Nekter was pretty high up there on my list of açaí spots, but this location has some major improving to do. I'm so sorry to even say that. :( Starting with the positives, the guy taking my order was nice. He was patient and kind. That is a plus. Everything else goes downhill from there. Our açaí bowls were on the watery side. It wasn't on the cold, thick, icy side. That is so weird; I have never seen this before. The toppings of banana slices, strawberries, and blueberries were also very, very scarce. I didn't know I was supposed to tell the guy that I wanted almond butter "on top," so it was blended (eewww) into my açaí base! It gave it a slimy texture which was so gross. If you're paying over $10 for an açaí bowl, I feel like it should be good. I gave this place a 2 because I'm not coming back. To end on a positive note, my husband liked his mango smoothie. Located inside the smaller South Coast Plaza. We had a coupon for BOGO half off on a rainy Saturday morning. We ordered our usual, which is the Mango Delight but omit the pineapple juice for strawberries. Upon getting our order, we realized that our drink still had pineapple juice and the strawberries were nowhere in sight. We were already halfway to our car when we turned back around to get our orders fixed. This Nekter is such an efficient location! Placed my order and received my drink within 10 minutes. Conveniently located by the Crate & Barrel wing of South Coast Plaza. There are nice bar stools to wait for your take out order as well as padded seats with small tables for eating indoors. Usually I get the pink flamingo because I love pitaya but I wanted to try something new so I got the tropical cooler fusion blend. It was a refreshing blend of kale, spinach, banana, pineapple, coconut butter and coconut water. Despite its green color it was not at all bitter and the pineapple really helped mellow the kale and spinach and make it slightly sweet without being too sweet. CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENT! They triple charged me for 1 item that I wanted. (receipt proof below) I ordered 1 chocolate skoop with toppings. The cashier kept swiping my card multiple times because the iPad (or whatever touchscreen device) kept turning off when she flipped it over for me to sign. On the third attempt, I finally signed the receipt and got 1 receipt print-out for my order. When I waited for my skoop, the lady called my name and presented me with 3 cups. I thought that was weird and showed her my receipt that only indicates 1 skoop. She also found that odd. I took my 1 cup and walked away whilst the server took the other 2 back. I checked my credit card activity as soon as I exited the store. Lo and behold, I was charged 3 times. I returned to the store and had to wait in line to inform the cashier about my triple charge. She refunded 2 of the charges and apologized. But if I had not checked my credit card activity so quickly, I would've had to waste more of my time disputing the transactions with the credit card company. Advice to management: fix the payment system because (based on the cashier's comments) apparently they've been double/triple charging more people than just me. The chocolate skoop was actually quite good, but the toppings were skimpy. I didn't get a chance to take a nice pic of it since I was busy figuring out the overcharge dilemma, and the skoop melted somewhat. read more

This Nekter is located in the Crystal Court side of South Coast Plaza (H&M & Apple Side) which there are fortunately a lot more parking spots than most nekter places. My go to is the Popeye Acai which is basically an acai bowl with an interesting addition of spinach. It's super refreshing, and I feel like I just had a senzu bean drink that recovers my health. The staff also gives great recommendations and are super polite. The atmosphere is super nice with a very comfortable, modern type of style. Great for work breaks or meditation. The drinks on the pricier side but 16 oz for 5.99 smoothie makes me more than content afterwards! I LOVE NEKTER!! I usually go to their location by Cardio Barre in Irvine but I happened to be in this area while they had a sale for their juice cleanse so I couldn't resist. If you haven't ever done a juice cleanse before, it is important to eat healthy leading up to your juice cleanse as well as being healthy after. Personally I don't get hungry during the process, but this wasn't my first time doing it. They were saying you can munch on plain lettuce or avocados if hunger becomes a problem for you. I just miss salty food and chewing whenever I'm on a juice cleanse since the juices are sweet. I also prefer the advance cleanse over their regular cleanse since it has less sugar per juice bottle. Their juice cleanse comes in a series of 6 juices per day and you can do it for as many days as you want/could. Here's my juice cleanse schedule: 7:00 Juice #1 (apple, celery, cucumber, lime, kale, parsley, spinach, mint) 10:00 Juice #2 (filtered water, lemon, agave nectar, turmeric, black pepper) 1:00 Juice #3 (apple, celery, beet, lemon, parsley, spinach, ginger) 4:00 Juice #4 (filter water, lemon, agave nectar, coconut charcoal) 6:00 Juice #5 (cucumber, green apple, spinach, kale, parsley, lemon, swiss chard, celery) 8:00 Juice #6 (filtered water, almonds, dates, cinnamon, pure vanilla extract, nutmeg) I also really like the acai bowls at Nekter. My favorite is the Pitaya bowl ($7.95) and it is topped with banana slices, coconut flakes and granola! If you're looking for a juice ($5.95/16oz), I like the toxin flush and the sublime. But if you prefer a smoothie ($5.95/16oz), I love the Date Nut. It's not on the actual menu anymore, but they can still make it. Regardless of what you order, I recommend downloading their Nekter app. You get a 'stamp' for every visit and after 10 visits, you can get a free menu item. I have redeemed many freebies throughout the years so I definitely think having the app is easier than having a stampcard that I usually lose.
