I've never had authentic Indian food before but this place had been constantly celebrated on the SGV eats Facebook page. I when I was finally in the area, I decided to investigate for myself. When I first walked in, the place was not that big and a patron who was picking up his order noticed me looking around and asked if I had ever had their food before. I said no that's why I was there and he said you can't go wrong with anything you get here, and that their food was really great. Already being led here for that exact reason, really amped up my need to experience it for myself. Once the employee was done with the customer, his attention went to me and helped me order one of their lunch specials, since I had no clue what I was going to get since I was not familiar with any Indian dishes at all. As with all small business purchases, I left a 20% tip and a curt thank you. Not wanting to wait till I got to some nearby park to eat, I just pulled over in a shady parking spot not far from the restaurant and opened it up. The tremendous smell of spices and heat hit my nose the minute I did this. The naan bread was wrapped in foil which made it extremely hot to the touch, which was great for maximum freshness. Wasn't sure if it was for dipping or not since I wasn't familiar with Indian food customs so I improvised. The chicken korma, which what my dish was called was absolutely phenomenal! So many spices! It tasted so fresh! And even the vegetable side which was mushrooms and peas (honestly not my two favorite vegetables) were quickly wolfed down, as they were cooked perfectly. Got to say I was very impressed by this place and I hope that others who have heard about its hype will soon experience it also! read more

*Based off Covid-19 experience* Wow, this was the best Indian food I've *ever* had. Before we get to the food review, this restaurant is a family owned business! The mom and dad are the cooks and the son, Harji, is the waiter. Harji helped us choose dishes that accommodated to the flavor profiles my family as a collective likes to eat. So, so helpful! Now onto the good part... the FOOD. I typically eat more of a pescatarian, dairy free diet, and I had no issues at all ordering here even with my diet restrictions. My family and I ordered the tandoori chicken, mixed vegetable curry (vegan), coconut fish curry, goat curry, vegetable Samosas, mushroom Briyani, and garlic naan. The tandoori chicken is served on a sizzling platter and is one of their best sellers. This makes sense because it was sooo fresh. I will note that the portions aren't huge, but it is still extremely filling. So I would suggest ordering 5-6 dishes if you're eating with a bigger party. All I can say is that I'm pretty sure if you ordered anything off the menu it would be good. The food, the experience, the service were amazing! Nirvana offers weekday (Tuesday to Friday from 11 AM to 2:30 PM) lunch buffet & weekend (Saturday to Sunday from 12 PM to 3 PM) champagne brunch buffet with naan and free champagne / sodas / ice tea / Indian tea / lemonade. Nirvana posts their buffet menu on their Facebook page everyday (https://www.facebook.com/nirvana.arcadia/). For dinner, there are over 90+ different items to choose from (salads, curry, tikka masala, tandoori chicken, korma, various naan, biryani, etc). Don't forget to use the Yelp check in-deal (spend $20 and get $5 off) because our party forgot to use the check-in offer. While you enjoy your delicious Indian food, you can also watch some pretty interesting Bollywood music videos. Been here twice. (2011 and 2013 with the new management) Didn't like our meal at all back in 2011 and never came back. My friend who went with me back then said she'd never come back! 2 years later, decided to give it another shot. (minus one friend) We had their Lunch Buffet which is $8.95 (Mon-Fri). During the weekend it's $11.95. There were 3 of us who ate the buffet (one of whom is of Indian decent). Among the 3 of, we concluded that the food wasn't the greatest and wasn't worth a return trip. I thought the variety and flavor wasn't there and the chicken was tough. The buffet set up was a little awkward as well since there were two rows of trays and you had to take the lid off and weren't able to set it anywhere. Service was just okay. read more

