4.5/5 vegetarian and vegan options available and clearly labeled: My friend and I were craving something warm and nourishing, so we decided to grab dinner at Nirvana, a local family owned Indian restaurant. It sits in the same plaza as the Starbucks on Huntington just off of second street in Arcadia. They've been open for at least a decade, but as of late, they can really use some more foot traffic. For such a solid spot, they really deserve some more community support! The food: I've already visited twice within the span of a few months, and both times I've really enjoyed everything we ordered. I ordered the Shahi Paneer, which was the staff's recommendation, with a mango lassi and side of rice and garlic naan, while my friend swears by their chicken biryani. We also got an appetizer to share, the mix vegetable pakora, which came with two sauces. My favorite was the appetizer, because it was perfectly crispy and not overwhelmingly greasy. The Shahi Paneer was creamy and naturally sweetened, which paired well with the herbs in the garlic naan. Nirvana's food has been consistently delicious, and everything was flavorful, without being too salty. The service: Honestly, the first time I was here, we arrived a little later than usual (~7:30 pm, they close at 9), and it felt like they might had something they were rushing to, because we were hustled out of the restaurant. But, I'm so glad we decided to come back (honestly the food is really enticing), because this second time around was such a pleasant dining experience. Our wait staff, Harman, was incredibly attentive, super friendly, and hilarious. We were joking with her our entire dinner. I asked them to make my main extra mild (I know, I'm a pleb), and she really communicated this request to the kitchen, despite some playful teasing, because everything was really well seasoned and not spicy like I asked. After we finished eating, they even kindly offered dessert on the house. We struggled to make up our minds so we asked for rice pudding before deciding on the pistachio ice cream, but they end up bringing out a serving of each and treating us to both desserts, which was such a nice gesture. If you're not a huge fan of sweets, the rice pudding is a little milder and not too sweet, but if you want to enjoy a little indulgence, their ice cream was seriously fantastic. It was a sweet way (no pun intended) to end our night. Everything else: The restaurant smells of light incense, and has a couple of televisions at the corner of the rooms that were showing the World Cup games. Parking is easy and plentiful. Overall, Nirvana has been added to my list of one of my favorite restaurants in the SGV, and certainly my preferred Indian spot over some others nearby. If you're ever in this side of town or are looking for a tasty and warm meal, I'd definitely recommend stopping by. Their menu has meat, vegetarian, and vegan options, so it'll likely have something for everyone.

Solid Indian restaurant that serves a weekday buffet. The menu is extensive and features lots of classic Indian dishes. The quality is very good and comes with lots of chunks of meat. The interior is clean and well decorated. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Excellent service and delicious food to match. Beware, the food is too good! You cannot go wrong with any of their options.

    Chicken korma, Chicken Biryani

Been here a couple of times now food is always fire and fresh staff is super attentive and nice last time we came in 20 minutes before closing and they were still nice enough to let us sit and eat and treated us very well

Chicken briyani, saag chicken, vegetable korma, garlic and plain naan

Great place to enjoy some flavorful Indian cuisine. We came here on the Tues night ordering our usual favorites. The briyani did not disappoint. The bell pepper was a nice touch to this curry dish. Owners were very kind and check up on us frequently. Restaurant is clean, parking is ample. Will definitely come back for second.

My go-to local Indian spot! Though a bit pricey, the quality and quantity is worth the price for pretty much anything you get here.

In the way of ambience, they have a lot of license plates, freeway type signs and other signage throughout the facility. It is very neat and clean and the decor is actually very nice.! I am not usually the biggest fan of bbq(a lot of bbq sauces aren't it for me)... but I LOVE Jake's, the secret is in the sauce!! It's sweet and tangy in the perfect way and ends up with a smoky flavor from when they cook it as well. I looooove the huge beef ribs here, and the chicken is pretty good too. I've also tried the baby back ribs, which my family loves but I'm more of a beef kinda gal. Haven't tried much else on the menu because I just love the beef ribs so much tbh. The fries and salad are good, some other sides kinda feel like an afterthought, but the sides aren't the highlight here. I like the "roadside" nostalgic vibe inside, and the staff are nice. Some of the staff have been there for a long time and know a lot of the customers. Overall, this is my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood, and when Monrovia comes up in conversation, I always mention Jake's :)

It's located inside a busy shopping plaza so parking can be difficult, especially on the weekends. It's open daily 7am-7pm Service was average since this is one of those " pay at the counter for the food and take a seat" kind of place. However, it would have been nice if the cashier told us to grab our soy milk from the fridge or at least handed it to us after we ordered it. We were waiting 15+ minutes for the items only to go up to the counter and realize that we were supposed to get it ourselves but we're never told to do so. It's quite small inside but there is a decent amount of seating Pricing is resonable and nearly everything is under $15! The Curry Pastry ($2.60) was pretty good. It would've been better if it was more crispy but the filling was very delicious and had plenty of curry and beef! The Sweet Soybean Pudding ($4.50 - large) was delicious! Be sure to let them know to put the syrup on the side otherwise they combine it for you! The tofu was very soft, silky, and fresh. I was very relieved that the syrup wasn't too sweet since they combined it inside. The Soymilk ($4.25 - large) was very sweet and didn't have much of a soybean taste. It would have been better if it wasn't so sweet so I could taste more of the soybean. NOTE: they offer salty soymilk and soybean pudding but it's +$0.25 more than the sweet Soymilk and soybean pudding! The Peanut Milk ($4.25) was pretty good. It was very creamy and nutty! If you like peanut butter, then this is a must! It wasn't too sweet and it was very refreshing. Overall, I liked the soybean pudding more than the Soymilk and the prices were reasonable so I most likely will recommend and return!
