We had the restaurant week menu and the marinated short ribs (added $10) which tasted better than the NY strip which was dry and chewy. They had side dishes for us. I came here for a birthday dinner on a Wednesday night with a group of 9 people. This place was not in K-Town so it's not crowded which was great. We ordered the Onggijonggi which originally is for 5-6 people but we were able to do it for 9 people. It was a good deal since we were able to try a lot of different meats (pork belly, pork shoulder, spicy pork, marinated kalbi, NY strip, flat iron steak). It also came with 2 appetizers (seafood pancake/cheese corn), army stew, and vegetables (sweet potato, asparagus, mushroom, peppers, onions). The best meat was the marinated kalbi. At the end of the meal, you can toast marshmallows which was cute. The service was really good and helpful. They even gave us an ice cream with a birthday candle at the end which was nice. We moved into the building above Nangman at the start of September and it somehow took six weeks for us to finally check out this sleek, cozy looking Korean BBQ spot. Dropping in on a Tuesday evening, we got a seat right away. The tables are set up with grills and vents (it IS a BBQ focused restaurant) but we decided on individual dishes (japchae, soft tofu stew, and a scallion pancake to share) Service is quick and friendly, dropping off the scallion pancake in a flash. The pancake wasn't too greasy, and had plenty of nearly caramelized scallions in the folds The japchae noodles were cooked well and packed with vegetables in a flavourful sauce. The tofu stew had just enough bite, with the morsels of seafood (shrimp, mussels) just tender enough. Our dishes came with three banchan (side dishes): kimchi, pickled radish, spicy leeks. We ordered Neorangnarne signature menu for two. Lots of food , lots of meat, lots of sides. All incredibly delicious and flavorful. Cooked directly in front of you which I absolutely loved. We enjoyed the beef, short, ribs, ribeye shoulder . With some delicious sides of pumpkins, onion, sweet potatoes, grilled peppers, mushrooms, cucumbers, pickled radish, kimchi and some cucumber wraps. Make sure when you head out to this restaurant you are nice and hungry, because they will feed you.... The quality of the meat was everything. We were disappointed on our family Christmas dinner for four. We ordered 2 orders of beef bulgogi and it came in one plate. Asked the waiter where's our second order and he said they combined into one. That doesn't look like a two order being $54 per order and came with just one steam rice. We asked where's the other bowl of rice and he said they are in mid of cooking it. Since that plate was so little, we ordered a steak and it came out tasteless and hard to chew. I came here for a friends birthday on evening and had a good time. We ordered the DoranDoran as it accommodated 3-4 people and got some soju as well. It comes with an appetizer and 5 different meats. We had the nachos as the appetizer and it was pretty good. You can only have so much before it gets soggy so we made sure to eat it quick as we drank the soju. The meat was flavorful but I felt like the portions weee a little small to accommodate 4 people. I would say it probably accommodates to 3 as we all left still hungry. There also seemed to be a beach theme in the restaurant. It gave off Hawaii vibes. Nangman BBQ has a very extensive menu. You can do KBBQ where you grill your own meats or have prepared food served to you. Since we were on a time crunch to make it to the airport, we decided to get items off the lunch menu. I got a bulgogi burger, and it was very good. The beef patty was well done but juicy. Bulgogi was topped on the burger patty, and it was flavorful and tender. The sunny side up egg had the perfect drippy yolk. The side of fries were bomb like Kennebec fries, and I loved the side of kimchi mayo. Our server brought out a couple of banchan including kimchi and pickled radishes, which were totally fine. I stopped by here tonight, they offered me a seat outside at first. I checked it out until I saw it had no grill, who comes to a korean bbq without a grill? That defeats the purpose. That'll be a no for me dawg. So after waiting 15 mins I get seated inside. They give me a menu and the waitress walks away. I quickly decide what I want. She is just standing around at the other side of the restaurant not doing anything. I keep trying to wave her down, but nobody came for 15-20 minutes. Eventually I get the manager to come over and take the order. A new waitress comes with the food and soda. As I'm eating, the manager leaves the restaurant to go home while the rest of the staff is still working.. sheesh. Nangman is a super fun, clean, and aesthetically awesome place to eat. The food is much higher quality than other Korean BBQ places I've been to and the service is amazing. They literally have some of the friendliest servers in the city and they were incredibly patient and kind with my kids which I appreciated so much. They also taught all of us how to proper use the condiments and pickled vegetables (like making a radish "taco") which was really nice and cool of them. My only complaint is that I wish they offered some more marinated options for the meats. Some of the meat didn't even taste