This is my first time trying this place. I ordered the samosa and chicken tikka masala rice bowl. The chicken has a burnt taste and this burnt taste is pretty much the only flavor this dish has. The sauce has absolutely no flavor. I opted out of the chutneys (which I thought was weird to have as an option for chicken tikka), which I see now may have been added to help with the taste. It tastes nothing like chicken tikka masala, but just some charred tasting tomato sauce bowl. If you are a fan of authentic Indian food, this is not for you. I ordered coconut water and they literally hand me a damn coconut with a hole for a straw lol I ordered a standard rice bowl with chicken tills masala, Punjabi Dal, a side of garlic naan, and native Indian chutney. If you can't eat hot, DON'T GET THAT haha That timid-looking green sauce was pretty toasty if you know what I mean. I can't say I've seen a "naanwich" on a menu before; so this place naturally stood out to me as I was searching for places near Georgia State. I'm a huge fan of naan and the other usual suspects in the world of Indian cuisine, and the naanwich did not disappoint. In each naanwich, you have a choice of meat, veggies, and sauces that vary in spiciness. Because naan is a pretty soft and thin bread that is holding in very saucy foods, the eating experience will be a delicious mess. You've just been warned. Also, their hottest sauce/chutney (the chili cilantro) is actually pretty hot. Again, you've just been warned. Make sure to take advantage of their check-in special: a free samosa with your order. The samosa is the size of your fist, and it tastes awesome. One con against this place is the place itself. The place is small and kinda dingy; a new look would really draw people in and keep them in. Oh man, I SO wanted to like this place. I recently became vegan so I'm always in search of great vegan friendly spots but sometimes I don't feel like spending $$$ (three dollar signs) per meal. When I found Naan Stop I thought, "how cute" and at only $ (one dollar sign), it's perfect for a casual Thursday night bite. It's located in the heart of GSU's campus so parking can be a challenge but there are a few parking spaces located right in front on the cutest little street. We were lucky to find a vacant spot after driving around once or twice but I'm not sure how often that happens since NaanStop is located right next to Rosa's pizzeria, which is very popular with GSU students. There are also other eateries along that same street. On first impression, the restaurant was just straight DIRTY. This is usually a HUGE deal breaker for me but, I knew that my crew was hungry so I decided to tough it out and ignore it. But, hear me when I say, there was a fine layer of dust on EVERY.THING.--the utensils, the iPad register thingy, the napkin holders on the table. Eww. Then, the station where they actually make and serve the food was a complete mess. You'd think that since the customers can see everything that's being done back there that it would be a little cleaner. But nah. The floor was a mess, the counters, EVERY.THING. Thumbs all the way down, man. Then there was some kind of weird smell...dirty mop water perhaps? I don't know but I had to fight like Sophia in the Color Purple to get my food down. "All my life I had to fight..." Anyway, the setup is cute. Like, other reviews have said, think 'Chipotle-style' ordering. You can get either a rice bowl, a naan-wich or something else...I can't remember ...and then you add your toppings just as you would at Chipotle. They also have traditional Indian delights like Chicken and Lamb Masala, Kabobs, Samosas, Lamb, Palaak Paneer etc. I ordered the Naan-wich with Chola (chickpeas) and I added toppings like brown rice, cabbage slaw, corn, and the sweet tamarind chutney. The food looked good and I was excited to try it, it also helped that I got a free Samosa via my check-in coupon. Yay Yelp! I LOVE samosas. My sister tried the Masala fries (not bad) and my wife tried the Palaak Paneer (she said it was super spicy but good). I also ordered a coconut-water that came in an actual coconut which was a cute touch and spoke to my little island-girl heart! I must admit though, I had questions due to my experience in the restaurant so far..."How fresh is this?" "Where did it come from?" "We got any coconut trees in Atlanta?" "Is this safe to consume?" I digress. I had high hopes for the Naanwich but it was extremely messy. I first tried to eat it like a Chipotle burrito but found that wasn't working so I then opted for a knife and fork which was an epic fail because I ended up cutting through the damn foil straight through to the table causing my Naanwich to touch said table and we already talked about how unsanitary that table was. *Silent Scream* The Naanwich was not flavorful at all. I mean, at all. The chickpeas needed to be cooked longer and they needed seasoning and... I don't know if they specifically tell their employees to only give a DRIZZLE of chutney per order but that's exactly what I got and while it was tasty, it sure wasn't enough to save that tragedy of a meal. On top of ALL that, my Naan was burnt! Sigh. I couldn't even finish it. Oh, and that coconut water that I had so many questions about was not good. Not sweet in the least. Broke my little island girl heart. On the bright side, the employee that took our order was nice, although a bit overwhelmed and slightly scatterbrained--she forgot a couple things on our order especially as other people began to join the line. It's a very small shop but they should probably consider hiring a couple more employees--one to help take the orders and another to maybe keep it clean in there? The Samosas were very good. It's really nice