Omelets are great, though for foodies-some things such as the biscuits and gravy-won't leave you incredibly impressed. The sausage gravy is extremely flour-y but also very edible. A friend and I decided to try a diner for a change of pace breakfast and decided to come here. Parking was a little tight and took a few tries, but it wasn't that big of an issue. We both liked the direct way that you ordered: you sat down, were given a menu and then made a selection. Your order was put on the lineup and in about 15 minutes, the food arrived. We sat on the counter/bar and actually watched our food being made. I suspect in less busy times the food would be out sooner, but we arrived and it was almost completely full when we got there. So, this is your typical dive-diner...true breakfast food and it's very basic. Even the coffee is basic, so don't expect Starbucks or DD's. Everything is cooked greasy, and it's very tasty though I've moved on from this type of meal (unless of course I'm trying to cook breakfast at home). It is very clean and clearly very well maintained. Yes, it's an older space both in design and appearance. Again, it's a diner, and that is why you're there. I will say that we did have to wait for a place to sit, and parking nearby can be challenging. It is also cash only, which is a real pain. But it's also just about the best diner I've ever been to. Great in every way! I've been coming here for years and just realized I haven't given them the five stars they deserve. As others have mentioned, this place remains cash only so make sure to grab some before you get here. There's a bank next door with an ATM if you forget. Their breakfasts are out of this world and really can't be beat for the price. Their lunch specials are great too, specifically the spaghetti and meat sauce. Everything is cooked on two tiny flat top grills and two burners by Nick (yes, The Nick) and his son. When the place is crowded (and it is every Friday Saturday and Sunday morning) expect to wait for a table, and food moves out of the "kitchen" a little slowly due to the cooktop size, but it is 100% worth the wait. They accept CASH ONLY! Very old fashioned diner with professional waitresses. I love being there as it reminds me of a good home cooked meal! The bacon, eggs, and everything else in the menu is cooked with a home made taste to it. I've even had the sandwiches (they're known for breakfast) and that's also pretty tasty. Food is absolutely delicious!! Parking could be a bit larger. It's a small lot (really small) or you have to pay to park on University Blvd. Hence the only reason why it isn't 5 starts. When we arrived there I saw the place could use some remodeling on the outside, when we sat down it could also use remodeling in the inside. We arrived at 1:15 on a Saturday with 2 kids for lunch. There was a wait, which would have normally been ok. But they were saving two tables of their small restaurant for a party that hasn't arrived yet, and they refused to give us an estimate of our wait time. Turned out to be 45+ mins. The kids were starving by then and we told them that we wanted to order right away. They said they'd get a waitress. Took 30 minutes for the waitress to even come over - and that was after us asking 3 times. The food took another 40 minutes to make - pancakes and 2 sandwiches. Insane! The girl bussing spilled cream on us and never cleaned it up or even apologized. The waitress never brought us water even though we asked twice. And after all that, the pancakes were burned beyond recognition and the sandwiches were mediocre at best. Never again: that's for sure. read more

After years of driving by this diner, I never stopped until today. A friend of mine now works night (and she is new to the area) and I wanted to find a place to have breakfast when she gets off her shift. One friend had placed good comments on Facebook about this and I wanted to give it a go as a place to take my new friend. Bad decision. Parking is only available if you are heading westbound on University Boulevard. Impossible from any other route. First impression on walking in at the restaurant - filthy. The floor had trash food and squished food all over the place. Space is very cramped and I thought the food was marginal at best. Over easy eggs were runny, sausage was good, The hash browns (real sliced potatoes not string potatoes like at IHOP) were flavourful BUT because they were stacked high on the grill and probably taken from the top, were only warm. The toast was scantly buttered and "hard" like it was stale. On the contrary, I was very impressed that the salt and pepper shakers were not oily from other customer fingers. Kinda blew my mind. But glad. VERY nice and welcoming staff member who took my order and checked on me appropriately half way. Water served in plastic glass; had to ask for a straw based on the general dirty state of the diner. This diner has been there forever. I'm not a fan and won't be back. But I wish them continued success. The other patrons seemed to be old friends oblivious of the squishy dirt and trash food on the floor. The testament to a good diner/restaurant is return customers. The pancakes, eggs, breakfast meats, and home fries are always cooked perfectly and I highly recommend their scrapple since it nice and thick.
