I have so much respect for Vincenti and its predecessor Rex, that I'll follow their departed chefs to new restaurants. Nerano's Michele Lisi comes from this lineage. The apple didn't fall far from the tree where the pastas at Nerano are better than Vincenti. Nerano should be a part of the discussion regarding the best pasta dishes in Los Angeles due to the downright exceptional supple texture and deeply flavored sauces. The squid ink tonnarelli was the best pasta with crab dish that I've ever had. An exquisite combination with funky richness of ink, salty bottarga, gentle touch of spice, crunch of bread crumbs, and wonderfully redolent quantity of seafood stock. The ample amount of Maryland blue crab was evenly interspersed in the spaghetti-shaped pasta instead of a mere wad on top. Even before we tasted the beef ragu on garganelli, we smelled the full aroma from a neighboring table that was six feet away that ordered the same dish. Finely cut meat and carrots in the ragu had a gentle edge of tanginess much like the ragu at Il Fico (another Vincenti off-shoot). The egg pasta so elegantly fragile, I'm surprised that it held its rolled shape and didn't unfurl. The gnudi dish was a bacchanalia of decadent ingredients that sumptuously combined spinach-speckled gnudi with an equal amount of chanterelle mushrooms - adhered with a cheesy sauce and completely covered with shaved black truffle. The preparation was superior to classic gnudi that is often found swimming in butter like drowning escargot. Unlike most gnudi that can't absorb the sauce, Nerano's gnudi picked-up the surrounding richness. The crostata with thin meyer lemon filling in a hard cookie-like shell was a light dessert that was made more refreshing with the mint and raspberry sorbet. The recommended pairing of Ben Rye dessert wine was spot on. Everything was not wonderful. The grilled Spanish octopus was minimally charred. The octopus failed to integrate with the low flavor mashed potatoes with peculiar flour-like consistency and underseasoned salsify chips. The bread basket of focaccina should be continued while the complimentary crudité was not only a weird anachronism but also had dried out carrots and browning celery. The décor wasn't 5-star worthy. Opened as Nerano in 2016, the space looks like 1986 with black lacquer chairs and exposed brick floor. The time warp was enhanced by mostly 80s pop music. Although Yelp stated dressy, the attire was casual. $10 valet parking. read more

We had a wonderful time dining at Nerano's outdoor patio. Our favorite dish was the famous Caesar salad, and we really enjoyed the cactus cocktails (although they could have been a little stronger!). Our waitress was amazing - probably one of the best we've ever had. We felt very safe there because it was spaced out and they took temperature at the door. Came here for an all girls birthday, very small dark and romantic place. Not fit for a bunch of single girls lol. You pulled up had valet service which is good because parking is hard. The place was small downstairs where we had dinner, we went on a Sunday and found out Friday and Saturday nights they do have an upstairs roof type part only available those 2 days. The food was amazing but on the smaller size, for the amount you paid for. But I understand it's the Quality of the food and it was worth it. Especially their truffle pizza omg. I'm updating my previous experience due in part to a recent event that happened. For context, I have always loved Nerano and the food at the restaurant are excellent. I even celebrated my birthday with dinner with friends there in 2021. However, a few weeks ago I encountered a man with the valet company associated with Nerano and for whatever reason he began hurling homophobic slurs to the point where my friend had to interject and were promptly shown the door. It's extremely heartbreaking and almost unbelievable that in this day and age and esp. somewhere that "celebrates diversity" that this situation happened. I am still very shaken up by the incident to have someone screaming homophobic slurs, my friend had to call and report to the valet to management. Of which we have received no response. I find it deeply disturbing that the restaurant would condone any sort of action like this. Any LGBT members I would not recommend patronizing this restaurant as clearly they have issues with gay men coming. Unbelievable, shocking and disgusting and extremely unfortunate for what was once one of my favorite restaurants in the area. read more

Nerano - Italian Near Me - Beverly Hills, California

