The experience of the restaurant is fun- lots of details went into decor and menu wording. The food is kind of hit or miss. The chicken nuggets were great, the chicken jalapeño salad had hardly any dressing mostly just oil, the kids marinara pasta sauce was very interesting. The sauce tasted like a lot of oregano, like they put too much Italian seasoning in the thin sauce. The desserts are fun and the milkshake is insanely big and fun to share. The videos at the table can't be beat, a fun activity for the group to play together. Our server Lexi was very sweet and made sure everyone was happy at our table even our crazy 2 year old. This was a nifty cool setup. Everyone seemed to be on an electronic device, or with a pal. I was greeted, which should always happen, but I had never been here, so I need time to observe the menu. The menu was a bit confusing and was bit. I saw pastries in the counter, drinks, on the bird, an area for sandwiches but I did see any in the counter, a spot for making them, so I was afraid to ask about that. I asked about a frozen café and after the employee description, I still was lost and pondering. But I still ended up getting a frozen cafe. There is a little shop facing the front of the counter, the seating along the whole cafe, and plenty of games ranging for 1 player- a whole gang. Absolutely the cutest coffee shop I've ever been to! They have this really cool machine that you can upload pics to and it will drop a thin layer of coffee powder on top of your drink in the design you chose. I didn't really want to download the app, but they did have some templates already in the system so the barista was nice enough to pick the cutest ones they had. I got two lattes: one hazelnut and one vanilla. Both were delicious! I also ordered the cinnamon toast which is toast that's shaped almost like a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon flavor was too subtle and the toast was a little hard so I would probably avoid getting that the next time I visit. They have plenty of seating inside and outside. It would be a great place to meet up with friends because they have a large variety of board games that you can play while you're there and also some for sale in this little nook in front of the register. This place is NOT baby or toddler friendly and does not have high chairs (fine by me). It is expensive here but conversely they allow you to stay as long as you want with a small minimum per-person purchase. Food is quite good and we've enjoyed everything we have ordered. There are better game systems to choose from if you come with a smaller group. I have a lot of kids so I am limited on what system we can use and the remotes often don't work. Cool place but NOT TODDLER FRIENDLY. Parents are always trying to look for fun places to take their kiddos so I was excited when I found Nerdvana. We traveled from an hour away to check it out. I have one teenager, one preteen, and two toddlers. First red flag was they had no highchairs. Ummmmm.....we expect toddlers to sit still in a booth or table for an hour while we eat? Okay. Toddlers obviously can't play video games but they bring controllers for everyone so we have meltdown in an open space because, again, I can't let them have a controller and no highchair. Then she breaks it to me that they don't have menus. You have to use a QR code and your phone to view the menu. I'm the only one at a table of 5 with a phone, so I'm trying to figure out food for five people while I have a toddler melting down. Some of you are probably thinking, well get control of your child.....it's more complicated than that and anyone who has a kiddo with sensory issues (or autism) might understand better. Anyway, we last a whole 15 minutes before I had to pack us up and go. Of course my older kiddos were disappointed. Every restaurant should accommodate babies and toddlers, but this one does not. Our waiter was nice and I assume they're short staffed from covid, but things such at keeping drinks filled and getting someone over to log in our tv for video games wasn't terrific. The food was pretty good. I had the chicken Parmesan sandwich. The fries tasted fantastic, but my food didn't come out hot. I took half of it to go and there wasn't a container to take my marinara sauce to go. The HADOUKEN BEEF appetizer was super good, but it only comes with 3 pieces of meat. Downside, they don't allow balloons (totally understandable) because they get stuck in the high ceilings. They also don't allow outside food at all (we brought in a birthday cake). Update...This was our 2nd try, and we had dinner. The food is a little pricey and not that great. I had the brick chicken and did not care for it at all. The mashed potatoes were super dry, and the chicken was a bit fatty because of the skin. It lacked flavor, as well. The lemon rosemary sauce was good. My husband had the smoked salmon salad. The heirloom tomatoes and colored carrots were very good, but smoked salmon should be in small portions. The smoke was very over powering. I can't say we will be back, at least not to eat. It has a very cool vibe, but we only had drinks. They have a good happy hour, and the menu looks really yummy! It's a cool concept and the people working here were really nice. It just wasn't for us. My expectations weren't high - I was expecting a video game bar, with bar food. Nerdvana aspires to be much more than that (ie an elevated menu) and it definitely feels like a labor of love. It just falls short on the basics. We came in around 445 on a Sunday. The place was maybe 30 percent full. Because we're adults, we