My wife and I went to North Italia for our valentines date. We've been to this location multiple times, and have always enjoyed. The kitchen staff is first class. We got the 'Grilled Bread & Good Olive Oil', ' Seasoned Vegetable Salad', Seasonal Anolini', & the 'Tuscan Half Chicken'. The food was all top notch! The bread was a little too crisp for my liking, but my wife said she really enjoyed it. To drink we enjoyed the 'Veni Vidi Vici', 'Chiaretto', 'Roman Holiday' & the 'Golden Fig Old Fashioned'. First off, happy hour is a scam and doesn't apply to the entire restaurant. They only let you sit at the bar or high tops, what if you are handicapped? Happy hour doesn't apply to those sitting outside or inside in the other half of the restaurant but if you do sit on the other side of the restaurant you sure have to deal with the noise of it. Why wouldn't you be able to have happy hour at any table/seat in a restaurant that does happy hour prices? It hurts business, customers & servers because they could be making more on tips. The food is generally very good but when you're paying $22+ for a small plate or bowl of pasta with no protein it's hard to justify the cost. I am never blown away by their menu & to me there is nothing memorable on their menu that I would crave or have to go back for. They could do so much better on so many fronts. read more

I've lived near 3 different locations. They all steadily decrease in quality after opening. The first few months the bolognese is outstanding, then it slowly changes. Today I ordered a salad no cheese, and it came with no dressing. 3 minutes later the entree bolognese came( no time to eat salad)It was not hot when it arrived. After they gave me a hot one, it just had no flavor. Tastes like over cooked pasta and basic tomato sauce. This is the signature dish here. Done right it's fantastic, but it's hard to do it right( tons of ingredients and 8 hours) and that means inconsistency with this concept in my experience. The building and bar is great and it's a fun place to go, and other dishes I've had are good. But I'd come all the time if the bolognese was better. This restaurant ruined my Christmas Eve, I set at the bar with friends and ordered a cocktail. Knowing the law under Tennessee, I was refused to be served because I did not have my ID with me, my holiday dress did not have pockets. I have a daughter that is 37 years old. In Tennessee, there are different laws regarding asking for ID when purchasing alcohol, depending on the type of establishment and where the alcohol is being consumed: Off-premises: Retailers must check ID for anyone who doesn't appear to be at least 50 years old before selling alcohol for off-premises consumption. Acceptable forms of ID include a driver's license or other government-issued ID with a photo and birth date. Selling alcohol to a minor or failing to check ID is a Class A misdemeanor. So far, this has been the best Italian food in Franklin. I haven't been to them all, but this blows the rest away that I have been to. The location is kinda...meh. Lots of development around and it's tight. However, they really made the most of it because the ambiance is fantastic, both inside and outside. Friendly, professional staff, and the prices are quite reasonable. However the show stopper is the food, no doubt about it. Walked in right at 5pm on a Friday night for a table of 2 and were seated. Right after we got there it became really busy. We loved our bread appetizer and my Chianti was really good. We opted for the traditional dishes of spaghetti and meatballs and the bolognese. Both were excellent. We added in a side of the spicy broccolini and I wouldn't order it again. This is a fun location, very hip clean fresh atmosphere. I tried the grilled bread which is ok not very impressive. I ordered the branzino fish with root vegetables and it was fantastic! I had a side of sweet potato with polenta and it was mouthwatering delicious!! We also had the bolognese pasta which was wonderful and we ate every last bite! It was our first time on this town and we wanted to have a good dinner but it didn't happened. To start we were not expecting unforgettable Italian food because its a food chain, but at least we were expecting bread that was edible not burned out, and tasty warm pasta and both meals came out cold, What were we supposed to do send the food back so they microwave it?? Already disappointed wanted to order a dessert to try to end the night on a positive note and the chocolate cake had a nice presentation but it tasted like cough medicine. I really wanted to like this place due to it being close by. Unfortunately, I was not blown away by any aspect of the place. Everything seemed to be mediocre, but with the price point of a place slightly above average. For appetizers we tried the grilled bread and eggplant parm. The bread was ok, but seemed a bit odd to pay $7 for a very small bowl of bread. The eggplant was probably the best thing we had there, but not a whole lot if wanting to share with more than 2 people. Dinner was the strozzapretti and bolognese. The bolognese is their house specialty, but didn't have a ton of flavor, in my opinion. Our waitress was nice enough, but seemed a little bit "out to lunch" the entire time. Maybe it had just been a long day, but she kept forgetting to bring items to the table or when we missed items altogether. Overall, this won't be my new favorite restaurant or even somewhere I will come very frequently. If I am in the area and MUST have some kind of pasta I will at least throw it in the running as an option. read more