So it was about time to take my girlfriend out for a nice Italian dinner (her favorite), as a late Christmas gift and 6 mos. anniversary celebration. I had never been to Nerano, but chose it because of its West LA proximity, and because they serve a pasta bolognese (her favorite). No spending limit here; fully prepared to pay for a nice quality evening. We visited on a Sunday evening, Jan 21. Not knowing what crowds to expect, I called the day before and placed a reservation. We easily found street parking and the main entrance, hidden down a quiet alley between buildings. As it turns out, I think we had the place mostly to ourselves when we arrived at 6pm, which was a pleasant surprise. Our table was to the right, up against the wall, on which was hung two eye-catching photographs of a Weimaraner positioned alertly on various home effects. Likely a product of the artist William Wegman, as my girlfriend astutely observed. Our server (Almando?) gave us a warm greeting and brought sparkling water and an amuse-bouche of sliced fresh vegetables over ice (bell peppers, carrots..) and a balsamic dipping sauce, which I would put on everything if I had some at home. The lady ordered a glass of the red Leviathan Cabernet blend, and I had the Galerie Sauvignon Blanc, which was very balanced between dry and sweet. Our antipasti of choice was the Burrata Caprese, a simple but elegant plate of sliced tomatoes, fresh burrata (mozzarella), and a large leaf of basil. Probably the best mozzarella I've had. One of the evening's specials was an Icelandic halibut, and I don't think I even looked at the menu after hearing that. The fish was served with some roasted / glazed vegetables and thick asparagus, which was perfectly done and not soggy or drowning in sauce. My girlfriend had the Garganelli al Ragu, which also provided a savory next-day lunch. Then came everyone's favorite - the dessert! We split the Nocciolino (the carrot cake was our 2nd choice), and I also sampled the suggested digestif pairing (Quinta do Vallado Tawny Port, 20 yr), which subtly complemented the chocolate tones. We didn't dine at Nerano but just dropped by for their late night hideaway hour at the lounge upstairs and we had a great time. The bartenders were fun to talk to, and they were really attentive and careful in crafting each cocktail. There was a DJ and the music was alright, a mix of hip hop mostly, but they played the same song about 5 times in the 1-2 hrs we were there, which was unusual. As the night went on, the music got louder, so loud at one point that we couldn't hear each other talking, so we decided to leave, but I would probably still come back to hang out here. The drinks were nice and strong, and several cocktails are only $8 during apertivo hour. We also ordered the zucchini shoestring fries and these weren't anything to rave about. They were soggy and really oily without much flavor but it was still nice to have something to munch on. There was a birthday party going on upstairs when we got there so mostly everyone there was a part of that but more people started rolling in around 11. Overall it was a fun place to unwind and enjoy a drink with some good company! I'd want to come back to actually dine in and try their food. read more

I'm really not impressed with Nerano at all. The service is mediocre and,our bus person, Francisco, was the best part of the experience. The restaurant is very pretty, but we were way underwhelmed with everything else. I know your restaurant loves truffles, but it's a little too much that they are offered with everything from appetizers to dessert. I mean vanilla gelato with truffles? Not good! We had great Duckhorn Chardonnay and margaritas and liked the wine list. We also enjoyed the crudités served before dinner. The calamari with zucchini was good but the tarragon dipping sauce was awful. We also had the eggplant Parmesan which was fair, the princepessa pizza, and the linguini and clams. Nothing stood out as wonderful. For dessert we had the salted caramel and vanilla gelato. The caramel was good but the vanilla was not. Maybe we should have gotten the truffles after all! Had lunch here at the suggestion of some colleagues. Great choice. Atmosphere was relaxing and seemed far removed from the maddening crowds of Century City and Beverly Hills, even though the location is smack in between both. Menu had a diverse selection so lots of great choices. I started with the Ahi Tuna appetizer, which was excellent. Very fresh with a hint of dressing that augmented the flavors of the dish rather than mask it. Pleasantly surprised to find Santa Barbara Spot Prawns on the menu. Delicious!! WOW! Honestly, I never leave reviews but I felt like Nerano deserved one. I am so glad my boyfriend took me to Nerano for our anniversary! He