I've dined at various times over the years at a few of the Norm's restaurants. This one has a great, old school diner ambiance. The menu is diverse. My visits are usually very early AM so I'm a breakfast dude here. A good selection of omelettes, various egg dishes, waffles and French toast. I love their pancakes with an egg scramble with cheese, bacon, salsa and green onion. The service is always very good here as is the food which is reasonably priced for the quality. Norm's is open 24 hours and I love that it's always available when I'm hungry in the AM. Norm's never disappoints. read more

My friends and I took my mom out to her favorite place, Norms for her 82nd Birthday this Friday the 26th. It also happened to be National Pancake Day where for 99 cents you can get pancakes for dine-in or take out. Pancakes at Norms are my mom's favorite. We all ordered pancakes to take home!!!! The food and service was excellent!! We ordered appetizer sample plate, club sandwich, fish and chips, chicken fettuccine Alfredo, porter house steak with eggs, t-bone steak with eggs (both with hash browns and pancakes), tres leches for mom and we also shared the large sundae. Watermelon lemonade with Boba was a hit as well as strawberry milkshake. The corn bread was great, too. I've been eating at Norm's since I was a young kid and that's a lot of years. The food is so affordable and bountiful. My friend and I had such an excellent waitress. Kristina recommended a breakfast sandwich for my friend. He mentioned that there was one he used to enjoy at Denny's and she knew right away what would be comparable to order. My friend said it was even better than the one he used to have at Denny's restaurants! Our waitress, Kristina was incredibly helpful. My wife and I went to Norms for dinner last night, 5/3/26. The hostess took my name and we got seated in no time. Jorge, our server, graciously greeted us immediately and took our drink order and delivered our beverages in no time. He took our food order right away and we got our food in about 15-20 minutes . My wife ordered the club sandwich without bacon with onion rings and I ordered the habanero bacon cheeseburger without bacon with fries. Everything appeared to be in order in the beginning however after I took the second bite from my burger I noticed that the cook had forgotten to add the batter-fried jalapeno, however the burger was topped with the blister fried jalapeno. I didn't complain about it with our server because usually complaints conveyed from servers to cooks usually get neglected and the cooks will keep doing the same mistakes over and over, so I decided to do a review about the kitchen staff and perhaps the district manager will direct the chef in charge to properly evaluate the cooks on their knowledge about their entrees ingredients and how to properly prepare them. New Year's Day we headed to Norm's wife kids and our food was just horrible. My breakfast was disgusting. I couldn't even finish it, and I was really hungry, but it was just horrible. The bacon was poor quality, all fat, and it was burnt hashbrowns were cooked poorly. My eggs were all oily. It was just the worst breakfast I had ever had. None of our food was any good. My daughters was really bad too and our pancakes yeah we got our pancakes after about half hour later after we finished all our food we had to wait for our pancakes. Our poor waitress was embarrassed. she was a nice gal. It was New Year's Day so I gave her a good tip. It wasn't her fault. She asked me if I wanted to talk to the manager and I didn't wanna get into it, but it was very obvious that the cooks could care less. If you want a hearty meal at a reasonable price, I strongly recommend Norms Restaurant. I recently went ti the Van Nuys location and I especially appreciated our server, Kristina. She was super friendly and efficient. She would constantly check on our table to see if we needed refils or any other item. This location is usually packed but not that day. I think that the reason it was not busy was due to the 3 World Cup soccer games that day. We actually would have stayed home ourselves but we were celebrating an Uncle's birthday that day at Norm's. We did suggest to the server that they would have probably had more clients that day if they would have a TV or two in the main seating area. It was just a suggestion. I was a bit disappointed that the value combos were not being sold during the weekend but only during the week. Please bring back this value combos 7 days a week. There was a part that was tender, but it was about 20% of the entire steak. String beans also didn't taste so good. Waiter was very nice. Comfortable inside. It's been awhile since I've come in, but after a night in Hollywood, we get ahankerin' for Norms' comfort food! Even on a Monday a 10:30 this location is hopping! We had a less than 5 min wait before Jordan seated us and gave us menus. He gave us a moment to look them over, get my necessary pics(lol) then took our order. Boy was he running around! Food arrived in less than 15mins and was delicious. My $15 Classic Bigger, Better Breakfast offered 2 bacon, 2 sausage, a slice of ham, 2 eggs, hash browns and 2 pancakes. I subbed 4 bacon for the sausage and French fries for the hash browns. It was a LOT of tasty, greasy piggy - YUM! The eggs were cooked perfectly and the pancakes fluffy and traditionally delicious Norms. Hubs went for the $14.50 Classic 1/2lb Dbl Cheeseburger w/ 2 strips of bacon, which included his fries(or a choice of onion rings, Tater Tots, or fresh fruit). He also got a chocolate shake. At Norms they serve your shake along with the metal shake blender cup with the extra they couldn't fill into the tall ice cream shake glass, just like malt shops use to do! So their $6 shakes are more the size of 2 shakes at other restaurants. Jordan was quick to spot my request for a hot chocolate refill - ohhhh yeaaaah, they bring FREE refills on hot chocolate! - and before we had got the seats warm, our meals were done. I guess we didn't realize just how hungry we were! Despite it being quite busy, a group of servers took a moment to sing Happy Birthday to a guest at another table. Noice! This casual, family friendly restaurants attracts all kinds of nice people and the staff are quite pleasant as well. Everything went well here. An amazing budget meal. Grilled trout filled, coleslaw, fries and an Arnold Palmer. All for $12.00. The Trout arrived hot with the perfect texture. Tasted buttery and went well paired with the herbal tartar sauce. Coleslaw was all fresh and crisp cabbage. Fries were great too. What made things extra special was our server Kristina. I visited the Norms in Van Nuys on 9/4/25 around 1:45 pm. When I checked in, I asked for a table for one and mentioned that I'd like to sit near an outlet so I could do some work. The host told me to have a seat and that they would accommodate me shortly. After waiting about 15-20 minutes, my name was called and I was seated. Once at the table, I asked the waitress where I could plug in my electronics and said I'd be placing an order. She told me there were no outlets available anywhere in the restaurant. I explained that I had asked about this when I first arrived, so it would have been better to tell me upfront instead of having me wait that long. This was my first horrible experience at this location, and I ended up leaving disappointed. I will update my review once I stop by another day to see if things go differently. read more
