For this review, I used my Nordstrom Icon benefits. I called membership and booked through them. This is not the first time I used this benefit. This time, I'm trying out Bazille. The hostess knew I was here for Nordstrom Icon benefits and we had a very nice table for party of two. Here's what we ordered: Truffle fries French onion soup Chimichurri skirt steak Mushroom ravioli Crème brûlée Sundae with brownie Berry ginger smash Lilac frizz I also ordered a few more items for to go. To my surprise, food was pretty delicious. My sister complimented on the mushroom ravioli how the portion of mushroom and cheese were balanced. Out of all the raviolis she had, she said this made the top 3 on her list. I loved my order, Chimichurri skirt steak. Perfectly seasoned. My sister and I felt taken care of by our server. Excellent service and attentive. The restaurant got really busy and I'm surprised it's a full house for lunch! I'd stop by again, even without using my Icon benefits. read more

This is a very convenient restaurant if you're hungry and shopping at Nordstrom. We enjoyed our meal, but our biggest thing was the service. Our waiter was nice but it took a bit to order, have our waters refilled, and the food to a very long time to come. I think that was the part that was tough. We went on Mother's Day for lunch and we didn't realize our reservation at 12:30 pm was when they opened. So we were hungry and got some soup to start. We really enjoyed the crab bisque and would get again. We finished that quickly, but our food took a very long time. We were hungry and wanted to almost order more apps, but we weren't sure if it would take a long time as well. Our food finally came, first the fish and chips and then the pizza. They gave it to us separately since we were sharing and hungry and the fish and chips were ready first. I would probably skip the fish and chips next time. We also got it as truffle Parmesan fries which is $4 extra and we wouldn't do this again as we didn't taste much of a difference and even asked the waiter if they were truffle fries. The pizza came and it was delicious! It was very hot when it first came but we said we'd get it again. Overall, be ready to wait a long time, but we enjoyed our meal with the soup and pizza. Bazille at Nordstrom is a great choice for lunch/dinner while shopping at the mall. The restaurant is big, open concept and always clean. It's not too loud and the service is always great. Hey there Party People I had no idea that there was a restaurant in Nordstrom....I was pleasantly surprised. We had a large group and our waiter was on top of every thing did an excellent job. A few of us ordered the French onion soup. The flavor was on point it wasn't a salt bomb, which happens allot with this type of soup. But they killed it with the flavor and thick Gruyère cheese. They used a sourdough bread that stayed crisp adding a great texture to the soup. We had ordered a few salads. You picked the type salad greens then picked your protein. Giving many options to be creative and really customize your salad experience. One of the guests order a steak. It was cooked perfectly having a fabulous flavor. We also tried the French dip sandwich. The meat was moist having almost no fat which was a welcome surprise. If I'm at the mall I'm definitely going there again. Be kind to one another read more

This is the restaurant on the top floor of Nordstrom's at Stanford Shopping Center. It is lovely and the staff very accommodating and friendly. (As an aside, I think very highly of the Palo Alto/Menlo Park area. People and places are exceptional.) Large menu from which to select your meal. The food was tasty, and presented well. Large portions. Good service. Dessert was recommended, and because we had lots of time, the recommendation was accepted. A hot fudge brownie was served and it was amazing. I'm sure desserts change, but this one is highly recommended by staff and by me. read more

It's my comfort food place and a restaurant that's tucked away on the highest floor at most Nordstroms. It's mostly food that you probably end up eating after going golfing or something. I have a soft spot for a nice club sandwich with french onion soup (FOS), tomato soup, or crab/lobster bisque. I also like thin shoestring fries a lot. They always get served hot and fresh. The club sandwich always has this nice aroma like from fresh herbs that really gets the appetite going. Their white chocolate bread pudding is/was one of the best, I added was because back then the portion was heck of a lot bigger. Now it's just a shell of its former self, I guess it still tastes ok but that portion hit was pretty significant. Also, they were serving something weird called "the best part of French onion soup" which was a modified version to only serve the bread, cheese, and very small traces of soup. It was weird, like why do this? We weren't in a soup shortage or something were we? Either way I'm glad their FOS is back to its regular style, please don't do that again. read more

