Fried Pickles were salty but the ranch was divine. Rhubarb and strawberry pie was tart. Brown gravy get it! Side dishes were excellent recommend mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese and green beans. Chicken fried chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked. Service and tea was excellent! It's one of the rare pie shops that still use a meringue on the top.

Loved Norma's!! You have to go here for breakfast if you are in the area. It is the cutest diner spot with the nicest staff AND amazing food! They have an extremely expansive menu and everything we ordered was amazing! They make in house biscuits and they were INCREDIBLE. You can seat yourself here and they have a variety of booths, tables, and countertop seating! Everything was super fresh and made to order. You can tell they are making everything from scratch and the vibe in here matched that! 10/10

Having a craving for a burger, and with my husband desiring chicken fried chicken, we decided to visit Norma's Cafe during our drive around town. We picked up our takeout order and enjoyed our meal at home. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the burger! I certainly did not anticipate it being so substantial. The meal was quite delicious, and the fries were also enjoyable. I would certainly recommend this establishment if you are seeking a generously sized burger. It was quite satisfying and eliminated the need for another meal for the remainder of the day. First impression not bad at all, keep up the great work!!

    Over cooked bacon

well, this is the second time I've been in there in a long time. The first time I went I ordered the normal special or breakfast. I ordered three eggs. I paid extra for one ask for Hamm hashbrowns English muffin when I got my order, the eggs were not fixed away. I asked him to be over late. They come out over medium cold so I called the and told her what all happened. She said she put my name in the book next time I come in to let her know that I was there and they fix everything right when in this morning on The I believe it's the 30th of May around 8:00 AM and I ordered the same thing. I ordered three eggs over them to put them on the hashbrowns. I ordered the English muffin and when the order came out, there was only two eggs on my order, they were cold. They were over medium. They were over, medium the hash brown for cold. The ham was not even lukewarm, and I added an extra egg which I didn't get. I told him it because as cold as it when they delivered be cold every time I got the the manager that I had before never came to the table to talk to me about anything and I asked for and told she said she had my name in her book Ken and I went and I told the waitress when she the manager here she pointed over to the I said well she told me next time I come in to tell her I was here. My name is Ken and she has me in her book. She never came by. She never said anything about what it happened so you know this is not a good way has changed actually got worse. I don't blame the waitress because all she can do is put the order in. I can't help can't read or don't care about the or won't do the job like they're supposed to was very way we were treated the bacon that we ordered order of bacon that we ordered for my grandson was so up that when you've been into it just felt was just overcooked and he it and I so I'm but I cannot give this a very good review anymore at all, and the manager doesn't the cooks don't care there's no customer service in that place. Somebody needs to hold of this and change the way that operates. I'm not used to eating cold food. I don't pay those high prices for cold and neither should anybody else if you have any respect for your customers. thank you I really don't expect to hear from anybody, but if you care, maybe you'd like to contact me and get the truth about what's going on in there

Super cute diner vibes. Ordered to go and was ready on time. Super delicious breakfast. Can't wait to come back

Ordered two orders of Chicken fried chicken and an extra side of gravy through DoorDash. The order came without gravy, not on the main dishes and neither did we receive the extra side of gravy. DoorDash offered a $4.00 credit on a $40 dollar offer. Completely unacceptable.

Then the chicken fried steak was solid with the green beans and mashed potatoes being the stars of that dish. However my fish sandwich came out with raw in the center. After sending it back I waited a solid 15-20 minutes for another sandwich and it was cooked bone dry. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely not as the flavor was not there. Then we ended the meal with the fried butter cake. It is exactly what it sounds like and was quite mushy. Overall it did not mesh well together in my opinion. I feel that the porch definitely does deserve a repeat visit from me as I do not believe this rating is fully representative of what this restaurant offers. At first, I was a little hesitant because the menu is fairly small, but after my meal, I can see why. Every dish we ordered was absolutely a 10/10. I do want to start with the positives. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, and provided excellent service. The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.

