It was hard and gooey at the same time, which I know makes so sense, but it was just so bad. If you're thinking of studying at My Cafe and Lounge... don't bother. They'll eventually kick you out. I came in around 6 PM after the library closed. I had been meaning to try this place out because they're open until 2 AM--perfect for students who need a cozy space to study late into the night. At first, it seemed like a great pick. The atmosphere was relaxed, it's conveniently located right across from the library, and the name "My Cafe and Lounge" made it sound like the kind of place that welcomes people who want to take their time, unwind, or get some work done. I ordered food, got a drink, and settled in to study. From 6 to 9 PM, I kept to myself, was quiet and respectful--nothing out of the ordinary. Then, I was asked to leave. Why? "It's too busy." Apparently, Friday night isn't a time for studying at their café. That was beyond frustrating. I wasn't freeloading--I paid for a meal and the Ferrero Rocher Latte (which honestly didn't live up to the price). I kept to myself, or acting out of line. I was doing exactly what cafés are meant for: sipping a drink, reading, getting some work done in a cozy atmosphere. Isn't that what cafés are for? If your business markets itself as a late-night café--especially near a library--don't be surprised when students actually show up to... study. And if your first instinct is to kick them out just because more people walk in, that says a lot about what kind of customer experience you actually value. If you're going to call yourself a café and lounge, you might want to actually be that. Don't promote late hours and a chill vibe, only to push out paying customers because it suddenly gets busy and you'd rather fill seats with bigger spenders. That's not community. She walked us through the menu, explained everything in detail. I made some changes in my sandwiches. She was happy to do that in details and I know myself. Unfortunately, this was the only option close to me that has some coffee and food at about 10pm without getting into a full restaurant. There were about 3 small tables outside that were full with plates from previous customers and I asked to have a seat outside. FIRST thing that I was told is "coffee orders have 45 min and food orders 60min".... I almost laughed at that this is a first time I hear a time limit...if someone is at the table for too long, there are polite ways to let them know that the restaurant is busy and you cant just seat there with no orders. What type of cheap service is that. But ok... whatever. I was really hungry. I said "ok, I'll just get that small table outside". SECOND thing I hear is "are you alone?". Meaning if its just me I might not spend enough or what? What kind of question is that? I had a really bad experience at my café and I decided to leave a review but I realized I'm not the only one and other people have had similar experiences. I hate the feeling of being judged and that's exactly what they did. I got there around seven PM when I first entered the café I asked one of the girls if it was OK to have my computer and they said yes sure- and I was not notified of having a time limit, but I understand they judged me based on my order since I only ordered a cake and a coffee they implied their policy on me. They didn't know the backstory. They didn't know that I was going to spend maybe an hour or two until my husband got there so we could have something to eat and enjoy our evening at their cafe. I just felt judged and it was very humiliating to be asked to leave by the owner. I wonder what they gained out of kicking one person out. I understand they have a policy, but if they can't bend the policy when they're not packed, it came off very inhumane. I want to support an Armenian business and enjoy a nice evening, get some work done, but their uneasy approach ruined my night. I don't see myself ever going back and I will not recommend anyone else. I wonder if I had ordered a sandwich or something else would they still kick me out?? It came off as very aggressive and money hungry. Girls seating next to my table also had their computer and they ordered some light food- they got there probably few minutes after me I wonder if they were asked to leave as well ‍ I took a screenshot of the photo I had posted to my Instagram story at 8:11 when I was already in my car- and it clearly shows the photo was posted 53 min prior. I can't imagine them timing and walking around every table and asking them to leave. This was targeted towards a stereotype. If they're so strict on their policy - you can clearly see a computer bag from a mile away you can kindly tell people upfront instead of kicking them out. As a business owner you should care about your reputation and treat returning, loyal customers better. We've been meaning to try My Cafe since moving back to Glendale and I'm sure glad we got a chance to go there this beautiful Memorial Day morning. My pics don't do justice to the food we received. We were greeted as soon as we arrived and I requested to sit inside since we were a party of 5. All of our items were so delicious and you could tell they are using fresh, great quality ingredients. Although I didn't get to take pics of all the food before we got to them...we got the French toast with berries, and pancakes with Nutella and banana for the kids. My baby and I shared the Armenian egg and tomato breakfast which also comes with delicious lavash and olive bread. And the hubs had the recommended lavash press sandwich with some yummy sauce on the side that I also had with my Armenian eggs. Next time I plan to try their ajarski. The kids had fresh pressed juices and I opted for the Armenian coffee that is so specially made on the warm sand. It's extra special tasting this way and they even give you the additional left in the coffee pot. And my husband enjoyed a good cup of American coffee. I believe they use special coffee beans from Italy and you can taste the difference from a typical coffee. Overall, we had a great time with amazing service. We even got to meet the owner and she was kind enough to say hello and see how we're doing. I don't think she was there for work but it was nice that she took the time to engage with us. Ty! My family and I will definitely recommend My Cafe and I also would see myself going here just with my husband or with some girlfriends for a bite to eat or a coffee session. Sometimes you want to be taken care of rather than do everything yourself. Can't wait to try their lunch or dinner menus. I also appreciate that the location is near fun shopping so we got to take a stroll around before we went home. And it was easy to find parking. I noticed they close late too and you don't find many options like this that are open from am to midnight. I would comfortably go here anytime of day.
