For someone that has eaten here countless times... I have to say that the delivery food has to be cooked somewhere else, it just has to be. Today was my 3rd time ordering delivery in the last year and there's been issues with every order. Today my son's country fried steak was tough (I had to use a cutting knife) and he only ate a few pieces, the batter came off s a whole (it completely peeled off) . One our way back to Houston today (3/17) we found this little gem of a place. The food was delicious and filling (again forgot to take a picture). Hubby had the meat lovers omelette and the kids and I had the Belgian waffles. They we light and fluffy. Gizmo was out waitress her service was friendly, welcoming, and delightful. i used to come here ever since i was a little kid and the atmosphere hasn't changed a bit i love how they stayed homey after all this time. recently after many years of not visiting, i had my boyfriend come here for some of our anniversaries and after he decided every friday for about 3 weeks he wanted to eat there and thats what we did. we would get chicken tenders and macaroni and he says the macaroni is super good but i prefer the mashed potatoes and green beans more. the rolls are also so good and soft on the inside i love them! the service is also usually fast if its not a weekend, if its a weekend it will be slow but it's understandable because normas gets busy. read more

The best food we ate during our long weekend visiting Dallas! Norma's is a Dallas staple and it's easy to see why. Our AirBnB hosts recommended Norma's so we made it our first stop for breakfast. Food was good overall. Perhaps not quite the level of the Yelp hype, but this is subjective. The fried green tomatoes (and their sauce) was surprisingly delicious. Kudos for the server who recommended it when I asked about it. The chicken fried steak also was good, although slightly rubbery (same for the sides--tasty but not quite so fresh). Free side cornbread was a highlight, however. The server I had was efficient, observant (quick with the waters even when I didn't ask for them), and generally pleasant. I will admit, however, that her having 5-10 min. mini convos with nearby tables (but just quick responses to me) seemed a little jarring--hence, slightly less welcoming in the space than it could have been. Again, subjective and I'm sure those other tables loved the service. In my case, however, more just mid-level excitement for this experience. read more

No frills, nothing fancy, just regular diner food. I will say while the servers are generally amazing the wait can sometimes be too long. It's frequented by a lot of older people and families seem to linger for a long time which makes their limited seating an even bigger issue. Also most things are made to order and the cooks have a lot of food to prepare. Overall I like the food. read more

What a good place to go after the zoo! Our server was nice and friendly and did a great job. The menu is extensive but I decided on Texas Frito pie. It was left under the heater too long cuz the cheese was overcooked and a lot of the chips were burned but once I got through that layer it was good. This place is exactly as you'd imagine a place called Norma's. Homey and classic American Diner. My server was a kindly and sassy older woman who really added a touch if personality to the place. And the food was pretty good. I ordered the western omelette with a side of sausage patties. The omelette was fluffy although I would've liked a bit more veggie and ham stuffing, or at least have them on top of the omelette as well like some places do the sausage patties were also pretty thick and juicy, they were delectable. What I've never reviewed this place? I grew up in Oak Cliff and the place opened the year I was born. However, until about 10 years ago I hadn't been here. They have typical diner food selection such as meat loaf, chicken fried steak etc Breakfast all day. Everything is delicious and this is the best part. They make pies from scratch onsite and they are fantastic. Hole in the wall originals like this are an in danger species So I recommend you get over there and have an Experience. Stopped in for a brunch around 11:30 on a weekday. Parking was challenging - the lot is not set in a way with easy in and out so we parked in front of houses on the side street. Once we entered, it looks like a traditional diner set up with the booths, tables and bar area. There was no hostess but the servers acknowledged us and let us know to sit anywhere. I was immediately excited because one of their shirts said there is no such thing as too much bacon... I thought, that is a good sign! Once seated, we were greeted by our server promptly. Once the drinks arrived, I was a bit turned off that the orange juice was a single serving bottle of oj that I could have bought at the grocery store- no cup/no ice. Another thing, because we were a bit rushed for time on a workday- from sitting down and ordering- it took 45 minutes to get our food. That said, they were busy - but I would have allotted more time had I known it was going to take that long. It is a smaller space with booths aligned very closely, so you can hear the other tables conversations because you are back to back... it didn't bother me as much but could see where it would affect someone's experience if they are sensitive to noise. I ordered a BLT with an egg added and my partner ordered the omelet breakfast with a single pancake- and decided to get a cinnamon roll to share. I was hoping for a stack of bacon but it sadly only came with a couple of pieces and was a bit lackluster considering the Texas toast was the majority of the sandwich. Fries were slightly undercooked/hard as well. The omelet plate arrived - but they said they would have to come back with the pancake. It arrived nearly 10 minutes into the meal - which wasn't ideal. The star of the show was the cinnamon roll... it was really good! Thick, sweet- perfect consistency. As we were leaving, it was pretty packed to make our way out so the spot is definitely a local favorite. This is a real American diner! It is always packed and busy. The food is good ole comfort food. We just adore going there as a reward every Sunday. We miss it so much during this pandemic.
