The location alone is 5 stars!! It's an amazing vibe!! This location on the beach in Malibu is such a gem! The food is really good, the attention to detail is really special!! And the lychee martini is a must!! The best I ever had. The mini tacos are also a must!! It is very pricey but worth it especially for an occasion or to impress someone. Definitely watch the documentary on Chef Nobu before you go, gives a great background on the reason for all the flavors.
Believe the hype! First time at this Nobu and this was my first impression. Pros: very Island like with the breeze from the ocean. Casual attire, in despite many said including their website no open-toed shoes for men. I saw plenty of men with their toes out. Very cool vibes. Service is rather fast especially for such a busy place. Our waiter Oscar was top tier. Everything we ordered was excellent to the point we didn't get to take pictures of them. We dove right in. Cons: you most likely need a reservation to go in. Things to know: there is valet parking for $15
A SoCal classic. Probably the most renowned location of the Nobu franchise. For one, it's beautifully located on PCH and they have the best sunsets as it's beachside.We came in a big group to celebrate our friend's birthday. She made the reservation and as a large group they were able to accommodate us with an indoor table. Surprisingly, if one or a few cancel last minute there are no cancellation fees unless the whole group forfeits without early notice. I thought this was a plus. Overall, I've been to several Nobu locations globally. This one was one of the most charming and perfect date night, love a coastal scenery. It does get quite busy, it's recommended to make a reservation. Some of the dishes we ordered: Seared Toro Yellowtail Jalapeño Crispy Rice with Tuna Rock Shrimp Tempura Shishito Peppers Chicken Karaage + way more Signature drink: Lychee martini!! A must every time I visit. Definitely one of the top spots I'd bring someone visiting from out of town.
I came here to celebrate my anniversary and it was such a treat! We got a table on the water and the weather was perfect! Our waiter was amazing and curated our entire meal for us. We started with amazing appetizers, then some hot dishes and ended with sushi and dessert. The best dish was the miso cod. I could eat that every day! The uni was the best uni I have ever had with a wasabi relish on top. The high price of the meal makes it feel impossible to come back but I did enjoy every bite. There is valet parking or you can try to find street parking but there isn't much.
Nobu Malibu is one of the restaurant gems of LA. Incredible views, ambiance, food, service, and vibes. From start to finish, excellent dishes, drinks, and atmosphere. Really enjoy sitting on the patio facing the ocean, a true LA dining experience. The seafood is top quality and prepared with so much attention to detail. We ordered apps and the famous black cod with miso. The rock shrimp was so crispy and flavorful, pairing well with their spicy aioli. Every dish was memorable, a true 5-star dining experience at Nobu Malibu!
Nobu Malibu is honestly all about the location. Being right on the beach gives it such a nice vibe, especially with the indoor-outdoor setup. Sitting outside in the dining area is my favorite spot the ocean view alone makes the experience. Reservations can be hard to get, but honestly every time I've gone we've just popped in, hung out by the bar, and eventually gotten a table. It does get busy, and valet is pretty much the move here. The food is what you expect from Nobu pricey, but always fresh and consistently good. Not much to complain about there. The tacos are all delicious (tuna, white fish, wagyu ribeye and caviar), are always a hit. Drinks are great too, and lately I've been getting the strawberry cheesecake for dessert, which is sooo good. You'll almost always see a celebrity here (not something I personally care about), but if you're trying to impress out-of-town guests, this is definitely the place. For comparison, my second favorite Nobu location is Newport Beach it feels more chill with a DJ and slightly less fancy compared to Malibu. Overall, Nobu Malibu is worth it for the views, vibes, and consistently good food. PS just recently they started charging for extra ginger lol just ask your waiter about it before asking for more.
The ambience was beautiful, you can hear the waves and the breeze felt nice on the outdoor patio. We got reservations for 8pm and they did a good job of keeping the guest warm outside. However, one thing that bothered my husband was that the tables were not flat to the ground. Meaning if we leaned too hard on one side, the table would tip or lean. For how much you're paying here, to have the tables quality be like this was a bit off putting. It also felt very cramped. The table next to me was soo close I couldn't really move back my chair to get up. It felt like they were trying to squeeze as much tables as possible, to get more people there at a time. Service: undesirable. Took too long for them to refill my water glass. At that point I had to just ask a staff for still bottled water. The waiter also seemed to have forgotten our table as it took a while for them to even hand us menus. This is a big reason why the stars are low. Food: yellowtail jalapeño (2/5) was too salty. Miso soup (5/5) the tofu tasted very good. Black cod (4/5) I noticed there was a fish bone sticking out. Luckily I saw it before I ate it. It could have been dangerous, this was another reason this place lost a star. Crispy rice and sushi were good quality and good overall, no complaints there. Overall I left feeling very disappointed. For the price you're paying and the effort it took for me to make a reservation, the presentation of food and service was not good. I've been to a lot of sushi-focused, high-priced places in the OC, and I can tell you at least 5 different places with the same quality, better service and better value. I think the hype is what keeps this place busy. