A nice quiet spot to enjoy a tasty meal! We happened upon NM Cafe located on the 3rd level Of Neiman Marcus. We decided to see if tables were available and lucky us-They were! We opted for salmon tacos acid and a soup/salad combo. Our server, Robert, was attentive and friendly. He started us with the biggest popovers I have seen! A side of strawberry butter and warm chicken broth rounded out our pre dining nibbles. The salmon tacos (2) were served with chips and salsa. The salmon was a large meaty piece and the cilantro and jalapeno toppings made for a very flavorful dish. The chicken tortilla soup was full of shredded chicken and cheese. Hearty and tasty! The chicken salad sandwich was perfectly done and a great accompaniment to the soup.

Our reservations at a rooftop restaurant at a local store took too long, so my husband and I decided to dine in at Neiman Marcus (NM) Cafe instead. What a great experience! Our server, Atul, was responsive, kind, and attentive to our needs. Nice job, Atul! I noticed that there are items shown on Yelp that didn't appear on the February 20, 2025 menu. I am not sure how often the menu changes. We started off with an airy popover and strawberry butter--yum! NM Cafe also brings out a delicious chicken broth to sip. What a surprise that was! We shared truffle fries before our main courses. The fries were crispy, salty, and had the right about truffle oil. I am a fan of thin, shoestring French fries, so these were perfect for me. I got the NM sampler which consists of half a sandwich, soup, and a salad. I got chicken tortilla soup, and I thought it was great! The sandwich and salad were also tasty. Perfect portion sizes, too! My husband got a burger which he enjoyed. We skipped dessert this time around, but Atul brought us small milk chocolate candy square to enjoy. I had a great experience here, and I can't wait to come back!

Oh how I miss Neiman Marcus In WC.... Enjoyed brunch at NM Cafe in Palo Alto (SF has the best cafe- the Rotunda). I sat at the bar with no wait (reservations sold out) and had the best service! Treated myself to some and a great meal of blackened Salmon tacos. Huge chunks of fresh seasoned salmon with avocado cabbage jalepeno and crema. Served with chips and salsa! Of course I first enjoyed the complimentary consommé and popover with strawberry butter! Perfection!

Quality food with great service. No wait with reservation. The waiter kept adding chicken consume for us (for free) ;)

The special bread they serve was really good and the rest of the food is ok nothing special. The service was fast and seated right away. Its nice location while shopping around NM

Found a nice, cozy and quiet place to eat at Stanford Mall. It's just a small cafe at the third floor of Neiman Marcus but it's packed with decent food choices from their menu. First time I went there, I got the Scallops Risotto. The scallops were nicely cooked and tasted good, enough saltiness. The risotto rice compliments the salty taste of the scallops too. If you're hungry, this is a decent big enough plate to satisfy your hunger. It is pricey for a plate of meal ($40), but decent price for the quality and type of food. Second time was yesterday and I got the Chicken Paillard. It was a healthy plate of chicken and vegetables, but flavorful and satisfying. I finished the whole plate. This is $27 and it's worth it. They serve warm bread and strawberry butter while waiting for your food. The staff are accommodating and the service is at a decent pace. The chairs are nice and comfy. Tables are seated a bit close to each other so it might feel cramped if it's a busy day. But so far on a Tuesday or Thursday lunch time there are tables and not too packed. Budget is around $40 - $50 per meal including a drink, tax, and tip.

    The soiled coat

I used to be a big fan. On 12/14, I brought a bunch of relatives in again. During our lunch, one waiter spilled other people's broth soup on my cashmere coat and my husband's jacket. The manager came around after I complained to the MAÎTRE D'. I told him about the incident; he explained that the waiter maybe working two jobs. I explained that I am not blaming the waiter, just want the restaurant to foot my dry-cleaning bills for the coat. He agreed. On 12/31, I emailed the restaurant the dry-cleaning receipt. Other than an acknowledgement of the email, I have not received any resolution. The service is unfortunately not par to what I have come to expect of the restaurant that we loved for many years. I hope the matter is resolved quickly as the manager promised.

The NM cafe is well managed The servants are v welcoming and assist with any menu question. The portion of the seafood pasta for some reason got downsized and price still the same $42 They do have a ritual to serve you once seated Chicken broth and some puffy brioche bread-you can ask for more than one for free-

Love the popovers and the chicken salad and the chicken broth. Also had the fries they were like steak fries and they had a seasoning that was like Red Robin's. The service was slow and took forever to get the check but the server of the popovers and broth was great! The restaurant was nice there is a bar and you can watch the game.

