Ate, had a fair chicken fiesta bowl but family disliked fried chicken special and chicken nuggets. They were done but gravy meat was very weird on mashed potatoes? Desert was ice cream that had horrible taste to it from machine? Apple deep dish was weird flavor I'm burping up that sucks and I had just two bites. I don't know why I forget my perspective of this place every time I return to the region, but this place is like an old Denny's that time forgot. We stopped in here for lunch on our road trip. We were greeted and seated immediately. All of the employees we encountered were friendly. We all had the special which was fish and chips accompanied by a large amount of fries and coleslaw. There were 3 pieces of fish and they were pretty tasty. I thought the coleslaw was pretty good and I do not really care for coleslaw. The fries were okay, nothing special. Took a chance on this place even though the reviews were mediocre. Going in with low expectations, I guess I wasn't too disappointed. Service was fast. Salad wasn't the freshest but was ok. Chicken tenders also ok but over fried. Tomato soup salty as all get-out borderline inedible. Service was unbelievably rude. I guess they didn't care because the 15% tip was forced on your bill. Not so great. My son had the turkey sandwich and potato soup. The sandwich was on white bread with mayo and that's it, the soup was like a vegetable stew not cream of potato. My daughter had spaghetti, how can you go wrong with that? They found a way! It had bell peppers in the sauce. Who puts bell peppers in spaghetti sauce? Hubby and I had steak sandwiches with fries. The bread was a slice of poorly toasted sourdough and the steak was bad quality. My kids ended up filling up with the candy bars they sold in their case, the best part of the restaurant. Just walked in this restaurant about 30 minutes ago and had to deal with a pretty rude old waitress. We asked if we could order take out because we were on our way to Yosemite. The place offers take out so the eye rolls we received from her were extremely unnecessary. I guess she was mad because she wasn't going to get a rip. If we had stayed she wouldn't have gotten a tip anyway. I Ended up just telling my boyfriend that we weren't going to give our money to an establishment that allows such rude people to be working around the public. Lost a customer! read more

Bearing in mind it's remote location, we found the food and service at Nicely's very good. We had the chilli dog with a salad on the side. The chilli dog was very nice and plentiful. The diner was very clean and the waitress was extremely friendly and was keen to learn about our trip through California. Well worth a pit stop if travelling through Lee Vining. We were in the region to visit Mono Lake, where the cover for Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" album was photographed. Whatever you do, don't miss it!! read more

Horrible customer service, went there for breakfast as my base camp for Yosemite was in Lee Vining. After a 45 minute wait I had to send my food back because of a mistake, the waiters solution was for me to pick through and fix it myself, when I refused he grabbed the plate and ruffled through my omelet picking it apart. When I asked to see a manager he offered to fix it promptly, and again upon getting it back the eggs were not cooked, leaving a puddle of uncooked eggs on my plate. When I took it back to him and said it was prompt yet not cooked his response was "I don't know what you want from me". Will never return. read more

This restaurant really wasn't bad, but it wasn't too great either, but it had a surprising amount of options for vegetarians. We ordered a Caesar salad, Jamie's veggie sandwich, ravioli with vegetables, and a basket of fries. Their's really not much to say about the food. The ravioli tasted like the normal frozen ravioli and they over sauced just a bit. I ended up just eating fries, because my sandwich was so soggy. We decided to eat here after a long day of driving. . Unfortunately I left disappointed our dinner .. I ordered the Sante Fe salad -- the chicken was dry, the shell was greasy I took a few bites from my daughter's dinner, the spaghetti was way overcooked and very little sauce on top, the French fries were not fresh.. I've been to Lee Vining 2 or 3 times, and I've always had great experiences at Nicely's, I've been there for both Breakfast and Dinner. The dinners were always amazing, because after a day of hiking and exploring there is no better comfort than a juicy burger or steak. read more

The incorrectly named Nicely's is staffed with employees who don't seem to care about their job or their customers or their tips. First, we sat down 30 minutes before they closed...we figured it was plenty of time. They seated us in a booth where we waited nearly 15 minutes to give our order. We both ordered steaks and a salad which arrived in an appropriate amount of time. But I couldn't help but notice that the couple who walked in and were seated at the same time we gave our order received their salads at the SAME time we did! We then had to wait forever to get our check and ask the busser two times for it. Finally, our server brought it. When standing at the register to pay, the cashier started to give us a hard time about taking so long and keeping them late. I thought she was just teasing and having fun until my friend asked to buy a postcard and she refused because it was so late! She then reminded us how late we'd already kept them and I had to inform her how long we sat before someone came to take our order then how much longer we sat waiting on our check. She made a couple more rude remarks and I'd had enough and walked out - see you never! The next morning the lady at the gas station advised that this was par for the course for that place. She recommended the Epic Cafe. For the record, the salad was bland and the dressing was watered down. Both steaks were tough as nails and barely palatable. read more

My husband and I went here just passing through. First of all, when my husband and I walked in, the waitress just pointed to a table for us to sit at...very weird. It then took a while for us to get water and to order. I ordered a turkey sandwich and potato soup. It was pretty good...my husband enjoyed his burger and fries. When it was time for us to pay our bill the waitress then pointed at the register to go pay and there wasn't anyone there. It was kind of strange and a little humorous. This place was just ok for me. Worst restaurant experience I ever had. Took 15 minutes for them to greet us and another 7 to bring us our water. We asked for lunch menus and she never brought them. They had about 3 other tables and after an hour and 7 mins of us being there we got our food. No one was nice at Nicelys. No one even smiled. There were about 836244 flies and one even landed in my sisters drink. I have never been so upset about a restaurant visit. I would have more sympathy is they were busy but they were just rude and could not manage their time. Will not return and told others walking in not to go. The people here are stupid. not only were they open for dinner AND breakfast, but we got to sit in exactly the same space for both meals! whoever the man was that sat us for dinner on 5/14/11 was the most genuinely nice person on the planet. you could tell by his face how kind he is. rad. let's see, for dinner i had the taco salad with a veggie burger crumbled on top. it was healthy and satisfying. my bf had a baked potato, chili, a side of mac and cheese (i helped him with that!), and an entree of chicken pasta. (yes he eats a lot.) for dessert i had a sundae and he had the bread pudding, which was so delish. since we enjoyed it so much we went back for bfast before we headed back to SF. we split the veggie omlette and stack of apples pancakes. it was only ok; dinner was way better. but regardless i loved it and love Nicely's! read more

Fried chicken is the specialty. At $10.65 an excellent value. Flavorful beef barley soup and veggies. Finished half the chicken and ate the other half the next day at the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.