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back.
I don't think Nobu needs any more reviews, but here I am anyway! We went for my husband's birthday, and coming from someone who doesn't eat sushi or fish at all, for that matter, it was absolutely AMAZING. Every dish was incredible, the atmosphere was beautiful, and the experience completely lived up to the hype!
Vibe and ambiance is great, the beach is right there. Sitting outside is wonderful with stunning views. Sushi rolls, nigiri, and other things were in my opinion just alright. They were good but great. Definitely not justified by the price. The value to greatness is lacking. Far better sushi spots in LA. We ordered a collection of nigiri and sushi rolls. The one standout was the yellowtail jalapeño, which was very good. However, I've had similar at many other restaurants that were just as tasty and at a far lower price point. I'd recommend saving your money and going elsewhere.
Nobu Malibu is a must. This location is unbelievably stunning. It was not too busy when we visited, which was great because we could hear the waves, and really enjoy each other's company. To know before you go-- Make sure to book your reservation a month ahead if you want a specific date & valet is required once onsite. We ordered the rock shrimp tempura w/ creamy spicy sauce, yellowtail jalapeño, and the oysters. I have had better oysters, but the shrimp tempura & yellowtail jalapeño were really great. Wish I tried the lychee martini, because I didn't love the drinks we selected. The view alone makes this location a must visit, but stay for a few light bites & I believe it is well worth it. Service was also top notch.
Came here to celebrate my sister's birthday recently! Food: Everything was definitely fresh. I can see why the Miso Black Cod is a fan favorite. The fish is made to perfection. It was so flavorful and melts in your mouth. While I am not a fan of raw fish, my sister loved the yellow tail. It was not fishy at all and very fresh. My second favorite item from our order, surprisingly, is the fried okra! It was so addicting to munch on while waiting for our main courses. We also ordered the California roll (forgot to photograph). I did not feel there was anything special with that. I've had better California rolls at many other places. The rock shrimp.. although is another fan favorite, I did not like too much. It tasted alright at best to me. The flavors did not mix that well in my opinion. Dessert was a form of lava cake. It was decent. Service: The waiters are very attentive. Two of them even offered to take photos for us, which was very kind of them! They were good at recommending items and took their time with us. Parking: It was a $15 valet parking! Very easy and not too stressful. Overall: The view of the ocean where we were sat was beautiful. The restaurant was lovely inside and out. The restroom had a huge mirror, which is perfect for makeup touch ups. We told the waiter we were celebrating a birthday, and they wrote happy birthday on the dessert we ordered. It was a nice first experience! I would come back in the near future!
Top tier Nobu restaurant! We went here for lunch right at 12pm on a Tuesday and it was still crazy busy. We joined a line to check in around 11:55am but since we had reservations and specifically asked for outside patio, they were able to honor it (no guarantees though). We were sat right directly at the waters, out of the crowds. I'd imagine walking in is possible but you may only settle for indoors, which shaves off a bit from the experience. We got a masu nigori sake which is served in a box. For appetizer, we got the monkfish pate with caviar which is quite unique and has a bit of wasabi flavor from the sauce. It's very elegant. We also got the house special cut sushi which had a variety of fresh sashimi inside, and very easy to take bites from the seaweed based on texture. For the main, we got the famous miso black cod. The meat is so juicy and smooth, just that it is a bit on the sweeter side for me. It's still delicious and well worth the hype, especially given the portion size for the price tag. For dessert we got the Qui Espresso which is a tequila version of espresso martini and it's fairly unique since it uses oat milk. We enjoyed it. Price wise it is very spendy but also the service and quality match. Service is great as they check up on you regularly and make sure to top off our water cups so we are never dehydrated.

