First impression is this is a good sized restaurant that tries to cater to everyone's fancies. It has the deli meat, the HK style Chinese dishes, the traditional Chinese / Taiwanese dishes and the current sensation of fusion creations. Since this was my 1st visit, I stuck with the classics: Soy sauce chicken & BBQ pork over a bed of rice and a bowl of Beef stew wonton noodles. The See Tau Por recommended the beef stew / wonton noodles saying the stew meat is juicy & tender and the rich flavor will compliment the plumb wontons nicely. I was like, sure, I'm down for plumb wontons. I also got a cup of hot milk tea on her suggestion as she said their tea is especially potent, guaranteed to keep me up at night. I chuckled, saying I'm dogged tired and need my sleep but I also fancy a nice cup of hot milk tea with my grub. My conclusion? She had good suggestions. I hate this place. The service is so bad, they're so slow even when there aren't that many customers. They're so understaffed in the kitchen. I went in today and waited like 30 minutes for a tiny bowl of porridge. Then waited another 15 minutes for my fried noodle to come out and when it finally came it was cold. Gotta throw out 5 stars for my family's favorite spot for casual Cantonese food - This place is great! Even my picky-eating Hong Kong immigrant parents love it - so I know I'm not wrong. They have a great BBQ counter for quick tasty food at terrific prices. We come here for the standard Hong Kong fare, which is really good here! BBQ pork, crispy pork, duck - done right for sure. Wonton noodle soup - solid gold (springy noodles, good broth, firm tasty wontons. Salt and pepper shrimp - the best we've had in a while! Service is great. Don't be fooled by the name. There's nothing new about the fusion.. Just traditional Hong Kong fare, which is kind of a fusion, I guess. Bf was craving dimsum and we were in the Arcadia area so i yelped a new one to try. We did the same not too long ago and tried Tong Tak and when we parked saw New Fusion amd said we will try it next time. Sure enough, it showed up on my Yelp so we went there. We were seated briefly and wrote our dim sum orders on the paper. The bbq baled buns came very shortly. Granted, i did see some of the dim sum dishes premade so im guessing this is one of them (guessing as to not assume). 20 minutes later the rest came around and we were about finished with our lunch when we noticed the steamed beef balls and pan fried pork buns had not come. We waited some more and 45 mins past the order was placed, i decided to just cancel the order. The person i waived down seemed like the owner or person in charge (not the manager as i heard a waiter call manager in csntonese and it addressed a female). He said that takes awhile and he will check on it. I said to just cancel as we waited over 30 mins. He came back and said its almost done and i advised its been over 45 mins. He looked at his watch, acknowledged the time and said he will cancel it. I then asked for the check and he walked away annoyed. No pan fried buns takes that long and i didnt even bring up the steamed beef balls which i saw served to a party who came after us. No biggie, but i think a simple apology or acknowledgement that they mightve made a mistake wouldve been proper but no - just the check and he walked away just as annoyed. We paid the bill with still a 15% tip as our drinks were always filled so the service is decent with drinks but wait time for food is where i deduct my stars. I guess this is a reason why i stick with the regular dim sum places who have been around for years and still have a half hr wait timencoz food is always fresh and timing is decent and service is good. I looked into my Yelp and realized i tried the same place but in Azusa and had the same issue. I hope the owners of this restaurant take this critism to up their game as we all know, asian food in the SGV is competitive...youre either not great at service but have quality food that people will deal with the not so great service or immaculate service where people are okay with your mediocre food. This place had mediocre food and lacked timing of food delivery. On a brighter note, their roast pork looked very fresh and crispy although i didnt order it this time, maybe i will give them a second try but i think the owners need to hear their patrons and make improvements. Very very bad experience. one day morning, it wasn't that busy but we were sitting there for 14 mins without server. I have to call them to get their attention. We ordered very quick and waited other 15 mins to our first dish-youtiao , then other 10 mins to get the second one-noodle soup. We ordered three, the last one didn't come until we asked for the bill. We didn't eat it and requested to cancel, the server wasn't happy and threw her attitude to us. What the