My favourite order at The Noodle Box is the Black Bean and Garlic Tofu stir fry. It comes with tofu, hokkein noodles, bean sprouts, garlic, peppers, and some greens that I couldn't identify but are still dee-lish. The portions are gigantic, enough for 2 seperate meals. Unless you're a big dude or have a bottomless stomach. The only problem I've had with the food is how awful it is after re-heating. I don't know what happens to the flavour after a brief refrigeration but it's um.. not good. They also use adorable takeout containers! So awesome! For $2 extra you can get brown rice instead. Also there are bottles of sriracha on every table. Or "East Van Ketchup" if you prefer. read more

I almost feel hypocritical giving Noodle Box only three stars as I have dined here on a number of occasions and don't necessarily plan to stop. I will say the fact that it is so conveniently located to my home is most of the reason. Noodle Box epitomizes the height of capitalizing on the pan-asian cool trend while making a lot of money doing it. It's hip beats and bright green walls could attract anyone walking down the streets of 4th avenue on a weekday night - not to mention the alluring waft of garlic/chili/black bean scents pumping out the door. The prices, ($10-15) I still can't help but feel are too high everytime i carry my little take out, stomach sized box home, Especially since at the end of the day it's really just Asian street noodles, which are as cheap as they come. Moreover, the service is outstandingly slow. I kid you not, the wait is often 40-50 minutes AFTER you order. I highly recommend calling in ahead of time. Finally, there are something like 7 levels of heat they Noodle Box uses in their spice barometer, when in fact there are actually just 2. It is running joke myself and my noodle box going partner have had for a while. Mild Medium is totally mild, tasteless, totally bland whereas the next step Medium is fire engine, screaming, please-take-me-to-the-hospital-or-the-toilet hot. And I'm a fan of heat! Since this has been the case for some time now and likely it will not change, I recommend going with a friend, getting a dish at each level and mixing the two. This experiment has rendered excellent results in my experience. My favourites remain the garlic Black Bean and Chili Plum. Be warned, the Thai Spicy Peanut is more like a dry, sauce-less, saltier version, still good though. read more

Okay, so I did go back. My 'vegetarian companion' dragged me back in. (Turns out she doesn't particularly enjoy the title 'vegetarian companion'. I suggested 'Baroness Von Shnizzllepants' instead. I took her laughter as as yes.) So, Baroness Von Shnizzleplants dragged me back into Noodle Box, and what a different experience. My too-cool-for-school, i'll-take-your-order-when-i-feel-like-it server was nowhere in sight. Instead, we felt welcomed, and I also left with a better understanding of the 65 different degress of 'hot'. Mild-medium was a little bit too hot for the Baroness, but I will be venturing into the red zone on my next visit. And yes, I WILL be back thanks to improved service experience. Oh, and like the typical pain-in-the-ass I am, we changed our minds to stay, and I asked if we could have it in bowls instead of the to-go boxes. Even tho it was super-busy, it was noo problem at all. Black and Bean and Garlic with chicken for me - prawns for BVS. Both were delicious and the bill was 21 dollars. This is the second time I've been to this location and I must say, I typically don't write reviews, this place is bad. Place only had two customers when we arrived and it took over 20 minutes for an order of curry noodles and a kids chow mein. My curry noodles were swimming in a mixture of oil and sauce and my sons chow mein was filled with the inedible butts of cabbage. With a can of ginger ale my bill totalled $24.17 before tip. Outrageously expensive for such poor quality. Most of it was thrown out. read more

I was introduced by a friend that lives in Kits....she suggested it on a shopping spree to 4th one day and she totally had me at "noodles"...right away I loved it...love the simple urban cafeteria style....the music was really great and the patrons had a great vibe...now the food...I don't like really spicy food so I like that they give you spiciness options..although..I had like the least spiciest option and it still kicked the shit out of my taste buds...but after a while you don't even notice 'cause its just the tasty...oh..I had the Jungle Curry with chicken and I agree with Noa G...AMAZING... I love their Thai style chow mien dish they have. It's all I've ever ordered from Noodle box. I wish I would have tried something else but it's so good I couldn't help but order it every time. A few things that bugged me about this place is the water they have for you is piss warm. You need a lot of water to cool down your tongue because every time I ordered medium as my spice level its been very inconsistent from not really spicy to oh god I need more piss warm water. Another thing is that they charge 50 cents for any modifications that you make to your dish. My girlfriend wanted some extra cilantro and for me an extra slice of lime and they wanted 50 cents each. Some of the waitresses didn't mind waiving the fee maybe because its really about 4 cents more of ingredient. read more