were encouraged to sit in the adult-only board game section. This turned out to be a mistake - few people were back there and I think we may have been forgotten about. The whole point of Nerdvana is the video games, so I'd recommend sitting in the video game section, unless you really want to play a board game with friends. We had the cocktails, fried okra, a salad, and 2 pesto pasta dishes with shrimp. Cocktails were quite sweet, everything else was OK. (Overall the kitchen could probably kick the spices up a bit). One of the pasta dishes came out with no shrimp. When we pointed out the error, the serving staff said they'd correct it (ie bring some shrimp), but never did. We didn't hear anything else from them after that, ie never got offered a refill or another drink, never got checked on. We had to flag someone down for the check. I think it's probably really difficult to be a restaurant, and a video game lounge, and a bar, and a coffee shop (and I'm sure covid was really tough on them). I do think everyone was trying their best. I don't personally have the patience for it, but I can definitely see some people being able to see past the flaws and really love it here. read more

(From my experience, I usually don't get the best food from arcades/family fun places). The games were so fun and there were different option consoles. A great place to take children. Not a place I would go without them but still a great place with family

Let me explain why I can't give all 5's cause really they do deserve a high 4 for sure but when you put 2 MEAN hosts at the host staff u lose stars. Managements gets to get this fixed. There was a super short hair tall girl. Very soft spoken that had no control of the waiting area and then there was "eyebrows" the meanest of all mean supposedly greeter. Y'all if u see her at the front turn around and leave cause her favorite word is no and we can't. We can't sit u, you can't stand here, you need to move, you can't drink here. No joke this is all she said for 65 mins wait to ALL parties that walked in the door. She needs to be in the back away from customers cause her face says I'm not happy. The food was outstanding!! Shocking for a gaming place but the food was amazing. We had a party of 12 and they all loved their food. The service was top notch. I didn't catch the kids name but he was fantastic great personality and smiled. The guy who sat us was so sweet. I think he knew he was working with Cinderella's step sister and actually apologized. And the set up is perfect. If u love video games and food this is your place however the food is NOT cheap. So get ready for a $25-$30 meal but again worth it in my opinion. My quest for coffee places that offer latte art shall go on! The last 3-4 coffee places we went to were all disappointing. I had to take a little break to "recover" from that. Nerdvana came to my rescue and gave me hope again :) Saw Nerdvana next door to Burger 21 when I was walking in for the Yelp event. I knew it was a sign, and I had to check this place out, especially after indulging all the yummy burger bites,a hot cup of coffee or tea was needed to wash it down. Spacious!! That was my first impression of this place. The baristas were very friendly and helpful. It was love at first sign, or sound in this case, when they told me all their lattes come with almond milk by default, not only that, no sugar is added unless you request for it specifically. While waiting for my matcha greetea latte being made, I took a look around their indoor area, they have a large selection of collectible items for sale, many game boards, card games, interesting tables with more game boards under the glass, glossy table top. The name is definitely fitting. It is indeed nerds' heaven right here. The matcha greentea latte here is probably the best one I have had. Mainly because I can taste the greentea so much more without the distracting sweetness. I would have given them a full 5 stars and gone out of my way to come here often if they could be consistent with their latte art. I was so disappointed to see just a regular cup of latte with foam, especially after seeing a few pictures on yelp with interesting design for latte art. I'll come back here again tho, and hopefully after next time, I can happily update my review and give them a full 5 stars and a new picture with some cool latte art. read more

I came in around 12:30 in the afternoon for a study sesh with my younger sister and it wasn't too crowded! It was definitely hard finding an outlet since there isn't much option unless you sit at a wall table, which basically you face a wall instead of the person you want to talk to, but it's whatever. We went to order coffees at the front and since it was our first time here, we asked the gentleman in the front what were some good options, what coffee has what etc. Without a doubt, the staff in the front looked at us if we were stupid?? The gentleman was snarky and rude answering our questions.. and it wasn't a great, friendly experience as I was expecting. However, the coffees were delicious! After looking at all the signs and realizing there was no password listed for the WiFi, we asked the same gentleman in the front & got the same snarky, rude reply. The restaurant is understaffed so they were unable to serve the the lattes. What I liked was the server was helpful and offered to add vanilla and cream to the cold brew so I opted to have that and it was perfect! She was friendly and very accommodating. They have like 6 different tv/consoles at the bar and a variety of consoles installed at every booth. Atmosphere