hell!!! My kids seem to enjoy the comfortable seating atmosphere vs. the dim sum loud and crowded options. In the last 6 months, I can say I've been there 8-10x. It's good; food is good. BUT, the service seems inconsistent. The portions would change each time. The porridge we ordered is usually in a larger bowl, yet for a few times not consecutively they served it to us in a smaller side order bowl. When discussed with the manager, she said that's the only bowl they serve porridge in. 5 minute later, the diners sharing the table with us had the usual larger bowl. I will give -5 stars. I am not a MSG hater, but if you like MSG, that's the place you must love. We went there Saturday night for family gathering, we order 8 dishes and all of them you can taste they have tons of MSG on them. Especially the black pepper steak with onion and dry scallop with egg custard tofu. The beef with no beef favor, only MSG taste. Our family need to drink tons of water afterwards. I think the only thing without MSG were rice and water. That place is big but not many waiters, so it is really hard to get food order. The stragest thing was we finish our dinner, as there were some empty table, therefore we chat a bit. Suddenly there was a waitress came and gave us check and pack up the food. She was like the typical chinese restaurant with lots of people waiting, they want you to leave for others. But there was nobody waiting. Maybe they want the restaurant looks more empty. Quick tips! 1. Although there is an entrance off Baldwin without parking, the huge strip mall behind it has ample parking. Just as a quick piece of advice, I would park as soon as you see a spot in that area behind the restaurant even if it is a bit of a walk. There are usually a lot of people trying to get in. 2. There is quite the extensive menu with many genres and types of food. 3. Usually there are coupons for this place in the clipper magazine that is sent to every household by mail! Look out for their BOGO entree deals. 4. This place seems to be quite busy most of the time, so come to get in earlier. When this place opened up, I wanted to try it because of the hype. In fact it was a friend's parent's friends who opened this place up. Although he told me that the place was only so-so, I rolled in with my family to try this place after seeing an ad for their Hong Kong cafe style and Chinese style offerings. As we came in, we noticed how busy the place was and were excited by this because a busy restaurant is always a good sign. We were seated pretty quickly and the service was pretty mediocre. As is, when a restaurant is busy, small things like a cup of ice water and so forth are forgotten. One of the things that also happens is apparently you run out of real cups for ice water--they resorted to using plastic cups to serve ice water to customers. This was something that already put me off about this place. How is it possible for a restaurant of that size to not have a good dishwashing line constantly cleaning and washing plates and cups all the time? After pouring through their extensive menu, we decided on three dishes. One rib eye steak that we saw on an ad, a dry spicy free range chicken clay pot, and a special battered fried shrimp with egg yolk. All three dishes were extremely disappointing. For the special battered fried shrimp with egg yolk, the batter was extremely thick and largely the shrimp was unseasoned. The presentation was actually really nice and the shrimp looked nice and large, but failed to live up to it's delicious looking expectations. For the uninitiated, this is supposed to be a signature Cantonese dish and it didn't come close to being anything praiseworthy. With the spicy clay pot free range chicken, the chicken being used was only the bony areas of the chicken. I am talking about eating parts of the chick neck, feet, etc. There was never a drum stick, wing, or any pieces of chicken breast. Just the discarded bony parts were stuck into the clay pot. Furthermore, to add to the unauthentic call out from before, there were POTATOS in the clay pot. For those fanatics of dry clay pot, you know the standard fare is to add bean spouts, garlic, onions, and cabbage to these kinds of dishes to absorb the hot oil, meat oils, and spices. Utterly disappointing. Lastly, for the ribeye steak, I was utterly appaled at the way they handled their meat. First off, I ordered it medium rare as I do with all of my steaks. It arrived medium-well done, on the more well done side. As if that was not already enough to send the steak back, it looked gray and not fully grilled as the pictures suggest. Furthermore, when cutting into the meat the meat was not tender and was cold in the middle, which leads me to my next point on their preparation of the steak. Instead it seems like what they do is they prefry up the meat ahead of