I am teetering between 3 and 4 stars, so, in a rare event, and since I am the Duke of this place, I'll throw in the extra star to make it 4. I've been here twice. The first time I came it was insanely busy and they are so understaffed, but the guy waiting on us was busting his ass to take care of the dining room that was at capacity. We actually had to wait for about 10 or 15 minutes to get a table. But our server was great and apologetic. Just went again today. It was probably about 30% capacity which was nice because we got a table right off the bat. Had a really nice server again, some woman, I just wish that people would start taking these stupid masks off because they're irritating and 100% ineffective. So I've ordered spring rolls twice. I don't remember them the first time, but I remember them today, and they're okay. It was the pork and shrimp spring rolls. Good size, rolled a little loose, and the peanut sauce is less viscous than other places, but again, it was okay. After years of eating at probably 40 to 50+ phò places around the country, I believe today is a very first day I only ordered a small bowl. I typically always get the deluxe, but didn't want to gorge myself so I just ordered the small tripe and tendon phò. My boy had the rare steak. So the deluxe, the first time I had was pretty good that I can remember. But this time, I don't know if they have a different cook today, but the broth was super super good. The tendon was absolutely perfect, and the tripe was excellent. One thing that bums me out, as you can talk for my picture, is that they only have hoisin sauce, soy sauce, and sriracha. No chili oil, no chili paste, and no fish sauce. Those are super important at least to me when I go to a phò spot. There's another restaurant I want to try, but have never been opened every time I've gone there, but this place is always decent and always a surefire that I'm going to get something delicious, with great service. My son also got the boba ice that has those little boba balls that pop in your mouth. Not really my thing, but I tried a little bit of his and it was okay, but they do have a pretty extensive boba drink methodology and menu. I'd recommend this place, even for just a quick drop in lunch. And if I'm ever shopping around and super hungry, I'll be back. read more

Great place if you're looking to order for take out or enjoy a local dine in. Food and tea taste amazing, and the service is perfect. I ordered take out over the phone for lunch. I got the tofu pad thai and a thai tea with Boba. Total came out to $16, which is what I usually pay for a lunch like this. I did pay $20 to give a decent tip because the staff was so nice and courteous. I was greeted to stand by the register and wait to be charged. She read off my order so I knew she had it right and took my payment, no problem. Then she guided me to the end of the counter and another worker asked what utensils I needed and if I'd like any sauce or napkins. They handed me my items and I was on my way. The pad thai was so good, they put plenty of fish sauce and peanuts for a good flavor, and the tofu was cooked to perfection. The only thing that would make it better is if there was a slice of lime to add some more tang. The thai tea was also delicious, I think the tea was a bit strong for my liking, but it was still good nonetheless. Recently I've been going, and there's a waitress there who is extremely rude. I kept going back because the food was so good, but this last time I went she got my order wrong and proceeded to be rude and get mad at myself and my dad, then brought the check. I have been to this place a few times before and usually I enjoy the food here. As far as the boba... they are okay. Before the bubble tea stations and newer boba shops opened , this was my go to spot so I would not have to drive all the way to the mall just to get boba. But now you will find myself at the Bubble Tea Station by the Sparks Marina for my boba. Yesterday I stopped in to get something to eat and get my boba fix since I just finished shopping at Michaels. I ordered a Honey Milk Tea boba and the Chicken Pad Thai. The boba was delivered quickly but my first cup actually cracked and spilled all over me, luckily they made me a brand new one. To be honest.. it was alright and definitley not my favorite. To me at least, it was very sweet and I think it was because of the amount of honey you can taste in the drink (I also got a large). It really is not a big deal for me , as I just wanted to try something new, but I will just get a regular milk tea. The reason why I would not give them a full 4 to 5 star, is because of the "Chicken Pad Thai" I received. I guess I just expected a more authentic Pad Thai, but I felt so disappointed once I opened my to go box. First the noodles were way off, pretty sure it was thin rice noodle ( like in the filipino dish Pancit) and it was all mushed together so It kinda displeasing for me to eat. All of it was not mixed together either or just not enough sauce because I was just eating plain noodles after a few bites . Just overall my Pad Thai craving was not satisfied at all and I was very disappointed. BUT, from past experiences besides yesterday, I have had actually good food here like their Pho and spring rolls. Omg! My momma and I have been coming here for YEARS! When we first moved up to Spanish Springs there was nothing! New house developments were rare. Walmart in sparks wasn't even built! I remember coming here with my mom for boba after school when the school bus dropped me off. I since have visited 2x since, I had oral surgery and got pho here and just today! They came out quick n hot 5/5 and a good dipping sweet n sour sauce. The pho was very good and the broth was on point. A very big bowl for only 11.75. The food is a solid 4. Love the food have been coming here since I was in high school. However, being a business owner myself I'm big on costumer service and that is why I had to give it a 1. From the moment I walked in the older lady was rude and seemed bother by my presence. I was dining in by myself and she stated I could sit anywhere. I sat at a table away from everyone so I could focus on some work things and she then signaled me like a dog to sit at a small table closer to the crowd hahaha. This is a very consistent pho restaurant. I have tried other things on the menu but they were not very good (like the broccoli beef and pan noodles). The price is very reasonable and they provide large portions for the pho. The staff is always friendly and I can tell they work really hard. I love noodles, especially on a cold