Another hidden and rare find. It is very hard to impress me with breakfast pastries and items. Most places just get their items from a third party, and these items nearly always taste like an afterthought. Not this place. As I asked the gentleman at the counter about the different muffins and croissants, I could tell by the level of detail that he was going into that these are not run of the mill breakfast items. I typically don't like over 95% of bakery items available at most breakfast or pasty places as they are typically way too sweet for me. I asked the gentleman his opinion, and he went into great detail (there was no one behind me). The ingredients are nearly all organic and locally sourced. I tried the pumpkin muffin, the chocolate banana muffin, and the chocolate croissant. These items were full of natural flavor and had very little added sugar. I can now see why the gentleman spoke with such enthusiasm. Too bad they are not located in Orange County, as I would end up here all the time. As I was leaving, a line started to form. Food served on cute little cutting boards are visually pleasing, but not functional when you are eating toast piled high with toppings that fall all over the place when handling. Tons of GF options, didn't realize that meant everything would be more expensive. We ordered a side of fruit, it was about a half cup of strawberries and blueberries and it cost $4. Kids loved the Chocolate croissants because they were 50% chocolate. They were nice and crispy! My salmon toast was $14 and had maybe 2 oz of fish on 2 thin slices of bread. The menu is not extensive but they have a nice variety of breakfast, salad, sandwiches, a soup of the day, plus yummy desserts and pastries. We had the fig prosciutto and tripping vegan sandwiches. They were out of croissants so the prosciutto was on a brioche bun but still excellent. The vegan was healthy on a dense yummy sourdough with big slabs of portobello plus avocado, garlic aioli and I think sun dried tomato. We had to try dessert and really liked the magic bar. The brown bottom cake was also good, with a surprisingly light top layer that looked like a chocolate chip cookie but was light and buttery tasting. We have 2 loaves of their sourdough bread at our house at any given time but spring for English muffins in weekend for the hollandaise. Eating here is delicious, and the treats are next level. My daughter loves the hostess cupcake (okay I do too) but any old cupcake or cinnamon roll or cookie are quite good here. The one thing I don't like is the croissant, go figure. Nectarine Grove has been on my list for a while now, and I'm glad I finally tried it! This location is in the same plaza as Cucina Enoteca, so there is available parking although it can be pretty impacted. It wasn't too busy when I came on a Sunday morning, which was nice. The cashiers were super friendly, although it felt like the service was very slow albeit friendly--think, you're at Trader Joe's in a hurry but they're so friendly to every customer. Since we weren't in a hurry, I didn't mind but just something to keep in mind. The vibes here are very relaxed, SoCal ambiance so it's really not too surprising. We ordered a quiche to share, breakfast tacos, and the breakfast sandwich. Everything here is gluten free so it's great for folks with dietary restrictions, I couldn't tell a difference. Our favorite was definitely the quiche--it was the most special item we ordered and probably the only item I would come back for. The breakfast mains were good as well, but nothing overly exciting and something I feel I could replicate at home for a fraction of the cost. The cinnamon roll was hard and dry even after being heated, but I've had them before and they were fantastic, so not knocking a star off. The blueberry scone was the highlight of the haul! Very pleased I found a new 100% gluten free restaurant to add to my repertoire. I always get overwhelmed with so many choices and it's nice to have a full menu to pick from. The food here is pretty good, they lean heavily on "healthy" so the texture isn't always the best, very dense breads and not enough fats to get the food moist. So this is really selling the healthy aspect rather than making GF foods that taste like their gluteny counter parts. I always enjoy a good breakfast so I ordered the bake house breakfast. The jelly was very good and I enjoyed the meal. Their baked goods were pretty good, but the texture was a little lacking. The staff was very nice, and very patient with some rude customers in front of me. They had service with a smile and was impressed at how they handled the brusk woman in front of me. Good for them. I don't think the girl who made it truly knew how to make it. I heard her inquire about out with another employee, and in the end I received 4 oz coffee in an 8 oz cup with foam that should not of been there. She basically made me an average cappuccino. The English Muffin was interesting. I looked and tasted more like a biscuit. In fact, it had the texture of a biscuit not an English Muffin. I am not sure if they made a mistake. The yogurt parfait is simple and delicious and comes in a big bowl with fresh fruit and housemade granola. I ordered the quiche but they forgot to put it in the oven so I had to take it to go cold since we didn't have time to wait for it. The gentleman was very apologetic and offered us a dessert item from their case of yummy looking desserts but I declined. I Milk options include organic whole, organic almond, organic coconut, and oat. There is no additional cost for any of these options. Randomly found this place on our way home from San Diego. I love that this place offers so many vegan, gluten-free, low carb/keto options! It was very refreshing to have so many choices. We ordered: Gluten free almond croissant - lots of layers and loved the crunchy crust on it. Very moist and not dry. Highly recommend! Breakfast sandwich with vegan bacon - absolutely delicious and the vegan bacon tasted so real! Sunshine bowl and Morning glory bowl - both delicious (sunshine has eggs) and loved the vegan bacon and the spicy chipotle sauce. Service took longer than expected but everything was freshly made to order. Only con is the bathroom is far away. It is in the shopping center 2nd floor, by Core Power Yoga and a pancake place. Really happy that Nectarine Grove opened another location in Del Mar. Nice to see a local business grow in success. This location offers certain items unavailable in the Encinitas location, such as the gluten free sourdough bread and the gluten free croissants. Both of these gluten free croissants are more dense than their non-gluten free versions; and therefore, really filling. Despite it being more dense, I do enjoy both gluten free items. The sourdough loaf pre-sliced tasted so good toasted -- top it with butter or / with avocado and that is a great breakfast at home! The gluten free croissants taste great warmed up too! I really like the Nectarine Grove in Encinitas but am glad that they have this location in Del Mar since it's more convenient for me. So even though I am giving the rating for this location a little lower than the one in Encinitas, I like this one better. Let me explain. Even though the menu in Encinitas has more items, the selection at the Del Mar location is good and I will be returning to try different items. I did think that the bakery selection was better at the Del Mar location which is the main reason why I have already visited this place twice in a week. So far I have tried the baguette and bread rolls which are very good. Even my husband who is not gluten sensitive and avoids my gluten free items really liked the rolls and would have eaten them all if I didn't hide them from him. During one of our visits, I tried the Beachy Beet salad and enjoyed the flavors of the ingredients. So why the lower rating? I wanted to try the Coconut Ginger Bone Broth but they were out. Then we tried to order two other items but they were out of those two. We got there at noon so it was a little disappointing to see that they were out of menu items already.
