Neptune is located at the Marine Gateway complex. Food-wise and ambience-wise is pretty good - the space is bright, spacious, clean. Free parking on P2 underground (look for their section) or register your license plate# with the restaurant. Dinner service and value is much better than at their dimsum time though so stick to coming here for dinner. Here's a breakdown: They have daily dinner specials on Weekdays. 2-Course Peking Duck Tuesdays for $60 is especially popular and they do their duck well! And their beef and eggplant dish at dinner is a must get, so flavorful. Maybe because it's less hectic, but service is more personal and attentive at night. Their dimsum, on the other hand, is decent but I haven't found a dish that would make me go back because they do it best. They charge for tea for kids and charge 2.4% surcharge if paying by CC (which they don't at night). Just feels like a lot of nickel and diming for a higher-end restaurant. Came here for dim sum on a Monday for lunch and we had to wait for a good 20-25mins for our party of 4 since we didn't make any reservations. We ordered a variety of dim sum and our conclusion is they increased the portion size a little to justify their insanely expensive pricing. Although their Siu mai comes in 5 pieces (versus the traditional 4), I still don't think it justifies for $12.68. The quality of the dishes were also subpar. The steamed spare ribs had a hint of freezer burn taste to it. The pear shape matcha black sesame rice balls were a little too sweet. I didn't taste any matcha but instead, I suspected they just used food coloring for the green color as it looked very artificial. We also ordered some Chinese bbq and that was also disappointing. The pork belly skin wasn't crunchy at all. The roast duck lacked flavor and tasted like it was reheated. The rice spaghetti that came with the duck was also overcooked. Overall, this place is overrated and over priced. We paid $200 CAD for our meal for 2 adults and 2 young kids who didn't even eat a lot because they said it wasn't good. I came today on an invite for an engagement party. We were in a private room with 3 tables of 10 each. The 3rd table was a bit cramped but it was ok. Service was good although there were times when server couldn't catch up with changing plates for all 3 tables. Food was amazing today. Recently, we decided to give Neptune Palace Seafood Restaurant - Surrey another opportunity, as we had enjoyed our previous dining experiences there. On those occasions, Vincent and other servers provided us with excellent service. We chose your restaurant for an early New Lunar Year's Eve dinner celebration with our family, expecting a similarly positive experience. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. Upon arrival, the hostess was welcoming and courteous. After being seated, we decided to order the Peking duck combo menu along with several additional dishes, bringing our bill to over $600. Our server, Ivy Z., appeared displeased and informed us that she needed to confirm with a manager whether we were permitted to order from that menu. She later returned to advise that we could not order it because it was two days before Lunar New Year and the restaurant was too busy to accommodate that menu. This explanation was confusing, as we observed other tables being served Peking duck courses. When I asked why the item remained on the menu and was still being promoted if it was unavailable, Ivy consulted with another manager, Charlie C. Unfortunately, Charlie's facial expression and demeanor did not appear professional, and both her and Ivy made us feel as though our request was unreasonable. Frankly, had we not been accompanied by our elderly mother-in-law and aunt, we would have chosen to leave at that point. To make matters worse, our daughter discovered a hair in her pork chop. We brought this to Jarvie's attention and he was apologetic. He spoke with Charlie and returned to apologize again, offering a complimentary tapioca dessert. However, we later realized that we did not receive our regular red bean dessert, so in effect, the dessert was not truly complimentary. While we appreciated the gesture, we believe that for a restaurant of Neptune's reputation, it would have been more appropriate to remove the pork chop from our bill. We are sharing this feedback in the hope that it will help improve the experience for future guests. Overall, Jarvie and several other staff members were courteous and professional, but our interaction with Ivy and management fell well below our expectations, particularly given our previous positive visits. The only reason it's 4 stars is because the service is average/poor. 2/3 times I go here the service is usually decent but that other 1/3 they forgot my orders and took a long time to take my order, bring our check, and serve all of our food. Neptune is one of my default dim sum restaurant because they have various locations and I find they have consistent food quality and good service. Their locations across town all offer decent parking options and flexible hours of operation. Parking at this location was free for 90 min. Look for their designated spots in the lot. Then when you arrive upstairs at restaurant, just write down your license plate on the little slip of parking paper the server will give you when you place your food order. Ambiance here is quite modern with fancy lighting and decor fit for a traditional Chinese wedding banquet. Service here is usually prompt and I tend to visit Neptune for late brunch instead of lunch. Never having tried this branch which directly Above marine drive station - canada Line. With the name Neptune, once can only expect great things. From the outside, looks unassuming but once you step in, place is huge and very modern. Very bright and glitzy with chandeliers and all. And to my surprise, they had a Michellin guide Recommended list. Lots of special on the menu...we decided on the peking duck ( 2 courses) plus 5 main entrees $249. Sorry not much for photos as we were so hungry we forgot to take good pics. Anyhow, the duck was presented whole before carved. Served table side so you can see the entire duck being carved, and every skin piece and meat sliver