Norms bigger better breakfast is great. We love the pancakes at norms as they are the best in town.

I don't normally review nonunion national chains, but I think Norms is a local chain (I've reviewed plenty of Bay Area local chains), and this place doesn't feel like a chain. OK, it actually feels pretty similar to other Normses, which makes sense chain-wise, but they don't feel similar like they're trying to feel similar. Wow, I just need to stop writing. Norms never closes. That's really a good thing, because there are very few Whittier options that can make this claim. It's your basic diner food with breakfast all day. They have good desserts, and I've never had a problem with service here even though I've been when it's crowded on a Saturday night. I've also been one of many teenagers at the same table and have still never had a problem with the service. read more

The one thing I love about Norms in Whittier is that it is always OPEN!!! Everything in Whittier closes so early and this is one of the few places that actually stays open all the time. It's a good option for late night grubbing and gathering with my friends. I love their dinner specials (although I think you can order it anytime). They always have steak dinners that come with soup and salad for $9.99. Lots of food and it's all really decent. Nothing outstanding, but nothing bad. It's filling and sometimes really good. I would say, overall, the food is better here then at IHOP and Dennys. Feels slightly less commercialized. Like there is more of a homemade touch to it. Menu is really extensive and is your usual American diner fare. Look at the ceiling. They will usually have posters hanging of advertising their specials. They'll have regular themed specials too. Last time I went they had a baby back rib promotion. The restaurant is spacious and clean. Service is overall pretty efficient. Lots of seating. Huge booths for families and this place gets packed regularly on the weekends. Which is probably an indication of it's popularity with the Whittier folks! read more

We dine at this Norm's at least 2 or 3 times a month. Today, we had breakfast, my favorite meal of the day. I had the Louisiana hot link skillet, Although the links were not very hot, the dish was very good, hot cakes included, which are always very good. The waitresses are all nice. Lori is a special lady, always happy and good natured. We absolutely enjoy this family restaurant. You will not find a better place to eat in Whittier for the price and quality. read more

my go to late night or sunday am meal with the family. norms is always in my eyes the next step up from denny's. although this norm's is not the most up to date, the staff is always very helpful and the neighborhood isn't bad at all. parking may be tough on weekends, but there is nearby parking. regardless, food is always decent, coffee is always warm, and you always know what you are getting. read more

This place is great if you want some seriously fried gorging food. But I went there reluctantly with honey and tried to have something healthy. I ordered the salmon salmon salad and it was death. It looked good tasted good and the next morning at 4am I was hugging the porcelain bowl. I was so sick and was forced to seek medical attention. Me and my wife go here usually late nights and sometimes early mornings after shopping or just to get away for a bit. Food is pretty good, love the bigger better breakfast and the salads are simple and refreshing. But the service NEEDS to improve. Its like you only get seen twice; once when they ask "What would you like to drink" and then when they give you your food. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but after a lackluster dinner run and a downright awful breakfast, it's hard to recommend. Yes, we went to breakfast on a Saturday morning and it was packed. I figured breakfast is just simple, eggs and pancakes what could go wrong? Everything tasted like it had been sitting out for 30 min. The pancakes were chalky and the bacon was kinda scary. On 10/17/15 my family and I (party of 9) were told there was a wait of 25 minutes. We thought it was reasonable being that it wasn't packed and we were such a big group. Well 30 minutes pass, then 40, 50, we went and asked what was the back up. We were told that the hostess had seated another party that was there after us 1st. But that they were clearing the tables for us. Another 15 minutes passed and nothing. So we decided to leave as they see us leave they tell us that they're wiping down our table it would be a few more minutes. At this point we had already waited we have waited for well pass an hour. Needless to say we left, ate at the wood grill in norwalk no wait and great service, not to mention their food. They got their review too. The point is. Come on if we would have been told it would have been an hour wait, as opose to a 25 minute wait to begin with we would have understood, but Norms you dropped the ball. Worse part is that we had spoken to the Manager and all he did was scold the hostess and never fixed the issue. read more

First tip at eating at eating at this restaurant: Do not sit at the counter... EVER. The waitress who served me and my gf immediately looked at us like some newly found stepchildren who will burden her for the rest of her morning.. I mean seriously you ignored me for the whole meal practically, and to make things worse the younger girl who picked up the slack for you picked up your bad attitude as well. I could tell when she dropped off my late waffles with a scoff.. CMON SERIOUSLY??!! The only reason this place got a two from me is because of the excellent food. Food was great, but our server never asked how we wanted our check. We needed a total of 3 checks that all had different items on it. We go to the cashier and tell her we need the check separated and ALL shit went wild. The worker was impatient and very rude. I told her she needed to calm down and she just hands our check to another server and walks away.. then comes back all rude asking who is next and my brother said he was with his receipt in his hand. She SNATCHED his receipt and I guess didnt realize it and was just talking shit under her breath. I proceeded to tell her there is no need to be as upset as she was.. she pulls her mask down with aggression and tells me with a rude face "I'm not mad" I love Norms for their food!! But this horrible attitude at the end of our service was uncalled for. why be mad at your customer when clearly it's a learning opportunity for your servers and cashiers? So disappointed by the service! Chris was our waitress and was rude and super super slow! I had my head down and she brought the food to our table and I feel a hot plate above my head and after my head touches the plate I realize she pasted the platter of chicken tenders over my head and didn't even say sorry! TODAY, NORMS LOST A REGULAR FAMILY OF 6!!!The food and the service was by far the worst experience we've ever had!!!!! 5 of our 6 orders were wrong. 2 egg dishes came out extremely undercooked (runny omelets), hash browns were burned, steaks came out raw and grey in color,(looked like they were steamed instead of grilled).In an attempt to have them corrected, things only got worse!!! The remaining food came out cold, I had to get up from my table twice to get condiments we asked and waited for. Another time to have our beverages refilled. To top it all of there was no sense of urgency when asked to fix the orders, only attitude. WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING!!! How would you recommend proceeding to fix this situation? Very bad experience! Ordered something and they were very unorganized. I know we are in pandemic but don't have people come in 20 minutes later if your just going to wait in line as of you never made the order. Manager was very rude as well he can't handle more than 1 person at a time. He was frustrated and not very good in dealing with stress. read more

During the pandemic , we've been ordering in more frequently. Both my husband and I agree that breakfast from Norms was one of best. The food was good, but what put it over the top was the presentation. The pancakes were nicely separated from the eggs, and the containers were microwave- friendly, plus they were functional and good enough to eat out of. No dishes to wash! Here's another Denny's competitor that blows Denny's out of the water because it's also open 24 hours, the portions are huge, and with their dinner meals, you get soup plus salad plus cheese bread like Sizzler's, all for the same price that Denny's charges for their dinner meals, but Denny's gives less food. Last year, or maybe it was a couple of years ago, my body building friend promoted an eating contest between two other friends and made me the official referee. I couldn't believe how much food these two guys could put away. It just goes to show that you don't have to be a fat guy to have a big appetite. Look at that Japanese guy who always wins the Nathan's hot dog eating competition every year for the past few years. This place feels like a Denny's but is just way better. At first we thought the cheese bread was unlimited, but maybe it was that one time when the old lady waitress liked him or was feeling generous that day, because the next time, she said she would have to sneak it to us or charge us if the manager noticed. Or maybe that was her way of making us slow down on the cheese bread but still save her tips. Either way, the service is just as good as Denny's, if not better. read more
