For several days now I've been craving Sichuan cuisine that features spicy noodles. I instantly thought of Noodle Street as I remember eating the really spicy noodles soup here. Three years ago, I came here and ordered a take-out, savory braised chicken noodle and a side of braised egg. Unfortunately, when I got home, I found that the braised egg was missing, even though I got charged for it (around $1.50). I didn't want to drive all the way back since it's about 8 miles away. I was pretty annoyed, but I also didn't feel like complaining to the restaurant about one piece of whole egg. So, I just decided not to ever go back....for three years. Lol Until last week, I developed a strong craving for the savory braised chicken noodle ($15.80). I remember it being really spicy that I almost couldn't eat it. I let my cravings linger for a few days. Finally, I decided to go to Noodle Street in Monrovia after getting groceries at a nearby Trader Joe's. I ordered the exact same thing, minus the braised egg of course. The wait was only ten minutes as the restaurant was empty, being past 9 pm. I just went next door to Vons to buy a couple of things to kill time. Monday night the restaurant closes at 10 pm. The noodles were packed separately from the chicken and soup. This dish comes with braised chicken thighs, boiled potatoes, red and green bell peppers, onions, and my favorite part, the black fungus / wood ear mushrooms. The mushrooms were the first thing i finished. Literally, I was digging for more mushrooms. The braised chicken pieces were very tender and tasted overcooked. Maybe that's how they're supposed to be. This dish is supposed to come with knife cut noodles (which I really like). However, this time around I really wanted to try the triangle noodles. The owner let me substitute for triangle noodles. They taste a lot like udon noodles to me, so next time I'm definitely going back to knife cut noodles, which are bigger cut of noodles. The soup base is numbing mala spice. This time the soup wasn't as spicy as my last purchase from 3 years ago, which makes it more edible. Still pretty spicy though. Whenever I drank cold water, I felt the numbing sensation on my tongue that lasted about ten seconds. My guess is that from the mala spice/peppercorns. I have come here during lunch hour while it was really busy. A nice size restaurant, not small and not big. The lighting is good, not dark and not super bright. They have a huge parking lot in that shopping complex, as they share it with Chase, Vons, Blaze Pizza, to name a few. Spacious parking spaces, if you own a big car or SUV. They offer a good variety of noodles, mostly come with beef. Since I don't eat beef or lamb, I wish they offered more chicken dishes. read more

Came here on a rainy day and the hot noodle soups totally hit the spot. It's a small hole-in-the-wall, but service was quick and efficient. The beef was super tender and the broth was rich and delicious. We also ordered the bulgogi rice which was great as well! The garlic green beans were flavorful and cooked just right. I love coming to this location. The staff always greet us warmly and go out of their way to ensure we are well taken care of. I recently visited with my family to enjoy some freshly made noodles. We ordered the Cha Shu pork fried rice, Beef Pancakes, Spicy Noodle soup and pan fried dumplings. The spicy noodle soup was the perfect combo of spicy and flavorful. The noodles were cooked to perfection, not too soggy and not too chewy. I've never tried anything like the beef pancakes. They were wrapped in a crispy pancake type roll and the cilantro was so flavorful! The pan fried dumplings were very tasty and the Cha Shu fried rice was one of the best I have tried. Service was exceptional!! Our server was very helpful in choosing the right noodles for our soup. She checked on us constantly to make sure we didn't need anything else. Ambiance - Super clean and well kept! It has a simple look to it with pictures/canvases of noodle making steps on the wall. The ceiling fixtures have a black steel grate sort of look to it with those "retro" (not sure what to call it) lightbulbs. It's a nice place to come eat at! They played pretty chill music too, nothing super bumping. There's also a big window towards the back to look into the kitchen and see the chefs working. Service - Polite, helpful, and friendly. They promptly took our order upon letting us get seated and giving us a little time to look at the menu. I also heard them help out another table and clarified how the order of food comes out. Food - I got the Egg with tomato noodles! I chose the knife cut but I think any of the other noodles would've been better here as the knife cut tends to have smaller more broken strand lengths. I usually like that but not with this dish! The chewiness of the noodle was spectacular though :) Very nice but still soft enough as well. The dish was super flavorful! A great balance of sweet and tangy and just enough savoriness with the egg. I usually think this can be made too sweet sometimes but it's just right here. Crispy tofu was a great appetizer!!! I loved it. Having it cut into little cubes like that is great because you can easily get that crunch but still retain a bit of fluffiness inside. You have the option to choose between: standard round, small flat, triangle or knife cut. I prefer the knife cut, it was chewiest option and it was perfect! This is my go to place for noodles! I love their fresh hand pulled noodles (you can even see them making them through the window)! They have great appetizers lunch as the scallion pancake, beef roll, cumin lamb skewers and wontons. I've tried the soup noodles and stir fry noodles- both have always been delicious! You can't go wrong with the beef noodle soup, a classic dish. Their Dan Dan noodle is also one of my favorite dishes. But if you're new to this place, all my friends favorite is their beef roll. The crispiness of the roll wrapped over beef and fresh garnishes is perfection. Even if it's a full house, the wait time for food to arrive is always reasonable. It's a simple restaurant with lots of seating with a large window of the kitchen space. The hand pulled noodles are always fun to watch for the kids and any newcomer! I've been to Noodle St a couple times and I can't seem to love it. Cucumber salad is always good. Scallion Pancake is also always good. We got the potato string shrimp, that's also really good. Last time I got the noodle soup which was mostly noodle and really plain, not really worth the price. This place is known for their handmade noodles that they literally make in front of you and I love the freshness and the chewiest noodles but again, not too impressed with the menu. I was so happy to see Noodle St open up in my area, right on Foothill Blvd, next to the Vons I shop for groceries! I've been to other locations before but the experience at this Monrovia location tops all the rest! The food, the welcoming staff, and the perfect interior space with comfy seats. What more could a gal ask for? This Noodle St location is by far my favorite. I got the Signature Beef Noodle $14.50, Spring Cold Noodle $13.50, Pan Fried Dumplings $8.80, and Juicy Pork Buns $12.80 to share. The portions are just BIGGER here and the flavors exceeded my expectations. All these dishes stood out by itself and everything from the noodle texture 拉面 (la-mian) to the toppings to the dumpling wrap was great! If you didn't know, you can get your noodles in different sizes - from round, flat, triangle and knife-cut shapes. My favorite is knife-cut! Our server was especially nice, too, and it made my party all the more happy to be there. This Noodle St is definitely a gem in Monrovia and I recommend everyone to try this to get an authentic and delicious noodle or 拉面 (la-mian) - its all hand-made here! Needed a quick bite before driving back home & stumbled upon this delicious gem. The service the minute we walked in was very attentive and we ordered take out. Although the clean, large, nice restaurant was filled, the servers served us quickly. We will definitely eat here but inside when we have more time. The dumplings were freshly made as the dough was perfectly put together mixed with the filling of chicken and sauce on the outside was a juicy delectable bite! I used to go to the Eastvale location in the past, but I came to this Monrovia location with my family. We ordered beef roll pancakes and pork buns as usual. The food was just as good as every other noodle st location, but the service wasn't nearly as good when we came here this time. The host was very nice but the server with the ponytail kept ignoring us when we were waiving her over for help and she was unwelcoming and unfriendly during our visit. We also ordered water right when we sat down and she forgot them until halfway through our meal. Overall this store was in a convenient location but I just wish the service was better. read more