laid on the table. No cheating. Both skin and slices were sliced and served separately so you can enjoy best of both worlds. Crepes came in 2 steamers. Other dishes were xo abd dried scallop fried rice. So good and flakes of scallop everywhere. Satay vermecelli and seafood. Again, another winner. Salt and pepper squid. Huge servings of pipping hot squid with tons of fried chilies and garlic. So so good! Then we had the 2 kinds of bbq. roasted pork and bbq pork. The roasted pork was awesome. Tender and succulent and skin very crispy the bbq pork was a bit fatty and tasted day old. Not fresh. The meat has already absorbed most of the sauces, which tells me they have been swimming in the sauce the whole day. So just ok. What i didnt like about the place was the constant upsell. They were pushing us to get the lingcod combo which came with 2 courses fish, then 5 other dishes but selections were not that great. Lots of veggies. We had to insist on we wanted the peking duck, so they brought us the menu. Even then they wanted to push us to order more veggie and noodle dishes. But hey, we are smarter than that. As soon as they found out we could speak chinese, they let us be lol. Another issue we had was we ordered the 2 kinds bbq. Roast pork and roast duck, as this was what the server told us. Lo abd behold, without warning, they gave us roast pork and bbq pork. When told it was wrong...they said they will check, and as it turns out, they were out of roasted duck. So we said, the server said it was available....you cant just change it without consulting with us first and asking if it was okZ what if we wanted another dish instead? So they apologized and said they will give us more bbq pork. Service was quick and food came hot and fresh. Everyone was so full. The course was good for 6, we were 6 adults and 3 kids. Still had a little leftovers. All things considered...i had a nice experience, overall food quality was superb. The duck was very good. Cant praise it enough. No after taste. Crispy skin. Juicy meat. The crepe came out with a sour smell. It had gone bad but they still served it. They had to give us a new order. The duck was dry and tasteless. The second duck course that was a duck lettuce wrap was even worse. It was not hot and the duck peices were so dry that it was actually hard. The vegetable and mushroom dish was also horrible. The mushrooms had a soggy weird texture that tasted not good. The dish was also tasteless and not warm. all The dishes was flavorless and cold. None of the ingredients were fresh and it tasted like food that is old. One of the most horrible meal I have had in a long time. was hoping to showcase Vancouver Chinese food but instead it was a disappointing and embarrassing experience. Came here for my birthday dinner and I'm so glad I did. I made a reservation a couple days in advance for Sunday dinner at 6 pm. Came with group of 8 and we were seated promptly. It was my first time here, but I was pleasantly surprised by the nice decorations inside. It definitely was a more upscale spot for Cantonese dining. To make ordering easier, we ordered the king crab set menu for 6 people ($499) and added an additional veggie chow mein dish ($26.80). Thought it was pretty affordable for the giant king crab that we got. Our server brought the crab to our table and let us take pics and videos of it before they cooked it, which was nice. All of the food from the set menu was good, but my favorites were the king crab (cooked two ways: steamed with ginger and garlic and fried) and the wagyu stiry fry. I was a bit busy chatting to pay attention to most of the food, but these were the two that made me stop and take notice. The squab had really crispy skin but some of the meat, especially the bigger pieces, was a bit dry. The fried rice tasted a bit bland to me, but that could be because I ate it at the end so the flavors from all the other dishes were already in my mouth. We brought our own cake, and surprisingly they didn't charge us any additional cake fees. They grabbed the cake from us in the box and did everything (unboxed and added a candle) in the background, and brought out the cake to the table when we were done with the red bean soup. They probably do this a dozen times a day and have it down to a routine. The servers at Neptune made everything from ordering to serving the cake super easy. First time trying Dim Sum at this Cantonese Style Seafood Restaurant and I was impressed! Food quality & service was above average, spacious dining area and Covid check-in protocol followed. Food highlight .. When I drove to the parking lot at Marine Gateway. I was very lost trying to find parking near this Chinese restaurant. Luckily I found the parking area with the restaurant's signs. There was 90 min free parking when we dived at the restaurant. It was great! We ordered 7 dishes. I forgot to take pictures of the dishes. Overall the food was good especially their pumpkin congee and desserts. The tea was good as well. The restaurant would give each table a container with a small candle, so we could heat up the water and add to the tea. The interior was spacious with lots of tables and chairs. There was also enough distance between tables and chairs. Overall the eating experience was great here especially my friends and I could eat and chat at the same time. Everything else were also tasty. Truffle Shao Mai looked cute with truffle on top. The fillings were tender and meaty. Beef tripe and Wild Rice Wrap were pretty good. Rice wrap was really yummy and crispy. They were all made with quality and the price was expensive. Washroom was beautiful. All the toilets had an automatic seat cover using censor or the touch button. They had Jo Malone diffusers in the washroom instead of using air fresheners. You're looking to spend $8-9 per dish and $12-16 on special dishes. Noodles would be around $20 and up. It's quite expensive, but great place to spoil yourself, friends or family once in awhile. I wanted so much to like this place. I've tried this restaurant a number of times... unfortunately, it's failed to deliver in similar ways every time. No matter if it's lunch or dinner, it doesn't meet basic expectations for going out to eat at this price point. I don't know how it received Michelin's acknowledgement. Although the food was decent, the service was horrible, the ladies washrooms were poorly maintained, and the ambience was just ok. This last visit, the hostess gave our table to someone else and only when we questioned her was when she gave us a table. It took more than 30 min for our order to come. Prior to us getting the food, I had asked one of the managers (Zoe), if she could check on our order since we were in a rush. She flat out rudely said no and that food needs time to steam ... we just had to wait. If this is what getting Michelin acknowledgement means, I think I'll think twice when going to any of their recommended restaurants in the future. Very disappointing. read more

