Napkins did not disappoint while I was in town for my annual Napa trip. We were seated promptly and shocked to see they had a prefixed menu for resturant month. i typically come the first week in December so seeing resturant month was new for me. We were super exited to see this because the items we were already going to order was on that menu so we both got the 2-course selection. For my cocktail I ordered the Fall old fashioned, the way they paired by two favorite things...Fall and an old fashioned cocktail was spectacular. For my first course I ordered the Creole shrimp as my appetizer and it was served with a nice portion of shrimp in a delectable creole sauce and some bread. On to the main attraction, the star of the show...a generous portion of braised short rib! When I'm in Napa I always find myself ordering short rib and it's always so good! We decided to have one more drink that was served smoked and presented in a cage...presentation and flavor 5/5! A flawless 10/10 anniversary celebration at Napkins! We chose Napa for our 30th wedding anniversary looking for incredible food, patio seating, and a dog-friendly atmosphere. Napkins delivered on all fronts. Our server, Samantha, greeted us with a warm, caring attitude and provided superb service throughout the evening--even bringing water and a chicken breast for our pup! The food was spectacular. We started with piping hot calamari, steamed mussels, and cornbread. For entrees, the habanero chicken with citrus sauce was perfectly executed, and the braised short rib was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Exceptional service, fantastic atmosphere, and delicious food. Indecisive about where to have dinner for a date night and found Napkins Bar and Grill! As soon as we entered, the hostess was really nice in greeting us. We were a bit early for our dinner reservation but was seated upon walking in which was great considering it was a Saturday night and was pretty busy. The food was absolutely delicious and we didn't need to wait long to be served. The ambiance was laid back, yet romantic. Let's talk about the CRAB CAKE.. YUM!!! The food here was delicious and our server was very sweet and attentive. We had the calamari for appetizers, and it tasted fresh and light like the calamari I've had in Barcelona. My grilled salmon with beurre blanc was absolute perfection. I really had low expectations but was blown away. The others tried the burger with fries, salad with steak, and the special was lobster ravioli. Holy cannoli, the lobster ravioli. They were huge and stuffed with lobster meat. This place definitely did not skimp out on anything. The garlic parm fries were also the fan fave of the night. We all were satisfied with dinner and all agreed that we have unfinished business with the baked Brie on the menu! Cannot wait to return next time we're in Napa. Came here for my friend's birthday lunch! It was a Saturday at noon and not nearly as busy as I thought it would be. We sat inside. It was a hot day but dark inside (which I like) and they had the a/c blasting. It was a wee bit too much for me but I'm known to get cold so I had a lil jacket and was fine. The service was lovely. I got the brisket sandwich with a side of fries. The sandwich was very filling and honestly one half was enough for me but I ate the whole thing in preparation for our subsequent wine tasting. Sandwich was 8/10. The fries were 10/10. Skinny. Hot. Seasoned so well. And came with this delicious creamy sauce to dip them in (along with the ketchup). We have dined at Napkins many times. We prefer the bar area for casual dining but have also sat both indoors and outdoors. I am always observant as to how kind the staff are. From the very first visit we noticed it. The place looks amazing with the layout, modern art deco, and lighting. It's adjacent to the downtown area closer to the waterfront area--and honestly, my favorite restaurant there. I always order the Mezcal infused Fume drink that comes in a glass box container. Once you open it, smoke or fumes come out revealing your perfectly made drink. So impressive and I love opening it up every time. The food items are generous and cooked to perfection. My wife loves their salads, which you can add protein or salmon. On this Mother's Day trip, I ordered the Brisket Sandwich. It came with frites style French Fries. You don't even have to ask for condiments as they were thoughtful to add small cups on your plate. Very filling with delicious, tender ciabatta bread. Amazing staff, we came to Napa for a wine tasting and decided to walk around Napa downtown. After strolling for an hour or so, we decided to dine in the area. It's a Saturday night and down town Napa was bustling with people. We walked up to Napkins Bar and Grill to check out their menu. Everything sounds good. So, we walked in and the hostess asked if we have reservations, which we didn't. The manager was able to make accommodations for the 6 of us. We came here as it was highly recommended place. Entering Napkins, we were greeted right away. At first we asked to sit at the table but we eventually migrated to the bar. Sitting at the bar, I was able to see how well the bartender took care of his customers. He was super sweet and checked in all of his customer frequently. Coming to the end of our dinner, I see how close people (customers and employees) are with each other. The music was not overwhelming at all; there was a nice ambience and music was played lightly in the background. 