This place has 5-star food with a very nice, but very slow moving wait staff. My weekday experience was more of a 5, my weekend experience was more of a 2.5 so since the food was worth it I'll give them a 4 even though this is another place that runs out of waffles at 10:30 AM on a Sunday. The chicken and waffles were great, the eggs Benedict, homemade Italian sausage and potatoes were great, the traditional pancake breakfast was great, the biscuits and gravy, not so much. The gravy was very thin and not a good flavor at all so maybe avoid this.

I stopped by here while I was visiting Providence for Comic Con. It was a recommendation by the hotel I was staying at. I walked in and was greeted by the waitress. She was very friendly and professional. I ordered an omelette for breakfast and it was very good. Overall, I was satisfied with my experience. If you're visiting Downtown Providence, give this place a try.

I wish I could give this place a better rating, but unfortunately the food was mediocre and they were significantly understaffed. Our waitress was very kind but it was clear that more staff was needed. Two groups of people who were waiting for a table ended up walking out because of the wait. The food cost and quality were not aligned. I had the chocolate chip pancakes which were just okay and the breakfast potatoes had no flavor. The coffee was bitter and $3.50 a cup. I would have given this a lower rating but our waitress was so nice she made up for it. Again, I wish I could give a better rating but I don't think I would go back here.

I stopped by here when I was downtown for a work meeting. I ordered take out - I asked the waitress for what she recommended - something that was good but could be made quickly. She recommended the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and it was so good! I loved the bun and the chicken was lightly pan fried and the sauces were good. The fries were okay. The food was ready in 10 min. Unfortunately, their Apple Pay / tap machine wasn't working so I couldn't use my virtual gift card to pay. The server was so kind & the food was good so I would def return when I'm in the area!

NicoBellla has ample seating and has a diner vibe. The decor is all abstract art which adds a specific flair to the place. The menu is pretty large, and breakfast is served all day. We had a party of 9 come around lunch time, so I do not fault the waitress at all for any minor mistakes. The food I give 3.5 stars to though. The sugar waffle is great, the French fries were good, but the rest was sub par. The burgers were very over cooked and not really "smash" burgers. The garlic aioli needed more garlic.. The Portuguese roll was good though for a bun. They also did not have any pickles available. The home fries and hash browns were both on the soggy side rather than crispy.

"Bells will ring, ting-a-ling-a-ling Ting-a-ling-a-ling and you'll sing, "Vita bella" (Dean Martin) The Omni has no breakfast dining option, just a room service delivery that would have run $40 or so for the two of us. So instead we went for a walk on Monday morning and eventually stumbled onto NicoBella, and man oh man, were we glad we found our way there. It was GREAT. The interior is a lot bigger than it seems from the outside. It has two dining rooms and a bar. The decor is quite pretty -a sea of black and white checked table cloths, ceramic tile, and lampshades. And the walls were covered with very nice paintings and prints and all sorts of decorations. Hats off to their design team -the place looks great. Our server was Jennie and she was a delight. She seemed to be the only one working the front of the house and she was a whirlwind of friendly, smiling, efficient activity. Our two coffees were excellent ($2.50 each). I ordered a $13 Downtown Wrap and my wife chose a $6 Two Egg Breakfast with toast and hash browns. My Wrap was amazing. Two scrambled eggs, ground sausage, peppers and onions, diced bacon and cheese served with hash browns. I didn't even eat the wrap, I scooped everything out and still had plenty to enjoy. What a feast. Our bill was $27 before tip for a freshly cooked sit down breakfast in a gorgeous and very comfortable restaurant with fantastic service. We could not have been happier with NicoBella.

We stopped in on a Sunday morning for a quick breakfast before heading out for our 8 hour drive down south. They had several large tables but was still able to be seated for a party of 4. A very warm atmosphere with a catering service. Our food came out fresh and was delicious. A pleasant experience from service to the food, we now have a go-to spot when we visit the next time. Waited 40 minutes for breakfast. The food was all wrong and cold. Went to talk to a dude who claimed to be the manager and he said we are the table that it happened to today...... Lucky us as on my daughters birthday. Omelets had whatever they decided to throw inside them and one had meat in it and we have a vegetarian that it was served to. Ordered Swiss and the cheese was definitely not Swiss. Again, they throw whatever they want in an omelet and put it in front of you. Two sodas were flat, chocolate milk warm. Should have known. The "manager" said the server would be the one paying the check out of HER pocket even though she said that they were comping the check. Manager was the one and again said SHE would be paying for it. HIS QUOTE "I AM NOT HERE TO FEED YOUR FAMILY." That was absolutely uncalled for and this 40 year restaurant veteran needs to check his attitude at the door and maybe find a job that is not customer facing. This place is an utter disgrace and I beg you to help shut it down. This type of service is absolutely unacceptable and has no right serving patrons. Server said she was taking care of the check and then when we left her a generous tip and walked out the manager chased us outside and told us we were skipping the check. Are you serious?? We settled the check after they found the right one and checked a fee to use a credit card!! This is a restaurant and it is not posted ANYWHERE on their menu. Is that legal?? We found out the "managers" name is Robert Kennedy. He doesn't belong in hospitality.

