Just ate dinner here. We both had a cup of clam chowder before our dinner. OMG the soup was wonderful! Tons of clams! So flavorful! I just had some clam chowder a few weeks ago in SF. The clam chowder at Nona's was way better! I can't wait to go back and have some more. The menu said they serve it on Friday/Saturday. Go try some! You won't be disappointed. Food here is amazing but staff is horrible, not friendly at all. This is second time I have been here, first time I thought because it's new and staff might have been nervous/new but both times I've been they don't acknowledge you've walked in door even when I've made eye contact with staff. (Was only one other table) the staff sit behind front computer and acted like you are interrupting a break time. Would be amazing if all staff were fired and hire new up beat friendly people. I really hope the owner see this, customers love your food but staff needs a revamp. read more

Nona's is one of Lodi's hidden gems. It's a new restaurant in the former location of Woodbridge Pizzeria on Kettleman Lane (on the east end of the same complex as Yen Ching and Impact Sports). Like any new restaurant it is working to get its legs underneath it, but it is doing a lot of things right, including: * Incredible food! Nona's offers Italian and American food (pastas, steaks, chicken, salads) that are consistently done well and come in extremely generous portions. The sides are huge (see photos!). A steak dinner comes with two sides and it's a challenge to finish it! The chicken parmesan is massive, too. * Great prices. The aforementioned steak dinner, for example: a 16 oz. steak that comes with two huge sides and complimentary bread rolls is only $35! Other meals are in the high teens or low twenties. * Little or no wait. One of my favorite things about Nona's is that while it's usually steady, it's rarely packed. I love that I can get food that rivals (or in some cases beats) Pietro's for less money and usually without a wait or need for reservations. There is so much to recommend, but some things are not to be missed, including: the BEST minestrone soup in Lodi, the NY steak sandwich (or any steak they offer), the fingerling potatoes, the fries, and their incredible Italian sodas. After several visits I've become a big fan of the place, both for dining in and take-out. That said, they are a few kinks they are still working out: it can sometimes take a while for the food to cook, and smoke from the kitchen grill occasionally spills out into the dining room. They do not offer pizza or chicken strips, which limits kid-friendly choices generally to pasta or burgers. One or two of the wait staff seem new to food service, but they warm up when you talk with them. The owners, however, are very welcoming and go out of their way to make the guest experience a good one. The food for the most part is pretty good. They give very generous portions. My husband had chicken piccata, but you just don't use chicken tenders for your piccata. Also, the staff needs to get organized. The day we went was a Tuesday for lunch at 1:00 pm. They still had a lot of tables and people still coming in. One was a large group of about eight ladies. They only had one waitress. Finally, a man from the kitchen came out to try and help. He brought bread, but to the wrong table. He must have realized it and then we finally got bread. Also, I wanted a salad instead of fries. That didn't happen, but I didn't want to wait any longer. I hope they get it together and make it. read more

This place was good! We ordered the Cesar salad which was excellent. However, the bruschetta was overpowered with so many cherry tomatoes and the bread was soggy. I ordered the chicken pesto pasta, which was good but the sauce was so thick I had to keep drinking my drink to wash it down. My sister enjoyed her shrimp alfredo, it was light but they didn't peel the tails off the shrimp which was annoying. This was good, but wouldn't be my first choice for a pasta meal. read more

My husband and I tried this cute little place for lunch. I got the chicken pesto sandwich-delicious! My husband got the meatball sandwich which he liked. We will definitely be back. I agree with another reviewer. . . The place is still working out some things and it was pretty empty. Hopefully more people will give this place a try. You walk in to a room full of smoke . Long wait , only one waitress . 45 minutes after ordering food came out . Steak sandwich was asked for medium . It looked like the steak was boiled and no flavor . My wife ordered chicken parm and Alfredo pasta , everything looked microwaved not fresh . The crust came off the chicken like a nugget . My sister joined my husband, our kids, and I for lunch today. She had the shrimp scampi (she said it was okay), he had the Pasta Di Mare (he said it was amazing), I split the Chicken Pesto Sandwich with my daughter (chicken and the flavor was perfect!) and my son got the Lasagna (he said it was tasty). So, yes, the food is super delicious (4.5/5)!! Service was decent. Nice and attentive server (3.5/5) Ambiance was okay. A bit warm inside but than didn't bug us too much (2.5/5). Good true Home style, Italian food. With a local Mexican twist. Everything was fresh...and cooked right for you. I got the Chicken Picata, came with splendid veggies. Hubby ordered lasagna with meat sauce but couldn't get a side of sausage. Our guest ordered alfredo pasta. The appetizer of calamari must have been a local thing...cut up pieces of squid body...no rings or legs...just mantle strips. I didn't mind but it made the rest of the party pretty uncomfortable. Went to this new restaurant with my granddaughter for her birthday. The food was delicious. Everything came out pipping hot. I had the chicken florentine with potatoes and grilled zucchini. Very clean, it was our third time here. I'm Italian and this is authentic food. The clam chowder is the best around here. The portions are huge. The only negative is they need to pay attention to the tables and who's order hasn't been taken. There was a nice older couple and they sat with there drinks and patiently waited to get their order taken. They ended up just leaving. Your best marketing is your customers. This is a loving place and it was sad they didn't get to try the amazing food. With that said please give it a try you won't regret it. read more

This place was amazing and the portions were great for the cost. I had the Beet Salad and when I asked the waitress she said it was one of their top dishes at lunch time. My two friends ordered the Pesto Chicken Sandwich (which is what I will order when I return another time. My other friend ordered the Sausage Sandwich. She said it had a good flavor but needed a mayo topping of some added sauce which can be easily added. Last but not least, the decor was beautiful. They are awaiting their liquor license in a couple of weeks which will make the dining experience even better. Before: Read all the reviews,best middle and worst. We went before the dinner hour, around after 4 o'clock. Nice time, no crowds. There are two TV's on the walls running with out sound. There was music playing, altho for me it was too loud. I asked our server "does the owner like the music running that loud" She answered "yes". Server was nice and pleasant. The place appeared clean, organized and neat. I had clam spaghetti, wife had chicken picatta. I thought mine was very good, tasty, with a lot of clams and more than I should have eaten. Absolutely Amazing. The Ms stopped in for a late lunch. The staff was friendly and a pleasure. Now for the food - I had the Chicken Florentine (which I have never had before, but the pics and menu description sounded good) and it was great and took enough home for a second meal. Nona's Restaurant I normally would not write a review like this, but I was so frustrated. I was gonna lose my cool with the waitress that we had. I've been to this establishment multiple times and every time I try to give a mom and Pop restaurant the benefit of the doubt but every time we go, their service is horrible. They don't train their staff what so ever on customer service at all. So my daughter came home from Seattle for her birthday weekend to be with family and she really wanted pasta from their restaurant. She really liked it a lot the last time she was home but the service wasn't so great and I told her it's a new place so let's give it a chance. So I made reservations I brought a cake and I told our waitress when we got there can you please put the cake in the freezer? It's an ice cream cake. She's proceeded to tell me sure no problem so after we had dinner, it was two hours later they brought the cake out and the cake is completely melted then she proceeds to tell me would you like me to put it back in the freezer? I was about to lose it . Management didn't come out to give me any explanation or to say sorry worst customer service ever. I went in today and got the Trio (lasagna, Alfredo and pesto). All of them were really good. Nothing was included with the meal but Bread. I kinda thought that a cup of soup or side salad would be included, but No! I really wanted the garlic bread that was shown in previous posts, but the give you some kind of bun with a plastic ramikin of butter w/garlic. Just not the same.