Food was decadent! The strawberry butter + popover combo is classic and hit my childhood memories hard. I really enjoyed the sweetness that the in house focaccia bread brought to my sandwich. It balanced out the savory steak and brie perfectly. Scallops were superbly seared as always. Service was great but a bit slow due to how busy it was which was understandable. Despite being near the shopping area without a window or wall separating us, the ambiance was still cozy and felt quite private. Overall, this place was a little pricey but I'd still come again for special occasions!

By the visuals alone outside and inside the restaurant, we knew it's going to be such a wonderful experience for us. We ordered a few items to share and each were spectacular. The shrimp salad in particular contained perfectly cooked shrimp (although there weren't many) tossed in the right amount of sauce. The grilled asparagus were delightfully sweet and smokey. The smoked salmon dip paired with pickles were just the right amount of savory, spicy, and sour. Ambience: very greenhouse vibes. The interior had many live walls (walls filled with viney plants), and ceiling decor of plants as well. Along the restaurant was a long line of monsteras, scattered with fiddle leaf plants throughout. Love how "fresh" it made the restaurant feel. Given their different menus I different times, would definitely try to come back and try their dinner menu. Price: food arrives in small plates (for sharing). A bit on the expensive side for the small plates. However, the taste of each dish is exceptional.

We decided to do a walk in since the bar seating is first come first serve. Inside the restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the staff were so incredibly friendly and kind! We only had to wait about 30 mins and the front desk did an amazing job updating us on the status of our wait. While we were waiting, the manager of the restaurant gave us sparkling wine on the house because he felt bad we had to wait, which we thought was such a thoughtful gesture! We chose this place to celebrate our anniversary and although it was a little bit of wait, the service here already made it worth it. As for the food, we ordered the oysters, milk bread, kampachi, sugar snap peas, tuna on koshikari rice, dry aged duck, and the black cod. The food was absolutely delicious! The duck was probably the only item on our order that we would skip out on next time, but everything else we would definitely get again. The oysters were our favorite item that we ordered! It was topped with an aerated ponzu sauce with a celery oil(?) and that was amazing. Definitely recommend the oysters. Ended the night with some dessert recommended by the bartender, the pistachio financier. It was such a nice, warm dessert and a delicious way to end the meal. The Hokkaido milk custard with the pastry was a great combo, and I would highly recommend to end the meal with this dessert. We got the sesame pancake with trout, coconut salmon fritters, yellowtail tuna on Koshihikari rice, and crispy blue shrimp. 1. Sesame pancake with trout: the pancake was incredibly dry, like eating an old sponge. It came with a smoked trout dip that tasted very basic and was paired with avocado and yuzu, but the flavors completely clashed. The yuzu was practically nonexistent. This dish was just sad. 2. Coconut salmon fritters: these were good, but honestly they tasted almost identical to a Vietnamese dish called bánh ít trần. Even the fish-sauce flavored salmon reminded me of it. Tasty? Kinda. Memorable or unique? Not at all. 3. Yellowtail tuna on Koshihikari rice: it was okay, but it's literally just fish on top of rice. There wasn't much else going on. (at least the fish was fresh). 4. Crispy blue shrimp: another disappointing dish. It was basically shrimp tempura with a fancy name, except we paid $34 for it. At that price point, we're expecting umami, delicate crispy shrimp, not something you can find almost anywhere else. I'll give 1 star for the excellent service and another star for the amazing drinks. The food, however, felt overpriced, uninspired, and lacking any standout flavors. We left feeling more disappointed than impressed.

The highlight of the evening was the milk jam pudding which was a lighter way to finish off a rather heavy and bold-flavored dinner. ~$110/head after tax and gratuity.

I ordered take out from a very friendly and niece Asian lady, but she had a very thick accent. I only mentioned the accent because I guess she didn't comprehend what I was saying. I wanted to ordered scrambled eggs on my Salmon Benedict, so my 3 year old nice and 1 year old nephew could share and eat the same things as my Aunt (their Grandma) and I were going to eat. I looked over the receipt and saw I was charged $7 for scrambled eggs! At least within my take out bag, was also the two poached eggs, so my Aunt ate those, but I didn't want the poached eggs, I merely wanted scrambled eggs on top of my egged Benedict, that way my niece and nephew cold eat them, too. Ugh- oh well, we got extra eggs for tomorrow or another meal! Hee. Overall my smoked salmon was mouthwatering delicious! My nice LOVED her mini mouse pancakes! My Aunt loved her Frisco scramble and everything was fine, minus me getting charged $7 for a "side" of scrambled eggs I didn't realize I was ordering.....

