Had a fantastic experience with Next. Our move was admittedly pretty easy: exclusively just furniture and from one one-story home to another in the same local area. The team was prompt (arrived within 5 minutes of scheduled time) and stuck to the schedule (we finished within 10 minutes of targeted timeframe). The 3-man crew was VERY good about wrapping everything in blankets and shrink wrap to protect each item. We had antique pieces and each one was wrapped 360 degrees (vertical and horizontal) and went from Point A to Point B with zero dents/scuffs/etc. We also had to move three appliances (a fridge and washer/dryer) and they disconnected and moved to them to our new home without a scratch. I admittedly mis-measured two spaces that prohibited the appliances from going where we initially planned, but the foreman helped problem solve on where to put these items in the meantime so they were out of the way but could still be used. It ended up being for the better so we really lucked out and kept them in the new spots. As with any service, please read the fine print! There were some moving companies that seemed to be cheaper, but in reading the fine print there were hidden fees or stipulations making Next a better value choice (note: lower rates do not always mean better value). I needed to move everything out within a few days and they were able to get me an appointment on the day I needed to be out. The appointment was for a pick up time between 3-5pm but they got delayed with the previous move and were not able to get to me until 8pm, but they still came to do my move even though it was past their normal hours, which I REALLY appreciate because I needed to have everything out that day. The three guys who helped us move were great! They worked hard and fast but were very gentle with my stuff. Great rates, and they were extremely kind. Moving from Huntington Beach to San Clemente, the Next Moving Company was great. I had sent out requests for multiple companies and Next was the best option with their replies via email, and outstanding phone support. I set up information on line and was then called multiple times to review the process, pricing and expectations that I had for them. We had just installed new carpet and requested the team of 3 workers were booties on the 2nd floor for delivery. I was informed prior of the arrival time of the crew - which was also verified the day v=before and the day of the move. The team wrapped all of my furniture - taking great care to ensure there was no damage and no stains (cloth wrap on move hard wood furniture and plastic wrap on all other items - with cardboard buffers on edges). The team then took great care in unloading and moved items a couple times to support my wife finding the best spot for the furniture. We also got a discount for paying in cash with allowed me to take my wife out for dinner afterwards. I took their recommendation for three movers when I only thought I needed two, and they were completely right; it probably saved us an hour and I was glad I took that advice. They requested a facetime view of my apartment so they could accurately assess what my needs were, which was convenient and helpful, and I appreciated the care they put into wrapping my furniture for the move. I would caution LA residents to thoroughly discuss parking with them -- the truck was larger than I expected and there was nowhere for it to go in the cramped Hollywood side-street I was leaving. Next moved our belongings from our house, which was near the end of escrow, to a storage unit. There was an opportunity to close escrow early that was identified on 12/29. I found Next on Yelp and corresponded with Ian over the New Year's weekend. The move details were finalized on 1/2. The Next four-man team did an awesome job. They arrived on time, helped us finish some packing and had everything loaded in just under four hours. The items were unloaded into the storage unit in a little over an hour. There were no damages to any of the belongings or the house. We had recently installed a high-end laminate flooring and were concerned about damages to the flooring. However, the Next guys took extra care by using pads and cardboard as needed to ensure there were no damages to the flooring. They were very respectful to us and of our belongings. I had received estimates from three other movers, and Next had the lowest hourly rate. As noted above, they worked very fast. So between the lower hourly rate plus the speed of the work, the total cost of the move was very reasonable. Their customer service was also excellent. I received a call from their office during the move to see how things were going. Ian followed up after the move to see how things had gone. I learned a couple of things with the move. First, make sure the company you are planning to hire is licensed and insured, which Next is. However, it turned out that one of the highly rated movers on Yelp had had their license suspended, and they wouldn't share any details of their insurance unless I booked the move. Also, if the move is to be billed by the hour, compare the cost of a two- or three-main team against the cost of a four-man team. In my case, the cost of a four-man team was less than twice the cost of a two-man team, so it was more cost-effective to use a four-man team, and, of course, it took less of my time to do the move. read more

The team was the fastest to get back to me after requesting a quote. Despite technically being closed on the day I requested it, one of their associates got back to me immediately and within half an hour we were on Zoom looking at my apartment so she could give me an estimate. On the day of the move, the men arrived within the window of time I was told. They quickly loaded my items, plus a couple of more that I hadn't initially planned to have them move. The guys were polite and professional. Furniture was wrapped and moved carefully, too. I could only afford them for the 3-hour minimum, so I prioritized what items they moved. The only minor gripe I have is that when you request an estimate, they'll tell you the price and let you know that the cost is good for only a limited amount of time. As I've mentioned to them, I'd like to see them specify what this time period is (24 hours? 48 hours?) so both they and the customer aren't surprised if the estimate expires due to being on different pages when it comes to what constitutes a "short" window of time. In my case, they were still great about honoring the original quote they gave me, though. At the time of my move, the deposit was $99, which was deducted from the final cost. I didn't get any unexpected upcharges or fees once the move was done, either. Definitely recommend them. read more

I'm updating my review for a few reasons. Before I go into that, I heard the same explanation Ian posted here from the owner who reached out to me several times by phone. To me it sounds like them justifying the experience I had with them as their attempt to provide a "quality" experience. I wish Ian would have told me on our zoom call that they could not offer the service I was looking for. Cause that's really what they are saying. Instead they provided their standard service and it was not what I said I wanted or needed. We could have avoided all this if he would have told me, "We can't do that" instead of going ahead and doing it anyway even though I explained what I was looking for. With that being said, I do have to give credit where credits is due and the owner DID try to reach out to me SEVERAL times over the last two weeks. He offered to refund me some of my money and even though I didn't respond, he sent me the refund anyway. At first I thought he was offering that with some string attached but he wasn't. When I did not respond, he sent me a refund directly to my account. I was impressed by that. The moral of the story... if you have a big job and you want them to pay attention to every detail and wrap everything for you, they probably would do a good job. If you have a simple, smaller job where everything is ready to move and you don't want them wasting time wrapping everything, I'd still go with another company. read more

My husband and I recently moved from a 1 bed/1bath apartment on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex into a one story home about 13 miles away. We had a team of 3 guys who were all professional, friendly and careful. Since the beginning of this process, there was transparency. They let us know how many stairs were included in the cost as we were on the 3rd floor. There would be an additional charge if it exceeded that; luckily we didn't. We were aware of the distance charge for moving more than 10 miles. There were no surprises once the final bill came, other than it took longer than expected. But that's what happens in a move sometimes. On the day off, they called and informed us that they would be about 30 min later than anticipated. Once they arrived, they surveyed the furniture, came up with a game plan, and then we signed our contract. They provided us with wardrobe boxes so that our closet could be moved with ease, and it really was. The disassembled our bed with no issue. They really pay attention to details and make sure the furniture is packaged safely. I can say that nothing was damaged and they made sure to put the large furniture in the right place at the new place. As much as I hope we will never move again, if we do, we would definitely use Next again. Have nothing but very positive things to say about our experience.