10/10 Espresso martini. Now I've had really good martinis and really bad martinis. This one was so good and I was so tempted to order multiple! 8/10 Churrasco Steak. Cooked how we wanted it. The fries were nice and crispy. I liked the taste of the sauce that came with it but felt like it could've been a little stronger in flavor. 7/10 Braised short ribs. I honestly was expecting more of an acidic taste when I first looked at pictures of the sauce, but it was light. However, everything else was delightful. We were so impressed by everyone that worked there and specifically our server which unfortunately I just can't recall his name at this time. This is our second time here for lunch and both visits have been exceptional. Today we started off with a bowl of clam chowder to share with two slices of garlic bread. The soup came out piping hot with chunks of clams, potatoes, and herbs - so tasty and kept us warmed up as we sat outside. For entrees we chose the Habanero Chicken and Churrasco Steak - definitely not a light lunch but we were hungry and neither disappointed! The chicken was super juicy, mashed potatoes and sweet carrots drizzled with an amazing citrus habanero sauce - not spicy at all but just the right amount of heat vs sweet. We stumbled upon this adorable spot in Napa for lunch, and let me tell you, the atmosphere is simply stunning! The staff is incredibly warm and knowledgeable, especially Rachel, who was on top of everything. They have some delightful specials that aren't even listed on the menu, and the regular menu caters to every craving imaginable. We opted for the fried chicken sandwich and sea salt fries--pure perfection nestled in a light, chewy brioche bun, complemented by delicately sweetened dill pickles and a zesty creole mustard sauce. Absolutely divine! The fries, thinly cut yet perfectly crispy and soft, were the ideal match. We were so ravenous that I completely forgot to snap pictures--just trust me on this! This was my second time here. Coincidentally, I was invited for a birthday gathering both times so I assume this could be a popular choice for someone who wants to celebrate their birthday in Napa. The food here is great. I got a Pomegranate Margarita, Calamari, Clam Chowder, Mac and Cheese, Shrimp Linguine, and Habanero Organic Chicken (substitute the chicken for salmon). The pomegranate margarita was refreshing, strong, and overall unique as it isn't a flavor a lot of restaurants offer in terms of margaritas. I really enjoyed how the calamari was crispy, but not drenched in oil. It came with a red sauce that was perfect in terms of pairing. The star of the show their clam chowder as a result of how perfectly balanced it was in terms of soup, ingredients, and flavor. The garlic bread that came with it was absolutely decadent. I would come back just for the bread alone because it really was that good. The mac and cheese was honestly just alright. I did love the bread crumbs that came on top. The shrimp linguine was enjoyable for someone who favors linguine. I'm unfortunately use to linguine being incorrectly prepared in terms creaminess. This style of linguine was a more authentic version which despite what I'm use to, I did have an appreciation for. While it was a bit more oily than creamy, the capers and oil blend were flavorful and allowed the lightly seasoned shrimp to stand out. The Habanero Organic Chicken (substitute the chicken for salmon) was amazing and an item alteration I think would be a great addition to their menu. I am a pescatarian and as a result of not eating chicken, I was appreciative that they were able to accommodate and provide this substitution. The salmon was great in terms of portion and flavor. It was thick and not overly seasoned. The mashed potatoes were excellent and the carrots that came on top balanced the dish well. The habanero sauce was a bit spicy in my opinion (everything is spicy to me though and others who ordered the same thing said it wasn't), but went perfect with the salmon substitution. Lastly their complimentary birthday cheesecake was phenomenal, especially considering they make it in house. It wasn't my birthday, but I did get to taste a spoonful. The lemon flavor on top was different and I loved the thick graham cracker crust was. The ambience of the restaurant was really nice. It was small, but very modern. We chose to eat outside because the weather was amazing. I feel like this made our meal 10 times better. Last time I ate inside, but definitely recommend eating outside if the weather is suitable to your liking. Overall, I enjoyed this restaurant and will be revisiting soon. read more
