Popped in for a little hit of caffeine. I ordered a large strawberry matcha latte. It's absolutely beautiful and tastes even better than it looks. Make sure to mix it really well before consuming to ensure you get delicious bits of jelly strawberry.
4 stars for the matcha and for the service. Still need to try the mochi and will come back to try it next time we're at the mall. Strawberry Matcha was sweet, creamy and delicious. Definitely going to get it again.
The Mixed 12 piece is a taste of the famous mochi: Matcha, Kinako, and Black Sesame. Thank you for the cashier for being so helpful! 12 pcs Mix (3 Flavors) $20.50. What a morning treat!
So we were at the mall and my friend says this is the mochi place she and I wanted to try. I didn't realize it was in the mall. Too bad you can't mix and match the other mochi flavors in one order. Anyways we ended up ordering the sesame mochi that was freshly made. It was so so sticky and came with this sweet sauce which I was okay with. I just enjoyed the black sesame all by itself. The helper cashier seemed moody and didn't want to answer some basic questions but we were there for the sesame mochi and I just wanted to dig into it. Since it's in the mall eating area there were plenty of seats to seat us down. I think eating it would've been better served with chopsticks over a for for some reason. I'd be back on another trip to try other flavors but they are a bit pricey.
I always pass by as it's literally right in the center when you first walk into the food court. Ordered a matcha latte without the jelly 50% sweetness then saw mini mix and decided to order for a sample taste. The mochi texture is really soft and extremely chewy not like other mochi spots. I'm glad I only got to sample one of each flavor. Don't think I would've want more. It was dusted with so much powder with brown sugar syrup on the side. I also didn't really like that I had to just down both on the spot. They don't have a lid for it or anything. But I can see why people like their mochi. The texture is pretty unique.
6/7/2026 First time at Warabimochi Kamakura. WARABIMOCHI 12 PC MIX (2 FLAVORS) 6 PC KINAKO, 6 PC MATCHA The warabimochi is very soft and jiggly. Softer than boba, soft like jello, yet has that chewy, gooey texture. Not my favorite texture, but glad I tried it. I just saw that they had black sesame flavor too, but I was in such a rush, I must have missed it on the menu. Comes with a little bottle of brown sugar syrup, which is rich in brown sugar flavor and quite sweet too. When poured over the warabimochi, it does only taste like the brown sugar syrup. I would recommend that you eat the warabimochi with ice cream. I didn't order any at the store, but ate the ice cream I had at home. Choice of ice cream was Straus Family Creamery's Vanilla Bean. It didn't overpower the warabimochi flavors of the matcha or kinako, it simply added more creaminess and additional texture to the dessert. Also, you can get a firmer texture when you put the warabimochi in the fridge overnight, which I thought was much better and enjoyable to eat. HOJICHA CLOUD Very good hojicha flavor. But mostly it is cream. Hence, the name Cloud. I got it 100% sweetness and I asked for warabimochi pieces added to the drink. They give you a boba straw to drink. Warabimochi was very soft, light chewiness, cut into smaller pieces. The drink was very slightly on the sweeter side, but it's that or 50% sweetness level. There was a lot of ice in it, which means there's less hojicha drink too. Got it in medium size. Small size and medium size cost difference is 0.75 cents. Best to get a medium size. There's also a large size, which is much bigger in comparison to the medium. STRAWBERRY MATCHA CLOUD This had a good matcha and strawberry flavor all around. They also added warabimochi in this drink too. The matcha is a cream top and the rest is strawberries with milk. It tasted good and not overly sweet. This was 100% sweetness. Personally wished there wasn't any warabimochi in it, but it automatically comes with the drink. Did not realize there would be any in it too until after I ordered it. I would reorder the drinks. Maybe order one without warabimochi though. I would try their other drink offerings too. I haven't tried their black sesame warabimochi, so might return to try that one. CUSTOMER SERVICE Good, friendly customer service. Only two people working. Warabimochi came out first, then the drinks. Everything came out in order and quickly. LOCATION Located at Santa Anita Mall. First floor. At the food court. Across from Zumiez and Shoe Palace, Daniel's, Game Stop. Just follow the Food Court sign and you'll find it quicker. It is a stand alone store right in the center of the food court.