seasoned, which overall ended up working out OK because of the vast selection of extras/condiments that you could eat along with it, but it would've been nice. For starters we ordered the tofu salad, fried beef dumplings (5 per order), vegetable japchae and the veggie scallion pancake. The tofu salad was massive and had a great dressing, the dumplings were very tasty, the japchae was delicious and the scallion pancake was enjoyable. I would order them all again and with the exception of the dumplings (which were a normal portion), each was a massive serving. For my entree I tried the spicy pork stir fry bowl. It was superb, extremely flavorful and perfectly spicy and again a good sized serving. I tried a couple pieces of meat from the bbq others at our table ordered and while the meat was cooked nicely, it was lacking in flavor. It is nice that they cook everything for you though. The service was great and the food came out quickly. This is one of the few spots in NYC where you really get your moneys worth in terms of portion size. For the choice of stew that came with it we had the beef soft tofu stew, which was good/spicy. Liked the pickled accompaniments for the BBQ (radishes etc) though usually there are more of those small dishes with Korean BBQ. Had to order rice separately. The pitcher of soju cocktail was very sweet (mixed with passionfruit); personally would get something different next time but one friend liked it. Ambiance of the place was very cute & colorful. The "glamping" mentions I think come from the floors that look like pebbles and the greenery at the ceiling. We went very early for dinner (5, to avoid crowds) but weren't rushed by staff at all though it got crowded (and quite smoky) later on. Service was good & unobtrusive, server mainly came over to cook the meat. Had mentioned it was a belated bday celebration for my friend but staff didn't do anything for that. Food: this is my favorite Korean barbecue in the city. They are a step up on quality as compared to your typical Korean barbecue spot. They cook everything for you and the portions are generous. Be ready to eat a lot of meat. Service: typically a slow start to a meal but once they start cooking for you then everything after that is quick. Getting drinks isn't typically very quick. Ambiance: medium sized restaurant that is easy to get a table. I can usually just walk in and get a table within 15 minutes. Went here with a large group of friends on a Thursday night. It wasn't particularly busy though it took a long time for our waiter to come over to us. He was nice though and eventually gave us what we asked for. It did seem like they were a bit understaffed as there were only two servers that night and they seemed to be struggling to keep up. The food was mostly solid. Nothing spectacular. Most of the meats lacked flavor except for one though I can't recall which one. We ended up getting two of the "Onggijonggi" which included an assorted array of meat and appetizers. The duck was quite oily and not big fan. The nice decor and theme (camping in the Catskills?) seemed to make up for the location on the western periphery of manhattan's Korea town. Sadly the fairly high priced menu skimps on some traditional Korean elements (no banchan??) while the narrow offerings are below par. Service seemed strained, with the majority of the staff aside from the lead waiter/bartender seemingly not familiar with K-BBQ. Meat asked to be medium was chewy, and the accompanying vegetables were raw after the waiter turned off the flame prematurely and walked away. It made me miss the grannies at Kunjip. Drinks are limited to alcohol and bottled water. All in all you can have a far superior Korean bbq experience a few blocks up and east. If Nangman BBQ leans into the camping theme a little more (a s'mores dessert Banchan perhaps rather than hastily wrapped marshmallows and no time frame to use them,) and improves the quality of food and perhaps more importantly the quality of service, this could be a winning four star locale. The best tasting meat was the marinated beef. The samgyeopsal with the veggies was good as well. I wish the ribeye would have been served last because it was just plain and I would have preferred it last so I had more room for the better meats. The quality of all of the meats was really good. Also, I didn't like the onion salad in the beginning. I would have preferred a Korean salad like they have at other k bbq places in Texas. This place is great. The staff is so kind and attentive. They literally do everything for you, from placing it in the grill to even cutting it. My partner likes his meat as bloody as possible and they did not disappoint. The waitress gave us some pointers on what meat would taste best with the combination of sauces and other stuff like Kimchi. We opted for a dish that was $120 for two people. It came with ribeye and a bunch of other stuff. We walked out FULL. I got a pomegranate Soja. I had never had Soja before, and I didn't know what to expect. It was ok, I wouldn't get it again - but that's just because of my own preference. There was nothing wrong with the drink! They have a nice variety of beers and wine too. Also... the place is so lovely. There is so much attention to detail going on with the design, presentation of food, and taste.