But our friends who were out of town suggested we meet for a set dinner there and so we looked forward to finally trying it out! Sadly, that's where the excitement ends. I could not believe the service here. From the moment we sat down, it was aggressive, abrupt and prejudiced. They were pushing an Alaskan crab dinner menu, but we said we wanted the lobster set menu. We had 3 different people basically tell us, that the only dinner available was this crab special, starting at $499. I finally had to explain, we needed to know if we could have the other menu plan or not? Once they knew we weren't ordering the big menu, the service went down. We asked Mark, our main server a question about the house vermicelli noodles on the menu. He had no idea what we were talking about. He had to go and get another menu in Chinese and still didn't explain what it was. When my friend reached out to move a fork while a server put the food down, he put his hand in her face and said 'wait'. Jaw dropping moment! Now about the food....I will say the portions were much larger than we thought, that was a plus. We ordered the set lobster menu with 5 added items for $238. It comes with a basic veggie soup. Lobster on rice with corn, it was tasty. We got the pork jowl with pineapple and we were disappointed, it was a very western sweet and sour pork dish. The fried squid with jalapeños was yummy and had extra crispy garlic with it. And the fried beans with garlic was good, but nothing special. Had dinner there with family in November 2024 and parked in the designated free parking area if you dine there, my mistake between the onsite security guard who told me I could park at the spot I picked and the restaurant was my licence plate did not get registered. Received a parking ticket that was on my windshield after dinner and immediately went back to the restaurant, found a manager there and he indicated their office would take care of the ticket if I just paid them an administrative fee in cash ($20). They asked me to take a photo of the ticket and write my phone number on the ticket as well for record keeping. About a month later I received a letter notice in the mail from Impark that the ticket is outstanding and would go to collection if not paid. I immediately drove back to the restaurant, explained that they hadn't taken care of the parking violation as they said they would even after I paid them. The manager then said "leave the letter with them and they will take care of it and not to worry". Two weeks later Impark advises me the ticket penalty is still outstanding, I decided to pay the outstanding fine as it's apparent Neptune isn't going to fix the problem. I should have gotten a receipt for the admin fee I gave them, I suspect the manager that evening pocketed the cash and threw the ticket in the trash. Never thought I would leave a 1 star review for any restaurant establishment in BC. Drove all the way from WA state to have some food. Did not have a reservation but walked in to see if there was any availability for early dinner. Receptionist looked at me in a very unwelcoming and b*tchy face I have ever seen and talked down to me as if I disrespected her. Heard Neptune had Michelin star, but I would recommend service score to be docked. If reception is not welcoming, would leave a bad taste to anyone's mouth even if the food tastes good. That being said, I will be giving advice to appropriate parties. Not be recommending this particular location to any of my friends, family, or relatives. If it were a business dinner, I would not be making any future reservations or recommendations for fear of losing business relationships. Sorry, bad service from the get go. read more

Another dinner before flying back to Asia. From Monday to Friday, they have specials for cheap. Thursday is roasted beef ribs with broccoli and baby potatoes over black pepper sauce. Super yummy!! The dish is $60 which is normally $90. Friday special is roasted suckling pig. 1 plate (about 1/3) for $60 or $188 for half a pig. Regular price is $128 per plate or $300 for half a pig. We ordered 3 dishes total. Beef, s&s pork and deep fried golden tofu. Best 3 dishes by far. read more

Food and atmosphere are fine, but horrible service. They charged us an extra 2 people for tea (note they even charged my 1 year old tea in additional to the 2 extra). Went to correct them on their receipt (nicely) but they gave us the worst attitude and threw the coins back at us. Since the original Flamingo location closed, this has become my family's go-to dim sum spot! Their dining room is large and grand (equipped with massive TV screens), they have an extensive menu, and food is delicious. Like you'll find at many large dim sum/seafood establishments in Vancouver, customer service is an efficient and no frills well oiled machine. I love that they do temperature checks as well. They don't do carts or anything like that here. You simply check off menu items on a sheet of paper and hand it to your server. Food comes out really quick and hot. I honestly can't think of one dish I didn't like here. We always make a reservation ahead of time. read more

Decent dim sum but very expensive. Decor is modern and clean, but the service is not overly friendly nor welcoming. Lastly, be aware that they have an extra surcharge of 2% for Visa cards. Many other choices with better overall experience, seem to be a Neptune cultural issue which is the same at their other locations also. read more
