We always make it a point to have at least one meal here when in the Mono/Mammoth area. Either as burger lunch or a breakfast.

I've never been there but from the internet, it looks like a good place to eat. Next time I go up the backside of the Sierras on 395 and onto Yosemite, I'm going to stop in for sure. read more

We stopped in here for lunch on our road trip. We were greeted and seated immediately. All of the employees we encountered were friendly. We all had the special which was fish and chips accompanied by a large amount of fries and coleslaw. There were 3 pieces of fish and they were pretty tasty. I thought the coleslaw was pretty good and I do not really care for coleslaw. The fries were okay, nothing special. Took a chance on this place even though the reviews were mediocre. Going in with low expectations, I guess I wasn't too disappointed. Service was fast. Salad wasn't the freshest but was ok. Chicken tenders also ok but over fried. Tomato soup salty as all get-out borderline inedible. Service was unbelievably rude. I guess they didn't care because the 15% tip was forced on your bill. This place had a lot of good reviews, but I can't see why. The food was mediocre at best. The French fries are frozen and the French dip sandwich that I had was full of fat. The decor is very dated and unkept and the bathrooms were very dirty. I would not recommend if you have other options. read more

Not so great. My son had the turkey sandwich and potato soup. The sandwich was on white bread with mayo and that's it, the soup was like a vegetable stew not cream of potato. My daughter had spaghetti, how can you go wrong with that? They found a way! It had bell peppers in the sauce. Who puts bell peppers in spaghetti sauce? Hubby and I had steak sandwiches with fries. The bread was a slice of poorly toasted sourdough and the steak was bad quality. My kids ended up filling up with the candy bars they sold in their case, the best part of the restaurant. Just walked in this restaurant about 30 minutes ago and had to deal with a pretty rude old waitress. We asked if we could order take out because we were on our way to Yosemite. The place offers take out so the eye rolls we received from her were extremely unnecessary. I guess she was mad because she wasn't going to get a rip. If we had stayed she wouldn't have gotten a tip anyway. I Ended up just telling my boyfriend that we weren't going to give our money to an establishment that allows such rude people to be working around the public. Lost a customer! read more

A truly distinguished dining experience... distinguished for the worst fries in all of N. America. Perhaps they made them especially mooshy and disgusting because I asked for them extra crispy? But really, just because I paid $9 for someone to prepare something for me, it doesn't mean I should get what I ask for. I mean, when I order a burger medium rare, I obviously deserve to have the insides still frozen. Yes, Tioga mobile will set you back $30 and it's nowhere near as good as it used to be. Bearing in mind it's remote location, we found the food and service at Nicely's very good. We had the chilli dog with a salad on the side. The chilli dog was very nice and plentiful. The diner was very clean and the waitress was extremely friendly and was keen to learn about our trip through California. Well worth a pit stop if travelling through Lee Vining. We were in the region to visit Mono Lake, where the cover for Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" album was photographed. Whatever you do, don't miss it!! read more

I understand that a waitress wants to go home at the end of the day but it is no reason to be outright rude. We came in an hour before closing time. There were just two other tables finishing their meals. She demanded we sit next to the drafty door (shortest way for her from the kitchen) and was clearly in no mood to serve us. At the end, she just added the tip to the bill and told us this is how they do it. There were four people in our party. I didn't care to discuss it because of her confrontational style. I am giving four star for the service. Lee vining is a small town on 395 between 120 and 108. I always enjoy coming down here. People who lives here are friendly and nice. Food is just ok. I would give 3 star. The price is fair as well as portion size. read more

We were driving Hwy 395 and stopped for lunch at Nicely's. We are glad we did. Service was good and so was the food. Home made pies!

