Overall good place for a quick breakfast and coffee. They have tons of drink options and signature drinks. We had the sugar britches and funky monkey. Sugar britches is vanilla, caramel, and cinnamon it was great. The funky monkey is chocolate,peanut butter, and banana. It was good but you could only taste the chocolate. The breakfast sandwich and wrap are awesome. Next time I'm going to get the tacos because the looked amazing as well. They also have light lunch sandwiches and a few bakery options.

Interesting location for a coffee store. Sense Garner has completed road work on Hwy42 it can be a little trying to get here. At this of year the location was decorated for halloween which was cute. There is outside seating as well. Great coffee/drink choices as well as sandwiches during lunch. The counter staff was very nice and helpful as this was our first visit. There is a good variety of lite sandwiches to choose from. We ordered a chicken sandwich with balsamic drizzle and side salad as our side as well as a hot coffee and iced drink. Your order is brought to your table. The salad was of mixed greens, tomato, cucumber and croutons which had a good mix and good size. The sandwich was good, not cheated of chicken. Our drinks were good as well. Would return when in area.

Best bang for your buck and palette! Walking in this cafe, you're met with the smell of freshly baked goods, lots of life with bustling customers for a Sunday brunch. This Ugly Mug hands down had the best food I've ever had at a coffee shop cafe. We were so impressed with the quality, taste, presentation, and prices. The chocolate and strawberry foam mocha latte was so delicious. I inhaled it before being able to snap a photo. Service was overall excellent. It was funny when I asked about the "wrap" used for the breakfast wrap and they responded a tortilla. I'm still confused why not called a breakfast burrito. Nevertheless, 100% will be returning!

This place has good eats and great coffee. I would say this place is a bit loud. If I needed to study or wanted to "work from home" it wouldn't be the place for me. You walk in, you order from the counter and then take a seat if you're eating in. They bring your food to the table but you grab your drinks from the counter. The parking can get a bit crazy. There are lots of business in the same area. So it's not always easy to find a spot.

I've been trying to get here for over a year now and finally made it today. The music was good but the vibes of the employees were off. To give them the benefit of the doubt, it's close to closing time and my chai tea was yummy (half way filled to the rim) I probably wouldn't recommend this place. Sorry, not sorry.

What a Great place! Plenty of parking. You can sit inside or out. I got my order for eat in. A very friendly man delivered it to our table. Best coffee I have had. I don't like coffee that is full of flavored creamer or extra sugars- I like coffee, touch of oat milk. Their coffee is delicious! I also had the 3 tacos- sausage, egg and pimento cheese. Overall they were good, the egg was so thin I couldn't taste it at al. The pimento cheese and sausage had good flavor.

This new coffee bar is fantastic. The pours are very flavorful. good straight or with flavors added. They use locally sourced beans and you can taste the difference from the chains. It's just fresher. The atmosphere of the place is very welcoming. Whether you're just passing through, gathering with friends, a day date or there to study; the place has something for you. Amanda and Jeromy have outdone themselves. There is a super comfy couch and a great steampunk theme going through the place. Plenty of seating and a conference room in back. One of the biggest surprises is the small, well executed menu. They have some great breakfast foods like a Belgian waffle and breakfast sandwich done the ugly Mug way. They even have a couple of sandwiches for lunch. This is a welcome and needed addition to the 40/42 area. You owe it to yourself to check it out. It just may be your new favorite place! read more

This was a delicious way for us to spend our breakfast on Sunday. We arrived around 11 AM and there was plenty of seating. The space was industrial and very beautiful to look at. Service was pretty good. I hate to say this but it was definitely kind of hipster. What I mean by that is that sometimes the Service lacks a little bit in an effort to be "cool". The lady that took our order was definitely not interested in waiting too long. When we told her it was our first time here she didn't offer to explain anything on the menu she just waited in sort of looked at us with an impatient stare. She wasn't rude, just not necessarily gracious. Either way the food was excellent. I got the mug which which was delicious and my boyfriend got the breakfast sampler. There's waffles were excellent and we fight over the last bite. We will definitely be back again. read more

I've never been disappointed with my meals from Ugly Mug. I usually get the BLTC which is made with a generous portion of bacon and good quality cheese. The side I choose is their chips and salsa. I don't know which brand of salsa they serve but it's just right for me, so tasty! The customer service is friendly and I've never had to wait too long for my meal to be ready. I'm happy they're so close by and convenient. They have expanded their menu too so I'm looking forward to trying other dishes. read more