Service here is excellent-- our waitress was so friendly and she mingled with some of the customers and gave everyone what they needed. Between two girls, we had samosas, garlic naan, shrimp masala, and the bengan bhartha (roasted eggplant cooked curry style with tomatoes). Feeling not quite full, we had another order of regular naan which really pushed us over the limit. Samosas-- Not the best, but pretty good. Their chutney had quite a kick and I was addicted to it. Garlic Naan-- Better than regular naan but a bit oily. Not as garlicky for those who like to breathe on other people. Shrimp Masala-- Loved the flavor and there were a few medium shrimps in there but it was an ok dish overall. Bengan Bhartha-- The eggplant was good and you really couldn't tell what it was until you tasted it. This was very nice but got very repetitive by the end of the meal. Overall, medium spice was pretty mild to me but my friend felt it was a bit hot since she doesn't normally eat spicy foods. A group of friends and I recently visited Nirvana after hearing about it from one of our colleagues. Upon entering the restaurant, we were immediately greeted with smiles and welcoming service. Our server, Joziah, was fantastic. He recommended the vegetable samosas, and boy was it a great recommendation! The samosas were cooked to perfection and paired very well with the two sauces provided on the table. We also ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, and Garlic Naan. All three items were delectable, with the group favorite being the tikka masala. Our server was great at making sure we were comfortable, hydrated, and satisfied. The check-out process was quick and simple, which is always a plus. Our group ate pretty late at night, and we left a couple minutes after the posted closing time. Despite this, we didn't feel rushed one bit, and we felt we were given the proper amount of time to enjoy the fantastic meal. Overall, an 11/10 experience. The food and service were spectacular. The first time I went the waiter was very helpful and recommended me a dish based on some questions he asked me to know what do I like and I the dish was exactly what I expected (Korma Entree- Lamb) if you're looking for a really good Indian dish I would recommend that one we also like "Tikki Masala" and "Vindaloo" but everything is really good. We ordered the Tandoori paratha, garlic naan, samosas, tandoori chicken, chicken Tikka marsala, shrimp saag and one order of rice. Everything was very delicious. My family all love the saag... Not necessarily the shrimp but the sauce was very yummy. The Tandoori chicken came out sizzling. The garlic naan was a lot better than the tandoori paratha. The Tikka marsala was sweet just the way I like it except I didn't like the chicken cubes. Wished they'd make it in dark meat lol. I'll definitely be back. Service was good. So I stopped in on my lunch break to get some food to go. Never tried it so was pretty stoked with all the good reviews here . On the window they have the menu displayed and I wanted to go for the lunch special which was $7.99 or $9.99 I can't recall . I go inside and the waiter seats me, I tell him this is a to go order I tell him I want to order the vegetable curry special. He then looks at me and tells me ,oh we don't have those specials anymore! I told him but it's displayed in your window and it's displayed on your menu here inside the restaurant on the table??? He said you have to order everything separate, grrrrrr !!! OK that defeats the purpose of me going to the restaurant in trying out their lunch special, specially since I've never been here before I wanted to try out the food and not get a big order of it. He said don't worry it's enough for two people, but again it's just for myself . He recommends the vegetable curry $11.99 that I wanted to get ,I ordered it mild then he pointed out for five dollars more you can get regular nan and white rice. So I had to pay $11.99 for a medium container of vegetable curry it had no sides and no drink???? I probably should've just got up and said no thank you, but I was starving and I didn't want to eat fast food. He said it would be done in 15 minutes then he charged me $18 for a container of white bland no flavored dried out basmati rice And a container of the saddest vegetable curry I've ever eaten, it tasted like they just took out frozen vegetables out of a packet and threw in a curry sauce and had no flavor no spiciness it wasn't even mild . They gave me one piece of nan cut in half wrapped up in foil, which was flavorless too. I took my food to go I ate outside in the patio next-door . I was completely disappointed . I usually love vegetable curry and I eat up the nan & rice quickly but this was just hard to stomach. Literally my stomach hurt after 20 minutes of eating the food . Grrrrrrr And I paid $18 for myself for lunch with no drink!!! I could've went and got a better meal for half of the price somewhere else so I was pretty bummed and let down by the food and pretty upset with the price that I paid for it also.