time, which gives it that grey color. Then, they let it sit on the side in a bin. Only when someone orders the ribeye, they throw it on the grill to warm it up and give it some scorch marks to make it seem like it's off the grill. After all this, it may have been forgiven if the steak actually tasted good. Instead, the steak was incredibly underseasoned and tasted like nothing. In fact, I had to stop a waiter to get me pepper and salt to season it myself. Furthermore, it came with a salad with an incredibly sweet sauce/dressing all over it. If there is a salad included with a steak, they should always ask what dressing a customer wants or at least offer a choice other than just some sweet mess. After all, what if a person is diabetic and wants to have a meal that won't have a lot of carbs? Anyways, I am pretty much done with this place and won't be coming back due to the generally horrible food. However, if you still want to try this place despite my review, I hope you have a different experience then mine! Good eating! read more

The setting is great! The food is really great. They're still in their soft opening, so they didn't have that many selections yet. I ordered three dishes; House Special Chow Mein, Honey Garlic Pork Chop, & Pan fried A Choy. The food was delicious, perfect to my taste buds. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed this place, and we'll definitely come here again to try the rest of the menu. Their service was really great, we were told that they accepted card but their debit/credit machine wasn't working at the time and we didn't have enough cash but they just let us paid what we have. Be careful with this place. They will over charge you. This is the 2nd time I've been to New Fusion. The first time, I got the impression that all the dishes were over charged by 1 dollar. So I went again and this time I wrote the price down on the table mat and sure enough they over charged every dish by 1 dollar. When I brought this to the attention of the manager, she said "oh, it's because at night every dish is 1 dollar more, but you get a bigger portion." I told her unfortunately, you cannot do that. Whatever the price is on the menu is the price. If you charge more for whatever reason without notifying your customers, it's called bait & switch, it's deceptive and illegal. In fact, you could get closed down and face a $250,000 fine. The manager then apologized and said it was a mistake and she'll correct it immediately. So her story then changed from $1 additional because it's evening prices and bigger portions to it's a mistake. I didn't argue with her anymore. On the note of food. The fried pork chop was mostly fat, gristle and bone cartilage. There's definitely a crunch, but its not from the fried batter. When you eat the vegetables, you get a hidden treasure inside, unfortunately, it's a mouthful of sand and dirt. So the food isn't great, but more importantly this place is deceptive. They're under-going construction to include a bbq section in the front of their restaurant. The interior of the restaurant makes it feel like a Chinese diner. Their food is standard when it comes to eating dishes like fried salty pork chops, veggies (some of the beans and kai-lan were very woody, as if too old), their chow mein and chow fun were average at best. The drinks were surprisingly bad. My jasmine green milk tea tasted like iced creamer. I did not get any tea in the drink. They did swap it out for lemon iced tea which was much stronger. I had awesome fast togo service. My kid had an eye appt and we had a wait while his eyes dilated. We don't live in that area, but we wanted to try out an area restaurant and picked New Fusion. Right after we entered I realized we wouldn't have time to sit and eat. So the waiter said no problem we can get you food to go. I only had 10 minutes we could wait. Anyhow we waited and magically in less than 10 minutes we had the honey pork chops, filet lo mein and curry chicken with white rice. The wait staff was very nice and welcoming and the food was very good. We ate the porkchop bites on the way back to the eye drs and they were delightful. When we got home we dug into the curry and lo mein. Everything was delish! If there were more stars to give I would. I would love to go there again and actually sit and eat. Orders were a mess, both the servers and "managers" treat customers like they don't want you to ever come back. I don't know what they are thinking but at least they are right about one thing, I won't ever go back. And there are plenty of other choices around, why would I ever go back? And the food is really nothing to call home about. Food is ok, but it seems to be a little more expensive than the similar restaurant around there. Given the horrible customer service experience, I found no reason for recommending this place.