I've been wanting to go to Nobu for a awhile now and finally got the chance to go for my birthday this year. The setting at the beach and the ambiance of the restaurant is stunning. My favorite menu items were the king crab tempura legs, wagyu mini tacos, and the cream puff pastry dessert. The hostess and waiters are also very attentive and make you fell welcomed by greeting you at the main entrance. Everything turned out great. read more
Had a reservation so we walked in and got seated almost immediately. Food was 7/10 this time, drinks were good, service was horrible. Our server whose name on the check says Simeon but sometimes they have different people doing the checks but anyways he was older with glasses. He was not very attentive and a little rude. We ordered something that we never got and when we made sure he doesn't charge us we only got a very insincere apology. It took him over 10 minutes to bring in a second miso soup. When we asked for desert appetizer menu then another 10 minutes wait. Not sure if I'll return again cause pretty much you can get the same food and view elsewhere but it's just the name and the hype for no reason wanting people to go back. If I ever go back again I'll make sure to call a manger or someone in charge for that kind of behavior and service. read more

I've been eyeing this spot for what feels like forever, but reservations are notoriously hard to snag. So when I finally secured a booking for my birthday night during sunset, it felt like a small victory! (booked exactly at 12am one month in advance on OpenTable) From the moment we arrived, the view alone was enough to take your breath away--golden hour spilling over the city skyline, casting a warm glow on every table. It truly set the tone for a magical evening. We kicked things off with their famous lychee martini (a must!) and another cocktail whose name escapes me, but the taste didn't--both were sweet, refreshing, and expertly balanced. To start, we ordered the tuna tacos and the tuna atop potato chips. While the portions were definitely on the smaller side, not worth it for the price...but the quality of the fish more than made up for it--fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. Then came the star of the night: the miso black cod. I had high hopes, but it exceeded every expectation. The marinade had an almost unagi-like richness--sweet, savory, and perfectly caramelized. It was melt-in-your-mouth tender and easily my favorite dish of the night, with the crispy rice tuna coming in at a close second. Overall, the I think it was worth coming for a special occasion or a once-in-a-while indulgence, it's an experience that hits all the right notes--scenic, flavorful, and uniquely LA. read more

We sat at the bar while we waited for our table and had a couple drinks while we watched the football game, such a fun place for Happy Hour! At the bar we had an appetizer - 2 regular oysters and 4 miso oysters, we absolutely loved the miso oysters. Staff is so friendly and kind here. They were attentive, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu items. Once we sat we ordered: Yellowtail Sashimi with Jalapeños - (10/10) Wow! So yummy, they serve the best ponzu sauce with this dish. Must order if you're a yellowtail fan. Rice Crispy Spicy Tuna - (10/10) So flavorful with the perfect balance of rice and tuna. Fluke Sashimi with Dry Miso - Amazing, highly recommend! This dish is SO yummy and unique to Nobu. Chilean Sea Bass with Dry Miso - (15/10) Wow again! This dish is amazing, we highly, highly recommend. Fish was so fresh, served with asparagus. Must try! Spicy Tuna cut roll and Yellowtail cut roll - Both were amazing, I don't typically like Seaweed but I love how fresh the Seaweed is here. read more

I come to Nobu Malibu at least once a year for my anniversary, and it's always a highlight -- truly one of the most beautiful and serene dining venues in Los Angeles. Tucked deep in Malibu right on the water, it offers an atmosphere that's both incredibly private and effortlessly luxurious, with ocean views that make every meal feel special. If you love yellowtail, the Yellowtail Jalapeño Sashimi is a must -- a dish many restaurants try to replicate, but none come close. It's hands down the best iteration of yellowtail sashimi I've ever had. For something new, I highly recommend the Tiradito "Nobu Style" sashimi -- I believe it's fluke, served with a light, citrusy, slightly sweet sauce that gives it a refined Peruvian twist. This is a restaurant that defines understated sophistication. The food, service, and setting are all exceptional. A note for first-timers: be respectful of the privacy -- photos of your food or the ocean are fine, but keep it discreet -- and book well in advance. Nobu Malibu remains one of the most beautiful and memorable dining experiences anywhere in LA. read more
Nobu lived up to the hype! We visited Malibu Nobu on a Thursday evening. We had made reservations for a late lunch but received a call letting us know they currently aren't open during the day (recent fires). They were able to accommodate us for a 4:30 seating. This particular day had lots of rain and flash flooding. Although the view was obscured by rain, the table we were given was overlooking the ocean. Gorgeous views even through the storm. Our waiter, Sam, was fabulous! She walked us through the menu-guided us in some pre dinner cocktails and Followed up without hovering. We dined on: Crispy rice with spicy tuna 10/10 Yellowtail shashimi jalapeno 10/10 Lobster tacos 20/10 (I could eat a whole plate of these!) I mean - the location is everything! Ambiance is nice, very Cali casual - expected better for being a high end restaurant. My BFF got us a surprise reservation here - loved that! We were seated with the sun in our eyes - I won't complain because some winter sun will do me some good. We took the pre-fix menu option so we didn't have to think as much :-) and can spend more time enjoying the view, the company and the bubbly. The courses were pretty good, but for being such an overhyped spot - it wasn't anything out of the blue in terms of curated cuisine. read more