How is this place not packed a Saturday morning? The service was hospitable, the artwork was lively, and best of all were the breakfast options! I had corned-beef benedict and it was an absolute treat. Others with me had biscuits and gravy, the breakfast wrap, and 2-egg plate. We all enjoyed our meals. Also, the salt and pepper shakers are so unique.

Waited in the restaurant for 2 hours on Saturday evening with no food served. Not even an appetizer. This restaurant was hosting jazz music outside, and strongly believe it was the wrong priority with payroll especially when it seemed like there were no staff in the kitchen. It felt like our entire party inside was disregarded. I have never had such a poor dine in experience ever in my life. Very much disappointed and do not recommend this restaurant.

Came here for breakfast due to hotel recommendation. Nice easy walk from hotel. Place wasn't crowded when we got there around 10:30 but quickly got close to full . Food and service was good, I wouldn't say great. Was overall pleased, just hotel seemed to make it out to be better, maybe my expectations were too high.

Great diner! Think Al's diner on the TV show Alice. Wonderful family tan business. You can tell they care about each other. Don't be in a hurry. Soak up the vibe they are laying down. If you need something, ask. Enjoy. The waffle don't need no syrup. The grits were a wonderful surprise. That spicy sausage with eggs, good stuff. Love NicoBella! I went back every day of my visit to Providence. read more

Was nearby to take care of some business and stopped in here for an early lunch at one of their outdoor tables. Had a lobster roll & fries, as did my companion. Bun was toasted perfectly, lobster salad was simple (a good thing) and delicious. Fries were piping hot. Our server was attentive, friendly, and overall fantastic. 10/10 recommend, will be back the next time in Providence. Didn't get a chance to take a good picture because it looked so good I dug in immediately! read more

Ordered through GrubHub and they did not have a menu item that was ordered, but decided to not tell us. The chocolate chip pancakes were very dry, the bacon was rubbery and ended up being thrown out. read more

I came here for lunch earlier in the week, and the lobster roll was actually really good. I would definitely recommend it. But today I came in for breakfast. The sign outside said they were open at 7 AM, but they didn't open the doors till 8, so I waited about 10 minutes. That wasn't that big of a deal, since I was not in a hurry, but the fact that my food was served lukewarm was not great. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with two scrambled eggs on the side, the scrambled eggs were hot and good, but the biscuits and gravy were not hot at all, and I had to ask to get them to reheat it. I also asked to just get the biscuits and gravy with eggs, but the server said they always put the potatoes with everything. I wasn't charged for them, so again not a huge deal, but a little weird to not be able to just get just the items I wanted. The server did bring back a new plate of biscuits and gravy, and it was hot and delicious. Seemed to be made up fresh, Italian sausage was yummy. But overall because of the initial service food issues and the order quirkiness, I'm just giving three stars. read more

Waiting for servers 30 minutes and the food came almost an hour with dry, over cook. I ordered lox and bagel. The bagels burn and hard. My hotel recommend us to come here but we're really disappointed. Never ever going to come back. Not recommend!!! read more

I wish there was a way to give less than one star. We (party of 4) were staying in Providence for a short trip and our hotel didn't have a restaurant. We waited about 7 minutes at the hostess stand before anyone asked us how many. I wouldn't have actually minded that if it was busy, but all of the waitstaff were milling about by the counter and didn't look overly busy. It was then that I walked up to someone and asked if we could sit at one of the open tables. A nice waitress came up to take our order and she didn't write anything down. This didn't alarm me because I have friends in the service industry who can handle large orders without writing it down. After 40 minutes, our breakfasts arrive and 2 were cold and 2 were not the correct order. They actually gave me an omelet with sausage in it - which I would NEVER ORDER because I am a vegetarian. One of my party went up to the "manager" to complain and he was told, "Yeah, we were really busy last night so having trouble this morning." After that, the waitress came over and said to us that they were sorry about the issues and they were going to comp the check. Her exact words!! So, we left what we thought would be a reasonable tip on the table ($10) and walked out. It was then that this "manager" came barreling out of the restaurant and said, "What? You're not going to pay your check?" I replied, "The waitress said it was comped because of all of the issues." He then says, "I'm not here to feed your family for free! She can't do that - it's going to come out of her check." Seriously?! That is not how you run a business. Maybe it was her fault for not writing it down? Maybe it was the cook's fault for not looking at the order? Whatever it was - it wasn't our fault and we should not have been treated like criminals. Oh, and the kicker - they don't tell you, but you have to pay a 3% fee if you pay with a credit card. So not only did we pay for meals we didn't eat, we paid 3% more for them. read more

