    Bruschetta

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at Nona was disappointing from start to finish because of the lack of customer service and hospitality. Our waitress barely checked on our table throughout the meal. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer, but it came out burnt. When we sent it back, instead of apologizing or offering to replace it, the waitress told us it was supposed to be that way because otherwise "the tomatoes would make it soggy." That response was dismissive and unprofessional. Things got worse when our entrees arrived. One of the pasta dishes had a large pool of oil underneath the pasta. After only a few bites, I noticed how excessive it was and asked the waitress to take it back. Rather than addressing the issue, she told us we would be charged because the dish was "half eaten." She never offered to remake it until we specifically asked. After speaking with the kitchen, she came back and said they would charge us both to remake the dish and for the original one as well. Charging a customer for replacing a meal that was prepared poorly is unacceptable. Throughout the entire experience, it felt like there was an excuse for every issue we brought up instead of any effort to resolve it. Rather than listening to our concerns or trying to make things right, the waitress became defensive, which only made the situation worse. Good customer service is about finding solutions, not adding fuel to the fire. To make matters even more uncomfortable, we could clearly see staff members watching us from behind the counter and in the kitchen while whispering to each other. It made us feel unwelcome and judged instead of cared for as paying customers. If this restaurant wants to succeed and keep customers coming back, they need to invest in customer service training. A restaurant's reputation isn't built on food alone it's built on how customers are treated when something goes wrong. Building positive relationships with customers is what earns repeat business. For a family-owned restaurant that's still establishing itself, hospitality should be a priority. Unfortunately, our experience showed the complete opposite, and because of that, we won't be returning.

Thoroughly enjoy eating at Nona's. I have been here a few times and the food is consistently delicious. The restaurant is clean and provides an intimate environment to have a nice family dinner. You can taste the quality in the ingredients, well balanced sauces and fresh produce. Our steaks were cooked perfectly to how we ordered and the garlic butter on top took them to the next level. The minestrone soup was a great starter, warm and comforting, note that it does contain meat. My husband ordered a Caesar salad as one of his sides with his steak and it was huge and delicious. We left full and with a ton of leftovers. There were a few other families in the restaurant, but I hope they continue to get consistent business. Compared to some other similar restaurants in the area the food here is just as good, if not better, and the restaurant staff are friendly and attentive.

I was so excited to come here and try it but it was definitely a fail. Idk if I just picked a bad day or what. My pasta was so greasy I couldn't eat. Ate the chicken but I should of just not. The other people I was with complained of their chicken been thick and hard due to being over cooked. So dinner was definitely a fail. Positive points the mussels were good, bread good, tea good. The waitress was nice and you can tell she was working hard. The place is very cute inside. I think this might be a good spot for just apps and drinks.

Right at entrance to this location we were hit with a foul smell in resemble to a bad sewer line. Lasted about a good ten minutes. Pushed through that and was able to be seated and placed out drink and food orders. We were the only guests in the restaurant during our while visit. Our meal was decent as we chose to share a Wagyu burger and some fries. Service was fair and nice for this visit. This is an establishment I'm sure does well. I would just really be concerned around the smell the enters as it is unwelcoming and could deter customers.

    Bruschetta

The food here was FANTASTIC. The bread of the bruschetta was the perfect texture--the bottom was crunchy enough to hold everything up, but the top was nice and soft with a little toasting. I had the pasta alla carbonara and the pancetta was perfectly crisped but still had a chewy bite to it! So heavenly. And the pasta and sauce were so rich. We were very pleasantly surprised. Our only small complaint was the service. Our server seemed pretty slow to do everything, only working on one table at a time. She may have been new, we weren't sure. The environment was pretty nice and we had a lovely time. We would definitely go back!

Excellent food, excellent service, and happy customers who talked with us about how great the food was! Overall great experience in my opinion The bruschetta was very good and fresh, my eggplant parm was delicious, and the shrimp scampi was 11/10!

