Omg, our church went to eat here today after church and it was my first time eating there. Let me tell you Javier our waitress had a whole section of about 45 people and they all came from our church and he did the whole back section by himself. And as far as the wait time for our food, soon as he sent the order in on his handheld, our food was coming out not even 10 minutes later, and the food was absolutely delicious, and it was hot and ready. You know how sometimes you go out to eat at a restaurant, well someone is going to complain about something, well out of all the people in our group of 45 or more, no one complained about anything, Javier got every single one of those orders correct. So then by the time we made it home, I was laying in my bed, and I was thinking about how great that chicken and dressing was and so I got on my phone and went online and ordered me some more chicken and dressing and I went and picked it up. So if you just want to go out and eat some home cooked meals, in a very pleasant environment please please go and try Norma's I believe that they have 5 different locations. I've frequented Norma's for over 24 years now. I've noticed changes mostly in the prices (as expected). The food selections and quality have remained constant and reliable. Parking during peak breakfast, lunch, and sometimes dinner hours at the Oak Cliff location can be very limited. At least free parking still exists here. I'm so glad Norma's pie recipes are still the same. Love their chocolate cream pie. A classic! I must also recognize that Norma's is very active in giving back to our community in many ways. They are but a small handful of businesses that treat customers like they should. So nice to continue to receive their e-mail anniversary and birthday perks. It's very nice to rely on Norma's to get a decent burger, club sandwich, chicken strip salad, traditional American breakfast, etc. for fair prices with friendly table and counter service from waitstaff. Norma's Cafe is not the latest, trendiest, or chicest eatery yet IN MY HUMBLE OPINION it continues to thrive as a 5-star, classic American cafe. Well they have expanded and now have 4 locations around the Dallas area.This location is my husbands to go too for good home cooking meals that's not too far from home. This place stays packed and you can seat yourself. When you can find a seat. You have a choice to sit at the bar area they have also. The staff is friendly and they can get a little busy but they seem to have it under control. We both ordered the Pork chops with gravy. My husband loved the gravy. We also ordered a peach cobbler to go. It was very close to mines and my moms. This location has been in Oak Cliff for many moons. It can get really crowded around lunch and on the weekends. My wife and I stopped by Norma's Cafe last night. It was late and few people were there as we ate our omelets and chatted. Then, when we left, we discovered our check had been paid by a couple who also was eating and had departed just before we did. Another random act of kindness in our troubled society. I hope that couple reads this and understands that their kindness gave us a great boost as we were coming from visiting a family member in hospital. Had the pleasure of going on a Sunday morning around 9:45am. Now wait time, seated ourselves at a table . Waiter was courteous ,friendly and gave us time to pick out what we wanted on the menu. I ordered the Spanish omelette with small cup of grits and seasonal fruit(blueberries,bananas,and strawberries) while my girlfriend ordered the Norma's #7 I believe. Food was hot and served fresh. Grits were served plain, butter and condiments(salt,jelly,butter,hot sauce,ketchup ,etc)were on the table for our disposal. Omelette had green peppers,onions(I believe), cheese and salsa on top. Very tasty , and a "bang for your buck" type of meal(big portion). Absolutely I recommend this place. Home style cooking goes on here. They are busy everyday. And it's worth it. June 17, 2020 I just left this establishment without my call-in order because of an employees actions. I was standing in line waiting to pay and pickup my food. There was a couple in line behind me and 1 manahead of me who was being waited on by the cashier. Once the cashier finished with the man ahead of me, she turned to a man who had just walked in the door and was standing at the register and took his order. The was disrespectful of the customers already waiting in line, and I did not appreciate the lack of customer service. I left without my food. Since I've been recently traveling to Dallas in the past 18 months, I've heard over-and-over again about this great 'Norma's Café'... what was all the fuss about?!?! Well, now I know! We stopped in for a late breakfast this past Saturday. Large diner, spread between two dining rooms with a large bar that wraps around 1/2 the restaurant... quite interesting. We were immediately seated. I opted to order the Big Eater's breakfast... o-m-g. wow. So, my breakfast shows up with three eggs (I asked for an additional egg), all cooked to perfection. A slab of hash browns. Wheat toast. 8-oz ribeye steak.... oh yes, AND A CINNAMON ROLL THE SIZE OF A FOOTBALL... no joke, a football. I'm pretty sure this is the largest cinnamon roll I've ever been served. Food was fantastic. Every bite was delicious! LOVED IT! Staff was friendly, attentive and professional. This place gets packed on weekdays so just imagine what the weekends would look like, however the staff seems to be organized and quick to make everyone get seated. They serve you fresh rolls and corn bread while you wait on your order. Everything on the menu is on point so don't worry about what dish you pick! My top favorites would be their steaks with green beans, the taco salad and their ribeye dish. Staff is super nice and attentive. Dallas police dept. usually dines here and volunteers the restaurant which shows how much Norma's cares about the community. This place has been on our radar since last October, and once again didnt disappoint at all. The service is old school at its best, something GenX lacks in on a daily basis...Fast, Friendly and HOT. This trip we had our granddaughter in tow and she is a big breakfast taco fan. Egg and Cheese only and it was Fat and Fresh...with a bit of crust on the tortilla, she Loved it...When we ordered a cinnamon roll to share, she told us she was going to eat the whole thing herself...which is laughable, considering its as big as her face. WOW. Just WOW. Norma's is THE breakfast king in Bishop Arts, Dallas. Their pies are mile high, and their plates just cannot be beat. This is the definition of comfort food. Boyfriend blues? I stopped by Norma's original location (Oak Cliff) on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch (3pm and it was nearly full). I've dined at the Norma's Northpark location previously but this was my 1st visit to the Oak Cliff store. I ordered the fried pork chops which were prepared perfectly- crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. My sides were mashed potatoes, green beans and a side salad with ranch dressing. All the sides were just as pleasing as the entree. I drank unsweet tea which was excellent (great clean, crisp flavor & they serve crushed ice). I noticed they didn't carry a pitcher around for refills- only fresh from the urn in a new glass. I had a delicious cornbread muffin as dessert (which is included with the meal, I just prefer to have mine post meal. My experience was outstanding and I strongly recommend this restaurant based on the excellent service, food quality and nostalgic decor. Finally, I was extremely impressed with their bus staff's attention to detail in cleaning tables after the customers leave. They thoroughly wipe down each table AND seats with a clean disinfecting wipe AND they clean each bottle of ketchup, hot sauce, salt & pepper shakers etc in the condiment caddy. I eat out frequently and I've never seen ANY bus staff in any other restaurant clean a table as thoroughly as they did. I watched and saw both ladies who were bussing tables clean every table the same way. If you're a diner/cafe aficionado like me who enjoys great Southern comfort food, then you'll love Norma's Oak Cliff!! read more

While the food was good the welcome was a bit awkward, there wasn't a hostess in charge of seating ppl even though the sign says "wait to be seated", and then there was confusion over who was my waitress.