that I can walk in, order a rice bowl with brown basmati rice, chicken Tika Masala, spinach and chutney and be out in 5 minutes. Service is great, never had an issue. First off, this was our first visit since the pandemic started, and they did a fantastic job following COVID guidelines and safety recommendations. All employees wore masks and gloves- properly- and they made the take-out ordering process quick and easy. As far as the food, this is one of our favorite places to visit when we come to Atlanta. The naan is excellent (I recommend trying the spicy bullet flavored) and the bowls mix a variety of flavors well. This has been a go to spot of mine since my days at GSU. The vegan favorite (lentils, chickpeas, and cauliflower) is so flavorful and hearty. I got the brown rice bowl with added spinach, peppers and onions at no extra cost! The chutneys are soo good but watch out because they really mean spicy hot so I always balance out the hot chutney with the sweet tamarind. You've got to try the samosas too! They are perfect! I adore Atlanta. I love the people, the trees, the urban grit, just the overall electrifying feeling that the city can provide. I hate the serious dearth of Indian food. I mean, I named my dog Tikka. I like Indian food, people. And I can't find the good stuff anywhere nearby. So, needless to say, I was excited for NaanStop to open Downtown. Cheap and quick Indian food served up in easy to-go form? I'm in. I stopped by for a UYE lunch with James H and definitely wasn't disappointed. But just be prepared as it may not be exactly what you're expecting. It's kind of a Chipotle-like set up, where you choose your meat (or tofu/veggies), how you want it served (in a bowl, with rice, in a wrap, etc.), and your toppings. I ordered the chicken tikka masala naanwich and, for $6, it was a hearty (yet messy) serving of deliciousness. Admittedly, in my eyes, it didn't taste a whole lot like chicken tikka masala. The creamy tomato-ness that I love so much was absent, but while the flavor wasn't what I expected, it was delicious. The serving was not too overwhelming but definitely the right size for lunch. It is messy, though, so I wouldn't recommend taking it to go and expecting to eat it at your desk or while walking/driving. Be sure to nab the Yelp check in offer for a free samosa or fries, as the samosa was pretty delish. Sometimes when I talk about naan bread, people with unadventurous palates think I am referring to NON bread. Like bread without carbohydrates. Naturally, they beg me to tell them where I purchase such a thing. Their faces fall when I tell them about this Indian staple, chock-full of the processed grains they strive to avoid. I fully embrace my naan addiction and love tonguing my fiance after I've eaten a piece saturated in garlic and other strong spices. Today I finally tried a naanwich at the cleverly named NaanStop, which offers a sort of build-your-own naanwich/rice bowl/salad bar. Because I couldn't decide between lamb and paneer, the dude behind the station let me pull a half-and-half, also slathering yogurt cilantro sauce and fresh spinach on top. Plus, the cashier told me how to eat my naanwich without getting dirty: hold the naanwich upright and peel the foil back as you go, like a banana. My stomach is rumbling, but my sleeves are still clean! read more

Oh yeah we are bumpin' this up to five. I was asked to come back for naanchos on the house by Neal, owner of Naanstop, so I of course did so. He said that thanks to my feedback they will make naanchos at any time but with the warning that it is a special order and will/can take 15 minutes. YAY although I have to say after last time I do kind of like the nice basic rice bowl option. I have to give five stars now because there is a sort of "wow what jerks" trend going on in the past few weeks when I've gone places so I absolutely love that my feedback here helped to change things around. When we can all have a lovely relationship together as business and customers I really like that. An apology is good (if you can get one at all) but a business finding a way to take your critique/praise and work it into what they do is THE BEST. Did I mention ever how really I was going to try different places every week for lunch during my 2 hour break between classes on Tuesdays? Well I suck at it because it's nearly midpoint of the semester and I've been here half the time. And I know I'll be back next week. For what they are doing here, they do it really well. Is it what we normally think of when we think Indian food? No, but that would be hard to sustain in this area. This, as others have said, is more like fast-food Indian. I had been wanting to try it for awhile and finally found myself downtown with time to spare, so we stopped in. We both had the rice bowls with chicken tikka and the medium spicy chutney. We also split an order of masala fries. Everything was very yummy, and had the expected Indian flavors. I think next time I will go with the "native Indian hot" chutney for more of a punch. Oh, we also had a mango lassi, which was yummy. The place was clean and service was fast and friendly. Today I tried the chili-cilantro chutney (native-Indian hot) and although I'm pretty sure my eyeballs are sweating, it was totally worth it. What a great flavor. Goes awesome with the chicken masala. I suspect it would also go well with the lamb I had the other day, and the other things as well. Soooo gooooood. And it'll really clear out your sinuses! Also pretty freaking good: the samosa. Which is *huge*. Honestly you could probably have just the samosa for lunch and it would be plenty (but there are too many other flavors to experience!). The salad option is also pretty great, and I think goes particularly well with the paneer I'm so happy that NaanStop decided to open their first storefront not just in Atlanta, but in the corner of Atlanta I happen to work in! read more

