Came here cuz its close to my crib and the prices are super cheap. They don't ever start on time but because its a small shop so if you are in a rush, I wouldn't suggest coming here. I've been here a couple times already and have been trying to hide the fact that I am Vietnamese because I like dropping in their conversations. Then the most recent time I went, the lady asked me if I was Japanese and I responded to her in Vietnamese and it totally freaked her out. I felt so bad. Then she responded with: "Good thing I said only nice things about you in Vietnamese!" Haha. After that it was all over. They told me I was like family and I should come into the shop to hang out with them sometimes or if I ever wanted good Vietnamese food, let them know and they can pick it up for me. Love them! Very good $10 manicure (will be $12 after the new year). Called about an hour in advance and made an appointment for a mani for me and a pedi for a friend. The friend is often in this area and recommend the place. This seems like a cheap and quality place to return to if I am around, especially because the staff is so nice and the store dog so adorable. read more

They care about what they do and you can call and make an appointment or walk in (obviously some days/times busier so may need to wait). I have been going for several years now, couldn't be happier. I'm just here visiting SF, but found found this place while walking through the neighborhood...what great luck! Nali and Jenny gave me a mani-pedi at a great price. They were so sweet too! We laughed and told stories together, but they did tell me that they don't always converse with the customers because some customers don't like it. They get their cues from the customer, so if you pop in and want to chat, be sure to strike up the conversation first. The prices were so good that I even got my brows waxed. Decent pedicure. Their massage chairs are decent and service was pretty good. Although I usually do not use this nail salon, it was decent for a last minute choice. Naly (the owner) is the sweetest. She remembers everyone who ever visits her salon, even by name. I was pleasantly surprised when on my 3rd or so visit, she already knew my name and when I tend to come! Today I had a late appointment with one of her employees, and she clocked out while my toes were being dried. Naly checked on my toes, got the little details that I didn't notice taken care of, and when I accidentally put on my flip flops too fast and messed up one toenail, took so much time and care to make sure it was redone just right! I offered her extra tip but she insisted on not taking it saying, " I just want you to be happy!" Thank you so much, Naly. Not my regular spot but I hopped in for a quick mani/pedi because I was in need. These ladies are really nice and had their mix of "regulars" there that I could tell they treat well, which is always a good sign. Not a lot of frills here, just a quick cheap spot but they do a good job. It's been 2 weeks and I finally took off the mani because my nails grew out but it didn't even chip. I repeat: 2 weeks, no chipping. That's amazing. And the pedi is still looking good! read more

The worst experience I have ever had at a nail salon! They started taking off my gel, but then when a regular came in, they completely stopped and began doing her pedicure??? My hands had been soaking in acetone for half an hour. The lady had a lot of trouble getting off the polish (even though it easily comes off when I go to other nail salons) and began hacking at my nails with a pumice. She made my nails so weak and brittle, and was condescending to me the entire time. Since they took so long, I had to leave so I didn't even have my nails painted. They still charged me after this awful experience. My nails still had specks of polish on them (since she did a bad job with the removal), and my cuticles had not been cleaned up. I went back to my regular nail salon the following week, and they let me know that one of my nails were broken (thanks to Nail Pretty). I will most definitely not be returning! read more