What a fun spot to grab lunch. It was really busy, but we still got our delicious noodles in time for my friend to make it back to work in her lunch hour. It's a South-East Asian noodle bar so you can find all your spicy favourites from Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia and Singapore. I went for a Spicy Peanut Noodle Box with prawns ($12.50) and usually spicy means my mouth will be slightly warmed. So I asked for extra spicy. I was warned, but I went through with it. I had a firey surprise when the dish was actually really hot! It was great. I would recommend if you want to enjoy the flavours, not just the burn, to keep with their recommended level of spice. The down side is that there is no table service and during the busy lunch rush it's hard to find a seat. We had to clear our own table before we were able to sit down, and we ate at the table without it being washed. But I'd do it again in a heartbeat to get my spice fix! read more

I've eaten here twice, once dine in and once to go. I had the vegetarian chow mein. I asked and paid for extra veggies. It did not come with it. So I had to complain and they made another one for me. It doesn't really have veggies to start with, so it's a little pricey to pay for extra veggies, just to get a few aside from bean sprouts. The sauce was lacklustre, it was nothing special. I wished I had ordered a different one. Next time for take out I spent a while deciding, but had heard the Garlic black bean sauce was good, so I tried that. Although I was surprised and a little impressed to have actual black beans in it, the sauce was again lacklustre. There wasn't much flavour to it. I ordered it mild because I don't enjoy spicy food. At home, I added some peanut butter because it was bland, and 2 I was starving and with a few veggies and rice noodles it wasn't enough to fill me up. My husband ordered the Singapore noodles hot at 7 and it was way too spicy for him. He should have known better, but he threw half of it out he was getting hiccups it was so hot and could barely eat it! lol. Say medium if you like spicy or you'll probably regret it. We live down the street from here, and while I like the idea, it is just too expensive and bland for what you get. I have all the same ingredients at home anyways so we make our own now. Vegans beware you may still be hungry after your ration of veggies and rice noodles... I'm sure everyone else who says they are stuffed or it's two meals got meat in their box. read more

I heard about this place through a friend and I decided to bring my mom here for lunch. We ordered the Cambodian Spring Rolls (which were okay, there was some kind of herb in it {maybe kaffir leaves or mint} that made the spring roll very pungent tasting which I didnt like too much) and the Thai Style Chow Mein (which we absolutely LOVED!) The service is amazing here, its extremely clean, pricing is reasonable, the food comes fast and the portions are great! My mom and I shared our dish because it would have been too much if we had one each. The only thing I wish I could change is is the fact that maybe they could get some small cups for all the delicious condiments they have? I had to keep getting up to get more sriracha hot sauce :( Despite that, everything else was awesome, will be back to try some of the other delicious items on the menu! read more