I've been dying to try this place. It's hard to make it out that way during the workweek, so when I finally had the chance, I wasn't going to let Atlanta's bipolar weather stop me. I found parking two blocks away and braved spring's onslaught of snow and wind to reach Naanstop. Since I'm never over there, and their prices are pretty reasonable, I ordered enough food to provide myself with three days' worth of lunch. It did not disappoint. The garlic naan was incredible, with just the right blend of butter and char from the tandoor. The famed samosa was also quite good. The pastry portion actually tasted homemade, unlike other places, where they use flour tortillas as samosa wrappers. I did blot off the excess oil to feel a little less guilty about my indulgence, but the samosa still tasted great. Since I was planning on leftovers, I ordered two rice bowls: the chicken tikka masala and the lamb curry. Both were on white rice garnished with peppers, onions, coconut mint chutney, and yogurt. They were pretty good. My favorite overall, though, was the garlic naan. Next time I'll need to order one of their wraps to combine that tasty naan with lamb, which was my favorite of the two curries. The meat was super-tender and really flavorful. All in all, I'm glad I got three meals' worth of food out of my order - not bad at all. Looks like I'll be eating Indian NaanStop this week. Ha ha ha. read more

I was conducting some Business downtown Atlanta today and I decided to pay a visit to Broad Street which have some good fast casual restaurant when I came across NaanStop and boy didn't I just hit the jackpot!!! Indian cuisine is one of my favorites and I'm always looking forward to new Indian restaurants. First time and it will be my new go-to sort of spot for fast casual Indian. The restaurant looks modern, clean and very welcoming. I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala over Basmati rice with sauteed onions, Bell peppers and yogurt sauce. Chicken was cooked to perfection, smoky yet tender, juicy and spiced by probably some of the best Masala spices I've had to try yet . The rice had a great texture and aroma and the yogurt sauce had the perfect acidity to balance the hint of "Spicy" in the chicken and all this was for $6.50!!!!! This is the BEST Indian food in Atlanta hands down! The food is beyond amazing and the staff is friendly and absolutely wonderful! I make a point of coming here at least once a week for lunch if i can. Thank you guys, I will be back to try the Curry Lamb. read more

Found this little gem after they started working with Scoutmob. I've never been someone who raves about Indian food, but holy crap this has changed my perception. Upon my first visit, one of the owners, Neal, was working behind the counter (This by the way is one of my favorite things about small businesses). He carefully walked me through every step of my ordering process and made recommendations on what to get. All I can say is: If he offers you his advice, TAKE IT. I had the rice bowl with chicken and would order it a million times again. I'm eager to try the lamb on my next visit. Their samosas have won awards so I don't need to tell you to try these out. Being Indian I know a thing about Indian food since I've been eating it all my life. I had a salad with turkey and chicken and I was not disappointed! the turkey was some of the best turkey I've ever had and the chicken was delicious and had a bit of a smokey flavor. I had some of the hot tea and that was pretty tasty but don't expect it to be like a Starbucks latte, theirs is more subtle and tasty. So I like to pretend my best friend's Indian grandmother is my grandmother. Unfortunately grandma lives in India and doesn't visit as much as I need her to so I rarely get my Indian food fix. When a friend suggested that we grab a quick mid-week lunch at Naan Stop, I was all in. I took the Marta to 5 points and walked about two blocks to Naan Stop. I arrived around 12:15 and there were only about 5 people in line. By 12:30, the line was out the door. Around 1 it settled back down. Naan Stop is a modern take on quick Indian food- think Moe's but Indian. The three bases are naanwhich, rice bowl, or salad. I opted for the rice bowl and my dining companion, Jen J., opted for the naanwhich. We both choose the chicken tikka masala, but I was strongly tempted by the special shrimp tikka masla as well as the Chola. On my rice bowl I added the vegetable medley of onions and peppers as well as yogurt cilantro chutney. I wish that I had also added the apple tamarind chutney because I felt like the tikka masala was missing a little bit of the sweetness that I am used to. Over all I really enjoyed my bowl of Indian goodness. Next time I am going to order the Masala fries and samosas. They both looked seriously delicious. I tasted my dining companion's garlic naan bread and it was tasty I must say. Her naanwhich was a bit messy, but she said it was quite delicious. Naan Stop is absolutely a place I will be coming back to in the near future. Even when the crowd was thick, they were moving people through like rapid fire. The employees are incredibly nice and they help guide you through the ordering process if you are not familiar with Indian delights. Loved it. It's like Subway but Indian food. :-) Yumm. I wish their space was a little bigger, but all in all, the food was awesome. The servers seemed a little gruff and pushy, but the food was really great. I wouldn't suggest the rosewater lemonade. It had that gone-bad bitterness that I can't stand.