I think it's outdoor dining only. It is a cute place and I loved the purple flowers hanging down from the ceiling. I ordered Tofu omelette with rainbow potatoes and bread ciabatta. Omelette was pretty bland and I just used Tabasco to add some flavor. Loved the butter on the bread, it was lightly sweet. I also ordered Into the Forest Drink with Cute Bear. Delicious and cute. Unfortunately my husband found a piece of long hair in his eggs. We informed the waitress and she offered a new plate right away. I like that you can bring your dogs too. I saw a few customers with their small dogs. I'd be open to try a different dish next time. Hopefully with my puppy!

Parking is available in the private lot or on nearby residential streets. Dining is available either inside the dining room, at the bar, or outdoors on the covered patio. Flea Street is featured in the Michelin guide. Our waitress was phenomenal the entire evening, being very sweet and attentive. She was quite talented too! ;) Meal started off with the complimentary biscuit, served with a side of beautiful butter, salt, as well as a piece of carrot. This was decent as the biscuit was merely lukewarm. The lamb chop as a snack was quite tasty. These were sold per piece and cooked to a perfect medium rare. The farmers salad, dungeness crab cake, as well as the cured trout small plates were all quite tasty. Loved how premium and light the farmer's salad was. The dungeness crab cake was super light and tasty too! The cured trout was excellent with the homemade potato chips! The cioppino was gigantic and perfect for sharing. It featured a ton of premium seafood, from clams, mussels, calamari, shrimp, as well as a couple pieces of black cod fish along with a few pieces of toasted bread! Finished off the meal with an apple galette which was tasty and served with a scoop of ice cream which was surprisingly a touch lacklustre... The meal ended off with a couple chocolate dipped strawberries. ~$130/head after 20% service charge and 3% employer benefits surcharge.

But once you get upstairs the food completely steals the show. We came here for our anniversary without any real expectations for the food. Honestly, we thought the atmosphere would be the highlight. We were wrong! The food absolutely blew us away. We ordered the bluefin toro caviar carpaccio, the grilled shrimp & veggie salad, and the whole French roasted chicken with a side of potato puree. Everything was delicious, but the shrimp salad was easily my favorite dish of the night. I'm still thinking about that salad as I'm writing this. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, the grilled vegetables were flavorful, and everything came together so well. The ambiance was also fantastic. Each table had its own chandelier, which made the space feel elegant and special. It felt fancy without being overly formal. Service was attentive, the setting was beautiful, and the food exceeded every expectation we had. What started as a dinner reservation for our anniversary turned into one of the most memorable meals we've had in a long time. We'll definitely be back and yes I'll be ordering that shrimp salad again!

After checking in, we were informed that the entire party had to be present before we could be seated. While waiting, I ordered a drink at the bar and enjoyed the beautiful rooftop terrace. The deep cushioned seating, combined with views of Stanford University, the Woodside hills, and the surrounding skyline, created a memorable setting for a special occasion. The dining room is airy, elegant, and thoughtfully designed. The glass roof allows plenty of natural light without the harsh glare, making the space comfortable and inviting. The menu is fairly straightforward and not particularly unique, though prices are definitely premium. Sandwiches range from about $24 to $58, and the mini lobster or crab rolls are $20 each. For our group of five, we ordered three lobster rolls, lamb chops, two Caesar salads, two orders of oysters, honey-glazed salmon, sweet potatoes, truffle fries, a gem salad, and several drinks and glasses of wine. Unfortunately, neither the kitchen nor the table service lived up to expectations. Our starters arrived, followed by most of the entrees, but the kitchen completely forgot both Caesar salads. We asked about them twice. By the time they finally arrived, the salads were soggy and lacked the freshness you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. RH Rooftop delivers a stunning setting and is an undeniably beautiful place for a celebration. However, for a restaurant positioned as a luxury dining experience, I expected the food and service to match the spectacular surroundings. While everything looked impressive, the meal itself felt average and the service lacked the attention to detail expected at this price point. In the end, I left feeling that I had paid for the atmosphere rather than the dining experience.
