The layout of the restaurant is pretty much the same, even the yogurt machines are still there but boarded up. It just looked like they painted over a new coat on the walls, added some booths and switched out the tables/chairs. So New Pho Saigon shares a wall with My Royal Palace banquet hall and OMFG.. There was a quincenera going on or something and they were BLASTING the music. The bass was crazy, it felt like we were sitting right next door to a dance club! Kinda annoying because it was getting late, we were tired and the bass was vibrating the booths and walls. -_- Anyways..we ordered.. PHO TAI GAU (S) $8.75 -rare steak with fatty brisket. My fiancé ordered this and said it was bland, very basic. The meats were "so-so," meaning not the best or the crappiest. Ha. PHO HOAC HU TIEU BO KHO (S) $10 -beef stew with rice noodles. I thought this was OK. It comes automatically came with wide rice noodles, which came out still chewy and not over cooked. Decent, light beef stew broth (lots of star anise) with a few tender chunks of beef. I added a lot of lemon juice and basil! HU TIEU XAO THAP CAM BO $10 -beef chow fun with mixed veggies. Oily and the beef was on the marinated on the sweeter side. It was tender/chewy..probably used baking soda to tenderize the meat. The stir fry sauce was pretty bland. Overall this is more of a late night eats, IMO. I wouldn't make my way here during the day when there's so many other vietnamese restaurants open, but I'd come here after a late night if I have vietnamese cravings and nothing else is available.. read more

If you like their taste at location #1 diagonally across the street from the McDonald's on Landess Ave in Milpitas, then you will like the flavors and ingredients here at location #2. It turns out that the place is owned and operated by the same owner. I never knew that in previous years. Both places look and feel very different, but foods are fantastic and tasty. This old place is inside the huge Big Lots parking lot, so no issues finding free parking. $14-$15/$16 at most for main dishes. Yes, older style and much smaller. Much darker inside. Very dim to dark lighting. Old school feel. Lots of customers during some hours throughout the day. Upkeeping is not great because there's not many people working here. Takeout boxes are lesser quality type and smaller in size than expected. Frankly speaking, some menus, tables, and chairs may look or feel a bit sticky sometimes. Customers are majority Vietnamese decent. People come in groups. Orders on plates may look a bit sloppy at times, but food is certainly packed with delicious ingredients and tastes very good. Eggs are very yummy here. Not much veggie portions. I didn't see any knives at our table tonight. The pandemic and inflation times really hit them hard. 1-2 people is doing everything inside. They are super friendly though. They were having challenges getting basil inventory today, so no basil with the Pho order. Vinaigrette sauces are very good. Rice plates are delicious. Overall, I usually rate the foods and food presentations at restaurants. Service is good if needed. This place should improve the upkeeping to stay afloat. Customers would be so much happier. It would be nice to have a newer and cleaner modern look. Definitely think about upgrading or remodeling. I still enjoyed dining here. Let's see what happens in the future. read more

