We were in a rush, however, the service was quick, the staff were friendly, and it was only a 10 minute walk to the theaters. The gnocchi was a must order and the truffle mushroom pizza was perfect. Was really looking forward to checking out their gluten free foods after hearing about it and having had the chance to catch a show on Broadway. It was cute and the staff was nice and they get big props for an entire gluten free menu and also because the host asked right away if we'd like one. The food itself, however was meh. We tried the calamari appetizer which was covered in a too thick, clumpy and awful breading they missed the mark with this. I've had significantly better gluten free fried calamari elsewhere. The marinara that comes with it however was a delight! It was the perfect amount and had a lot of great flavor! I also appreciated that they mixed in some zucchini and hot peppers so my guy could have something too ( he hates fish) which was unique. We shared a meatball pizza and it wasn't great compared to Keste's version. But the sausage flavor was outstanding and they gave nice chunks of it. I wish they'd work on the crust- if they van fix that we'd be back again and again for sure! It didn't feel cooked enough or something. The size was just right and so was the price for it. We also had the steak salad which I didn't love. The steak was hard to cut and it was too vinegary for my taste. I love it when places have gluten free bread and they do. But it was also too thick and doughy for me. The herbed olive oil was very good, but I'd like some aged balsamic To go with it. We had the cheesecake for dessert which was perfectly yummy. It was surprisingly packed even early on a Wednesday evening so reservations are highly suggested whenever you do go. Also- even with basically every table full inside and out, the bathrooms were spotless- which is a very, very good sign! Please work on your bread, breading and pizza recipes for gluten free folks and if so, this could easily be a 5 star place!! An absolute gem, and a great discovery in the theater district! I attended a birthday brunch at Nizza this past weekend, and it was a wonderful experience all around. We had a great table. The restaurant seemed very clean with a lovely design and a chic ambiance. The food was divine, and the staff was incredibly kind and gracious. I had the excellent calamari and the creamy polenta and eggs, which couldn't have been more perfect. Tasty buuuut something was missing... I'm not a chef, but my tingly senses on my tongue were looking for a missing ingredient that could've as well been just salt. The Gnocchi's were pretty good since it had the cheese to add in some flavor, but still missing the salt. For the pappardelle genovese, it was good but dry. We did request some additional sauce on the side which helped moisten and enrich the plate a bit. We also got the Mushroom pizza which was the winner plate of the night! The chicken was juicy on inside and crispy on outside. Panzanella salad was flavorful with onions, cucumbers, tomatoes and croutons. Wow. Where do I even begin. When I walked in they started by asking if anyone needed a gluten free menu (which I did) so that was amazing. Also the manager checked in a few times through the meal. The service was 10/10, the restaurant was so cute with great music and vibes. The food was probably one of the best meals I've had in my life. My friend who isn't gluten free and shared all my gluten free food said that it was better then most non gluten free Italian food she's had. Everything we ate just kept getting better. a few things to consider: the service here is very good, the waiters were attentive and the food came out fast. our waitress was very pleasant. the food was almost bad. it was certainly edible. the bread was good, a little dry, for an italian restaurant i would expect better bread (it is free though) i got the mafaldine, which is summer squash pasta w/ mint pesto and pine nuts. i could not taste the pesto or the mint at all, the only indication it was the right dish was the color. it really just tasted like very oily/greasy pasta. the pine nuts were a very nice textural element, but in order for my food to have any flavor at all i had to douse it in chili flakes. my friends all enjoyed their meals, but i cannot say the same for mine. it seems very hit or miss. i tried the gluten free margherita pizza, which was decent (although the crust tasted storebough). the regular one looked very good. the cocktails were also hit or miss, there was a special elderflower spritz that was very good. the peach bellini was smooth but had no real flavor; the elderflower drink tasted more like peaches than the bellini did. overall, for the price you should look elsewhere for good italian food. save for the pizzas and one of the chicken dishes, everything was a single serving. in my opinion, this is not worth your money. read more