I tried Nona's Kitchen in Lodi and the food and atmosphere were the best part of the whole experience. The restaurant feels cozy, welcoming, and clean, with comfortable seating and a warm, homey vibe. The big windows and lights make it feel open and relaxing. The food was excellent. The pesto pasta, Alfredo, and lasagna were all flavorful and fresh. The salad was generous and well made, and the calamari was crispy without being greasy. You can tell the kitchen cares about what they're making. The only thing that could be better is the service. Our waitress was very quiet, didn't check in much, and never offered dessert or asked how things were. Nothing rude, just very minimal. With food this good, a little more warmth and engagement from the staff would make the experience perfect. Overall, I would definitely come back. Great food, great atmosphere, and just a little room for improvement on the service side.

Been wanting to go here for about a year. Reading the reviews was very hard to say what to expect. Restaurant super clean and service great. Not crowded at all was disappointing. We had the trio pasta dish with lasagna, pesto and fettuccine Alfredo. Fettuccine was good and also lasagna. Pesto meh.We also had calamari appetizer which was good but not over the top. Others with us had lasagna and egg plant parm. We also had warm bread really good and brshetta. No alcohol especially wine is a turn off to any Italian restaurant. That is like pizza and no beer. Overall pleased with dinner but we will not be back for dinner until we can enjoy the meal with wine.

Excellent food and service. Best minestrone I've ever had. Deep and rich flavor. I'm certain this gem is hopping during Lodi wine season.

So glad I finally checked out Nona's! The atmosphere was kind of bland, but both myself & my husband thoroughly enjoyed our food. My husband ordered the chicken Florentine, which was served with grilled veggies & potatoes. It was delicious & such a huge portion! I had the pasta trio & it was also a massive portion & really good! Our server was so sweet & offered us a complimentary Italian soda & it was delicious (definitely worth trying, trust me)! Give this place a chance & you won't regret it!

    Fettuccini Alfredo

Italian is one of my favorite types of food to eat so I can be really judgy when trying a new Italian place but Nona's has become one of my go to places when craving Italian! I had their fettuccini and it was AMAZING! Super creamy, pasta cooked perfectly, lots of flavor, and the portion size was HUGE(I love being able to have leftovers the next day). If you're looking for authentic Italian food, I highly recommend Nona's!

The restaurant is a bit upscale and pricey-although many restaurant prices have increased-so it is reasonable just a matter of what you order and are expecting. The drinks were made pretty strong and worth the price. For large groups they have a group menu under the appetizers that has three categories individual serving, double serving or a platter which would equate to three servings. We did a couple appetizers for double servings. There also was a cast iron bread which I highly recommend-we didn't find it on the menu but another adjacent table had ordered it -we asked, ordered and we demolished it. I even forgot to take photos of the bread. For the main dishes the fish and chips was worth it, I didn't get any positive feedback on the ravioli that many of the people in the group had ordered. The one who had the Beef Wellington said it was worth it. There were two in the group that ordered the beef stroganoff that weren't able to fjnish their dish. We all forgot about the shepherds pie--maybe next time.

The ambiance isn't anything beyond a basic deli without any of the frills or specialty touches. It's just plain and a bit worn. Primarily known for Italian food this is where it apparently shines. We ordered a meatball sandwich to share along with a bag of chips and two drinks. We had ordered a #6 which we were charged for, but didn't really get the supposed complimentary sides. No big deal. The meatball sandwich really didn't figure into that equation anyway. The sandwich made from scratch and warmed nicely with oozing mozzarella cheese was simply delicious. What impressed me most was it was not made with a red tomato sauce but rather a brown sauce. That's something one sees a lot in the Italian influenced communities in and around New Orleans. What's nice is the brown sauce doesn't overwhelm the tastiness of the meatballs which were plump and quite delicious. Have a lot of napkins as it gets messy. Overall it was a good experience. Others in our group had mimosas, which were well received... especially the grapefruit mimosa, which my partner really enjoyed. For food, there were several highlights. My partner had the chicken and waffles and loved it; I tried some and would agree it was very good. Another person in our group ordered the steak breakfast tacos, which came as a set of three. They only ate two, and I had the third and it was delicious and something I would recommend. Another in our group had the eggs Benedict and thought it was excellent. I had the biscuits and gravy with fried eggs. It was okay, but not something I would go out of my way to order again. In terms of value, prices felt consistent with the quality of the food, service, and overall setting. It's not a budget brunch spot, but it feels appropriate for the experience.