day! And whenever I'm craving pho, I come here. For $7, I really can't complain much. Sometimes this place can be a hit or a miss. If you come in too late, their broth gets really watery, and that's a bummer. But most of the time I eat here for lunch, and it hits the spot. I love getting their wonton pho with chicken broth. It's usually not too salty, and that's something I appreciate. I also like their shrimp spring rolls. When it comes to Pho, I believe there are a lot of great options in the Reno/Sparks area, which makes us noodle-lovers a bit pickier than usual. Nam Van is not the BEST Pho in town, but it's a pretty good standby for the neighborhood. We came for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Their Chinese lunch specials are valid even on the weekends (sweet!), but on a chilly fall day, we had our sights set on soup. We started with the spring rolls. Though not as tightly wrapped as some others I've had, all the usual suspects were included: cucumber, lettuce, rice noodles, pork, and shrimp enclosed in rice paper served with a yummy chili sauce. I'm accustomed to a peanut sauce with spring rolls, so I was missing that a little, but still good nonetheless. To drink, we got a Vietnamese iced coffee as well as an Avocado Boba Snow (like a smoothie.) The iced coffee was, again, not served as usual (with that metal contraption that slowly drips the fresh coffee into the condensed milk) - it was pre-made. Still tasty though. The Boba was solid and as good as elsewhere. I got the combo bun (rice noodle bowl) with beef, shrimp, and egg roll. While they forgot the eggroll, both the beef and shrimp were cooked perfectly. Tasty bowl of food, but a bit underwhelming at about $11. Other Vietnamese places serve quite a bit more food for that price. My sister got a small bowl of Pho with Rare Beef and added veggies to round it out. The veggies and beef were excellent. However, what should've been the star of the dish - the broth - was disappointing. It did not have the umami and depth of flavor that Pho should. It was salty and warming, but the whole thing reminded me more of a Wonton soup instead of a great Pho bowl. Overall, I like this place and would come again if I was in the area. However, I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Lucky for us, the Pho market here is competitive! read more

Totally love this quaint and petite little restaurant. The kitchen can not be that big. The amount of items that are on the menu at this restaurant are phenomenal. They have such a wide range of items not only in food but in drink. They have Boba and Popping Boba, flavored milks, what they call Icy's, Smoothies a large variety of hot and cold teas. My favorite is Shrimp Pho with rice noodles. I love the flavor of the broth I do however add a little Hoison to the broth. If you ask for it they will give you a small portion in a plastic container. The employees at this location are wonderfully kind, thoughtful and knowledgeable about their menu. I love the location too. A small order is more than enough to feed me. I have shared a small order of Spring Rolls and shared it. That is how big the rolls. If you want chopsticks or need a soup spoon they have those to go too. I had a sudden urge for a date night with Wifey. We decided to go to this new place called Nam Van Noodle Cafe because she wanted something that was gluten free or at least low starch. She said she had been here before so I figured I would give it try. They advertised Pho on the menu and I had never had it so I figured I would see what all the hype was about. She ordered Stir-fried tofu with rice noodles. Not much flavor in anything. The tofu was about as bland as it gets, despite a nice flies coating. Wifey had to douse it with the sauces that came on the side to have any flavor at all. She asked for sweet chili sauce and they never understood what she was asking for.... Really??? So, on to the Pho. As this was my first experience, I didn't know what to expect so I ordered the combination Pho, which comes with rare steak, brisket, meatballs and some other kind of beef by-product, with egg noodles. The meats varied in consistency, from tough brisket to meatballs with the texture of mountain oysters. The flavor of the soup was just meh. We were a large table and me and my Pho's sister were sitting across from each other. No way to share! We asked for a second plate and the waitress just hated us. We never got the second plate but we were charged for extra sides. $1.25 is not much; however, we never got it!!! Pot stickers are delicious and lychee icy is amazing! It actually tastes like lychees!! I have a pork and shrimp vermicelli bowl. To add the shrimp, the price was $3 more than the por vermicelli bowl; for those $3, I got 3 shrimps! Seriously, $1 per shrimp??? That will not be happening ever again! I can't speak for the whole menu of this restaurant as I order basically the same thing every time with either the crispy noodles, pho, or pad thai, but I have never been disappointed. Who doesn't love a good noodle dish! I love their pad thai! It is not quite traditional as you would order at a Thai restaurant, but it has a sweet and savory flavor, noodles are not dry and for only $8 for giant plate of noodles, how could you go wrong. The staff there is very friendly and you receive service right away upon entering the restaurant. I didn't wait longer than 15 minutes to get my food once I ordered. This restaurant is located in the shopping center of Ulta and Best Buy so there is ample parking, which is always a plus. You don't want to be hangry and then be more upset about not being able to get food because of parking. Delicious! Hit the spot with the food and the Vietnamese coffee and the service were superb. The waitress explained the menu and the flexibility they had. They can pretty much make anything! No banh mi sandwiches but the pho was great and they have an awesome tea, coffee and smoothie selection. As a vegetarian it's nice to have a menu that spells out the veggie selection and addresses the question about having a vegetarian broth. :) There were so many choices I wish I was hungrier. I always forget to take a picture here because I just eat my food so fast because it's delicious. Typically we go here for Boba, crispy chicken (with extra basil) & potstickers. You can pick how spicy you want the chicken and potstickers, we usually get "medium". They are really quick and their boba is one of our favorites in town, we usually get the mango snow with boba. They are closed from 3p-4p so just be aware of that. We will continue to come here! read more
