Traveling with a business colleague today and we stumbled onto this restaurant. The interior has a rustic feel with old bones and character. The bathrooms were well maintained & clean. We ordered fried pickles & green tomatoes for appetizers. He had the mystic burger and I ordered the lobster roll. Each meal was yummy, freshly prepared and plenty of food on the plate. Absolutely the best burger and fries I've ever had! Nice ambiance. Especially if you're a fan of the Vampire Diaries!!! My only issue is they don't do "to go" orders on Friday or the weekends. We drove an hour and 45 minutes last night to eat there. But we were told they "unfortunately " don't do take out. We had our dog with us so obviously we couldn't go in to eat and their rooftop dining wasn't open. Wasn't going to leave my dog in the car while we ate there, so to go was our only option. On the website it says "dine in and curbside ". They should put on the website no to go on the weekends. Or at least open the rooftop dining. I gave 1 star for the customer service. I have been to the Mystic Grill three times, and each time I have had phenomenal service and the food is delicious. If you're a fan of The Vampire Diaries, you will enjoy the tie-ins to the show and the fun themed choices of beverages. The restaurant is still young, but I foresee it lasting for decades. The Mystic Salad and the Fried Chicken are personal favorites. If you have a chance to stop by, I really recommend dining here for a "bite"! read more

They're trying to milk you for money, and they know it. When ordering cocktails, our waitress said "with Brother's Bond?" (the whiskey company of the Vampire Diaries stars), and we said "Sure!" As casual of an interaction as an interaction can be. Turns out, having Brother's Bond will add $15 to the price of your cocktail. Which is about half the price of an entire bottle. The cocktail menu has no prices listed, which is clearly intentional. They do not offer a spirits menu with prices, which is clearly intentional. If you want to order price gouged drinks, be my guest. But you've been warned. They are conspicuously silent about their prices, and they'll make you pay it. The worst part? A cute little grill in the heart of downtown Covington, we enjoyed our fresh salads and sweet waitress, Ashley ("Ashlove"). I ordered the Mystic salad which is simply mesclun and baby greens with goat cheese and sweet pecans, topped with a light vinegrette. Yum. My friend ordered the Caesar salad and she said she liked it as well. Both salads incredibly wallet friendly and boasted heaping portions. Bread is served before the meal and it had a fresh garlic-y flavor. Highly recommend this street corner specialty, their sandwiches looked great too and I will have to try one the next time I'm around. FYI: Keep your eyes peeled for TV show sets & stars! Absolutely incredible!! We went late on a Friday night and it was quite empty. Our waiter Shaun was very attentive and personable. We chatted a bit and he was great with recommendations. I have been to the greater Athens area about 15 times on vacations to see family and this meal was by far the best I've had yet. I had the Mystic salad (amazing!!) and the burger with a fried green tomato on it (also amazing!!). We also had some pork puff appetizer and Kentucky pie with salted caramel ice cream for dessert. I have been to Georgia only once and this was the second time visiting. My family and I were coming to Covington to visit the Vampire Diaries Film spot and of course on the travel plans was the Mystic Grill, famous for having hosted some of TVD actors. We made a reservation for 13 2 weeks before and we had no problem at all. They greeted us well and accommodated to our needs. Being that we were celebrating a birthday we brought cake, sang in the dining room upstairs and ate it in our private room. Aniessia was super sweet! Literally perfection. She was patient, quick, polite and super helpful with menu knowledge. Every single part of the dinner was amazing. The appetizers were great, we had the fried green tomatoes and the fried chicken and waffles. Then as my meal I had the trout and I loved it! Never had trout before and the sides were great, French fries were yummy. Would love to come back! Check out the gift shop too! read more

Once again, Mystic Grill did not disappoint. Stopped by for lunch on a whim with my wife today. First thing to note was that we made it just under the wire-I was not aware that they stopped serving the full menu at 3 PM each day. You can come in after that but only the bar is open and it is a extremely limited menu until dinner service starts. Since we had access to the full menu for lunch, my wife opted for the very safe but enjoyable choice of a cheeseburger. I choose the Southern style French dip and was very impressed. My wife's burger was exactly what we expected, having enjoyed that in the past. Thick, juicy, and cooked to perfection. My southern French dip was very impressive-piled high with beef, plenty of melted cheese, and the au jus was piping hot. One of the unique specialties of Mystic Grill are the fries that they serve. It is a very thick curly fry-almost appears to be a steak fry that was twisted. But as with everything else they are cooked extremely well, and I find them to be a highlight. Today we had Megan as our server, and she was incredibly polite very attentive, friendly and she represents Mystic Grill exceptionally well. The good service was simply a bonus on top of a very good meal and we will definitely be stopping in during the day again to experience another of the tempting lunch choices. read more

Would have been a fine experience except that the cocktails were $18 just for getting Brothers Bond whiskey in them (a detail undisclosed to us until receiving our bill). These incredibly below average cocktails (tasted like kook-aid) were more than any entree listed, meanwhile a bottle of Brothers Bond can be found at any local liqueur store for $30. A double shot of this whiskey here is $22! Our waitress never informed us of the price when suggesting we opt for this whiskey in our cocktails either. Mystic grill? More like mystic bill. read more

I asked her to pls go find her manager and enquire and she said ok, disappeared for 20 minutes and then told me she was not allowed to serve me because I'm celiac.. I said I'm not celiac just prefer not to eat gluten but chose not to order anything for myself and ordered just for my child. Food took forever and so did the drinks. On the way to Augusta for the Masters we stopped here for lunch. We were glad we did. It is a large, classic smalltown dining spot (or at least someone's idea of what a classic smalltown dining spot should look like). The service was a tad slow but the staff was very friendly. We even got the classic "you aren't from around here are you?". I was very surprised to find out that the restaurant owners are from Texas. The hostess told us they owned Bullritos. The food was solid. I had the sweet tea fried chicken. It was a bit under seasoned and dry. The gravy was good. The mash and beans were fine. The prices were very reasonable. I, as some reviewers have pointed out, was one of those customers who came into the restaurant solely for the purpose of being a Vampire Diaries fan. The bar is a exact replica of what was used on the show, and there is fun, autographed memorabilia lined in the hallways on your way to the rooftop bar and seating area, which overlooks the clock tower in the center of town (a perfect photo op for any other TVD fans). All of that alone--and the wonderful gift shop underneath the restaurant--made it worth it for me. That being said, the prices were a bit more than what my friends and I were expecting. Which was fine, we split a couple of appetizers and entrees amongst ourselves (also, what all the reviews say are true: the fried pickles are to die for). My first time here and I was a little disappointed. The meal was overpriced for what I received. I had the Shrimp and Grits. After eating, I noticed another table had received a basket of bread. I ask my waitress why didn't we get a basket of bread and she said you had to ask for it! How was I supposed to know that since we had never been there!