It's Worth IT! A real culinary experience. People make fun of the portions all day but the amount of flavor inside a bite size taco/sushi can change your life. The service was impeccable. The ambiance is worth visiting. And the service was really good - very attentive waiters and staff even on a busy day. My favorites were the ribeye and tuna taco. I'd pass on the lobster taco - it was cooked and didn't have as much flavor. The new sashimi was good as well but steep price for the amount you get. Made a reservation but came late since we were stuck in Friday Traffic. The host on the phone did not say we won't get a table when we arrive or we would go somewhere else. Alana won't give us a table and said only the sushi Bar was available. There was at least 10 tables empty. Don't care to accommodate even though we said we won't be long since we have a wedding to attend tonight. The ambiance is nice but we can't take any photos since we has to be at the sushi bar. Alana the host with the bright bronzer makeup sure know how to make money for Nobu Alana will disappoint you. Go elsewhere who truly care about your business. read more
We sat outside and the view of the water was gorgeous. The staff is knowledgeable and professional. The tuna crispy rice was good, but what really wowed me were the entrees. The black cod with miso was really as amazing as people say, being so flaky and flavorful. The spicy creamy snow crab and Chilean sea bass were also excellent. On a perfect beach day, I finally had the chance to enjoy lunch at Nobu. We started with appetizers like crunchy okra--a brilliant introduction for anyone who's never tried okra before--and fresh oysters. As someone who enjoys traditional sushi, I opted for à la carte selections such as aji, saba, and kohada. The uni from Santa Barbara was especially outstanding. To finish, I had a semifreddo for dessert. The service was professional, and the entire experience was delightful. With the stunning ocean view and refreshing sea breeze, I left Malibu in the best of moods. read more

Good service here, our server explained all the dishes well, and he gave good recommendations for a first-time Nobu experience! Ambiance is beautiful as well. Every visit to Nobu Malibu with my wife is a fantastic experience. The food is always amazing, the drinks are excellent, and you just can't beat the breathtaking ocean view it makes every meal feel special. The staff is a huge part of why we keep coming back. Kat always greets us warmly at the host stand, Luca brings out our food with great care, and Chef Anson prepares sushi that's truly unforgettable. The service from Sappier, Chris, Samantha, and James is consistently outstanding friendly, attentive, and professional. Great food, great drinks, great people, and an unbeatable view Nobu Malibu never disappoints. read more

Incredible! This Nobu has been so hyped as a celebrity hotspot and in general as a great restaurant and it far exceeded my expectations. I've been to the Newport Beach location but the Malibu one was so much more of a delicious and fun experience with the best service in town. We opted for the top omakase option which came with 8 courses for $200pp. Surprisingly the portions were pretty hefty and I feel it was a great value given the quality of each dish. It def didn't feel like tiny "tasting" portions as is often the case with these kind of fixed menus. Overall it's worth the spend for special occasions. The view outside is absolutely first rate; I would only recommend dining on the patio so you can enjoy that Malibu ocean view. Although this isn't a kid-friendly place per se, the servers were EXCELLENT with our little one and I spotted two other tables with well-behaved babies. Note they do not have a baby changing station in any of the bathrooms -- I do hope they can fix this in the future. Tip: there are some nice touches on some of the dishes. They had the name "Nobu" etched into the ice cube of one of our drinks which was super cool. Another tip: It's notoriously hard getting a reservation here, as they open once a month at a certain time of day and you have to call in. read more

Visited for a birthday dinner on a Monday night. I called a month in advance to make the reservation and was informed that there would be no email confirmation or other assurance with the exception of a phone call a few days before to confirm or cancel the reservation. Upon arrival, we noticed that there was only valet available for $15, which was fine. We walked into the restaurant and the interior is modern with interplays of the wooden decor, glass and a semi open seating area exposed to the waves of the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately for us, we were seated at the table near the wait staff. So we heard all their negative comments about customers as they gathered behind us, which was unprofessional and extremely annoying. As for the food, the menu doesn't tell you much. I ordered the shrimp and lobster in spicy lemon sauce ($58) and was surprised to see a mountain of mushrooms on the three shrimp and half of a lobster tail. My husband ordered the yellowtail jalapeño roll ($18), crispy rice ($22) and lobster tacos ($20). He seemed to enjoy the lobster tacos and roll the most. The star of the show was for sure the dessert bento box ($20) which came with a chocolate lava cake and "imperial" grade matcha ice cream. We also paired it with a tea ($8) that had matcha in it. The matcha flavor in both the ice cream and tea were light, which was welcomed. The pairing of the ice cream and cake was perfect. Overall, with a $162 price tag, the lack of professionalism among the staff and mediocre dining experience fell far below my expectations for a birthday dinner. read more