Went with friends after hearing decent word of mouth. Very busy on a Saturday night, but the table availability do rotate out pretty fast. Ordered the green curry with tofu + Spring Rolls. The protein portion isn't relatively large but it was enough to fill me up for the entire night. Service is efficient, and what you would expect from a noodle box vending restaurant! This location is the worst. They're constantly unprepared. Constantly out of product. Whoever does their ordering is blowing it. They also send their phone to voicemail when they're 'too busy' and then when you walk in it's completely empty. I can see where people would love this type of "Asian-fusion" food, but at the same time, there is so much better out there. And if not better, then at least a lot less expensive. This place is certainly non-Asian friendly. But I'll stick with my real Singaporean curries and other various noodles and real flavours. Service was friendly, decor was decent, the boxes were (in my opinion) stereotypically offensive, and the food is laughable. I was raised with Asian food, and I will die eating real Asian food. What? You call this yummy? Ya okay sure, whatever. After months and months of having passed by this joint Downtown and in Kits once a friend invited me for dinner there I couldn't say no as my taste buds were curious. I got the noodle with chicken and medium spicy...I have to say it was a bit overwhelming with all the vegetables and nuts. But not that different from a stir fry at your local chinese or Malaysian spot. I hate to rain on everyone's parade, but I don't really like this place. Mostly because most of the items on the menu are just noodles and veggies, which I could easily make at home. When I took my sis here who was visiting from out of town our food was cold and not the best, however when we told the waitress, she gave us some free onion spring cake things to make it up to us, and they were yummy. I am OBSESSED with noodle box! My fiance and I order Noodle Box on the lazy days where we do not want to cook! We used to live in Kits and we would order from this noodle box all the time! Since I do not eat spicy food, i always get the Pad Thai. It is sooooooooooooooooo good!!! My fiancee always gets the red curry and we always order the shrimp lettuce wraps. I LOVE this place. I started frequenting this joint ages ago on Fisgard st. in Victoria. Tried it's location on Douglas st. in Victoria. Moved to Vancity and instantly hit this place up in Kits. And now?? HOMER st?! Fan-freakin-tastic. Not so much for my wallet though. I do find this place expensive but I think it's because I am capable of eating an enitre box of stirfly, noodles, or curry in one sitting...at extra hot!...and still want more, regardless of how much my stomach hates me due to both heat and over-filling. So the price adds up quickly. Their menu has expanded substantially since the early days in Victoria but I'm not yet prepared to abandon my love affair with the basic noodle boxes to try much else. read more

I used to go to Noodle Box in Victoria before they expanded to Vancouver. I loved it, I would eat half and take half on the ferry and everyone with their White Spot burgers was totally jelly of my chinese take out box and delicious delicious stir fry. We used to frequent the Kits and Homer locations but my tastes must have changed because I don't love it like I used to. There are so many other options I guess, and I feel like you can get the same kind of food elsewhere for much cheaper. Two of us get the no carb addition, and add two beers, and it's as much as a nice meal at a sit down place. Still... I will return. FYI - the Kits location doesn't have draught beer but the Homer one does. The Homer location is also much nicer for eating in than Kits. read more

I've always been impressed with the food - the price, the portion, the flavour, the speed at which it comes out, and the variety of things included in their dishes (it's not just noodles and sauce or noodles and protein, but you can actually find vegetables... yay!). I sometimes get a craving for this place and am always happy to accompany a friend to eat there. Things that would take my 4 stars to 5 stars? - more seating! Sometimes really hard to find a seat there - more friendly service - I sometimes get the feel that the cashiers are looking down their nose at me... they're also a little slow at clearing off tables and ensuring their clean for the next guest to sit down at. - more parking! Great asian fusion restaurant for Kits. Can be very busy so I usually order takeout, and call my order in so I don't have to wait around. Eating in is fine, just a little frenetic noisy/busy vibe. Share your table when necessary. I always order the same thing: MALAY STYLE FRIED RICE (Nasi Goreng) and it's always really good. I think I get medium spicy but be careful as they are not kidding about the heat value. Hot/very hot would wipe me out. This order always results in 2 or 3 servings for me so a pretty good value. The other menu items look tasty so I will try to be more adventuresome on my next visit. read more

Got the Singaporean Cashew Curry yesterday - very yummy! $13 seemed a bit steep at first but you have to remember they include the HST in their posted prices so once that is taken into account the price is reasonable. Great location, friendly staff and speedy food (considering it is cooked fresh). I took it on transit from Kits all the way out to my boyfriend's place in Burnaby and it stayed warm in their to go containers which was quite the shocker to me. The food at this place is really great! Be careful of the hotness of the food you choose though. I love hot food and the medium hotness has more than enough for me. I've been here a few times and the food never disappoints. The last time I went I went with the gluten free option which meant got a whole lot more veggies but no noodles or rice (which kind of defeats the purpose of a noodle place) and it was delicious and HUGE! Too much food for 1 seating. I'll definitely be back and can recommend this place. read more