Waited over an hour for breakfast...restaurant ran out of silverware....this place is completely dysfunctional....about half the diners around us left before receiving their breakfast...when it eventually came one of the meals was not what was ordered...I had to eat my biscuits and gravy with a spoon as no fork was provided...I would strenuously urge against eating here at least on a weekend Update: fork finally came after meal was finished read more

Visiting from the west coast I was determined to taste the some real New England seafood. Walking through DT Providence I stumbled upon a sign offering lobster rolls; clearly a sign from above. The staff is awesome and the place truly has a family vibe. The lobster roll was exquisite. There are plates of lobster that don't have chunks this big! Also got a local brew which paired perfectly with the Sammy. A must visit! read more

Went here after a dissappointing experience at Waffle on Weybossett around the corner (see my review there-would not accept VALID unexpired gift certificates)...the staff at Nico Bella's was great, they made my 90-year old stepfather amazingly delicious waffles w/a bowl of fresh fruit, we had pizza...Carmelized Onion...incredible, can't wait to go back & try other pizzas and the burgers looked scrumptious...breakfast menu very reasonable. Daniel came over and told us about expansion plans next door on the Dorrance side for a Jazz Stage and an Ice Cream window on the Westminster side...hmmm mmm mm, on both fronts! Can't wait for tables outside for Brunch! read more

I'm sure the food is great. But after waiting for a while to be seated we sat and watched others be seated and served well before us. We would have waited longer if we could have put at least a drink order in but no service. After seeing the party which came well after us get served their food and we had not even been given drinks it felt ridiculous to stay any longer. Again, im sure the food is great, I've heard good things about the food. The service however needs some work. read more

Just had a wonderful dinner with 12 family members. We ordered a half dozen different items and even some that weren't in the menu (a stuffed Haddock with drawn butter, baby!!!). Chef Brian hit it out of the park. He came out to make sure he had it all right and just made our night. Great food, service, and atmosphere! read more

If you're looking for lobster roll, this is the place. Went to providence on a work trip and set out to find the best lobster roll. After my trip, I can say this is the best one I had!! Very flavorful and had a small bed of lettuce at the bottom of the sandwich that added to the crunch but didn't take away space from the lobster. The sweet potato fries that come with the roll are delicious also! Quick service, friendly staff, and great food: 10/10 would recommend. read more

The food is amazing. You can tell everything is made from scratch. The service is friendly and owner is attentive to the customers. I personally think everything is fairly priced. If I could give zero stars, I would. This was the most offensive and disappointing dining (or should I say waiting) experience I have ever had. These guys should be ashamed of themselves. They kept us waiting for 15 minutes for a table and then tried to seat people who had just walked through the door ahead of us. We were ignored at our table for 20 minutes, while waitstaff looked right at us and pretended we weren't there. I have no idea what the food is like, nor will I ever. read more

A wonderful addition to downtown providence! I stopped in this morning after getting off work at 7:30am. I had a delicious vegetable eggs Benedict over a Portuguese muffin. I was beyond surprised at the quality and taste of this meal! I had a delicious Bloody Mary (working nights it's a joy to find a breakfast restaurant that serves a full service bar when I leave work at 7:30am). The owners and Stephen the Barista/Server were welcoming and enjoyable! Next time I will try an espresso from their espresso machine or a cold brew nitro coffee (my favorite!) I am so excited to have this restaurant downtown across my from apartment! read more

We are in town for the Providence marathon and we found this gem. The service was very personable and friendly and the food was delicious. My children were very happy with their French toast and I loved the veggie omelette and the latte. The veggies were fresh and not overcooked. It was a generous portion and it satisfied my post- marathon rungries. This is a really pretty place. I can't call it a diner- the food is fresh and the decor is beautiful and very tastefully done. I love the art on the walls. It adds to the ambience. My children and I spent some time deciphering the surrealist painting above our table. Everything is very reasonably priced and affordable for families. We will definitely come back. read more

Two eggs over medium should be some yoky not hard and one slice of rye should never ever be served to a customer!! I come to Providence a few times a year and probably won't come back here unfortunately it's close to where I stay read more

Dinner was good. Comfort Italian food. There is so much good Italian food in RI it is difficult to give the food here a 5 star rating. For the price, the food is decent. They definitely need an educated bartender, but I am sure that will come in time. Our waitress was very attentive when we first came in, but kinda forgot about us for a while prior to ordering: we watched her playing around on her phone while we waited for service. Eventually we had to get up and order a bottle of wine because we gave up on her. After that she was attentive, but forgetful. The jazz band was awesome! We've decided to come here to see the bands that play on Saturday and have a drink. read more

We always practice positive vibes only! In addition to showcasing some of the best food that the city has to offer, NicoBella's will exhibit and support local artists, believing that Providence's Renaissance has been built and is dependant on it's diverse and vibrant creative community. History

Established in 2015.