The girl serving us was very friendly, seemed nicely chatty and also helped us moving out stuff from one table to an other when the sun was getting too intense for us. The photos look incredible, but the food doesn't live up to the hype. We started off with the burrata, which was the star of the night. Soft, creamy burrata, nice pesto and pepper accompaniment, and delicious focaccia. The margherita pizza was okay - very doughy - but the two entrees we had were both huge letdowns. The gnocchi was soft, mushy, and relatively bland despite looking nice with the charred cheese on top, and the rigatoni ala vodka was a bit too al dente (coming from someone who likes al dente) and had just a taste that something was a bit off - so the burrata and pizza ended up being the bulk of our meal. Live in the neighborhood and have been many times. This time taking out of town quests. The food is always okay... nothing extraordinary. One major complaint. We weren't even halfway through our appetizers and our entrees arrive creating a table scape of many plates on the table. Suddenly we're rushing to finish our appetizers so we can get to the entrees while our appetizer plates remain on the table for a ridiculous length of time creating a mess. The only thing this does to a diner is send a clear message that we're trying to get you out of our establishment as soon as possible. I was super hungry and pretty much vacuumed my branzino and meatballs. ;) As one can tell by the name, Nizza is a standard Italian place that specializes in pizza. I appreciate the fact that Nizza is a place for everyone. For example, the dress code of diners ranged from simple T-shirts and jeans to business suits. First, I have gotta say that the staff was amazing, especially our waitress Hope. She was pretty much on top of everything and handled the issue with one of our dining partners' dish very well. Note: the issue with the dish had nothing to do with Nizza. Unfortunately, I did not catch the names of our bartender and the manager, but they were very funny, entertaining, and friendly. We all enjoyed our meals and (more importantly) our cocktails. I definitely will visit Nizza if I'm looking for easy-breezy Italian options in Hell's Kitchen. read more

Have been to this restaurant before for brunch and loved it. This time we went for their gluten free menu and were not disappointed! The food was great, the service excellent and we absolutely loved the outdoor seating arrangement ! They have tables outside with heat lamps above , which actually keep you very warm and comfortable, even on an exceptionally cold day like today . The outside seating is not like other places where you essentially are outdoors but it is all enclosed , which in my mind defeats the whole purpose ! This is outdoors , with air flowing and effective heat. It was perfect! Yesterday kicked off my favorite time of the year - Summer Restaurant Week. To open up my 2021 Restaurant Week binge, I made my way to Nizza, located on 9th Ave in Midtown, Manhattan. Their Restaurant Week menu features a $21 pre-fixe which includes an appetizer (either a soup or salad) and your choice of main course between 8 different homemade pasta dishes. The highlight of the meal for me was their Cacio e Pepe (spaghetti with butter, olive oil, parmesan, pecorino and lots of black pepper. Well balanced, light and tasty. I have to say previous experiences were for lunch or brunch and generally pretty average, the food was decent though didn't stand out especially. Recent orders were pretty decent so I rounded up. The food reminded me of something one's Italian aunt might make--I'm not Italian but comparing it to when a friend's Italian mom cooked up a storm. Orders the past few weeks: 1) chicken parmigiana: can't really go wrong with this, good serving size and glad that chicken was moist and tender, not dry. Shareable for two petite people. The tomato sauce is delicious. 2) the Sun/Mon night special $48--pasta and chianti for two. It came with a full sized salad for splitting, rigatoni in sauce with two nonna's meatballs, two sausages, topped with ricotta and mixed in a tasty Pomodoro tomato/olive oil sauce. Also two small cannolis. The food was enough for me to save a third of the pasta for lunch the next day. The Italian salad consisted of fresh cherry tomatoes, shavings of fennel, cucumber, red onions, and olives over iceberg lettuce. The rigatoni was hearty, home style cooking, very satisfying though admittedly on the heavier side. Pretty good experience with recent orders and would do takeout again. read more
