I have always received exceptional service here in the years that I've come almost once a week. A true neighborhood landmark that is run with love. Food is consistently good and tastes like your southern country grandmother whipped it up in the kitchen. It gets busy on weekend mornings, especially Sunday, which is expected. Let me start out by saying: this place is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! I got the breakfast number seven and was a little disappointed when it arrived all mashed together in a bowl instead of on a plate. That disappointment was soon overshadowed by my taste buds rejoicing at the delicious fusion of flavors created by layering biscuits and gravy, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, tomato, cheese, and bacon in a warm bowl. I was quite excited about this diner style joint for breakfast, but was kinda disappointed. The service was great, but the food didn't meet my expectations. My husband got the migas and I got the ol' #7. My husband said his food was lacking flavor and was overall bland. My food was good but I kinda agree with him. It was lacking that pop of flavor. Norma's Cafe will be near and dear to my heart from now on. That was probably the most delicious breakfast I've had in a long time! My girlfriend and I went last Monday morning with no wait. Trevor was our waiter and he was exceptionally attentive and super sweet. I got a Belgian waffle, eggs over medium, bacon, and 2 biscuits. WOW! Biscuit was the best I've ever had. Trevor brought over a cinnamon spread for the waffle and toast that was phenomenal and even offered to grab us some to go! My gf had the hot chocolate... I ended up drinking more than half of it for her! Amazingly rich and creamy. She had the chicken fried steak with eggs and toast. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Only complaint is she wish there was more gravy! She loves the big chunks of sausage in the gravy and the seasoning on the steak which she referred to as "crack" lol. First time going to Norma's. I reluctantly ordered the chicken & dressing, because I had my doubts on if it was going to be right. On top of that due to the place being packed when we went, we ordered our food to go. I am happy to say that the chicken & dressing was amazing, and that's saying a lot, especially considering a 30 minute drive home &reheating. Moist, meaty, seasoned, and filling. My Husband ordered the chicken fried steak with the gravy in the side and it reheated perfectly in our air fryer. His only complaint was that the steak was too small. Two thumbs up. read more

I'm not exactly sure what the online hype is all about. I love independent local cafe's like this. Came here for a needed burger and it was way over done. I could've used it as a skipping rock for about 8 skips in a pond. Aside from the sub-par food, I have to commend the staff and coolness of the spot. Great service with a smile and cool venue. I've been a regular customer at Norma's for many years. I was very disappointed in my last visit. I understand things have changed since the pandemic but I can not think of an excuse for the way my visit went. It was not packed, there was many employees. I spent over 3 hours in total! I first arrived and was asked to add my name and cell number to a list. I was told it was max 30minutes. Cool, I went outside and waited. 40 minutes later and I haven't received a message or call. I go inside and there's no one in the front. I wait a moment when a couple comes in and asks to sit. A worker passing by tells them to pick any table and have a seat. UNACCEPTABLE!!! I spoke up and said something, the worker said I just got here but it's empty so grab any table. Smh!! I was very upset. I waited for nothing, a total waste of my time. I stayed because the food is good and may be worth my troubles. I ordered a coffee and a Country Breakfast with Chicken Fried Chicken. I was disgusted when my coffee cup looked like this(see picture) my cup was not completely washed as it has a lipstick stain. SMH!! Very disappointing experience. Please get it together Norma's Cafe! Apparently I forgot to review Norma's when we went a couple months ago. It was pretty decent, middle of the road diner breakfast food. Good prices, big portions. I don't think the food was fabulous (I've definitely had both better and worse french toast) but it was decent. Not a "destination" but a decent option for those in the neighborhood. I LOVE NORMAS CAFE!!!! We walked in and it's a little diner with small tables. So table of 4 is tight. We had this wonderful lady walking up to our table with the biggest smile of sunshine! She could make any grumpy butt smile! Best waitress but I don't remember her name but I'm going back to find her! She was wonderful! We went for breakfast and we ordered French toast, chicken fried steak and steak and eggs. All incredible!!!! They have like 4 different gravy's to offer with your meal too! My grandmother and I visited the original Norma's in W. Oak Cliff yesterday afternoon, and I can honestly say it's one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. While it doesn't boast a modern or extensive menu, Norma's Cafe does serve high quality food for a very low price. It was my first visit, but as this place has been in operation since the 50s (a fact that is well-advertised inside and out), my grandmother has visited it several times. It has a fifties vibe, complete with oldies playing over the PA system, old-style counter and stools, a checkered linoleum floor, and red leather booths. Our food was great. They give you more than your fair share of food, and considering that your meal won't cost more than $7-8, that is beyond reasonable for what you get. The complimentary bread basket consists of amazing homemade rolls and cornbread muffins, and they are the best you will ever eat. We were too stuffed to try the pie, but the next time we visit (which will be soon!) we definitely will. The service was great, albeit a little slow, but it was the lunch hour on a Wednesday, after all. Something that irked me just a bit was the pushiness of a certain waitress, who rather obnoxiously asked us to fill out post cards for the troops. It was something we didn't mind doing at all, but I would have preferred if she had given us the option of saying we wanted to participate rather than making it seem as though we had an obligation to do so. She she shoved the cards and a pen into our hands, and walked away. Maybe she was nervous about the whole thing, but I wish it had been handled differently. Other than that, it was a great experience, and I hope to go again soon. read more