Often times after it's all said & done, you wonder - was that worth it? Thankfully, that is NOT the experience I had at Haywire! I ate here on August 9th, 2025 and enjoyed everything about it. I was with a large party but would love to return for a more intimate experience. On this Saturday, my younger cousin was graduating from Parker University so I was in town for the weekend. At around 1pm, I was one of the first to arrive at the restaurant. Unfortunately the parking is a bit confusing. There was construction being done on the same street when I went but there's a parking garage for customers that's difficult to navigate AND the elevator that connects wasn't operating at the time which was an issue for many (but not me, I got a good spot & walked). My party hadn't all arrived yet so I took a gander. Upon entering the tall doors, the space breathes southwestern elegance: wooden structure, leather seating, separate dining areas with highlighted ranch-style art. The abundance of space gives it an open-concept feel. The lighting fixtures are modern, the space was dim but not too low, with an option to utilize the large windows also. I was quiet impressed at the overall presentation. When my party did arrive, I wanted to keep it simple so I ordered the Chicken Cobb Salad and a Hibiscus Haze with Vodka. The table shmoozed as we ate some of the appetizers: the Crab Dip & Green Tomatoes, both amazing. The food did take some time but, considering it was 10-12 of us, that's expected. The Hibiscus Haze was splendid: smooth & flavorful, a great concoction. Cobb salads are usually pretty thick but this one was HEARTY. It came in a large bowl stuffed with the all the toppings. The dressing it was tossed with was well balanced but could've used a tad bit more. With some pepper & a little ranch, I was set! I defeated the salad but it also left me stuffed to the gills. Satisfying meal that I would order again! There are tons of restaurants to dine at in Dallas & sometimes you never know which is worth your time. Despite the inconvenience of parking, I'd bet my bottom dollar that this is a good place to eat. Whether you want a fine dining experience, it's a special occasion or just want a good drink with a meal, Haywire has enough to satisfy all interests.

WILL NEVER BE BACK!…read more HATED. EVERY. MOMENT. OF. THIS. PISS. POOR. EXPERIENCE. EVERY. SINGLE. MOMENT. VALET. NOT. FREE. I called before deciding where to eat on a Sunday afternoon to confirm parking situations. Parking is not easy downtown so this played a huge factor in figuring where, out of the dozens of brunch places, to eat. Definitely a bit of a walk to get accommodated at the actual restaurant so valet seemed the most reasonably enticing for parking solutions. Well, I called and spoke with the lady at the front desk. I confirmed with this little girl FOUR TIMES IF 1. They had valet available today 2. If it was complimentary. Come to find out it was not complimentary. And $7 for parking just doesn't sit well with me when there are ample free options else where with satisfying beverage, meal, ambiance, and service. All of which, I DID NOT GET AT HAYWIRE. I come in and although I had a reservation that I was 10 minutes early for while noticing tables available, I was told by that same girl who lied to me about parking I needed to take a seat. Reassuring me that it would only take two minutes to be seated. 10 minutes later I see coupled and groups walking in and guess what? They were immediately sat. While I am waiting to be sat at one of the three clean tables I'm staring at. I finally tell my boyfriend I am about to eat at the bar and he goes to the hostess stand to inform them our frustration and guess what? We were sat immediately. I get seated and there are two standing fans placed next to my table that's blowing my hair all over the f*****g place. I had to tell them to turn them off. What? No AC in this place either?? We immediately ordered and got the elk tacos for an appetizer. The tacos are WAY too spicy and way too salty. Too spicy AND too salty?? They're a no for me. You literally can't taste anything because of both! I HATED these little tacos. Probably the worst I've ever had. Ever seen someone attempt to pinch a bit of salt to season and the entire top comes off?? These tacos. My boyfriend had the chicken fried steak. He loved it (loves spicy and seasonings because he's Cajun) but I tried it and it was over seasoned. Again? Couldn't taste what I was eating. The mashed potatoes were divine. Enjoyed those! And then the green beans were tasteless. Hahaha what a joke. I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles and it was literally too spicy to eat. Inedible. My eyes teared up, my nose started running, and I couldn't taste anything after a couple bites of the spice. I was so f*****g over this place I just ate my boyfriend's mashed potatoes and we left. If I had it my way, I wouldn't have paid for a thing here. They don't deserve our money and I HATE they got a cent from me. I'm livid. I hate this place W I L L N E V E R B E B A C K
