Rolls are buy 2 get 1 free *to go orders only. It's a hit or miss with the rolls. We ordered 4 rolls - Dragon, Moon Special, Mountain and Brand's. The Dragon and Mountain rolls were the best out of the 4 rolls. They were both filled with toppings and great quality fish. I was bummed the Moon Special roll didn't taste like shrimp or tuna at all, it tasted mainly of rice and avocado but it was better with soy sauce and wasabi. I placed an order over the phone and the lady was pretty friendly. The order took about 25 mins and was ready upon pick up. I wouldn't go out of my way but may try a few different rolls if I happen to stop by another time. read more

Tuesday, 6/23/2020 - drove by Ninja Sushi for 10 years now and have always wanted to stop by to try it. Finally tonight I was able to try them. This is what happens when COVID19 happens and restrictions apply. Working from home, I no longer have to beat traffic and get home late. So am able to try it tonight. Upon arrival, there's plenty of parking, restaurant is clean, it's quiet for tonight, plenty of seating, bathroom clean, cute little set up. Pros: 1) restaurant is clean. 2) tables, plates and cups clean. 3) women's bathroom clean; has 2 stalls, 1 sink. 4) waitress was nice. She checked on us several times to see if we needed anything. 5) they have a buy 2 rolls, get the 3rd free Monday to Saturday evenings. 6) after we're done eating, we got our tab right away and the waitress took it and brought back my card right away. 7) restaurant was quiet. 8) tiger roll and the salmon scallop roll was good. For me, the scallop was a little slimy. I had a hard time eating that one. 9) I asked for a zigzag. It's not on the menu. They made it for me. A Zigzag roll is $17.95. 10) plenty of foods to choose from the menu. Cons: 1) it's really hard to find someone who can make a zigzag right and good. I am happy they made it per my request. But it was tooooo mushy. Not very good. You couldn't even taste the crunchy in it. Besides that, there is no other cons to the restaurant. This is a cute little restaurant. This place SUCKS! Called this place at 8:45 to place an order TO-GO no answer. So I drove there and arrived at 9:02... mind you they advertise closing at 9:30pm (Sunday). Walk in with no one in the restaurant only to be told, "sorry closed!" So I asked, "not even for TO-GO order?" And he responded, NOPE!" And walked away! Stopped by here on a Wednesday night and it wasn't very busy. When you first walk on there is a Kiki's inside now and you can order at the kiosk. If you turn and walk then you can sit down for the sushi restaurant. It was cute inside and clean. We order two rolls and the bento box. I REALLY ENJOY & APPRECIATE the convenience of being able to call in and place a lunch order for sushi... Unfortunately, Ms Hostess (name has not been provided either time), has been INCAPABLE of handling my call and taking my order the last 2 times I've attempted to call one in. I've experienced 2 instances now where Ms hostess has answered the line, I requested to place a to go order, and was then placed on hold for 20+ mins. She never came back on the line to assist with my order, and I disconnected the call and did not call back, because what would be the point since the same incompetent Ms Hostess would be assisting me. I do not have time for 1) To keep calling back in hopes that Ms Hostess will ACTUALLY do her job, and for 2) I do not have the time to wait on hold for 20+ mins. To have a customer waiting on hold for that long with no assistance or check in provided is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. Our family loved to go to Ninja Sushi. Julian was an excellent host, rather goofy sometimes, but so much fun. He danced with my 96 yo mom, took the little grands in the back to choose their own drinks. The sushi was always delicious, fish always fresh. The restaurant has been sold, and it does not bode well. Our usual rolls were heavy on the mayo, and all tasted the same. The tempura was greasy. I had to ask for a washcloth to clean the filthy soy sauce bottle and the pre set plates were dirty. We have been to Ninja Sushi many times before the change in ownershp with no complaints. HOWEVER while the food was good, prior to ordering I asked what was included in my order of tempura and sesame chicken, the waitress s said 3 shrimp, 3 carrots, and an asparagus. my grandson also ordered an appetizer (Edamame) in addition to the Red Dragon. When the entrees arrived I had 2 shrimp 1 carrot and a broccoli. My grandson was missing the Red as in Red Dragon. When I asked where the other shrimp and carrots were the waitress said because we ordered an appetizer they cut the meal back. (with no reduction in price). I couldn't believe my ears. I later spoke to the owner or I think he was the owner and he said that is what it is. He actually yelled at us. (Which was not embarrassing as the place was completely empty at 6;30 PM that Saturday night. ) The service, by the one waitress, was marginal. Empty dishes were left in front of us until I requested they be removed. The music was blasting either hard rock or extremely loud yelling to "music". It took three requests to lower the music and then we still had to cup our ears to have a conversation. Until they get their act together, I would not recommend Ninja Sushi at this time. read more