Was looking for new places to dine in around the Stanford Shopping Mall and found this hidden gem. Bazille is a casual American restaurant located inside Nordstrom on the third floor. Ambiance was dark, kind of makes you forget that you're in Nordstrom. Service was very kind and fast, always checked if we were good and if we needed anything else. Food itself was quite decent. Calamari had a perfect crisp and I loved how unique the Jalapeño aioli sauce was instead of a regular marinara sauce. The peppers added a nice kick and sweetness to the salty and savory dish. The French dip was great in size. Nothing special besides the Au Ju adding a juicy sensation to the sandwich. Caesar salad was tossed nicely and refreshing after such savory dishes. We also had the Truffle Mushroom Pizza. The truffle was a bit overpowering but I love how light and thin the dough was. Last but not least we had to try the crème brûlée. An all time classic dessert dish, didn't disappoint one bit however the raspberries had a bit of mold in it lol. Overall it was a decent casual dining experience! Price was reasonable for the portions and I enjoy a discreet location, however I don't think this is a restaurant I'll go out of my way to crave. Still a good try. Disappointing experience. We used to go here often many years ago and always neither the lobster bisque. We decided to go back and we ordered the what is now crab bisque and their new hot honey chicken sandwich. Crab bisque was salty and had no chunks of crab in it. The hot honey chicken sandwich was so bland and then by the time I figured out they completely left off the hot honey, I was already almost done with it. When I told the server, he just said "oh they must have forgotten.. sorry" and then didn't even proceed to tell them. I asked for a side of hot honey and put it on my last few bites and even then, not that good. This place used to be better read more

Located on the 3rd floor of Nordstrom, this used to be called the Cafe Bistro (the receipt still says that) but it's now Bazille. The offerings are on par with what you'd get at a sit down place in a mall that is not the food court. Some pasta dishes, some steaks, mostly comfort food that they try to elevate. Service is pretty ordinary, the staff seems like they are there on forced volunteer work. Not very friendly and they miss details. But not the worst. We got the cilantro lime chicken tacos as appetizers and the crab bisque bowl. The tacos were ok, the crab bisque a little better but mostly cause it was richer. For the mains we got the mushroom ravioli, halibut fish and chips, and crab mac and cheese. They were all your run of the mill versions of those dishes. Ranging from $18 for the ravioli to $27 for the fish and chips. I think you're paying a premium for the service and ambiance, but both seem rather lacking so it's hard to justify that premium for pedestrian versions of these dishes. I really liked the crab mac n cheese, but again mostly cause it is rich and what's not to like about mac n cheese. On the plus side, it's quiet (I don't think many people venture there anymore with all the other choices Stanford mall has to offer) and quiet spacious so even if there is a crowd you can probably find a spot away from the crowds. So it offers more of respite from shopping compared to other dining options in the mall. If someone wanted to go there, I would not object, but I would never choose to go back of my own accord. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant right from the moment we walked in. I was with my wife and adult daughter, and before we were even seated, the young male host asked us if we needed a kids menu. Seriously? My daughter is clearly an adult, and the question was not only inappropriate but came off as rude and condescending. It was an unprofessional and disrespectful first impression that soured the entire visit for us. We didn't feel welcome, and quite frankly, we didn't feel respected. If this is the standard for how guests are greeted, I won't be returning -- and I wouldn't recommend it to others either. Management should really consider training staff to think before they speak. read more

Ordered a soup and a very simple salad, ended up waiting about 40 minutes. This is with the restaurant being about half full so it was not particularly busy. The soup as well as the salad were nothing special. I would put it a notch above the soup and salads at Safeway. If you want some mediocre food and do not care about your time, this is your place. read more

Bazille is a restaurant in Nordstrom on the 3rd floor. I had a return and decided to come by for a quick snack since I had an early brunch. The appetizers looked good but French fries with fried fish soundedbbetter and a craving for gnocchi had us also ordering a plate gnocchi with chicken meatballs. Surprisingly good! Friendly employees, some more than others so you would come back. Some servers just don't understand that if they were nice, even if the food wasn't great or if it's overpriced, you would come back out of convenience because it's a friendly place. Our booth was comfy and our soda was refilled. Skinny French fries as good as McDonald's. We did have to ask for ketchup. Fried fish was ok and slaw was good. Gnocchi had a great texture. Chicken meatballs were light. A good change from regular meatballs and the sauce had a good flavor. This was a good dish. I would check the menu before coming back. If they had sweet and low for my ice tea, they only had Splenda, I would be more likely to come back during the warm months because I love relaxing after shopping with an iced tea and appetizers. They also had 3 different types of soup, I would order if I wasn't sharing with a friend. read more