Finally tried this place after passing by so many times. My friend and I shared the 2 pc kinako with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Total came out to be $6.35 including tax. It was a lot smaller than we expected, but we didn't take a good look at the pictures. I would NOT recommend sharing unless you really don't eat much. The mochi was good, but my friend was obsessed with the ice cream! I took a star off because the plastic spoon and flimsy container made it very difficult to eat. Taste wise it was good though. Service was quick, nothing to note about that. Ambiance...it's a small kiosk in a mall so very casual spot. I would definitely stop by if I visit the mall again but it's not somewhere I would go too out of my way to go to. Definitely a good place for dessert since it closed at I believe 9 pm!
I saw this little booth in the food court with attractive videos showing fancy mochi being made so I decided to check it out. I got a combo box of 2 types warabimochis. I have had many types of mochis, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese. They are usually made with highly kneaded glutinous rice dough. Not sure what these were made of but they tasted nothing like the mochi I'm familiar with. The "dough" tasted like very loose cornstarch jelly that's completely void of any flavor and texture. It so loose that it's almost liquid. Me no likie. There was sign indicating there was a limit of 100 boxes of this stuff per day. It was after 4 PM and I don't think it was in any danger of selling out. LOL
Conveniently located in the food court area of the Arcadia mall, this kiosk serves really good matcha and warabimochi for dessert. The staff member was very friendly, kindly answered all of our questions, and the service was fast and efficient! I ordered a small iced Strawberry Matcha Cloud Latte priced at around $7, which is a bit pricey for the size proportion - but worth every penny! This specific drink felt more like a sweet treat than it did matcha because of the strawberry syrup and cloud foam to top it off. I could taste the delicacy and authenticity of the matcha and would very much like to try their original iced matcha latte in the future. My family and I have also tried their Warabimochi and were pleasantly surprised at the taste. It had a very soft and chewy texture, but the perfect complementary sauce was the best part! It went so well with the warabimochi, adding a savory taste to the sweetened dessert. This place is a definite must-try that you can take with you while walking around the mall! Would want to come back and try their other drinks!
I've heard so much hype about this place and i'm finally in the mall so of course I had to try it. I would say it was good but not great. There was way too much of the powder, I don't know what the technical term was, but it was too much and the mochi itself was yummy but I prefer it to be more chewy and not super soft. I'm pretty sure it's what real mochi is but that's just my preference.
Came here to check out the mochi and after just coming back from Japan I wish there were more of these around. The mochi was so soft and sweet and chewy. I could have eaten four of these packs. The flavors of the kinako, matcha and sesame were also all so fresh and savory. Service was so quick and staff were so helpful. If you're looking for this place, it's in a kiosk in the main food court of the Santa Anita mall. Please open more of these in Southern California
I ordered the 5PC KINAKO. It came with a little bottle of sweet sauce, tasted like sweet soy sauce? The combination of the two tasted really good. However, there was a little bit too much powder on top, had to shake off all of it before eating. Came out to about $9 after tax, a bit pricey but I understand it takes alot of resources to make.. Service: quick and easy! Nice customer service Ambiance: cute stand. It's in the middle of the mall's food court.
Loved this place in Japan and Hong Kong. Warabimochi doesn't last long so we've been craving for it in the US. So happy to find it in LA! This shop is inside the mall food court, so it's easy to find, and plenty of seating. The warabimochi tastes exactly the same as the one we had in Japan. This location seems to be not too busy so we've never had to wait long for the food. 10/10 must get when you're in the area! Hopefully they open one in NorCal soon!

