I used to come here for lunch, even though it's about 5-10 minutes away, every minute counts when you only have an hour lunch! =P I've tried their pho dac biet, hainam chicken, rice porridge and banh canh noodle. I love khao piak noodle (tapioca noodle) and when I saw that they had it in their menu, I wanted to give it a try. I was a bit disappointed with it because it looked like it was just chicken pho. Nonetheless, it was still good. Pho was good as well. Simon, who is usually there, is super nice and friendly. All the staff are pretty nice actually. I don't give reviews normally. But this place disappointed me. Read the reviews seem like it's a good place so I decide to make an order for pick. 2 large combinations pho and egg rolls and for the pho there are 4small slices of meat not those big thin slice you normally get with pho! The meat are so little and the soup is cold!!! I went to pick up the order 5mins after the call since they told it will be done in that time and we live 5mins away and my soup is cold! So let me preface this with, I'm Vietnamese and I've had many bowls of pho in my life, made at home and in restaurants. But this place is one of the better ones that I've been to throughout the entire states. Never as good as home, but as good as pho can get. The first time we came here, my man got the bun (noodles without broth cooked with a variety of things). He got the beef and the eggrolls without the vegetables and I got the dac biet pho. I loved my pho and so did my guy. His dish was ok but still on the positive side. We got our bill and it was not that much. So like we promised our waiter, we would be back. Second time we came back, we ordered essentially the same things (me the dac biet pho but erich, the bun but this time with vegetables). I really enjoyed Erich's bowl as well as mine but I was definitely loving his bowl. Bun is normally ok to me, that is, when you're not craving some soup, but this bowl was fascinating. The only minor detail were the eggrolls. They were definitely too soggy, no real crunch. Other than, I was ready to order another bowl of both pho and bun. Hmmmm pho. Erich commented that vegetables really made the bun, so for those that decide they want something satisfying, get the bun with the vegeges, thin sliced meat and eggrolls. Yummmm, I'm ready to go back right this minute. But I give this place four stars because the second time I ordered a dac biet pho, I had been gipped. I had no trype and other little goodies, as I usually expect in the dac biet. Disappointing. Also, the iced coffee is subpar here. this compared to other iced coffees was very plasticky, powdered, and tasted like pre made stuff. The way you should expect it to be is to be able to taste the fresh condensed milk seeping through strongly made coffee, making it the just about right creamy and tasty. I've been here before to try the pho and overall, it was just okay. The portion was good but everything else in terms of flavor fell flat. I gave it another shot and tried a cold noodle dish and it was not good at all. The meat was not fresh or tender, the egg roll was not hot and crispy. The broth is amazing! Not too salty and not too sweet. I usually order the combination with extra of everything and a Vietnamese ice coffee. The amount of meat they give is a little short so that is the reason for the extra. If you ever woke up with a terrible hangover, a bowl of pho is perfect for you. When I am not in the mood for soup and noodles, I usually other a rice dish called Log Lac. Its a popular beef sauteed dish serve over fresh veggies and rice. It is one of my favorites. read more

Ima long beach local been everywhere that's anywhere. You know me, the only pho is in Santana,gg. I hate to say it but , lbc don't have any pho, pho is Vietnamese. Back in the day this spot here used to be pho54 and it was bomb. The crowded dining room and the fact that you always ran into someone you know shows it. I treid this spot they call it new pho., last week or so. The big budah statue was gone and so was the flavour. Let me tell you in full detail since I eat every where as sport. I pulled in out of desperity that no american cusine would solve. First thing was all the posters, tacky. Then I noticed the black gate closed , if you from lbc you know that was the origional entrance. So I figured closed, no sign, oh the front door is lit up that's where they want us to enter so I go to the street side and attempt to open, moded. They are using the original side door. Hey owner, it looks so dark, closed, uninviting. As I made it in Sat down I noticed no customers inside and said crap, then who's cars were in the lot. Empty restaurant, you know what that means. I'm here, hungry, wanna test it out, no time to get to 714, so we ordered pho and wife always gets side of egg rolls. This was some make shift pho, cheep on herbs, meet, lack of pho flavors. And to top that off, the egg rolls were burnt. They were improperly rolled and had punctures before frying do oil got in those spots and burned