    Spam musubi ($3)

A quick, inexpensive plate lunch, which can be hard to find in Maui! - Saimin ($4.25): Cheaper than McDonald's and Star Noodles and arguable better. We found both of those to be super salty, whereas this one was not. No egg though. 3/5 - Spam musubi ($3): Glad it was fried in some sauce. A little rice heavy, IMO. 3/5 - Chicken katsu ($8.95): Chicken had minimal crunch, unfortunately. Thankful the katsu sauce was in its own container so the chicken didn't lose what little crunchiness it still had. Good mac salad though! 2.5/5 A local hole in the wall. It's very tight inside the deli (limit three people at a time right now), so you may find a line out the door.

    $13 for ALL THIS. :O

I wish we'd found out about Nagasako Okazuya Deli earlier in our trip, but alas! This hole in the wall is dishing up some fresh Hawaiian/Japanese fare and for great value too. We couldn't believe the plate lunch was only $13 for a generous serving of pork adobo, two scoops of fresh rice, and one scoop of macaroni salad. Their mac salad was probably one of the better versions I had on my trip as well. We also snagged a couple of spam musubis and two pieces of fried chicken (thighs) for our beach picnic. Best idea ever. In total, we spent less than $25 for a meal that could easily feed 2. Nagasako's musubi was way fresher than any other we'd previously tasted (we'd purchased some from the grocery store across the street to compare). I loved that we were supporting a local mom and pop shop. The next time my friends ask for recommendations in the area, I will definitely be sending them here.

Absolutely love their spam musubi and this comes from a person who is typically grossed out by spam. It could be the mixture of the rice and spam but it is just so darn good! I make it a point to always stop by each time I'm in Maui and buy the spam musubi to bring it to the beach as a snack. This time around I also ordered the Khalbi combo which was marinated perfectly and was very flavorful. But the clear winner for me will always be the spam musubi!

Nagasako Okazuya is located in the Lahaina Shopping Center across of Foodland. Next to it, is the Nagasako General Store Due to Covid, only three customers are allowed in at a time. Stop by the Okazuya to build a plate lunch with mac salad or corn as sides. You walk in to see freshly made spam musubis, containers of pre- packed food, and a display of their daily offerings. You can customize your plate with a variety of local favorites such as breaded teriyaki, shoyu chicken, hot dogs, roasted pork, chow fun noodles, chicken katsu, chinese sausage, and many more. The Okazuya offers daily specials and you can also order pans of food to go. I love to stop here for breakfast. You can build a breakfast combo with rice, hashbrowns, portuguese sausage, sausage links, bacon, and scrambled eggs or pickup a ready to grab containers of fried rice with scrambled eggs and breakfast meat. Their shoyu chicken is my favorite plate lunch! The Okazuya is just off of Front Street so we like to pickup breakfast then find a spot to eat on Front Street to look out at the ocean. I always grab a couple spam musubis for later in the day. They open at 630 am and there is typically a line. Don't let that scare you, the line moves quickly. Definitely worth a stop to get some good local food.

Great place to stop by for a fast, cheap, and delicious lunch but can't say it's the best thing we ate on our trip. The highlight was probably the shoyu chicken - so flavorful and tender. However this is a deli where you pick up your food and go so you'll have to stand outside and eat your food or find somewhere else to eat

Haven't been here in years. Prices are still affordable. Food looked great at the display case. Chicken katsu was great with the sauce. The sauce was quite sweet which I liked. I did not like the Chow Fun. It was plain and hardly had vegetables. I could hardly taste any sesame oil. It was so plain and unappetizing. It was a good thing I got there before 12pm. Once I got inside, a long line formed behind the person that was directly behind me. Ladies at the counter were friendly and kept the line moving efficiently. I'd try their other plate lunches but I won't be getting the Chow Fun again.

2 chicken thighs and 2 scoops of mac salad!

Yummy fried chicken and Mac salad were the only two items that I ordered but let me tell you.... That was some crispy fried chicken and if I wasn't watching my calories, I would have ordered at least 2 more scoops of mac salad. Sadly, I had to share with my husband. What a good first impression this deli had on us! We'll definitely be back. Service was quick. You order at the counter. No seating inside.

Since we were on this side of the island so early, what better place to stop for breakfast! Everything in the restaurant looked and smelled delicious but we took two plates to go and some extra hash browns. Enjoying this delicious breakfast at a near by beach was a perfect beginning to the day. Mahalo aunties for this delicious morning

Good place to grab some food to go to enjoy on the beach. Their shoyu chicken is so ono! Just Go early because once they sell out the. You are outta luck.

This deli and plate lunch takeout spot is a terrific local gem located right across from Foodland in Lahaina. The line out the door was 6 deep when we arrived on a weekday at 11 am. The staff were very courteous and efficient, with a changing station of hot food options to choose from as they make your plate lunch, along with a self-serve tower of spam musubi's. The deli also has assorted drinks and some snacks, with more available in the general store next door. We really enjoyed their shoyu chicken (carmelized skin with the right amount of saltiness), fried chicken (crispy and well seasoned) and spam musubi (which were all fresh). We plan to come back to hopefully try some of their other menu options over the next several days!

Support your local mom & pop old school deli restaurants. I love these type of places because you get that authentic home cooked style meal. The food is buffet style so no waiting to get your food. I ordered the Shoyu chicken, rice, macaroni salad, and chow fun and all of it was delicious. We walked over to the beachside and sat on the sidewalk wall to enjoy our lunch.

    Roast pork, my favortie
    Sabrina W.

We've been on Maui for six weeks, and this is the best plate lunch place we had. And there's no seating and you have to take your food to go. We tried to shoyu chicken and roast pork, both were delicious, season perfectly and super super tender. I personally prefer the roast pork more than the chicken. Portions were huge so we didn't have enough room to try anything else. You must get their gravy over rice... it's not too salty and just savory goodness. Please stop by here if you're in the area. It's better than most restaurants around here.

Very casual service. We ordered: Mahi Mahi Lemon Caper Sautée: 1/10 The fish just tasted extremely bland not fresh tough and the lemon sauce just made it wet but added in no flavor as well. Rice was mushy tasted overcooked Mac salad was decent but not the traditional Mac salad flavor. Kung Pao Chicken: 2/10 Small pieces of chicken mostly fried so very little chicken this dish had a good amount of flavor because it was sweet. Chicken and shrimp fried rice: 1/10 Rice was so mushy quality and freshness is just not there. Overall this was not our best meal in Maui I had seen the mixed reviews and wanted to give it a try unfortunately I would no eat here again just because it was not just one dish that lacked quality freshness and flavor it was everything I ordered.

So actually the mochi is not really a mochi. It is a pastry that has mochi in the middle. And it's not taro. It's ube. So they have Hawaiian ube donut (sugar covered balls) 2/3.00 or regular Hawaiian donuts. They also have the ube mochi pastry and they have these huge ube breads. Honestly, I didn't like any of them. The big breaded thing was too Bready, the mochi pastry was a little much dairy taste, and the ube Hawaiian donut balls didn't taste like anything except a regular donut that was purple... the dragon fruit smoothie we had which was plant based was too sweet. If you order that, and you don't like it too sweet, I would ask them to make it half as sweet. So, we were all in all a little disappointed as we were hoping to find some good Hawaiian treats but I guess we can try another place.