I tried to reach you by selecting the Contact Us on your website but when trying to send it failed saying Chaptca was wrong. So I will post it here. I ordered 3 Blue Plate meals and 1 normal plate to go earlier today from Frisco. The store was not busy. I was purchasing meals for my ill neighbors as well as myself. Upon arriving home here in Cross Roads, two of the BPS meals did not have their 3rd vegetable in the bag. I know, it is trivial in scope. I heated up a can of green beans I had and provided with the meals because the 45 minute drive each way was not worth it to return to the store. But why can the people not take the time to check off the order, line by line, to ensure completeness and quantities are correct? Maybe give them a #2 pencil and tell them when they put something in the bag to put a little check mark or cross out the item on the order receipt until everything is marked out or has a checkmark by it??? This irritates the heck out of me. And worse yet I tipped for this lack of service. I guess going forward we will, together, have to take everything out of the bag on the counter by the register and go one by one through all of the items, irregardless of impact on counter operations. Not sure how else to ensure I get what I paid for. I know good help is hard to find these days but if this is the case, maybe the manager can validate every order until things improve. Sadly, the food is always great, but if you do not get it, it doesn't mean much. Frustrating. Lowers your value to your clients. read more

I have to say this place was amazing. I called to see if they sat tables of 8 together and they said it would be hard. But they saw that a table may become available in 10mins and possibly could get us together. I told her we would be there by then. So we started heading over there, when we got there bc we were driving in separate vehicles, started waiting for the rest. To my surprise the lady that i spoke calls me and asked "if we were still coming". I said, yes but we were waiting for the rest, she said not to worry and come right in because our table was ready!!! At this point they had 5 stars in my book. (If I could add more I would) Our server, Gizmo, was on top of it as well!! I LOVE NORMA'S!! My family and I were visiting Dallas when we were on vacation and we heard Norma's had great food. So we went and it was the cutest little old-fashioned diner I had ever seen! I love me some Norma's Cafe. We went on a Saturday around lunch time and the place was still busy. I like to sit on the bar area and chat with waiters and staff. We sat at the bar in front of the food window and looked at all the tasty plates come out. I went with the patty melt on rye and loaded with onions and ordered tater tots. This melt was so delicious and cooked so well. The patties were cooked and seasoned well. My wife ordered the crispy chicken BLT. Which was also just as delicious. The chicken was fresh and breaded well. Anyone considering Norma's Cafe as a choice I suggest you go and try it. The atmosphere is great and the staff are warm and welcoming. read more

Simple home style food. Love that they have special menu items everyday of the week. I hate that Special Menu does not have special prices. Like the SMOTHER STEAK (Salisbury) on Monday ( I Think), but you can't get Okra &Tomatoes. He lives alone & does cook, so sometimes he goes 2-4 times. We have been eating there for over 20 years. I don't like to go to Norma's orn a holiday's (both American & Mexico's); when the run promo's; special church days and whenever families and church--Norma's have high people traffic hours. Most items are priced reasonably. The staff is okay, some could nicer; they truly get the job done. With the sometimes high traffic, there job is difficult. Management is cordial and the will walk the floor, grab an order from waiting customer, put order I kitchen and make sure everyone is happy. read more