Horrible customer service, went there for breakfast as my base camp for Yosemite was in Lee Vining. After a 45 minute wait I had to send my food back because of a mistake, the waiters solution was for me to pick through and fix it myself, when I refused he grabbed the plate and ruffled through my omelet picking it apart. When I asked to see a manager he offered to fix it promptly, and again upon getting it back the eggs were not cooked, leaving a puddle of uncooked eggs on my plate. When I took it back to him and said it was prompt yet not cooked his response was "I don't know what you want from me". Will never return. read more

This restaurant really wasn't bad, but it wasn't too great either, but it had a surprising amount of options for vegetarians. We ordered a Caesar salad, Jamie's veggie sandwich, ravioli with vegetables, and a basket of fries. Their's really not much to say about the food. The ravioli tasted like the normal frozen ravioli and they over sauced just a bit. I ended up just eating fries, because my sandwich was so soggy. It wasn't that it looked unappetizing, it was just that I wasn't too hungry for it. Meh. Basically the word that describes this restaurant best. read more

We were up touring Yosemite National Park during off season and were so hungry at the end of our tour. The only restaurant open in Yosemite was at least an hour wait and we decided to just leave the park and head out. Before hitting the highway we decided to see what was open in the area and this was the only restaurant opened. This is not your fancy diner. It's pretty outdated and sad looking. The waitress however was really friendly and attentive. I ordered a taco salad. I felt that the chicken was from a pre- cooked package because it had no flavor. The dressing used for the taco salad seemed like it came out of a jar of Pace's picante salsa and my sour cream was cold and hard. In fairness, the presentation was nice. My boyfriend had the burger and it was actually pretty decent. The fries were perfectly fried. read more

I love Nicely's. It's a roadside diner from the days when the highways were two lanes and went through small towns be instead of around and over them. The waitresses call you "hon" (short for honey). They know all the locals by name. The food is appealing, wholesome, generous and reasonably priced. It's unpretentious but nice. A previous review mentioned leaving big city attitude behind. I second that. I live in the bay area and often find that the main feature at expensive restaurants is the price. Just adding "grilled to perfection" to the description and supplying a linen napkin doesn't make a $10 hamburger worth $30. Go to Nicely's and enjoy an honest meal with honest people. read more

Nicely's was good for Breakfast! Had an omelet with hash browns. Everything was fresh and tasty.

Huge menu selections to cater to any taste. Stopped in for lunch and got the "Nicely's Special" (or something called like that) -- sliced roast beef, cheese, and tomatoes on toasted sourdough bread. Pretty tasty. Service was good and waiter friendly. read more

I've been to Lee Vining 2 or 3 times, and I've always had great experiences at Nicely's, I've been there for both Breakfast and Dinner. The dinners were always amazing, because after a day of hiking and exploring there is no better comfort than a juicy burger or steak. read more

My husband and I went here just passing through. First of all, when my husband and I walked in, the waitress just pointed to a table for us to sit at...very weird. It then took a while for us to get water and to order. I ordered a turkey sandwich and potato soup. It was pretty good...my husband enjoyed his burger and fries. When it was time for us to pay our bill the waitress then pointed at the register to go pay and there wasn't anyone there. It was kind of strange and a little humorous. This place was just ok for me. not only were they open for dinner AND breakfast, but we got to sit in exactly the same space for both meals! whoever the man was that sat us for dinner on 5/14/11 was the most genuinely nice person on the planet. you could tell by his face how kind he is. rad. let's see, for dinner i had the taco salad with a veggie burger crumbled on top. it was healthy and satisfying. my bf had a baked potato, chili, a side of mac and cheese (i helped him with that!), and an entree of chicken pasta. (yes he eats a lot.) for dessert i had a sundae and he had the bread pudding, which was so delish. since we enjoyed it so much we went back for bfast before we headed back to SF. we split the veggie omlette and stack of apples pancakes. it was only ok; dinner was way better. but regardless i loved it and love Nicely's! read more

Fried chicken is the specialty. At $10.65 an excellent value. Flavorful beef barley soup and veggies. Finished half the chicken and ate the other half the next day at the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. This was the best meal and value on a 10 day road trip through scenic California mountains, forests, lakes, etc. read more

Nicely's has a decent sized menu. Most ppl in our party went for some form of a grilled sandwich. I went for a version with turkey and chilies. The turkey was moist and the sourdough was nice and crispy. I found that added a bit of salt added was a perfect boost of flavors. The fries were average a best - clearly of the frozen variety. Had the bicuits and gravy - did not suit my palate. My wife had pancakes that weren't bad. Lots of flies in the restaurant, and the service was alright. I probably won't be stopping in again. read more
