I usually don't leave negative reviews especially for ice cream spots, but yesterday we stopped to get ice cream here after the beach. My order was fine, I got a cookie monster milkshake and it was actually pretty good and so was my bf's coffee ice cream. One of our other friends got a cone that had a long hair in it, it was very much embedded in their cone. Then after we sent it back through the window they did replace the cone, but I was told by my friend and bf that they saw them put the scoop back into the ice cream to be served to others... This place was such a surprise! We went for breakfast and I was blown away by those breakfast potatoes (I don't usually like breakfast potatoes). These were crunchy and delicious. Took my young granddaughter for a birthday! Was a horrible experience. I'm diabetic asked for the marshmallow sauce on the side of my butternut squash, waitress rudely refused. Insisted that her mother was diabetic and she put it into the soup anyway. Soup came cold. After a very long wait. Waitress was sweating profusely into all the food. It was disgusting! Basic local ice cream parlour. They have breakfast in the morning only. Lunch, dinner and ice cream. Try the cheeseburger on toast, the Newport creamery way. Their soups are ok, but the specialize in sundaes and coffee cabinets. I came here and had a banana split. The others in my party had sundaes. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Came here for an original Chocolate Awful Awful and they are just that... AWFUL. Absolutely NO flavor whatsoever and the ice cream was very icy, you could actually chew the chunks of ice that came up through the straw! It was so gross I couldn't even drink 1/4 of it. My west coast aunts bought a house in Rhode Island in November. They just spent their first week here & they ate at Newport Creamery almost every day. They are working their way through the entire menu & there is nothing they haven't loved. Coffee Awful Awfuls are their latest favorite, but they also rave about the Cobb salad ("The blue cheese dressing had actual chunks of blue cheese!" they marveled, showing me with their fingers just how chunky the blue cheese dressing chunks were). On the last night of their visit, we went out together. I got the burger on rye bread, which was incredible. They split fish & chips (also perfection). And then we learned that Newport Creamery has a *separate* dessert menu. Katie bar the door... we each got a separate small dessert sundae. The classic hot fudge was on point. The caramel sauce was as good as my aunt's homemade version. But the star was the peanut butter sauce. It was like barely thinned actual peanut butter. So so so good. Next time, I'm getting that over chocolate ice cream. They'll be back in a few months. I can't wait to hear what they love next at Newport Creamery! read more

The interior is not fancy by any means, but if you've got a craving for a good milkshake, this is the place to get it. For my to-go order, I ordered the Waffled Spinach Pie Grilled Cheese (sauteed spinach, grilled onions, roasted red peppers, feta and American cheeses), which is supposed to be like their regular Spinach Pie Grilled Cheese, but with a garlic spread and pressed with a waffle iron. I think what I ended up receiving was the regular grilled cheese, which was disappointing as I'd heard great things about the waffled version. But it was definitely still tasty and the seasoned fries that we got with it were great. We also got the Oreo Awful Awful and that was delicious! I grew up with the creamery and pleased to be able to share it with my grandkids . It's a family place for a quick meal and great ice cream. There known for there awful awful 's. This are shakes I grew up on. It was a special day out to stop and get one. Vanilla is a favorite of mine, it's worth the calories!! The red and white cups that they come in are a original from childhood. I love that they haven't changed much . The ice cream still comes in the green and white striped containers. Where can I start, the worker basically screamed at me and my friends inside the restaurant, humiliated us, and caused a scene. All because we wanted a kids meal, mind you we are 12 and the worker refused to believe us, even after we offered to show him proof of our age. Inexcusably bad. I keep giving this place chances because sometimes me and my friends wanna meet up somewhere. I'm finally fed up today. Often the food taste like oil rather than what it's supposed to taste like. Just recently I asked for a chicken quesadilla, and had received a plain cheese quesadilla. I waited a long time for our waitress to come back. She didn't check on us once after we got our incorrect food items. I had to call her over for her to check on us, and asked for my correct order. When I got it back, it was still a plain cheese quesadilla, and she knew it because I saw her check it and she ran away so fast after giving it to me. And so I had to ask another person there to give me my correct order, since she ended up disappearing after she gave me my order for the second time, and what I ended up getting was the SAME quesadilla, but with chicken poorly thrown into it. By the time I got my "correct order", I didn't even want it. It tasted horrible. Even my ice cream sundae tasted bad! It tasted like someone had eaten it, then spit it back out. I used to really like this place, but every time I went back, the service and the food just got worse and worse. If you want any good ice cream, I would even suggest McDonald's dollar ice cream!! As for the mac and cheese? Just go to the store and get yourself Kraft's. Just as good - even better!! Since the mac and cheese I got was dried up on the top, and you can tell it's been out for a while. They even charged us the same for everything. Add this place to the list that I will never eat at again. When I arrived 15 minutes after ordering (as instructed) I had to wait at least 10 more minutes. As they two young guys were packing my order I noticed that the chicken sandwich was fried and not grilled. I asked the kid if it was fried and he said "i think so" to which i asked how long it would be to make a new one. They told me it would be 10 more minutes......which i didn't have due to baseball practice for the kid. I told him to just take it off the bill. A few minutes later I ask what i'm still waiting for and am told that a manager has to void the item. The manager shows up and starts printing receipts and throwing them away. He finally tells me the new total, takes my credit card and never apologizes. When I get home I notice that the kids working threw everything in one bag with certain items on the side, some are upside down.....you get the drift. Then when my wife opens her salad that was ordered without bacon she sees that the bacon has essentially been tossed throughout the salad because of the salad being placed in the bag on its side. This place has always just been okay, but this service is inexcusable. I wouldn't stop here again if it was the last place open. read more

However it was completly the opposite. The waitress was not intelligent at all, she brought out my friends salads that were not edible at all, the lettuce was brown and witly.