them. They even turned one ugly one over in attempt to hide a severe burn spot, like I would not see that. We left it rite side up for them, paid tipped table and left. I heard them speaking kmai. Kmais don't make pho. They make pnom ping. And that's at the shack. Hope you enjoyed my post ,I tell it like it is. Still ain't been back to lb Thai yet. I was craving Pho ALL DAY and found this place with Yelp! The reviews were good so I figured, why not? Called in an order To-Go and the woman I spoke with was very friendly! She even called me BACK because, while I ordered the Chicken & Shrimp Pho which comes with chicken broth, they had run out and wanted to check if beef broth was ok instead. My husband, our two year old, and I decided to try this restaurant. We had a great meal! It was savory, fresh, and hot! I had the chicken breast soup and added the extras and it was delish! The chicken was thinly sliced and juicy and tender. My husband had the flank steak soup and he enjoyed it. We got the chicken fried rice and the chicken was a little overdone but the rice part was amazing!! The service staff was very nice and accommodating (I wanted more green onions, they filled our daughter's sippy cup, my daughter made a mess and ran around and they just smiled). Whenever I'm craving pho, this is the place I go to. The broth isn't the best I've ever had, however, it's the best I've had in the area. My boyfriend and I have tried other pho places in Long Beach and a lot of them have been mediocre or dissapoiting. This is def the best pho in Long Beach (east village area). In previous experinces at other places the broth has been watery and the bean sprouts have been bitter, not here not only was the food delicious, but the service was amazing. Dispite the fact that i had a to-go order the staff at new Pho were very atentive and willing to awnser all my questions and had no problem dealing with the fact that i had no clue how to pronounce anything. they were also more than willing to awnser my questions about the size and various components of the soup. Absolutely adore this place! Had an order of the P2 on my first visit here, broth is by far the best I've had in Long Beach. After coming here I tried 3 other places around down town Long Beach and always find myself coming back to this one. I really like this place. While I'm a white girl from Michigan and may not know what authentic Pho tastes like, this stuff is tasty and the portions are perfect-- and yes, very meaty. I was especially surprised with the spring roles... sooo good! And definitely not vegetarian. The one disappointment I've found on more than one occasion is the lemons and bean sprouts are less than fresh. The lemons more frequently than the sprouts, but it's gross either way. If you're anything like me, you know how scary it is to try new places. I've only eaten Pho two times. Well, now 3. The first time is when my dad made it. My dad and his side of the family are all from Laos. So, it really can't get more authentic than that, right? The most amazing thing ever and I went YEARS without it. I was like 10 when I first tried it. I haven't had it in so long because I hardly ever see my dad. Now moving 2200 miles away makes it impossible. Anyways.. I was always afraid to get it from a restaurant. Second time was when I tried it from Pho Long Beach, didn't even compare to what my dad had made. Let's just get to New Pho. The neighborhood isn't the greatest, but that didn't really put me off. I liked the way the inside of the shop looked. Everyone was EXTREMELY friendly. It was warm inside, not too bad though. What do you expect? I made idle chit chat with two women who worked there, they told me about where they're from as I told them about my dad's side of the family. I was offered water, very nice gesture. The plastic chop sticks don't bother me at all. A lot of REAL chopsticks are plastic. Metal even. Well, maybe if you're at home they are. The wait for my food wasn't long at all. It wasn't busy. I always am very nice to people who serve others because I know how it is to be on their end. The portion size was perfect. The price was outstanding. You get your moneys worth here. And it is VERY filling. The broth wasn't sweet like Pho Long Beach. Which made it perfect. Everything was HOT. Perfect spice. Could use a bit more onions and cilantro, and the noodles were clumped together, but that didn't stop it from being down right perfect. Let's face it, it's not going to come back out all long. You're going to chew it. As long as it tastes good, that's all I care about. Will definitely be going back. I don't know how anyone could give this place a bad review. I love it. read more

I live in LA and come to Long Beach for business. I happened upon this charming little place and have made it a must whenever possible. The food is fresh, authentic, and generous. Prices are very good also. I usually have the vermicelli with pork and spring roll. I can never remember the real name of it. The owner is always very gracious with a friendly greeting.
