Today September 18, 2025, my husband & I went to have lunch. We both had burgers & they were Delicious! Our Server whom we've seen at Norms before , her name is Kristina. We need more Kristina's in this world. She is super nice, attentive, happy & I love how she says bye to every patrons leaving the restaurant even though she wasn't their server & she tells them, "see you tomorrow". Kristina is so professional, her appearance is great!! She represents the restaurant with her hair clips, earrings, pen she writes with & her pins on her work shirt. I frequent Norms on Sherman Way. The food is good. Definitely worth the price. I must take a moment to commend the server Juan. He qalways greets every customers as they walk in. Dinner with my girlfriends. We were seated right away upon arriving. The restaurant wasn't that busy. It has been a while since the last time we were together for breakfast or dinner. We decided to go here for the $5.99 menu. But what a disappointment though. They didn't have the Ribs. According to our server Serena, it is popular so it gets finished fast. Since we are already here, we opted to other dishes from the $5.99 Menu and the 4 course meal. Starts at $12.99. Food: All recommended Chicken Tenders $5.99 Garlic Parmesan Fettuccine Alfredo $5.99 Fish and Chips (4 course meal) $12.99 Our orders came out fast which is good because we were all starving. I was happy with my Chicken Tenders. Piping hot, tasty and delicious. As well as the fries. I finished it in no time. I can tell my friends liked their food too. They devoured it except a piece of fish. My friend had too much so she can't finish them. We shared the strawberry shortcake - part of the 4 course meal. It was okay. Every year my sister comes to visit from Minnesota. Our first stop after picking her up at LAX is Norm's Van Nuys. It's a family tradition between the two of us. When we got there, we were warmly greeted by Kristina, one of the servers. She was WONDERFUL and made our time there so fun and spectacular!!! She was so helpful in helping us decide what to get and kept my drink refills coming!! We stayed there 4 hours chatting and she made the whole day bright!! The food was tasty, Kristina's service was impeccabIe. I highly recommend Norm's Van Nuys for anyone looking for a restaurant to call home. I give them 5 stars!! read more

I like that they stay open late, but the food isn't really different from Denny's. It feels kind of greasy and the atmosphere isn't great either. The place seems to do well, but honestly the food is just like a regular American diner. The service was just so-so. read more

Norms seems to be thing of nostalgia for most folks. The idea of it. The look of it. The prices. I've been going to various Norms since I was sixteen and let me tell you that was not recently, oh no, that was not recently. The was back in the mid-1960s is when that was. The food was always "okay." It was cheap and if one was in college you couldn't do better than Norms for cheap. I haven't been in years because the food is just "okay." I always want it to be better, but it just isn't, even when they opened the failed Norms near Encino. Anyway, let's get to it. I may pay a visit to this one - might be better in person. As it is, I had a hankerin' for a patty melt and I figured that would be a good Norms thing to order, so I did via DoorDash. I'll just say, it doesn't travel well. It was okay but it would have been better freshly served in person. So, bottom line is go there - don't DoorDash it. That's the bottom line. Actually, it literally IS the bottom line of this review. Love the service we get at the counter. Maria is amazing. She takes great care of my two girls and I. For some reason people don't like the counter, so we always just walk in and sit down. Otherwise, this place can be crowded with a wait. It's not too noisy, so you can still have a conversation while eating. Food is good, just what you would expect from a diner. I like the vegetarian omelette or the tuna melt. The hash browns, fries, and onion rings are all tasty. My daughters like the steaks and hamburgers. read more

First time here to try the $7 menu. Lot of parking but kind of tight and needs to be repaved. What can I say, I am a fan of diners with breakfast anytime lol. I ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs, bread and hashbrowns. Its a lot! Chicken fried steak was fine but the sauce was a bit pasty. Hashbrowns were a little dry but ok. Our server was nice. Normally I love Norms. This location SUCKS. The manager that was working 3-23-25 at 11pm also SUCKS. You all better watch how you order your food! The server screwed up my friends order and they were asses about it and to make things worse, they charged her as separate items instead of as one of their MANY combos. Every diner I have ever been to, when it comes to figuring out what I wanted has always help to point out which combo would be best. Not this guy. When it was pointed out to them they played stupid and instead of doing the right thing they stuck to their guns. Well guess what, I will be happy to tell every single person I know NOT to come here and I'm going to try to contact corporate right after this.