is like a gamers playground, very cool. Service was great, i usually opt to sit at the bar at any place i go. Service is typically more personable and efficient that way. Haley(?) was our bartender, she was great! I don't think you can find another coffee place in the vicinity (Frisco or Plano) as spacious as this one - high ceiling, long order counter, tables widely spaced out, etc. What is unique about this place is they provide board games (I think) for you to play. I did see a few groups of people playing scrabble in a civilized manner. I ordered a soy latte, trying to be health-conscious. It tasted very smooth with a relatively thick layer of foam at the top. I did like the delightful espresso flavor. They did play some music, but it was so soft that I could barely hear what was being played. The decor is quite modern and not overly adorned. The roominess is definitely a selling point. If you need a place to take a break and relax after walking around the Frisco City Hall area, come on in and give it a try. For the spacious setting, relaxing atmosphere, and innovative business idea, I would give it a 4-star rating. I'll come back and try another drink and pastry. One of the places my boyfriend wanted to try! This place is cool! It's really tech savvy looking on the inside and there's screens and controllers everywhere. It's a classy set up that doesn't seem too thrown together or cramped. There's a bar in the middle, tables scattered around and along the wall are booths with their own TV and consoles. We were seated at a booth with Mario Kart for brunch. And oh man, I had no idea how to use a D-Pad to guide me anymore, the whole time I was like "WHERE'S MY JOY STICK. OMG. NOOOOO" lol. It was a fun way to pass time while waiting for our food! I ordered the Crab Cakes Benedict. I thought the roasted red pepper would mess up the amazingness of the classic sauce but it didn't! It actually ENHANCED it! It was so good. And mixed with the Crab Cakes? YAAAS. The potatoes were okay but I wasn't in love with them. I think I would had preferred Hash browns. Also the chef was playing with the ketchup creation while we were there and I don't know what it was mixed with but it was pretty good and a bit sweet! The boyfriend got the Chicken Melt and OHMYGOODNESS. The cheese game on that thing was amazing! The chicken was nicely made and it went so well with everything that it came with. The mustard on the side they give you has a bit of a Wasabi heat to it and I wouldn't recommend eating it by itself but on the melt it blended so perfectly! This restaurant is one of those concepts where you wish you had thought of it first - super unique! The space is beautiful and the vibe is modern and trendy with a video game theme throughout. Literally. There are video games and TVs at majority of the tables, anyone sitting at the bar can play video games on the large bar TVs (these TVs do not connect to cable and will not play sports FYI), there are deconstructed game consoles decorating the walls, TV screens on the ceiling, dishes and drinks named after game characters, etc. They really nailed the theme beyond expectations without making the restaurant feel cheesy or tacky. Now onto the food and drink... The chicken melt sandwich is RIDICULOUS. We were fortunate enough to try an assortment of menu samples one evening and let me tell you - if I saw this item on the menu I would never order it. Most of the ingredients (ham, Dijon, cheese, fried chicken between bread) are just not my thing, but boy was I surprised. The fried chicken was so crispy and came out piping hot. The way all of the ingredients complemented one another really made for a tasty dish. I can't emphasize enough - ORDER THE CHICKEN MELT. The seared beef appetizer was another standout for me. The beef is incredibly tender. I will warn those sensitive to heat that the marinade/pickled veggies are spicy. I am on the wimpy side of the heat spectrum, but was able to finish it (barely). It was worth the pain, ha! The french toast was huge and delicious. I loved that the bourbon maple syrup was light and the dish itself was not overly sweet. The french toast is made with brioche and sprinkled with Texas pecans. The favorite cocktails" **The Kristige (pineapple vodka, jalapeno infused simple syrup, muddled mango and lemon juice) - it was like a tropical vacation with a kick! On the sweeter side, but the jalapeno mellows it out without being too spicy. **The Critical Hit (bulleit rye, absinthe rinse, simple syrup, bitters) - this is the drink for those who like 'em strong. The absinthe gives the cocktail a very aromatic smell and taste, but isn't overpowering at all. If anything, it's a unique way to enjoy bulleit especially when you're tired of Old Fashions and Manhattans. Everything is made in house - including the cocktail syrups and mixers. The chef is incredibly friendly, no ego, and you can tell is cooking because he's passionate and loves seeing the joy his food brings to others. Many of the dishes had a spicy element, so this is certainly a spot for anyone who loves heat. However, I found plenty of options for myself as well! read more

This place is a new favorite of mine. Not only is the coffee selection great, the setting is spot on for a relaxing location. The decor fuels the environment even more. The tables are big enough to play many of the games and it's not overly loud with cheesy starbucks style music. You can actually talk and think and not go crazy! The variety of board games is what sets this place apart from most coffee shops. It's not just have a drink and mingle.