I drove all the way from inland empire, about 45mins to try this place and I knew my trip was not wasted. The noddles being made in-house gave the impression that we were in for a delicacy. I ordered the Spicy Beef Noodles, let me tell you! I still dream about that first bowl. The beef was so tender and flavorful it falls apart in your mouth. The chewy fresh tasting egg noodles adds a satisfying texture and lastly the rich spicy broth gives a depth to the dish. I've been a loyal customer of Noodle St since they opened, but lately, my experiences have been disappointing. We ordered takeout tonight, and the spicy beef noodle soup was the worst I've ever had. The five tiny tiny pieces of beef that were put in the container were all gristle and the tiny bit of meat that was even on the piece was so tough and inedible. After a long day of LA adventures, my date and I decided to get take-out for dinner so we can be a little lazy. Neither of us were in the mood for anything in particular, and somehow we ended up picking Noodle St - Monrovia. We weren't too hungry since we had some snacks earlier, so my date suggested we get a noodle dish and a dumplings dish to share. He phoned in the order to be time efficient, so sexy, and went with their Signature Beef Noodle Soup ($14.50) and their Juicy Pork Buns ($12.80). Their estimated time was 15-20 minutes for the order to be ready. Plenty of parking available in this plaza. The inside looks really clean and modern, with a decent amount of customers for a Monday night. Our food was ready when we got there. I like that the staff checks your name and phone number, and re-reads your order to make sure they give you the right order. I also appreciated the packaging. The soup was kept separate from the noodles and had an extra bag around it to prevent spills. The only weird thing is that they only gave us one set of utensils for these two portions. I think the portion is good for the pricing. There was definitely some user error, which I will completely own up to. I put in too much of their chili/chili oil concoction into the Signature Beef Noodle Soup... like so spicy I had to go wash my lips after eating. And my date was just sweating, but ate the food like a champ. My bad... Sorrrryyyyy!! Basically don't put in all the chili they give you. Just go a little at a time if you're doing take out. The dumplings were not juicy as imagined, or compared to other xiao long bao spots. Din Tai Fung is still the best. It might be due to the nature of take out so I'm not docking points on that, but we also thought it was strangely sweet. My date also had to cut up extra ginger since the amount provided wasn't enough. I think I'm being very fair with this review giving the nature of take out and my user error. It was a hot summer day in Los Angeles and the perfect solution for that was the Qinghai Clear Cold Noodle + the Beef Roll Pancake!! The cold noodle was refreshing and packed with flavor and texture. It was so delicious that I wanted to look up the recipe so I can make it myself. The dish has flour based clear noodles, Chinese chives, garlic, tofu, and chili sauce. I would definitely order again. The service was great too. My cousin and I came during the afternoon on a weekday so it wasn't busy and got sat down immediately. She did a review not too long ago, and she's right, the parking situation is much better at this location than the Pasadena location. In Pasadena, you're going to have to pay for parking. Public parking in Pasadena are $1 for 3 hours on certain parking lots. Monrovia location is in a strip mall with tons of free parking. And this location of Noodle St. has items the other locations doesn't have like Kimchee fried rice and Korean beef bowl. This is a Taiwanese restaurant, so I was a bit surprised to see those Korean food items. This is the best location because A) Parking is abundant & B) More variety in the menu. read more

Every single time I go, I tell myself, "I need to write a review," but I kept pushing it off. I've been a regular for years, and every visit has been fantastic. I've been to other locations of Noodle St, but the Monrovia one really stands out for its super friendly and quick service. Every dish on the menu is great. Whether it's the egg with tomato noodles, the signature beef noodles, or fried rice, they're always perfect. I miss eating their spring cold noodle in the warmer season (which isn't on the menu anymore), but I never leave disappointed.