I have enjoyed visiting Bazille at Nordstrom in Palo Alto on many occasions, but unfortunately, this past weekend's visit left me disappointed on multiple fronts, from food quality to service and management. We arrived at the restaurant around 4 pm when it was nearly empty. Our order was taken promptly, and water was served--though it would have been courteous to ask if we wanted bread. After placing our order, we waited for 30 minutes, during which time three other tables, all seated after us, received their food and were halfway through their meals. It took another 10 minutes before my 7-year-old daughter's meal arrived, while my dish was still nowhere in sight. She was halfway through eating before my steak salad was finally served. The steak was overcooked, completely ruining the quality of the dish. When I sent it back, the "assistant manager" informed me that it would "take a while" to make a new one. There were no offers of bread, soup, or any other substitute to make up for the wait, which added to the frustration. Steak, especially at a $30 price point, should be prepared correctly, and overcooking it strips away any appeal or quality the dish may have had. Adding insult to injury, the assistant manager took my phone number, explaining that a manager would call to discuss the situation since the actual manager was not present. To date, I have not received any follow-up communication. This experience was entirely unacceptable. When a restaurant charges premium prices, the service, food quality, and management must reflect that. Sadly, Bazille fell short on all counts, and the lack of communication afterward further cemented my disappointment. read more

Very delicious restaurant that has changed throughout the years. This restaurant was formally known as Nordstrom Cafe then Bistro Cafe now known as Bazille. I haven't been here in many years; the last time I was here was in the early 2000's when it was known as Nordstrom Cafe. Bazille is located still at Nordstrom on the third floor at Stanford Shopping Center. Menu has changed obviously but it still has some of the familiar favorites like their tomato bisque soup and their signature turkey sandwiches. I got the margarita pizza as pictured below and my husband got a hamburger and French fries. Both of our meals were super delicious. Ambience was causal but lively as Christmas music played and the seating and tables gave a nice and cozy feel to the place. Service was pretty sweet too. After our meals, I bought a box of Nordstrom's chocolates; sea salt chocolates with caramel; so rich and decadent. I will have to come back here because I missed this placed so much. Having not been to this bistro in awhile, our family stopped by for lunch on this rainy day. Food was great along with our female server with food coming out (timing) being good for a Saturday 12:30 seating. I ordered the chefs special of the cherry glazed beef sandwich which was very good as I would have ordered the beef dip sandwich had the other not been on the seasonal special menu. Others in our party ordered one of their salads, roast beef dip, the Club sandwich along with tomato bisque and French onion soups. The FO soup was not as good as it is plated differently and the bread that they use tasted differently. I much prefer the deep bowl for the FO with the cheese melted over the lip of the bowl. read more

YES, PLEASE. Our order was taken, food was delivered, and we ate. The kids meal comes with a drink which Simone did not ask about. Upon finishing, we kept waiting on Simone to come by so we could ask for a box and the check. I look over to the kitchen, and I see her there on her phone and talking to another server. I wave, nothing. I finally waved down another server and told him we needed a box and our check. Guess he told Simone and she came over with a box and our check. I asked my husband to check whether she charged him for his drink since our daughter didn't get a drink with her meal. Nope, his drink was charged. We told Simone and her response was "Oh. Let me remove it." Really? No apologies, no nothing. Was extremely disappointed and I WILL ask for Simone to NOT be our server the next time we go. I wheeled my 93 yr old father to be seated only to be ignored. No one approached us for many minutes after receiving menus. After 4 minutes or so we departed. No one followed up as I pushed his wheelchair right past the two people who were there in spirit only to greet us. No follow up. Nothing. Only 8 patrons seated. There are not a lot of places to stop for lunch within Stanford Shopping Center that have waiter service. It appeared our only choices were the Cafe within Neiman Marcus and Bazille. We asked for a recommendation while checking out with a purchase and Bazille was recommended. I am so glad it was. We got in a bit earlier so the rush had not hit yet. By the time we left, nearly every table was full. The cafe was comfortable and clean. I liked the open kitchen. The staff was very welcoming and our server was fabulous. The menu has something for everyone with a nice selection of appetizers to pizza, salads, sandwiches and full entrees. I chose to start with their Crab Bisque. So delicious! Plenty of crab. with a touch of tomato and spice in the creamy base. Some of the best bisque I have enjoyed in a while. It was topped with a crispy garlic crostini. For lunch, I chose the crab, mango and avocado salad. A nice serving of lump crab atop organic baby arugula, cucumber, heirloom tomatoes, red onion topped with a cilantro lime vinaigrette and served with a toasted baguette. All fresh and delicious. Mom chose a Caesar with chicken while my husband ordered a lunch special, pepperoni and mushroom pizza. I admit to tasting everyone's food - it was all really good. We were all very pleased with our meals. I noticed they had a cookbook for sale advertising Bazille's best recipes. I asked if it included the recipe for the crab bisque. Our kind server confirmed it did and brought me over a copy to peruse. He also advised if I was not interested in buying the book, I was welcome to take a picture of the bisque recipe. SO this is my third time at Bastile @ Nordstrom. I came during lunch on 12-10 with a friend and it was quite busy. Tons of people waiting, and I must say their way of handling a drop in traffic and texting you is very efficient!! Excellent if I must say so myself. Everyone that works there is very friendly and helpful. Where it lacked for me on this visit was in the Bastile Burger that was ordered med well. I think this was not my favorite. I mean they were swamped so I give them kudos for handling all their customers. When I received my order I was sort of shocked when I attempted to eat the second part of the hamburger which was soggy. Our waiter was fine and did a great job with our drinks and taking the order. I think he probably realized as a waiter, this guy is not at fault. They are just way too busy. As I say, it is what it is! :) Sometimes its better just to grin and bear it versus complaining, especially when they are real busy. Also it's the holiday season..we need to spread more cheer and less negativity. read more