For me as a customer I have medications that I can't have some things on the menu. I asked the owner(guy) if the tea was Green Tea or Black Tea, he's answer was " it's green tea why is it good?" For me I can't have Green Tea, I told him " oh okay." Then he asked why. Then I said "I can't drink it because of Blood Thinner(medications)." He walked away and laugh. Needed a quick lunch while in the area and pho Saigon did not disapppont! I ordered the beef and lean brisket and boy this is the tastiest brisket I've ever had in a pho! You have a choice of fatty or lean brisket. I chose lean and there was still some bits of fat in it to give the beef some flavor. The broth was super flavorful and noodles perfectly al dente. The staff is quick to take your order and the bowls come out in a jiffy! The place is nice, bright, and modern looking. Parking is plentiful as it is part of a shopping center. Went here for lunch. They had a steady flow of guests. but the place wasn't full. I was told to seat myself as soon as I got in. They gave me the menu and followed up shortly to take my order. I ordered the bun bo nuong hanh huong, which is the grilled beef roll with onion, egg roll with vermicelli. The sauce was given on the side in a small sauce bowl. The dish itself was pretty good. There was very little dua cai chua (pickled carrot and daikon) and cucumbers. The lettuce and beansprouts are found at the bottom. I thought there was a good amount of beansprouts, but not lettuce. Overall, more vegetables would be nice. Also, the sauce was a bit bland. The meat was done very well, very flavorful! There was a lot of lemongrass on the meat, which is great. Service is a little awkward, maybe it's because they're newly opened. There was just one male and one female working. I waved down the female for a takeout container and the bill, but she kind of stood behind the counter and made no move. Maybe she signaled me over or something, but it wasn't clear. I waited several minutes and the male server walked by me. I asked him instead. He told me to that he would take care of it for me and told me to wait "over there" (the front) where the girl was standing. It was a little confusing, so I had to ask the girl, "Do I pay at the front?" to clarify. I thought they were going to pack my leftovers for me because of how he said it in a," I'll take care of the container" way. But it was actually a, "I'll take care of getting you a container, not packing it," hahaha. Turns out, you pay at the front, then pack up your food after you pay. Again, quite awkward and confusing. Yesterday I ordered the number 86, and was enjoying the delicious flavors, I went to scoop another amount into my mouth, and felt something funny, I stopped and pulled it out and low and behold a wod of hair was what I was eating! My stomach turned with disgust. I called the waiter over and showed him, he apologized and said he would bring a new plate, he took the bowl to the owner, which was sitting at the end, he grabbed the plate and went to the back. Never even bothered to come to our table to apologize , I decided I didn't want a replacement! To bad because I will not be going back. I immediately ordered a bowl of small beef pho with meatballs and beef. Within 5 minutes they brought me my bowl of pho and veggies. I looked at the veggies and thought, did you guys run out of basil? Lol The plate of bean sprouts and basil was so small not too mention the basil leave looked like it was not full grown. I was disappointed but proceeded to eat my pho anyways. Pho wasn't the best I have had. The broth was mediocre. I finished it in 10 minutes to leave on time. Will I come back? Probably not. Their pho broth is like anywhere else so it wasn't anything special that makes me want to come back. They really need to improve on their veggies though. Was craving Vietnamese food and so much to choose from in Milpitas. I ordered from Pho Saigon 2 via Yelp/GrubHub. Super easy. The food was ready for pick up able 15 minutes early. I like how the girl checked my Yelp order confirmation before handing to bag to me. Most other places you just pick up without confirming your name or order. It has almost the right flavor. I ordered vermicelli with grill pork and rice with pork chop. The egg roll that came with it has a spice that turns it yellow. Wish the skin was just a bit more crispy and light. The grills pork flavor was also just a tad different than what I'm used to. Overall above average flavor and portion is just right. As for packaging, I like the veggies on the side. This review is for takeout during Covid! I've been to this place once before the lockdown and it was fine, nothing out of this world but far from bad. I was craving Viet food, especially noodles, so I came here since it's close to home. We ordered around 3:30pm and got the food within 20 minutes. We ordered #1 special pho, garlic noodles with grilled chicken, and the grilled pork/egg roll vermicelli bowl. First thing I noticed picking this order up... SUPER HEAVY which is always a good sign. Got home and let me tell you, portions were freaking HUGE. Not sure if this was just a fluke or a Covid thing but I seriously think 4 people could've eaten these 3 dishes and been full. I really appreciate how they take the time to package things separately. Pho broth was hot and in its own container separate from the noodles and veggie toppings, and the veggies were separated from the vermicelli bowl as well. The raw steak came packaged in plastic wrap separately. All we did when we got home was transfer the broth to a saucepan to heat it up a little more and poured it over the noodles and meat. Tasted just like dine-in. I had to transfer the vermicelli bowl to a huge salad bowl because there was just so much. Pho broth was also better than I remember it being although a bit bland, but with some sriracha and hoisin it was great. Garlic noodles were really tasty especially with the slightly sweet chicken. This is their second location already run by the same owner as New Pho Saigon 1. Their menu is basically identical and so is the quality of food and service. I love their Pho which always comes out quick, hot and fresh. Their other dishes, especially the rice plates are yummy as well. The restaurant doesn't get too busy yet so get in their people. It's large, big windows and always clean. Service is friendly and even making some small talk. Overall a really pleasant, authentic Vietnamese restaurant that got it all right. Came here for an early around 530PM on a Tuesday and literally there was no one there. I love it when it's not super crowded although I'm sure this place does get packed during prime hour. The menu is quite large and you can choose from anything from rice to noodle dishes. I've seen pictures of the food on yelp and everything looks delicious. The day I went was pretty cold so I got the pho ga with rice noodles and white meat. They have good variety because you could get it with dark meat, yellow noodle, or udon. It was quite tasty. The food comes out pretty quick and the servers were very attentive. They were just sitting off to the side and waiting for us to finish. We got overcooked white meat. The menu says "fresh lemonade ". After asking for it twice, we watched the server get off his cell phone and shake up a bottle of concentrate ( reach in refrigerator, bottom shelf) and add it to a couple of glasses. Yay... Heard about this place through Yelp was waiting for the right time since their grand opening two months ago. Came by this morning even though it was still raining and cold. First off the interior very bland which has two flatscreen TV one in the back and one over the counter everything else seems ordinary space and roominess not much else to be said could use some motifs to live it up. The young lady at the front desk was very cheerful and polite had me seated right away with only a few customers. The menu selection was very simple and easy to navigate so I chose #57 ($9.00) shrimp & mixed vegetable over rice and #18 ($8.75) large bowl of shrimp rice noodle soup along with lemonade sodas at $3.50. Both meals had generous portions of shrimps and noodle and the broth had flavor and taste. The shrimps and the rice wasn't bland or tasted like it was leftover from last week. The lemonade soda had a settle taste not sweet or bitter. Will be back won't have any problems finding a parking space there's plenty of them to go around. read more

During pickup I got confirmation that only chicken in the fried rice and no other meat. Once I opened the food container, I could see pork and shrimps. Really disappointed. I really wanted to like this place because of its convenient location. My go-to pho spot in Milpitas is the original Pho Saigon so I was hoping and wishing this would take it spot. Boy, was I completely wrong. Went here on a Sunday night with my boyfriend and there was a decent amount of people but a ton of dirty tables everywhere; which was the reason we waited 5 minutes when in reality there were a ton of tables and decent number of employees to help clean up. Their tables are set up like cafeteria so we were stuck in a middle of parties. My boyfriend ordered the Pho which he said was not really warm and the noodles were not cooked well. The only saving grace for him was that they provided a lot of meat, but their broth was also subpar. I ordered the yellow noodle soup and that was my biggest mistake. It literally tasted like yellow noodles from a top ramen packet. I hate to be a Negative Nancy and I'm usually pretty lenient, but this just did not do it for me. The food came out REALLY quick. It was not busy so I figured it was okay. I ordered the spring rolls, which were pretty decent but for my pho I ordered it was barely hot. Pho is typically scorching hot soup. The noodles were hard to separate because of the soup temperature being colder than normal. I had also ordered a thai iced tea that came when my meal was finished. I know it happens that thai iced tea is mostly ice which is unfortunate because it is delicious...but to add insult to injury it was the last thing I got. There were 5 tables (7 adults 3 kids) during the entire visit. I sat for 20 minutes with my bowl, utensils and trash pushed to the side.