The matcha here is so good. Perfect amount, smooth and creamy not bitter at all and not too sweet. They add warabimochi to to it which can be a hit or miss if you don't like texturized foods. Finally got the chance to try it ---- and it was good! I like that it really balances the nutty taste and sweetness out, at least for the Okinawa latte. I don't usually go for nutty flavors but this was nice inside the drink. The yuzu lemonade, even after mixing it really well, was still too tart but at the same time sweet for our liking. read more

I recently visited Japan and saw this store located in Asakusa. It's amazing the quality of the mochi tastes as it does in Japan. If you love really soft mochi, Warabimochi Kamakura is the place for you. I ordered the 12 piece mix which included Kinako and Matcha with brown sugar syrup on the side. The Kinako was my favorite, resembling a peanut-like soy powder. The matcha was great as well, but not my preferred flavor. The mochi tasted great on it's own, even though the brown sugar syrup was provided. The brown sugar syrup adds a roasted touch to the mochi. The staff was very helpful and informed me that the mochi should be stored in the fridge and eaten within the next few days. Luckily, the mochi was so light, we finished this within a few hours. The store is a very small and located in the middle of the Santa Anita food court. They have a standing counter on the right side of the shop to enjoy their desserts. I ordered the Hojicha to-go. The cup was a bit small and the drink came unsweetened. At the counter, syrup is provided to adjust the sweetness as needed. read more
Got the hojicha cloud with mochi and the strawberry matcha with mochi. Cloud cream is on point and sweet enough with the hojicha shining through. The matcha was not too bitter and the sweetness of the strawberry complimented the soft mochi. Love boba but I think I like the warabimochi better. This is a must go whenever I'm in the area, especially when going to Santa Anita mall. This mall has been my dearest and I'm very happy how they added more stores and cafés and restaurants throughout the years. I really really love warabi mochi and this place just delivers! My favorite flavor is the kinako! I also love their hojicha cloud latte and Matcha latte! The food and drinks came out pretty fast. The staff are friendly too. They are located in the mall food court, so it was pretty loud. Good thing is that the hype was already died down so there was no long lines. read more
VERY good mochi! The fresh graham cracker powder on the outside of it is what makes it! A very delicate mochi with a lighter chew than most you have tried. I believe that is why the price is higher. Ambiance is a noisy food court inside Arcadia mall, but the service was very friendly. I would try it again. read more
Small Japanese cafe shop in the Westfield Santa Anita Mall food court area. - matcha and injeolmi warabimochi sample set: 7.0/10. yummy ! the mochi is such a soft, stretchy, and chewy texture with a good amount of sweetness. Very small portion, a bit pricey. - hojicha cloud latte: 7.3/10. The hojicha flavor is really strong and yummy but too sweet even at 50% sweetness. I like how the drink comes with warabimochi instead of boba. - okinawa kinako milk: 7.8/10. I love the kinako flavor. Drink was still a bit sweet at 50 sugar. The warabimochi topping us very yummy and fun to chew. read more
Located on the first floor near the food court, this spot offers a convenient quick treat. I tried the black sesame flavor ($11 for 5 pieces), and the pieces were pretty big. The mochi itself was very soft and chewy, which some might enjoy, but the texture wasn't really my favorite. Flavor-wise, I was a bit disappointed. It leaned more toward a generic sesame taste rather than the rich, nutty black sesame flavor I was expecting. Not bad, but probably wouldn't be my go-to. read more

The matcha tastes great! Not super bitter but still have a decently strong flavor! There is also a lot of chewy mochi at the bottom with strawberries!! Would definitely recommend!! read more

Cute spot. The lady at the counter was super helpful with recommendations. And the items came out fairly quick. The matcha mochi was so delicious! So soft! Reminded me of the ones I had in Japan a few years ago. I also had a brown sugar mocha matcha...which was equally delicious. I just forgot to take a picture of it. I think I'll always stop by this place for a treat when I'm at the mall. It filled my matcha craving heart read more