I came in weeks back, it had been a couple years since my last visit. (Pre-pandemic) I walked in and it was almost empty at lunch time on a Friday. The first thing I noticed is how cold it was inside. (Next time I'll dress warm) that won't take away from my review though. I ordered (I may be calling the names of the rolls slightly wrong) the Bri's special and the spicy Big Mac They were brought out on cute wooden tower type serving plates, really pretty. The rolls were HUGE! (The presentation and portion size much better than I remember my last visit) I usually can eat 2-3 rolls at other sushi places, but I ended up taking 1/2 of each roll home. They were both sooooo good! I live near downtown, so it's a little bit of a drive, but I'll be going back again soon!! The server was really nice as well. Like I said, the chilliness of the restaurant is the only thing I can complain about. ------- Update I came in today with my daughter, and ordered 3 rolls and stuffed jalapeños. I got the Crunchy Dragon roll and the Double Dragon roll whilst my spouse got the sashimi. the Crunchy Dragon roll I get at Sora's is deliciously spicy with spicy tuna and spicy mayo but Ninja had no spicy! And I'm pretty sensitive to spicy. And only half of my roll even had sauce. The Double Dragon roll was okay. The sashimi was also only okay. It definitely didn't taste super fresh or quality. Decided to get take out, since being quarantined. Been awhile since we ventured out and tried going out. Usually we dine in here. It's my son's favorite. We ordered 4 bento boxes. Three teriyaki chicken and one beef. Also so me mixed tempura. All the chicken was burnt and so was the tempura. I've never experienced this from this restaurant. Usually everything is fresh and very tasty. Also the owner is very friendly and welcoming. Not sure what happen this time, but his staff need quality assurance training. How could they let this kind of food go out. I was highly disappointed. My family did not enjoy their dinner. $70 for something I could of burned myself. I feel very uncomfortable when trying to have a relaxing dinner, but I can't because the owner/Manager aka .... the guy with the ponytail using foul language not only inappropriate language was used in front of me and my kid, but I felt even more disrespected when he kept calling me brotha. I just so happen to be African-American and I find it inappropriate communicating with your ethnic customers this Way (if you don't know them). If I was the same person I was in 2013, it would have been a bad situation. He is highly unprofessional. I won't be back due to this place not being kid/family friendly. Stopped by late afternoon for take-out and should have known it wasn't going to be great. The temp in the place had to be about 85 degrees (feel sorry for the staff) which should have been my clue that the sushi probably wasn't stored cool either. Ordered 2 rolls, sunomono and gyozas. The gyozas seemed old and just heated up. The sunomono was nothing more then sliced cucumbers with rice vinegar splashed on it and the rolls were filled with old, cold, deep fried shrimp and then covered in what I can only assume was siracha and honey! I couldn't even describe what it was but they were both soaked in it. And while I waited, I had to listen to the owner curse and bad mouth his staff as he worked the front. The poor waitress that he was venting to wasn't sure what to do about it either. Have to work in no A/C and then listen to your boss bad mouth people? I've been here a few times but this last visit was pretty bad. The two young girls working didn't have any good work ethic. Nor did they know the menu enough to answer any questions I had. I would consider it understandable if they hadn't stood around waiting for their shift to end. We came on a Thursday about an hour before closing so service was decent since we were the only patrons in the restaurant. The waitress took our orders and had zero issues with splitting the bill 4 ways since we were a party of 4 couples. Only gripe was our appetizers came out at the same time as our food and one even came out after we had finished our entrees. Their menu doesn't seem to be what it once was based on other reviews. They don't offer BOGO sushi anymore and their prices have for sure inflated like everything else post COVID. They also do not offer sake bombs anymore. You have to order the sake and beer separately and basically pour your own as they will provide a empty cup and shot glass. From my understanding, someone broke the shot glass while doing it drop shot style and cut themselves so it became a liability. The menu seemed huge, lots of rolls but as I read through them they all sounded the same. We opted for the BBQ albacore, melting albacore, Crunchy dragon roll and beef teriyaki. The BBQ albacore was fully cooked and dry, huge disappointment. The melting albacore was disgusting. The tuna was so tough and almost unchewable. The dragon roll was mediocre but my husband really seemed to enjoy his beef teriyaki. I had to leave some love. Not only was the food phenomenal, the owner Julian made the experience worth the drive. Not many times you can feel an owners passion and energy through a intro, let alone a sit down with me at dinner . Every roll we had was fire. The Mac Daddy and pepper fin was my fav. They have a roll Annie's Special that was life changing with the special sauce they use. The freaky was a MUST. NEVER COMING HERE AGAIN! i asked for a tiger roll with cream cheese and regular shrimp not fried shrimp due to not being able to eat fried food. The lady that took my order it was super confused. I explained two times and when I got there, I saw my receipt had an extra charge of three dollars for a fish add-on. When I asked her about it she said yes it's because of the shrimp and I said all because I don't want it fried and I want it regular and she said yes. i did not understand but when i got to work to eat my lunch there was the fried shrimp and shrimp on top of the roll that i did not ask for. i called and let them know they made me drive back and instead of people me on hold i can hear them asking the lady i ordered with and she said yeah she didn't even want to pay that's not my problem that's hers i was trained like this so whatever. then that's when i decided to go back in with only 15 mins left of my own lunch time and i had to tell three different people my order. They were still not understanding and I said if you guys do not make it like that, just let me know because no other place has given me a problem to help accommodate me. the guy said There's no problem Here. they did a horrible job of remaking it and all they did was removed the $3. Very fresh fish. Sushi roles were "fluffy" and fresh .... not sure how else to describe it. They were light an fresh tasting, not heavy and dense like some places. Ample fresh fish on the rolls. We moved back to Sacramento from the Bay Area and have been searching for a good fresh "go to" sushi place for months! We finally found it! The tempura and gyoza were also great... great sauces, not watered down like many places we've tried. Wakame salad and edamame were great. We've literally tried over 20 places using delivery services and this is by far the best (aside from Kru but their to go menu is limited and this one is a strong competitor). read more

I order my usual King Kong roll here. I asked for no masago and I noticed as I was eating it they smothered my role in spicy mayo sauce. They tried to cover up the masago they accidentally put on I'm assuming. Because when I asked them to bring it back because it had Masego in it, the waitress did not look surprised at all, she said was OK and brought it back to get it fixed, no apology or anything. I felt like they knew there was Masego on there. That's why they smothered my role in spicy mayo on top so I wouldn't see it at the bottom.