knows how much I LOVE Italian food. Spending the weekend in Beverly Hills was already enough, but Nerano topped it off for sure! I highly recommend anyone to come have some delicious Italian food. My daughter and her fiancé took us to Nerano, Beverly Hills for my birthday as a surprise. It was the best dining experience I have had in many years! The atmosphere, food, and service were all fabulous! I had the pasta special with swordfish. It was melt-in-your-mouth wonderful! My husband had the Filet Mignon and said it was excellent. Then to top off the evening, we had 3 desserts to share - Chocolate Moose, Olive Cake, Italian Cheesecake (Torta Formaggio). Delizioso!! I didn't want to leave! I'm not going to knock the food completely - it was decent. I'm giving this such a poor review because this is the MOST overpriced restaurant I've been to in an extremely long time. I know it's LA, and everything is pricey, but it was $11 for a side of asparagus with maybe... three pieces? And $30 for a pasta dish with vegetables. If this had been the best food of my life, I wouldn't say anything. For a mediocre Italian meal - it's outrageous. For two drinks and two pasta dishes it was $150 (I didn't want to stiff the tip cause it wasn't he servers fault). This place is ridiculous. If you want to overspend, fine go here - it's not that much of scene though. If you want a decent Italian meal just go a little further into Beverly Hills and pick one of many other restaurants. read more

This restaurant is my new favorite! The food is BEYOND EXCELLENT and so was the service. The maître d was so accommodating, he was able to squeeze me and my husband in on a Friday night with last minute notice. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about each and every dish. Since this was our first time dining at this establishment we wanted to try many dishes. She suggested we order half orders of the pasta so we could try more than one! The Branzino is presented whole with head and tail at the table by the chef prior to him filleting and cooking it. We were both very impressed by the entire dining experience at Nerano. Went here for the second time last night with friends. They are semi regulars here. Cocktails are measured by the bartender. First strike when they charge over $20 per drink! The restaurant is using a large tented area in back to seat most guests. We had a nondescript table. Waiter was nice, courteous and very capable. The prices at Nerano are seriously inflated! $86 for a veal chop!! Every pasta dish is at least $29, for pasta!! Other entrees are on the smaller side. Wine pours are skimpy. This place isn't that good to charge these prices. Don't go here if you want good food at reasonable prices! Dinner for four $600.00!! Outrageous. read more

Nothing has knocked my socks off quite like this hot new joint in a while. First of all, the cocktails. Wow. My favorite? The speziato. I love the balance between sweet and savory. All LOOK amazing and I can't wait to try them all! The food? Well I've never had a better pasta. This was one of the best Italian meals I've had in LA. It feels new and different for Beverly Hills, and I love the exposed brick, modern Italian interior. We started with wonderful aperitif cocktails, a delicious margherita pizza, Carciofi e Piselli which was a delightful salad, the eggplant Parmesan (also great)and uni burrata toast-- YUM. Followed by Spaghetti alla Nerano, their signature pasta which did not disappoint, Pasta alla Norma and Pasta Mare-- ALL were so authentic to the Amalfi Coast and so tasty. We finished off with the chocolate pudding dessert, torta Della nonna which was the best I've ever had, perfect panna cotta an the olive oil cake. Wouldn't have ordered one thing differently. Tldr; go immediately. It's rare that a restaurant can knock it out of the park on all fronts. The food is inspired, the cocktails are delicious, and the service is impeccable. It's likely that within a very short period of time, you won't be able to get a reservation, that's how good it is. The house pasta is insane. Like. Bonkers good. The truffle pizza is everything you want it to be. The burrata starter with uni is absolutely stellar, the perfect pairing of mild fresh burrata and subtle sea urchin. I work a couple doors down and I can confidently say the area is alarmingly deficient of good eatery options (the after work cocktail and tasty bites kind). So, needless to say, we were awaiting Nerano's opening with bated breath. I'm elated (and relieved) to report that we are not disappointed. With an upstairs lounge where expert bartender Yoni serves up delish cocktails (off-menu specialties too, if you ask nicely), this