without a reservation. We arrived at 540pm and lucked into a table for two. Immediately after we were seated, the restaurant filled up. Make a reservation to avoid disappointment. From the moment that we walked in the service was awesome. Our waiter provided great suggestions and the service was excellent. David and I had the heirloom tomato salad with burrata cheese, arugula and grilled bread. We also ordered their homemade chips with blue cheese dipping sauce plus the grilled chicken sandwich. Mustard Grill is famous for their shoestring onion rings and their Mongolian pork chop and I'm happy to say that both are delicious. A special shout out to Neva who is such a great hostess always taking care of guest going above and beyond. Recommendations off the menu that are excellent include the pork chop, the hangar steak, the duck and, the burger. We also like the Dungeness crab cakes. We just learned that during lunch, the lamb is a burger and not lamb chops. The onion rings are a must ! While this place is busy during peak times the wait staff is on top of things and the food was prepared perfectly. During the holidays the dining room is decorated and very festive with the right energy and ambience. It's a pleasant experience. FYI, they don't have typical cuts of steak or fries here. So glad I made reservations on OpenTable at this restaurant. It was really hopping tonight and it was a Monday. So I decided to get a flight of champagne. Was a good decision and after I drink three selections, I ordered the first one also. My husband had a glass of Pinot Noir. You can ask for Bread so we did and it was excellent. We shared a salad. It had walnuts and pears, but not too many pears. I had their special king salmon, and it was good and I replace the brussels sprouts with broccolini and it came with just a few potatoes. My husband had the hanger steak and it came with french fries, I think it would've been nice if it would've come with vegetables or something else also. We were too full to order dessert, but they looked good. Their wine list is the biggest one I've ever seen, and some of them were the most expensive I've ever seen. This place is a well-oiled machine. The food comes out quickly (although the temperature varies- my friend's mashed potatoes were cold and my steak was a tad cold too). It seems like they've mastered the art of turning tables over, which is a positive thing if you're in between tastings. The prices are standard for this type of restaurant in Napa and I am happy I got to finally stop in and try it. Overall, the food was pretty average. I've had better and I've had worse. I wouldn't order the steak again but I'd prob try a burger. Their salads looked good, too. The server advised that the steak, the pork chop, and the lemon chicken were among the most popular items. The wine list is good here and they offered flights.