We managed to have our hotel concierge snag a reservation for lunch on our vacation because we had tried and were unable to. Valet was nice and we arrived early so got a table with a stunning view! We had zero expectations other than it comes with a HUGE reputation in an amazing location and higher prices. No surprises. We ordered the spicy rock shrimp tempura which was very good. Along with a California roll, a shrimp tempura roll, a side of rice, and dessert was either strawberry ice cream or sorbet. Overall everything was good. Service, food, etc. I will say you are legit paying for the view, and it's pricey, but the food was similar/same as you'd get at any sushi spot. The view and picture opportunity alone made it worth it for us! read more

Usually when I try places that are famous I am usually disappointed. Nobu however, lives up to all aspects of the hype. The drinks were so good, everything g we ate was so flavorful. I enjoyed coming to Nobu and will be back. The ambiance is chill but loud. read more

We came to Nobu Malibu expecting a top-tier experience. The food was okay -- nothing particularly memorable for the price. What really threw us off was the service: we had around four different servers rotating at our table, which led to confusion and a lack of consistency throughout the evening. The worst part came at the end. After our $700+ dinner, we were trying to get settled in the car with my family at valet -- fastening seatbelts for four people, including my mother-in-law after insult. Another valet guy behind usbegan honking aggressively. When I politely asked for one minute, he responded with, "No f--ing need this space now, move your car," and blocked us in. For a place that markets itself on luxury and hospitality, this was a disappointing and stressful way to end the night. Wouldn't call it a "nice experience" It was 06/25/25 around 9:45 read more

First time and probably last time I would eat at nobu. I have been wanting to try nobu for years, but honestly it's so overhyped and expensive! Definitely a place to splurge and experience once. The food was okay, it was such small portions. The best thing I tried was the yellowtail jalapeno sashimi, black cod miso, and wagyu tacos. Service was on point tho, server was very knowledgeable on the menu and gave us recommendations. The view was nice but it was cold, they do offer blankets but I didn't know until the end of our meal. extremely overpriced and mid sushi, but 4 stars for the good service and the some dishes which were good were pretty good. definitely come for the vibes over the food. here's my personal rundown of everything I ordered - spicy tuna crispy rice (4/5): I really liked this! the spicy tuna was okay but the crispy rice is absolutely delicious, with the perfect texture and crisp. worth trying - miso cod (4.5/5): super delicious and buttery, and honestly twice the size of what I thought it would be so pretty good value - rock shrimp in spicy creamy sauce (4/5): you get a lot a lot of shrimp, but the shrimp is so juicy and perfectly coated. I really enjoyed this dish. It also came on a bed of lettuce to help cut through the cream while eating - yellowtail jalapeño (2/5): honestly not that fresh lol. would not get again, one of the worser yellowtails i have had - baked crab handroll (1/5): was literally imitation crab covered in mayo... - toro scallion cut roll (3/5): hard to mess this up bc the toro is minced, but nothing special - ribeye in truffle sauce (2.5/5): I loved the fried onions and truffle butter sauce, but the steak itself was sooo tough and overcooked and not high quality at all read more

Not too bad for one...however the ocean view can be tricky. Timing is key and are always high demand, but I've generally had good luck with walk ups
How do you reserve the couch seating right near the railing/ocean? Can they accommodate that for 2 people?
You can definitely ask for this over over the phone and confirm they do try to accommodate request. It just depends on how busy they are for that particular night but most of the time they can make it happen.

It's always Happy Hour at Nobu! I don't believe there is a happy hour. Note: it's the Experience & the sushi, not the price. GL getting in. I go there usually in the early afternoon once I finish an Appraisal out there. I treat myself
Do they accept walk ins?
Usually no but I did get a table once when I waited before opening during a weekday. Granted it was only for 2 people. Doubtful if it was a larger party than 4. Especially during the weekends.
Does this place take reservations, if so how far in advanced do I need to make?
Yes 30 days in advance! Call exactly at 10am ! Your wait time is like 20 mins long already !
Are walk ins allowed?
Yes but be prepared to wait hours just find a seat in bar area
Any good options for vegetarians ? Avacado rolls?
They have a lot of vegetarian options including avocado rolls ask for anything a lot is off menu
Is it required for a pregnant women to be vaccinated?
No one asked for vaccination status
Are proof of vaccinations cards required for dining?
Proof of vaccination is required for entry to LA County restaurants as of October 7.