joint is my new post-work heaven. Great atmosphere - classy restaurant downstairs, swanky lounge upstairs - a little something for everyone. Also, Nick, the GM, is incredibly friendly and accommodating. He went out of his way to give us a little pre-opening tour of the space (how's that for neighborly love?). Last, but not least, discerning tastes agree that the menu is on point. We had burrata (always a great choice), calamari dish (love the twists they put on this), orchiette pasta (yes), and meat/cheese plate (standard). The takeaway re cuisine is that it's reliably tasty, nothing out of the box, but incredibly solid. Between the faithfully Italian menu and the fantastic cocktail selection, you can't go wrong. I just had a very disappointing experience at Nerano. The waiter told us the specials so quickly we had barely settled into our seats. We realized that he was likely going to rush us, so we simply ordered our appetizer--octopus. I am a great fan of octopus dishes at various Italian restaurants around town (notably at the Drago brothers' restaurants) but this dish consisted of large very bland strips of octopus on top of bland mashed potatoes. After eating our appetizers, we gave him our entree orders. Since I ordered a pizza, I thought that there would be no chance of getting our food too quickly given the time it takes to cook a pizza. To my astonishment, my pizza and my husband's spot prawns were brought to our table about 5 minutes later. I was baffled but when I took a bite of pizza, I understood how this had happened. The pizza was only luke warm. (I understand that the prosciutto and arugula were added after the pizza was finished; but I don't understand why the crust was not hot.) The young man who was our waiter never came back to our table until after our plates were cleared. He asked how everything was and I asked whether the pizza crusts were cooked in advance because mine was not warm. He told me that was not possible--that all pizzas were cooked to order. He told me that he had come by to ask how our entrees were and I had not said anything then. I told him that was not the case -- that the last time he came to our table was when we were eating octopus. He told me I was wrong. Basically, every time I said something he refuted it. I asked him why he was debating me -- wasn't I the customer? He walked away and I could see him talk to the manager. The manager, by the way, did not come over to our table after the waiter talked to him. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in town and bar to go to in Beverly Hills. My favorite is to come sit at the downstairs bar with a girl friend where the expert bar tenders will make a beautiful drink creation for you and have a bite of the authentic Italian food by chef Michele. For lunch, I love their light selections of salads and seared tuna, and for dinner I usually like the special pasta of the day (last night was perfect al dente chitarra with hint of lemon zest), or the signature pasta Nerano with zucchini and squash blossoms, which is incredible. PRO TIP: get the Una Figata cocktail. It's made with cana brava reserve aneja, wildflower honey, cinnamon, st elizabeth allspice dram, and mission black figs. I brought a date here a few weeks ago. The decor, the open kitchen, it was all just right. We sat at the bar and ate dinner, and so the bartender waited on us. He was very busy, but gave us just the right amount of service, not too much, not too little. My date had the branzino which was flavorful, properly seasoned and I loved the green sauce on the side. I had the clams linguini, and I loved it. Presentation, A. Flavor A. Most clam linguini is too salty, or has too much brine. this was just right, with enough clams to be a great bite, but not too sauced. I am fanatical about my pastas and this was done properly. Toscano in Brentwood is one of our favorite restaurants, so when we heard the same folks were opening a new restaurant named Nerano in Beverly Hills, we were anxious to try it out. The ambiance at Nerano is quite different than Toscano, more trendy and chic, but it's got the same quiet atmosphere, subdued lighting, and excellent service as Toscano. We especially loved the booths in the back, perfect for date night. The food was all cooked perfectly, and the gnudi, which are sort of like gnocci but made from ricotta cheese and truffles, will melt in your mouth. On the dessert menu, don't miss the bignolata and the nocciolino, both are divine. We have already added Nerano to our short list of "repeaters," we will be back for sure. Only a stone's throw from Sfixio but a much much better experience in every way. Highly recommended. read more
