Decent food, fair price, but slow service. Restraunt is older and has a small Texas hick town feel to it. Lee Vining is a weird town anyway.

We always come when Camping for Breakfast. Its a 70's style Diner. I like their Pancakes and they give you whipped butter and plenty of it makes them all the better. Biscuits and Gravy is good too ! Worst restaurant experience I ever had. Took 15 minutes for them to greet us and another 7 to bring us our water. We asked for lunch menus and she never brought them. They had about 3 other tables and after an hour and 7 mins of us being there we got our food. No one was nice at Nicelys. No one even smiled. There were about 836244 flies and one even landed in my sisters drink. I have never been so upset about a restaurant visit. I would have more sympathy is they were busy but they were just rude and could not manage their time. Will not return and told others walking in not to go. The people here are stupid. We asked for our check 3 times and still did not receive it. These people are uneducated, rude and it was a mistake eating here. read more

When a restaurant puts "Home-made" in front of an item like sausage or pie doesn't always mean that its good. Stayed in town for a week and ate here a couple of times seeing as it is one of 3 places to eat in town(all owned by the same family...talk about a MONOPOLY on a town!). The fried chicken was juicy and tender but was rather bland along with the rubbery veggies that accompanied it...didn't change my life in any way. This is a pretty solid diner. The food isn't exceptional and won't surprise you, but it is hearty and tasty. I would have given this three stars, but their desserts nudged them into another star. The sundaes are huge and full of syrupy goodness, and the pies are delicious. It may have also been because it was after a day of travel and hiking and I was hungry, but pie is pie, and you can't go wrong with the selection of fruit pies they have on hand. read more

This place was exactly what I was looking for after an afternoon of exploring the area. I was tempted by the BBQ place next door, but based on the sign and style of this place, I knew I'd find chicken-fried steak and a salad with ranch dressing. My traveling companion had the pasta with homemade meat sauce which was quite good, and we both had the deep-dish homemade peach pie. The pie was not a slice of pie, but was a dish with the peach filling inside, and a crust baked on the top (almost like french onion soup). It was delicious, and comes with ice cream (soft-serve) on top. If you prefer something a little less fancy than the Whoa-Nellie Deli, I recommend Nicelys. read more

Solid place to fill your belly. I like to get a good meal here the night before I get ready for trip up in the Northern Yosemite.

I've been here twice, both for breakfast. Both times the food was good and reasonably priced. The service can be hit or miss. When it's crowded (weekends) it can seem like they are understaffed and the servers are not always really friendly. On the weekday I was there, the service was fine. This is the second time I've been here and just had to write a review. This place is awesome. This is a quintessential 50's diner and it's takes you back in time eating here, back to the friendlier and simpler days. The food was great and so was the service. I got the corn beef hash and it was phenomenal along with the eggs and hash browns. The only thing that was alright was the sausage but still a great restaurant and I highly recommend it when driving up and down 395 or heading to Yosemite. read more

I wish I could give this place a ZERO star. My son was a little bit cranky when we got there after 3 hours driving. The old lady who served us had a really bad attitude at first place when she saw little kid, she asked us not to put the hair chair where was the only place we could find. My mom-in-law had to stand up and hold my son to calm him down, guests who sat next to us also tried to make him laugh. That old lady showed up in 5 minutes after the food was served, and asked "Do you need anything else, if not, I will go ahead grab the bill for you". She even forgot to give us one of the dishes we ordered. And my mom-in-law has not started eating at all! When she handed over the bill and told us service fee has been added already, I told her I was not happy with her service. When I went to the counter to pay the bill, the owner did not ask us why I refused to pay the tip, seems like she did not care at all. Plus, the food there is so bland. it's definitely a shame of them from a tourist point of view! read more

The place reeked of burnt, used oil which caused a mild irritation in the eyes. One of the waiters looked as though he had not taken a bath in months and had ridiculously long hair and beard making me think how much hair is actually falling in the food he's serving. Finally, no points for food either. We ordered a tostada salad and a veggie melt. The tostada was dripping with oil and the patty in the veggie melt was terrible. Good food and wait staff. Can be a mad house during the busy tourist months, but in the fall staff are much more relaxed. Chili was mild and no beans which disappoints some, but tastes home made. Their breakfast is so very amazing! I always make sure to stop here once a year and grab the chicken fried steak before my family heads down to Bodie. Man, maybe it's just me but I LOVE that steak. The eggs, hashbrowns and other sides weren't bad neither. The restaurant itself is very retro-like and has some very interesting photos and items in the wall to keep me entertained. I've never had an issue with the service. One waiter (tall, Hispanic, mustache) has some trouble speaking English but it's all good. The bathroom is a bit disgusting and the first booth to the right has a pole sitting right in front of the seat but other than that I always come out satisfied. read more