Our family has over 90 years of history owning and working in restaurants. We opened our first NicoBella's at 74 Dorrance St and closed for renovations. After almost two years, we moved to our new home just a block away at 10 Dorrance St. In addition to getting a larger and more modern space, we are excited to share we will be bringing back many of our customer's favorite dishes, recipes that have been handed down for generations, and even some new items including vegetarian friendly dishes.

Meet the Business Owner: Daniel C.

Hard work ethic, passion, and entrepreneurship would be the main ingredients to fuel my culinary experience stretching over 36 years in and around the Providence area at places like Alfredo's, Capriccio's, owning the Castle Spa, working and consulting with Brewed Awakenings, Chardonnays in Seekonk, and of course, NicoBella's.

At one point I watched a staff member speak sharply to a customer while waving a sign that said "No laptops at the bar." The confusing part was that the customer didn't appear to have a laptop at all. The interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational and awkward to witness. Taken together, the tone of the staff came across as petty and uninviting, which really undermined what could otherwise be a pleasant place to stop for coffee. The drinks and food were good, but the atmosphere made the experience feel tense. Visitors may want to keep in mind that seating and house rules seem to be enforced quite strictly.

This morning, the hotel clerk recommended a mom and pop restaurant because the little hipster bakery around the corner was closed. I wasn't sure when I entered because it was under construction and reminded me of other restaurants on the road that have disappointed me. I found the Italian equivalent of the Vista Del Mar, my mother's restaurant in Eureka, California. I got there before opening time, so Daniel, the cook and owner, welcomed me and talked me through the menu, ultimately choosing my meal. It was delicious. Honestly, one of the best breakfasts I have ever eaten. Sorry, Mom, the coffee was way better. The ham, the eggs, the Italian toast were delicious, but it was the care and courtesy that made me a fan. Daniel tried to talk me into the corned beef, but I had my heart set on the ham. About half-way through my meal, Daniel comes out with a plate of corned beef hash, the house specialty that his wife makes nightly, because "you just have to try it." There have been so many moments of generosity and grace in this town. This restaurant is completely unsanitary with dirty silverware and dirty glassware. I had an omelette which was half cooked and waited 25 minutes for it. Lastly The restaurant was filled with homeless people from Kennedy Plaza that keep coming in and begging for free food and money as soon as you walk outside. It was an absolutely terrible experience for someone from out of town. I am upset with the Biltmore for recommending this restaurant to me. They should really be removed off the list and have the health department check that restaurant thoroughly For sanitation issues. About once every 20 years I stumble upon a great dining experience completely by accident. That happened tonight at NicoBella's. I ordered fettucine alfredo, my test dish. It wasn't on the menu but our waitress Nancy told us that Chef Brian would make anything that we wanted - from scratch. The fettucine was the best I have had in years. And for dessert we had something phenomenal - Nutella pizza!! As good as it sounds. I was reluctant to have to leave the other beautiful desserts untasted - for this time - but I only had so much room. Attentive service and very reasonable prices. One of my favorite places in Providence, so cozy and the food is made with such love and care. With this being a new family owned restaurant in the heart of downtown, constantly progressing in moving forward from their grand reopening after changing locations, you gotta to give credit. Clean, friendly staff, and an overall aesthetically pleasing ambiance. Reasonable prices for location, amazing quality, great for families, and on top of all that generous portions! Awesome food, awesome service! Great family run business. Breakfast, lunch, dinner in a much needed area of bustling downtown Providence. The gnocchi is a must. Steak dinner was so juicy. Breakfast potatoes were some of the best I ever had. They cater parties and make deliveries! They even stayed opened late during the snow storm to support the servicemen and plowers and made sure they had a place to go after all their hard work. Can't say enough about this place! Love the vibe of the place. Really funky and interesting art everywhere. The service is super friendly. They have a pretty diverse selection of menu items for breakfast and lunch. Was told they'd be opening for dinner and a bar soon too. It's a downtown city place but the staff made you feel like you lived in the area and were there everyday. Definitely worth a visit if you're staying in downtown Providence. read more