This is going to be my new favorite mani/pedi go-to place from now on. We just moved to the neighborhood couple of month ago, and this is 2 blocks from where we live. Both of the ladies are so friendly, funny and accommodating. They treated me like I was their friend, and not a customer who is just there to get their treatment and leave. They really want to do everything to make me want to come back. And I will! They do a wonderful job on your feet. And trust me, I'm very hard to please when it comes to pedicures. Not too crazy about this place for acrylic nails. My nails turned out uneven, lumpy, thick, and very unnatural looking. Very frustrating after spending so much time in there. They are very nice and the place is fairly clean but I would skip this place for acrylics. They looked somewhat ok inside but once outside in natural light, it looked like a little kid did them or I did them myself. The paint job was also really lacking but she was so sweet and really wanting to please, I didn't have the heart to keep correcting her or let her know. "I feel pretty, oh so pretty..." I adore this place. I don't know why it took so long for me to come back. I first came in here to get my eye brows done and they did an impeccable job with just a clean up and shape. Unlike some places that feel like they have to "style" your brows. They kept my natural shape and just cleaned it up, paid attention to the details using the tweezers and offered suggestions for up keep. Usually Nail Pretty is out of the way for me, granted it's around the corner from where my BF works - Laurel Heights isn't my usual haunts for a day out. But oh how things have changed. Tranquility is my spot downtown near work, but Nail Pretty is definitely my go to place. The place is quaint, typical mom and pop nail salon operation - but the ladies are all friendly and uber funny. I pulled my usual silent but observing afternoons, listening in on the conversation I totally understood but played dumb too. They even talked about me in Viet, but you know for the service they provided and care they gave my toes. It was a great afternoon. I love the French Manicure they do on toes here, decent thickness for the line all done by free hand and it LASTS! The pink hasn't faded and shine still glowing. The attention I got on cuticles, and trust me my feet was crying for a pedicure was uber great. Shape was nice, she knew to keep my nails a little longer to have them stay square but filed enough where it's not digging into shoes. Cleaned underneath the nails thoroughly and really cleaned at the dead skin, even buffed away the discolored part of the nail from dark colors. She made a point to prep my nails for the french I wanted. You don't get people who care like that often. And again, I got my brows done - although different girl (same girl who did my toes) - and same excellent results. Gotta love a place where everyone does a good job. Service is quick and the customers all seem like they're usuals, which is a great sign, made me feel comfortable. The ladies weren't pretentious and didn't make hard upsales or make their business out to be more then it is. Which is reliable, consistent and relaxing customer care. It's a neighborhood spot, with ladies who care for their neighborhood clients. Add in some Viet gossip and silly girl laughter, with a killer pedicure - you got me at Pretty. Sidenote - seriously pedicure at 22+2 for a french manicure - that's an awesome deal. Even the combo, 30 for mani/pedi is unbeatable. read more

I came in here while on business in SF and was hoping for a simple shellac. When I walked in there were 5 women working and one client. I though, great, not too busy--should be a nice in and out. Ambiance: - this place is clearly a 'regulars' kind of spot, so if you aren't, be prepared to receive less attention to detail - this is the first salon I've been to where the shellac colors are not offered on a display ring, instead I had to basically guess the color through the dark shellac bottles along the wall--not ideal Service itself: - after the woman did the last seal on my nails I noticed TWO black fur hairs on separate nails. I brought this up to the nail tech who gave my nails a strange look and shook her head, followed by blatantly lying to my face that the hair was actually black nail polish that wouldn't come off. Please--no need to redo the entire nail, just take off a couple bucks, or do another coat. Don't lie about it. - took about 75 minutes start to finish - incredibly pathetic massage, like a limp noodle handshake - when I went to pay, my nail tech kept whispering to me to put in a number higher than 30 on the card reader. Very confusing...I think she wanted me to plug in the tip amount on top of the $30 service as I didn't have much cash on me. Needless to say, I won't ever waste my money here again. read more

Had some time to kill and my toe polish was chipped so I tried this place today. Lesson learned...I will never again go anywhere but Silk. This place sucked. $21 plus tip is not cheap enough for a crap ass pedi. Seriously. Spend an extra $9 and go to Silk for the pest spa pedi ever! The water in the spa chair got cold very quickly and the lady started clipping my nails without my consent (at Silk they ask you whether you want them clipped or filed before they start). She did an okay job filing and I didn't bleed (you don't get extra stars for that) but she gave me a two minute two bit massage with cold lotion (at Silk the lotion is warm and they give you a lengthy and fabulous massage from calf to toe). Finally the polish job was just okay except that she did not put my sandals on before she started and I nicked the polish when I put them on (ahem, need I mention that Silk puts your sandals on before they polish so you don't run into this problem?). Needless to say I've already removed my polish and can't wait to schedule an appointment with Silk. What a waste of money. On a side note they do yak in Vietnamese but that part doesn't bother me because I like to read the trashy magazines. One star for convenience, availability and a so-so job. If I could give Silk 10 stars I would! read more

If you're a guy and don't mind a little hedonism this is one of San Francisco's hidden gems. Settle back into one of the brand new Spa/Massage chairs, switch on the multidimensional Massage, let the whirling water relax your feet and ankles and relax into pure pleasure. It's fun to hear the other customers express their frustration over their men's reluctance to try Nail Pretty. I go there for regular pedicures and wonderful foot massages at prices which are shamefully low considering the pampering. My feet look and feel great and no painful ingrown nails. When Naly and the ladies do their magic I feel like I'm walking on air. If more guys allowed themselves this little indulgence every once in a while we'd probably never have gone into Iraq. read more
