Fairly busy the night I stopped in. A bit of a wait for a table (for one), was seated in the upstairs area. Nice atmosphere, and the upstairs was very reasonably quiet (downstairs seating much more full and noisy). Service was reasonabley quick. Selection was the usual wide variety similar to many Asian restaurants. I was happy that their Shrimp with Lobster Sauce was of the brown variety (dislike the clear/white version). Food came out fairly fast, and was hot, and tasty. Although I'd been a bit wary of trying New Dragon due to some negative yelp reviews, I was quite happy with everything, and would definitely go again, and/or order take out. read more

Having never been in a North Korean prison, I can only speculate that the food at New Dragon is the worst in the world -- but I'm willing to bet it is. From the raw doughy steamed dumplings to the microwaved chow mein topped with a courtesy sprinkle of boot leather pork strips, the hits kept on coming. But the pièce de resistance was the Yung Chow fried rice: a pile of white rice tossed with hot, slimy lettuce and....you guessed it....HAM CHUNKS. Tasty food at a great price. I had the udon soup which was ok, not a lot of flavor. Their shrimp fried rice made up for it. The fried rice had a lot of flavor and was a huge portion. The also had a drink called a Sangrita... AMAZING. As you may have guessed, its sangria and a margarita combined... I think it was my favorite part. read more

Wow, this is really good Chinese food. I mean really, I'm a sucker for Jackie's Galaxy but if I lived closer to Narragansett I'd be happy ordering from here anytime. So the items I ate (aka devoured) included: Lo Mein, Chicken Fingers, Boneless Spareribs, Beef Teriyaki, Crab Rangoons and Hot & Sour soup. Not only do I have 0 complaints about any of them, but they were all delicious. And let me add some yummy emphasis to the duck sauce, because it was faaaaaantastic. Dipping those little crabby rangoonies in it was like pure heaven. The place isn't anything to look at, but the take-out is just fine. And they give you TONS of food as well. I think we must have gotten 20 crab rangoons. There were leftovers, and if you know crab rangoons, you know there's no such thing as leftovers! My only complaint is that my fortune cookie told me I was a bad cook and should order take-out more often. Ha! read more

Honestly, the food here can be pretty good. Well then, why the one star review... We frequently order from New Dragon and we live twenty minutes away. Despite a total of forty minutes that we were willing to drive, we won't be doing it anymore. Unfortunately, I've had far too many instances with incorrect orders recently. Every single time we've ordered in the past six months they have not only forgotten at least one item but they have consistently short changed us, this time it was for over five dollars. We send someone to pick it up and it usually this isn't noticed until we are at home twenty minutes away. We do call and they say they will give us the money or food item that was forgotten. Who is going to remember that because we never seem to. It's a complete pain and I can't stand paying for something that I didn't get. This time not only were we short changed. We asked for well done chicken wings they were literally pink in the middle and inedible. We ordered egg rolls and they weren't included. My father who picked up the food brought a list with him with that had every item ordered because they forget something every time. The worker went thorough the list with him and checked each item off stating it was packed in the box. The egg rolls weren't in there. How is it that even with double checking a list you can't get it right, sigh. I'm so sick of being short changed, not having an item I paid for, or both. You may be alright if you dine in, you can send undercooked items back or tell the waitstaff if they short changed you. It's happened to me before here, the waitress tried to short me $20 which she did give back. I'm done with New Dragon and if I could give no stars I would. read more

If you ever go out to dinner at this place please do not order sushi. I started with an appetizer and ordered a garden salad which I almost sent back. The lettuce was extremely old and had a yellow tint. The "ginger" dressing may have been soured as well. The sushi was tiny and wasn't completely wrapped. When I ate a piece of sushi, the content fell out. I will not be coming back. read more

I think that this place could be so much better. We sat at the bar to have some cocktails and dinner. They had FOX News blasting on both TVs -- could have been music which would have encouraged conversation. Instead we had "hell yeahs" based on Fox News reporting. Not all that appetizing. The drinks were okay but the food really was not good. My partner ordered his chicken dish spicy, it was not, it was super mild with dark sticky gravy, yuck. I got General Tso's which was huge, but overfried and no finesse, not very good. Hopefully they can fix some of the issues here. read more

Honestly one of my favorite places to get Chinese! Since Chens closed, I come here often to get my favorites - Sesame Chicken, Crab Ragoon, and sushi! Always consistent and delicious! If your here from out of town, or just a local, give this place a try! Drinks are strong and delicious too! There is one thing that keeps me coming back to New Dragon: the General Tso's chicken. I've been to a lot of Chinese restaurants in the past, but New Dragon has this really unique batter that they use for their Gen Tso's/sesame chicken and comes out by far better than any other restaurant I've been to. It keeps its shape, doesn't get soggy, and makes sure the chicken is moist. I have URI college friends who are from Massachusetts and now live in Florida, who will visit and always make the trip to New Dragon because it is by far better than anything they've had. Other than that, the service always fast, portions are large and wait staff is usually pretty good but can be a hit or miss. Sure there is variability with staff turnover but that has been easy to ignore given the great food. read more

A solid, American-style Chinese restaurant conveniently located near the Narragansett beaches and URI that features those traditional favorites we all love. Everything we ordered -- from the hot, crunchy egg rolls and Moo Goo Gai Pan to Buddha's Delight -- arrived hot and was filled with an abundance of fresh vegetables. The restaurant's atmosphere is a bit sparse, but it appears clean and had it not been for the peculiar manager who sat in the booth across from us and watched us eat, I might even honor the experience with a fifth star. New Dragon Specials, my favorite drinkie-pooh lunch or dinner very good prices & portions I went & dined inside instead of getting take out. I do love the new look & feel to the place! All wood walls, new pictures, the bathrooms were redone, it looks GREAT! Took the kids out, they love to get "Shirley Temples" and they will split D31. I usually get Hunan Chicken or the Chicken & Garlic Sauce. I am a fan of sweet duct sauce, so we always need extra of that to go with our Crab Rangoons.... I go here all the time, best place in town. New Dragon is my go-to favorite of the South County Americanized Chinese food joints. My staple meal is the beef teriyaki combo - which is consistently delicious and what I've gotten here since long before it was called New Dragon. Sure teriyaki is actually a Japanese dish, and I can't stand the new trend with all our local Chinese restaurants adding sushi, nim chow, pad thai etc to a Chinese menu - but teriyaki has been that crossover dish since I was knee high to a grasshopper. I also really enjoy the yang chow fried rice and the sauteed green beans and would suggest them highly to anyone who thinks they sound like something they would like. If you're looking for a solid choice for standard Americanized Chinese (now all-Asian) cuisine, then New Dragon is a must try while you're in the greater Narragansett/South Kingstown area. read more

I hate leaving bad reviews but the food was so unsatisfactory that I'm upset I paid for it! I eat Chinese food all of the time, it's like my comfort food (since I'm Chinese). Flavors and taste was not to my liking so this just may be personal preference. General Tsos chicken and chicken wings with oyster sauce. Did not like either dish. if you are going to put "oyster sauce" in the name- you might want to put some on there. Also they do not split the chicken wings- just goes to show you that they don't do the extra work to make it easier to eat. read more
