After waiting at our table for 25 minutes to make an order we ordered shrimp and grits, chorizo and scrambled eggs and I ordered a classic 2 eggs, bacon and potatoes with no salad. We also ordered bottomless mimosas naively thinking that bottomless mimosas equaled continued mimosas. The first round of mimosas came and when we finished the first round before m our food finally came. My food came with salad even though I asked without it me but no big deal. The food was disappointing. I'm a huge fan of the classic breakfast but this was the worst. All people at the table disliked their own food. We ate half of the food with no mimosas to drink with. After the second mimosa is done. We asked for the 3rd round and when they finally came with the 3rd round we tell them would be better they already prepare the next round for us because we didn't want to wait 15 minutes for the next round again. Remembering, the mimosas were bottomless witch means we can order as many mimosas we wants. We are paying for it. You shouldn't put in the menu that you serve bottomless mimosas if you are not going to do it. So when we say that they should start getting ready for the next round the waitress tell us to slow down and accuse my friend of being drunk (of 2 mimosas). We get offended and complain about it and then they take out our mimosas. We complain more and the manager comes in and charges us for the full bottomless mimosas!!!!! For 2 rounds of mimosas!!! I went here during soft opening and think this might already be my favorite brunch spot in Alameda. I love what they did with the old Foster Freeze space. The back patio is really nice and inviting and has a shade structure for added comfort. The menu includes comfort-breakfast items with southern and Filipino influence. Seems like there were a few less choices than most brunch menus, but I suspect they may add new options as time passes. The food is definitely high quality and worth the price. I visited Neptune's last Thursday morning at 10am with a friend. Since it was a weekday, we were immediately seated. The decor is beautiful and minimal and the menu looked great - with options you wouldn't see elsewhere. I had the Spaniard coffee drink and Persian egg dish. I think it was posted as a frittata, but seemed more like a scramble, topped with feta cheese, onions, and possibly fennel. Both were delicious. The only thing that was lacking was the service. Either nobody would come to our table or two servers would come back to back. They seemed a little confused. When paying the check, we asked to pay part in cash and charge the rest, but this seemed to confuse our main server who somehow ended up bringing us change. But the restaurant is new and the food was delicious so I plan to return this weekend and try something else! read more

I was definitely skeptical on trying this place out when visiting Alameda California. When we first entered it wasn't your typical IHOP nor Denny's. Reading through the menu seemed a bit confusing however the waitress was very helpful in explaining what were the favorites amongst locals. I ended up going with the Chilaquiles and boy were they delicious. Coming from a Hispanic that loves traditional Mexican food these seemed to be pretty close to the real deal. Only suggestion would be to have them accompanied by a side of refried beans. read more

Neptunes is consistently delicious and constantly surprising. If you're into fancy coffee, they have some of Alameda's best lattes and mochas. If you're into eggs, buckle up - their frittatas and benedicts are mouth watering. They cook their food with love and plate it with pride. The staff is friendly and attentive. Mediocre, bland and overpriced food. Horrrrible service. Horrible experience. I've eaten at thousands of restaurants around the world and this is literally the worst restaurant experience I've ever had by far. Waited 25 mins to sit down to wait 15 more minutes until we had to tell the door guy that we needed a server. 10 minutes later the rude server told us there was one table in front of us and she would be right with us.... I'm sorry but why wouldn't she take a drink order first? Anyway we finally order and get bottomless mimosas and our first round comes, cool. We then finish this round and wait for the next in this "bottomless" glass. Our food comes, none of the 4 people are happy with it and we place the cups at the front of the table because obviously no one is paint attention enough to see we have been done for 10 minutes with our first round. Finally we get another round and eat some more of our food. As we finish our 2nd round we make a gesture that we need another and the door man makes a comment that we need to slow down (Hilarious because this has already been the slowest experience ever). When we have been waiting for the 3rd round for another 10 minutes the angry sever proceeds to take our glasses away because one of the people at our party was "drunk". He wasn't at all. We create a huge scene, yelling and cursing out the server and 45 year old door man. The owner comes over and doesn't seem to care about making customers happy and proceeds to charge us the full price of all food and endless mimosas. We pay and tip $50 on top and walk out. Honestly ANY other restaurant in alameda would have been better. Food is not good, it's expensive and servers are mad and obviously don't know about customer happiness. We will make sure to make it our mission to let everyone in the bay know to not come here. They treated people that know a LOT of people in the industry badly and that's was a bad move. If we would of just got our mimosas comped or at least received an apology we would of left disappointed and dissatisfied but at least not angry. read more

