I am always down to find vegan/vegetarian places to try for lunch. My Vegan fit the bill since I was also feeling for some Thai that day. They are located in a plaza with a parking lot, but space is limited. Like many typical small restaurants, service was basically a one-person show. I was greeted by a lady who was behind the cash register who told me to choose a seat. After I sat down, she brought over a menu. I loved that their menu had a bunch of pictures. Many things looked good, but under her recommendation, I chose the yellow curry noodles and I'm so glad I did! The curry was fantastic! The noodles were really good but I wished they gave more. My favorite was the Tom Yum Noodle Soup. It had a traditional, yet unique flavor. Went here with a couple of friends for dinner as a couple of them are vegan and vegetarian. I knew vegan food could be good, but nothing could have possibly prepared me for just how good this place is. I got the Tom Yum noodle soup with tofu. My friends got the pasta cabonara, supreme fried rice, pad see ew, and the spicy green beans. We all had a bite of each other's food. And I was impressed with every dish. Went in based on the reviews. I normally don't eat at vegan places because of a bad few experiences before. I would have to say this place blew me away. I dont normally enjoy soy chicken because the lack of flavor and texture, but the soy chicken in my spicy eggplant was just awesome. The sauce that was cooked with the eggplant had such good flavor with a little kick. I was debating the fried brown rice but the waitress convinced me to try it, that was also great. I don't know exactly what they used but whatever it was it tasted great. I dont normally like onions but they sure made it tasty where I couldn't resist. Should be $$, not $. I thought it was pricy for faux chicken everything, and for Thai food in general. It's probably made with GMO soy. The curry was too soupy and had too many undercooked potatoes. I convinced a non-vegan friend of mine to try this place over the Christmas holiday based on the rave yelp reviews. It's in a strip mall, which is not surprising for SoCal so the ambiance is basic. I had the Only Greens Please and my friend had the mock chicken chow mein. Mine was pretty basic asian greens in a vegetarian oyster sauce with brown rice which was yummy. I'm not a fan of faux meats and my friend confirmed that his mock chicken was odd smelling. Service was good, but food needs to be amped up to compete with the plethora of good eats in LA. The Orange "Chicken" is the best I've had, vegan or not. I come back again and again for this meal, and my experiences have been good each time. The pricing is very fair for the quality of the food: soy "meats" and other specialty ingredients are not cheap to cook with. Just moved to Pasadena and was so happy to find a Thai Vegan place as I had one in my old neighborhood. But boy was I in for a surprise, the food was amazing and so much better than the one near my old house. I went with a vegetarian friend and she loved it too. Always a large selection of meals and all delicious. We love the "near heaven" which has been renamed to vegan jerky as a starter. The chicken taquitos are really amazing although not traditional, they are delicious. Our son is a very picky eater but loves the food here especially the hot kale bowl. Yes, he like the kale and tofu and he is only 2! The desserts are awesome including the mango with white sticky rice. I personally prefer the black rice but that's lotus vegan. It's official, I have found my new food haven! Being vegan isn't exactly easy if you are seeking more than some assorted greens in a bowl with dairy-free dressing, no sir. Having said that, this place offers a plethora of savory dishes that will have you dreaming about it for days on end. Obsession? Can I get a "hell yes"?!? Where to start? Hmm.... I have been a faithful patron of 'My Vegan' for several months now, and every new dish I try never ceases to satisfy my eager taste buds and spacious stomach. In my opinion, I feel like there is a dish here for everybody! Whether you enjoy creamy curries, juicy burgers, or some "carb-tastic" pasta, this place will not disappoint if you are willing to experience veganism with tastes that aren't commonly associated with animal-free foods. Who says vegan food is boring??? Uh, methinks NOT! Moving right along, the staff are some of the kindest, attentive servers I have encountered. To sum them up in one word: FANTASTIC! Parking, you ask? Truthfully, during lunch hours, you are better off finding parking on the street with the locals congregating here between 11:30-1:30. Apparently, a hot-spot for the lunch-goers. Besides that, parking is decent. Don't forget to share a plate of coconut ice cream (with green tea tapioca in the mix). Ahhh, a stellar way to cleanse the palette. Found this place on Yelp! after searching for "$" places in Pasadena. Got the SPICY EGGPLANT dish, and it was pretty huge portions and very flavorful... But neither food nor service is particularly outstanding; the place is almost too brightly lit and not particularly good for groups, unless your friends are vegan (and cheap). I could probably make better food at home for even less money, so it's not somewhere I'd come back to. read more
