I was excited to see how special it can taste to charge this price. Sadly, I am very disappointed. I only can taste a very sweet lemonade flavor and even after I mixed in the matcha cloud I can barely taste any matcha flavor. And I am not sure where the yuzu flavor is at all. I only can taste a very traditional lemonade flavor. Honestly I think this drink super overpriced for just a regular lemonade drink. Pricey but really good stuff. I never had this type of mochi before. It's extremely soft and smooth, almost to the point of being slimy but in a good way. It would be excellent in a drink or as a topping on ice cream. There were four different flavors at the time of my visit - kinako (roasted soybean powder), matcha, black sesame, and cinnamon matcha. I ordered the 2 flavor, 12 piece mix which came with 6 pieces each of matcha and kinako with a side of brown sugar syrup. They tasted great even without the syrup but definitely tasted better with it. I used some of the left over syrup in milk to make brown sugar milk drink. It was fantastic. Also tried its Hojicha Cloud Latte, which is the best tasting hojicha drink I ever had. It was pricey even for a small size, but was worth it. It probably would've been better to pay the extra $1.25 and gotten a large size because the small was really small. It's located in the center of the food court at the mall. read more

I saw this little booth in the food court with attractive videos showing fancy mochi being made so I decided to check it out. I got a combo box of 2 types warabimochis. I have had many types of mochis, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese. They are usually made with highly kneaded glutinous rice dough. Not sure what these were made of but they tasted nothing like the mochi I'm familiar with. The "dough" tasted like very loose cornstarch jelly that's completely void of any flavor and texture. It so loose that it's almost liquid. Me no likie. There was sign indicating there was a limit of 100 boxes of this stuff per day. Loved this place in Japan and Hong Kong. Warabimochi doesn't last long so we've been craving for it in the US. So happy to find it in LA! This shop is inside the mall food court, so it's easy to find, and plenty of seating. The warabimochi tastes exactly the same as the one we had in Japan. I recently visited Japan and saw this store located in Asakusa. It's amazing the quality of the mochi tastes as it does in Japan. If you love really soft mochi, Warabimochi Kamakura is the place for you. I ordered the 12 piece mix which included Kinako and Matcha with brown sugar syrup on the side. The Kinako was my favorite, resembling a peanut-like soy powder. The matcha was great as well, but not my preferred flavor. The mochi tasted great on it's own, even though the brown sugar syrup was provided. The brown sugar syrup adds a roasted touch to the mochi. The staff was very helpful and informed me that the mochi should be stored in the fridge and eaten within the next few days. Luckily, the mochi was so light, we finished this within a few hours. The store is a very small and located in the middle of the Santa Anita food court. They have a standing counter on the right side of the shop to enjoy their desserts. I ordered the Hojicha to-go. Very cute place that sells unique and limited quantities of warabimochi (made daily and limited amounts to serve each day). It was dinner time so I'm not surprised if they ran out of some already (which they ran out of mini ones). But I also wanted ice cream to share with my kid so I ordered the chocolate ice cream warabimochi for about $6. It says it comes with two mochis so I can share with my partner. We were given a number and waited for our order to be called and at a nearby table. When we got our ice cream, it was half melted. I couldn't find the mochi yet so I suspected it was at the bottom and it was. I couldn't tell if it was two since I grabbed it and it was just one piece but I cut it in half to share. It was soft and chewy, I think it was a bit warm hence why the ice cream melted already. Long line just to get a 5-pc warabimochi for more than $10. The mochi itself was cut too big and kuromitsu too viscous. I would have cut each pieces into half the sizes. The syrup kept beading and rolling right off of the mochi. Super annoying! Would I return if I am visiting the area again? No. It's just not worth it. After a few minutes of searching, I found towards the center edge of the food courts. At the time of visit, the menu was difficult to access. The A-frame was up with their featured drinks, but the TV wasn't displaying a menu but rather some other features. Turns out it wasn't on the right page... but I ended up trying their new Matcha & Yuzu Lemonade with Mochi half sweet. At time of order, the staff warned me it wouldn't be too sweet and to reconsider sweetness levels before confirming. First impressions? Definitely tangy, and overly sweet even at half sweet. The drink was difficult to enjoy as was, so I took it home to dilute a tad since it was too sweet. By the time that happened, the mochi ended up sticking together, similar to boba. In the end, it ended up being a pudding dessert, scooped with a spoon. Overall, I'd probably return to try their mochi.
