With the advent of Yelp, folks can usually save themselves from places like this. Unfortunately, Farmers Market was so crowded yesterday, I could not get a decent enough signal to check the ratings of the eateries here. We grabbed a beer from the bar next door and sat at a table to watch the soccer match. We were hungry and the place was packed, so it was strange to see no lines at both the gumbo place and at Charlie's. Not a good sign. I took a chance and ordered a cheesesteak. $18 for a crappy sandwich. It was supposed to have onions and peppers but they were undetectable. The meat and bread were ok but it was a waste of money. read more

The burger was fresh to order and tasted so good. My daughter and I split one not knowing it would taste so good. We honestly should have bought separate meals. The fries were great and fresh also. The folks at the counter were nice. I ordered a chicken philly cheese steak and it was bad. The chicken was cooked before it was completely thawed and had that rubber texture to it. Not only that the serving size was laughable - it was 3 parts roll to 1 part filling. Barely any chicken and and ass soon they served it I regretted ordering there. It's the grove so the high prices are to be expected but otherwise there's way better places to eat there and I would avoid Charlie's entirely. read more

Among my favorite places to eat when I go to The Grove is the farmers market. The hardest part is deciding but since I wanted breakfast Charlie's is it. My daughter order the waffles which was slightly crispy and topped with bananas and whipped cream, so good. I ordered the breakfast burrito #1 and it was good but it had too much salsa inside so it was a little too drippy. Next time I'll make sure to have the salsa on the side, or maybe I'll try the burrito #2 and try something new. And the staff were all really nice and friendly and it's definitely a nice change from the pretentious grove, sorry not sorry. read more

The food was 'fine' . The wait was absurd. 2 eggs with toast , hash browns and sausage. 40 minutes. I have never waited that long for any food at farmers market, including Marcels. 22 dollars including tip. I could not tell you what the tip was for. Crazy pricing. Same about as Dupar's, which is objectively better, and has homemade jam. They were really not that busy up front at all. Owner or manager told me the wait was normal because they were "busy"(she was very crabby as well) . At least 3 people were not doing Jack for most of the time I waited. Standing around. They have 1 small grill . That was the holdup. Not much expediting . For almost the same meal, go to the other side of the market, go to Phil's. Pay about 6 dollars less. Get your food, sit by Charlie's and commiserate with all the hungry people. read more

First time here. The cost was rather high for a sandwich, fries, and a drink and we may or may not come back. The sandwich though was rather good. It was well seasoned and not dry at all. The service was decent given they made everything right there. The area has a lot of other places to eat so it might be difficult to find a place to sit if you eat here during busy hours. read more

Sadly the boss Charlie is no longer on this plane of existence and the daughter hasn't really held up the legacy too well. The "all day breakfast" sign caught our attention. Order and pay at the counter, then find one of the open tables nearby and wait for them to call your name. Went for brunch and had corned beef hash with 2 eggs and choice of toast (chose sourdough), with an additional side of hash browns. Also had a lemonade and bottle of water. Taste was fine -- the hash browns especially stood out for the crispy edges and softer inside shreds of potato. Service was not particularly speedy, but it wasn't outlandishly slow and it was fine since we weren't in a rush. Taking off a point because it seemed pricey on the whole ($38.43), but overall a decent experience on a weekday late-morning, the best time to come since it's not crowded then. read more

What I noticed. One they handle the cash register and they go back to cooking food and no gloves. Second they don't give a detailed receipt to see if they charged correctly but also they hide the fact that they charge a 3% fee if you pay with a credit card. This place was a nice find in the middle of all the many shops and restaurants you can choose from at the Farmer's Market. We had breakfast here and it was so good. We had the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs, which came with toast. The meat was mouthwatering and the eggs were just right. Ketchup and sauce most definitely added a constant kick as the contents of the dish diminished. The toast was crispy and held its own as I mixed each bite with the other contents. This savory combination was magical. Another dish we ordered was the Waffle with Mixed Fruit. The fruits included bananas, strawberries, kiwis, blackberries, and mangos. There was so much flavor in each bite especially since the waffle was doused with breakfast syrup. There were plenty of options to choose from as far as toppings go, but we are glad we went this route on this day. read more

The lady owner is super cool and sweet and that made me want to try this place more despite the 3.5 star rating. I ordered the steak sandwich and fries. It came on a French roll. Everything tasted pretty good. I got ranch and spicy sauce for my fries and they go pretty well together the ranch and the spicy sauce. Overall: 3.5 stars for the food and 5 stars for the attentive service. The lady kept stopping by to let me know how much longer and kept me company while she prepped. I liked her.