Wow! How did I miss this hidden gem? We recently moved to the 40/42 area. And I happen to see a sign for coffee. This location is awesome. Great coffee, great service, clean facility and their breakfast sandwiches are amazing!! I will give up my Starbucks for their vanilla latte! This place is a must try! read more

I have heard a lot of good things about this place. Finally decided to give it a try for breakfast. Unfortunately, it will be my last time here. We ordered 2 orders of eggs over medium. The eggs came out cooked WELL DONE. Very disappointed. We sent both orders back. Twice someone came out to ask how the eggs were supposed to be cooked. both times we told them so that the whites were cooked but the yokes runny. So one order came out pretty good but still a little over done and the other was almost as bad as the first time. It was then that we decided just to suck it up and vow to avoid the Ugly Mug. The food is definitely Ugly. I suggest that those cooking should partake in a few You Tube videos. I checked, and there are plenty on how to cook eggs. The Belgian waffle and the coffee were good. There are better breakfast options in the area read more

Enjoying this new coffee shop close by to my home on RT 50. Inside decor is cool and creative. Unfortunately, not a lot of seating. Stopped by today and no place to sit and eat my sandwich, manage to eat on the couch.. Still a great place to stop by!!! read more

I am a coffee fanatic and also a harsh critic, so I'm always skeptic when it comes to trying coffee, I went with one of my faves, the mocha latte and oh my lord.... it was delicious and the coffee taste was rich. I loved it, the BLTC was also amazing. Is too bad it's so far away from me otherwise I'd be there all the time ! read more

I was visiting Clayton for the first time and scoped this place out ahead of time. In a three day visit I ended up going here three days for a dinner snack and then breakfast twice. The last day I got a smoothie which was delicious. I wish I had this place at home. read more

My wife and I love coming here, although it is a little pricey everything has always been really good. I have referred them to a few friends and they have liked it as much as me. The food doesn't seem like it's just brought in from a local grocery store which is nice, I am surprised they don't do bagels but they have basically everything else. read more

Cracker barrel had a 2 hour wait and we found this restaurant and thought we would give it a try. Food was amazing. Had the breakfast waffles and sandwich's biscuits. It was all delicious. We were so glad cracker barrell fell through. Will definitely be back again!!!!! read more

I've been to this coffee shop twice, but only once since this pandemic has started. I was shocked by the lack of care the manager had for their customers health and well being. Not only did he wear his mask below his nose, but he also did not tell the customers to wear one. If I didn't already order, I would have left immediately. I will not be coming back! read more

Owner was extremely friendly and very helpful in helping us pick out what to order. Love the atmosphere and the food was quite tasty. I got a German Chocolate Cake Coffee that was terrific tasting, although sadly lukewarm for having just been made. The Mugwich had great flavor and was nicely executed, just wish it had been a little more filling it seemed like it was fairly light on the bacon and avocado. I'll still be back, this place has a lot of potential. read more

I live only about 5 minutes away and I always bring friends or family here from out o town to give it a try. since I'm not a coffee person, I really enjoy getting their food here! two of my favorites items is the yogurt granola bowl and the wafflewich. love the environment and the staff is always friendly. definitely recommend coming here if you haven't already! read more

I'd give them 3.5 stars, but since I can't, I'll round up. I've been coming here for years and it used to be one of my favorite coffee shops, but I feel like their service has gone down considerably in the past year. There are only a couple of servers that I'd consider really nice. Most of the others look like they're doing you a favor by taking your order. Also, I visited recently and even though they had a sign requiring masks, only 1/4 of the servers was wearing theirs properly and they allowed customers in without any masks at all. I may still come by because it's convenient and I do like their coffee options (there are a lot) and baked goods (they even have some vegan options), but it's no longer my go-to place. read more

Traveled down from NY looked for some coffee and breakfast was so happy to find this! Very affordable for delicious food, prices are excellent typically in New York the plate I had would be 20 bucks but ended up being 10 dollars. Can't beat it! Good vibes and good service! read more

Tucked back in a little shopping area is a nice welcome to a busy area. Welcome to Ugly Mug. While the name is funny the coffee they brew is very seriously good. Nice open area to sit and read or visit. The staff always make you feel like their most important customer and will prepare anything you want or make suggestions if you aren't sure. Love the double decker coffee! I love it hot or cold! Add some baileys at home for your own person flare! I stop by as often as I can! The coffee, smoothies and muffins are great! Me & my girlfriend went here for breakfast and everything was absolutely delicious. The staff was very rad too. One of them gave us raccoon stickers & another one talked to me about concerts. The mimosas were awesome, the BLTC was awesome, and my gf said they made one of the best matcha lattes she's had. Her breakfast tacos looked insanely good too. Definitely recommend.