This review is only for the overpriced drink Ive tried. I ordered their matcha yuzu cloud lemonade. After tax is almost $10 for a large cup. I was excited to see how special it can taste to charge this price. Sadly, I am very disappointed. I only can taste a very sweet lemonade flavor and even after I mixed in the matcha cloud I can barely taste any matcha flavor. And I am not sure where the yuzu flavor is at all. I only can taste a very traditional lemonade flavor. Honestly I think this drink super overpriced for just a regular lemonade drink. I would give this drink a 1 star but I do like their warabimochi so I would leave it at 3 stars. read more
Very cute place that sells unique and limited quantities of warabimochi (made daily and limited amounts to serve each day). It was dinner time so I'm not surprised if they ran out of some already (which they ran out of mini ones). But I also wanted ice cream to share with my kid so I ordered the chocolate ice cream warabimochi for about $6. It says it comes with two mochis so I can share with my partner. We were given a number and waited for our order to be called and at a nearby table. When we got our ice cream, it was half melted. I couldn't find the mochi yet so I suspected it was at the bottom and it was. I couldn't tell if it was two since I grabbed it and it was just one piece but I cut it in half to share. It was soft and chewy, I think it was a bit warm hence why the ice cream melted already. I think it would've been better served separately since it felt like we were eating ice cream soup most of the time. Next time I'll probably just buy the mochi read more
Middle of mall food court. Very hard to find seating on weekend. Paid about 10.85 for the 5pc but it was fast considering the hype when it came out. The warabi mochi was yummy. The syrup is a darker brown sugar syrup more roasted flavor so not too sweet. The pieces are a bit big so I wished they cut it in half with the same amount. Not too matchay flavor. Nice chew. Overall, for the price its quite expensive. I would pay that if it was in an ambient tea house setting, but in the middle of the mall.. kind of dims the experience. Was yummy though and im happy to have waited post hype. read more
I haven't been to the Santa Anita mall in a while so when I saw this stall it intrigued me. After speaking to the employee and having her explain what they sell (mochi using a flour made from some kind of plant, instead of rice flour like traditional mochi), I decided to pick up a couple items to try. I ordered the Hojicha Cloud Latte and Mini Mix so I could sample the warabi mochi in different tastes and forms. Ok, so the texture of the warabi mochi is different than rice flour mochi, it's gooey and honestly watching my son eat the mini mix makes me think of Slimer from Ghostbusters. It's kind of hard to eat if you're trying to take a bite of it (it start to get oozy), but it's soo good! I really enjoyed both the soy and the matcha flavors. My son said that he liked it in the drink more than boba. It's a bit more expensive than your typical boba tea drink, but for an occasional splurge, I think it's worth it! read more

This place has been on my bookmarks for a while, being authentic Warabimochi from Japan. Small stall near the food court. Went on a Friday after work and they still had mochi left. It's an interesting texture, different than your typical mochi, seemed softer. Comes with brown sugar sauce that you can add on for more flavor. The flavor of the plain mochi with the powder was...interesting. worth trying, but I won't be back for seconds. read more
Warabimochi Kamakura has some of the best mochi I've had -- probably the best outside of Japan! The texture is so soft and fresh, and you can really tell it's made daily. It's a little pricey, but honestly worth it for the quality. It's located inside the mall in one of those small booths near the food court, which makes it super convenient. There was no line both times I visited, and I even bought some to take home -- still delicious! I haven't tried their drinks yet, but they look really good, especially the matcha (the color looks so rich and fresh). They do sell out toward the end of the day, so definitely try to go earlier. If you're into mochi, this place is a must-try! read more
A mochi station located in the mall, what a treat. Sadly, I was in a hurry when I stopped by so no mochi for me this time. I did order a signature coffee latte. I was greeted by the sweetest woman who was single handedly operating the shop. She rang me up and went to the back to craft my drink. I heard this shop gets packed so I was pleased with receiving my drink before there was a crowd in the mall. The coffee latte had a pleasant flavor. Not too strong, not too sweet. Quite enjoyable. I'm looking forward to coming back to try more on the menu, especially some mochi. read more

Instead of the usual chewy rice-based mochi, warabimochi is made with bracken starch, giving it a silky, jelly-like texture that melts in your mouth. I really like this place. Friendly and courteous staff. Amazing strawberry matcha latte that have perfectly pillowy mochi instead of the typical boba. Located inside the mall in the food court. S litter on the the small side in serving I suggest placing a bell at cashier so staff knows when customers are waiting. read more

This is located in the food court of the mall. It is right across from Hot Topic. From ordering to getting our drinks, it took about 10 minutes. (I was able to make a return, tag team w my husband, he went to the bathroom, and we still didn't get our drinks. Lolll) I got a large hojicha w oat milk and it was... just okay. I loveeeee hojicha and this fell flat for me. The drink was very watered down with very low flavor -- of both the hojicha and the oat milk, so it mostly tasted like lightly essenced tea water? My husband got matcha and it was better! But will I be coming back for $20 drinks? Probably not... sorry! Oh god what an overpriced and overhyped place this was. A kiosk in the middle of the mall with no seating area immediately available. Quite a vibe! Long line just to get a 5-pc warabimochi for more than $10. The mochi itself was cut too big and kuromitsu too viscous. I would have cut each pieces into half the sizes. The syrup kept beading and rolling right off of the mochi. Super annoying! Would I return if I am visiting the area again? No. It's just not worth it. The product itself is essentially boiled starch balls. It takes very little to no effort to make them. It's certainly not something I would be willing to pay $10 for 5pc for in a mall food court again. read more