My favorite dish is anything they do with their cilantro lime dressing, so I have had the tacos and I have had the chicken salad - both of which have been excellent. I've always loved dining at Bazille when I lived in San Francisco. Since the Covid closures, I moved from SF to the peninsula, patiently waiting their Palo Alto locations opening. Once takeout became an option, I was all over it. Yummy options as always for adults and kid-friendly menu as well. They even offered easy curbside pick-up too which is a huge score when you have a toddler in tow! Then they finally opened the restaurant in April for indoor dining. This would be my almost 2 year olds first inside dining experience since the closures, just the 2 of us! She did so good, and our waiter was wonderful catering to our needs every few minutes. Thankfully they had crayons and a coloring menu for my daughter while we waited. Food was just as amazing as always, and restaurant/staff were very hospital and cleanly. Stanford mall needs more options for brunch. Ordered a French onion soup based off of past pictures on yelp thinking it was going to be in a cup. It came in a bowl. Way too much onion soup for Onion soup. Instead of bread being on the side or on top, it was actually at the bottom of the bowl which soaked up most of the broth which made it a Soggy French onion soup. Was not a fan. Our server was very nice and accommodating when I asked for more broth and bread on the side. On the fence about revisiting. Maybe for the pizza... read more

I wasn't so sure what she meant when last time I checked it was changed to Bastille... oh well, we still saw each after buying some perfume in the ground floor. She had a cup of the clam chowder and a Marguerite pizza while I had the salmon salad which was just okay . Nothing exceptional here except for the service . The food was okay. Very bland. I got the Cilantro Lime Chicken Tacos and then the Crab, Mango & Avocado Salad. They weren't bad, just not much flavor. I didn't realize until after I ordered that both had the Cilantro Lime vinaigrette. It tastes like nothing, you could barely tell there was any kind of dressing on either. Needed way more lime, way more salt, and some spice! But my major disappointment was that items were not well described on the menu. I wanted to eat something light and healthy. When I got my chicken tacos, the taco shells were *deep fried* and glistening with oil. This was not mentioned anywhere in the item description. I had been expecting soft corn shells, since it was supposed to be a low-cal dish. The salad claimed it came with a "toasted baguette" -- I was expecting a piece of nice fresh bread. Nope. It was 3 slices of crunchy crostini drenched in butter. And there's no way the calories counts for these dishes were accurate. If you have a heavy, greasy dish, why describe it on the menu as something light and fresh and healthy? That's really misleading, and pretty much ensures no one will be satisfied with their food. read more

First time here in years since our office moved. Pleased with the change. Service was prompt and personable, food arrived pretty quickly and was very good. I had the buratta and tomatoes, made with cherry tomatoes with pesto and balsamic reduction sauce. Also tried the Kung pao Brussels sprouts, which were very good too. I often go to Nordstrom cafes with my mom after a long day of shopping. I'm pretty boring because I order the same thing every time but it's consistently good! Would have rated 4 stars but the chicken in my salad was overcooked and it wasn't the first time that happened. Pros: - You can ask for bread and butter from your waiter before you food comes. - The waiters are super attentive and polite. - Conveniently located on floor 3 of Nordstrom. (There's a smaller cafe outside that serves coffee, tea, other drinks as well as pasties and on the go snacks.) Cons: - Almost $20 for a salad is much for a cafe. - I've never eaten here and had the restaurant packed. Even with the restaurant half full it sometimes takes a while for your food to come. - I always order the Warm Asian Sesame Chicken salad and the last couple times I've had it the chicken was overcooked, dry and tough to chew. read more