Went twice. It's a San Francisco style brunch place in a working class neighborhood. Prices are higher than most other places around here, and service is a lot slower. the menu is extremely limited, and seems scattered and unfocused. They're calling it southern inspired, but WTF is southern about "small plates" or Musubi?! Oh, they have grits. Note to the world: chicken and waffles isn't "southern". But if you want a latte in a big cup with your avocado toast while you chat with your preschool parents group about the weekend sale at old navy, then this is the place for you. read more

This place has a great location and vibe, but both times I've been here, me and my friend's dishes have come out cold. I thought the first time it was a fluke since it was very busy, but I went yesterday at a slower time and the dish still came out cold. The wait staff is friendly, but was service was very much lacking. I had to get napkins and silverware myself after the food was served, just like at a fast food restaurant! Two waitresses were very attentive to the nearby table with a large group of loud, young men... even giving out shoulder massages and chatting it up. No one came back to our table. We just left Neptune's. It was crowded, being Sunday, but we were able to find parking, and a seat without much of a wait. The wait staff is so nice and the food is great! We ordered the 1) Sweet Waffles, 2) the Persian-style Frittata, 3) Fried Oyster Omelet, and 4) Eggs Benedict. We did wait a bit for our food, 20 minutes or so, but our waitress was very cordial and kept us in the loop. We cleaned our plates. Everything was delicious. The hash brown patty was just barely on the too crunchy & oily side, but we didn't seem to mind. The one major upgrade we would suggest is to add one or two bike racks. While we were there, seven bikes were out front propped against anything secure. There are two perfect spots for bike racks; they would be an appreciated addition. Although we miss the local Foster's Freeze, and the memories it created, we are enjoying this new addition to the neighborhood. read more

This is a hot and new brunch place in Alameda.Only 3min from my home. :) We came on last Saturday morning for brunch and almost all of the tables were full. Our food didn't take too long despite it being a full restaurant. We ordered 'The Standard','Neptune's Burger' and 'Hangtown Fry'. It was all good. Specially Neptune's Burger! Asked again if we needed cream. Yes. Cream quickly delivered. Then shortly thereafter asked for our order. Yay! He repeated our order to us because he had nothing to write on. We repeated twice that we would like a lumpia starter. Then we waited and waited and waited and waited and waited. Then our chicken, waffles, bacon and hash brown arrived. Everyone was given the wrong plates, and when we said something, were asked just to hold on a second. LOL. Then plates were rearranged and we were asked if we wanted anything else. And we said lumpia! Third time! The delicious lumpia was then delivered in a few minutes. Meanwhile during all this waiting and eating our breakfast, we were never asked if we wanted more coffee or water. Which we conflicted about because the coffee is so bad. Finally many minutes after finishing our meal we were given a warm up and more water. Please fix the service! Please make this work! The server wasn't very hospitable, she made some mistakes describing food which forced us to send it back, then she never checked back in on us. The food: Burger, super sweet and lacking seasoning. My new fave restaurant! My husband and I went there today (sunday 4/7) for the first time. We did have about a half hr wait, but theres plenty to do around there while waited. The service was prompt and friendly, the place is clean and charming, and the food is AMAZING. We both had chicken with waffles, which comes with a salad. I was thinking iceberg lettuce with a half dead tomato, but no. It was a delicious, GREEN salad. A healthy one. The maple syrup is REAL, not the imitation crap restaurants usually serve. Neptune's in an incredible place for pretty much any meal. Yes, their brunch is delicious! But they also have really good burgers, salads, and other lunch options. I could honestly eat here every day of the week and never get sick of the food because there's so much variety and it's all so good. The Biscuit Benedict is by far my favorite. I don't typically eat pork, so a Benedict without bacon is huge in my book! The market salad with chicken is also incredible. The portions are huge, so even though the prices are a little high, it's worth it. You will usually have enough to share or take home leftovers. Totally in love with this restaurant! read more