We recently dined here with friends. It can be very difficult to get in, reservations are a must. There is ample parking in a garage a few steps away. On a gorgeous day one can opt for outside seating. We started with wine and a martini, all were good. Then salads, also good and very large. At our table we had bolognese, chicken pesto and spaghetti with meatballs. Everyone raved about the food. The service was painfully slow, however. This rating is based on our experience last night. Previous visits were better. Our big problem was that we arrived at 6PM. We ordered our meals at about 6:15 and did not receive our food to almost 7:15. They kept saying our food was coming but with no real excuse. People who were seated later got their food before we received ours. To their credit we got a discount off our dinner and a free dessert. We ordered the Calamari, roasted salmon and ricotta cavatelli. All tasted great, except the salmon which was a notch below our previous experience. The white truffle garlic bread is a must-have to start your meal. Level it up BIG TIME with a side of spicy vodka sauce for dipping (special thanks to our server for recommending). The seasonal vegetable salad was also a major highlight. As a person who loves veggies but not necessarily a "salad person" this was super hearty and had a gourmet feel to it. Service was top notch. Thanks to my fellow yelpers this restaurant was selected through my Yelp app research. Parking garage (free) right next door. Hopping place. A slight wait but much shorter than what we were told. I wish gluten free or optional gluten free was clearly depicted on the menu which would have alleviated many of my questions and the server having to come up and back to the table. He was very helpful but this could have been easier. I did select the house specialty of pasta bolognese which was phenomenal. The sauce was exceptional. The service was good, friendly and gave me a good recommendation on a drink (the vidi vini vici, delicious!) but never offered dessert. Came here around 2pm after watching a movie. This place is very relaxing, open and clean. We especially like the PROSCIUTTO pizza. The crust is thin, soft and tasty with fig jam (?), many mission fig pieces and goat cheese. The server was very nice and sweet. We will come back! read more

Newly opened location in Franklin, service was okay but the food was great! They were very busy for a weekday lunch. We stopped by to grab a quick lunch at 12pm and was quoted a 20 min wait time and weren't seated until 30 mins. There were lots of tables open, but probably due to limited capacity they weren't able to seat any additional people. We had to scarf down our meal and then take part of it to go because it took so long to get our food. Food Absolutely get the truffle garlic bread and split it with the table, delicious and amazing! Salad, Chicken Parmesan, sandwich were great. I'll be back for dinner to try the pizza and pasta. Service The host was rude and need better customer service training. Our server didn't bother to give us small plates for the appetizer, so we were awkwardly dropping crumbs all over the table. I asked for no cheese and there was still cheese on the salad... We were big fans of this place but the past few times we have run into poor service and attention to detail by the staff. We had Mychal this past time and he fell extremely short of being a good waiter. We found ourselves several times waiting for him. For drinks, to order food, for a water refill, for the dessert we ordered, for the check. We had appetizer plates stacked up well into our main course. I was noticing his other tables going through the same problems. Trying to locate him. A couple times I looked back to the kitchen and he was dancing and shooting the sh** with other servers. It wasn't even busy during this time, and I saw the tables he was serving, there were not many. He just seemed unenthusiastic to be there or to serve. Maybe just a bad day, but it made for a pretty crappy experience for my daughter's birthday. Our food came out cold, the cheese on my pizza was already thick and it was obvious it had been sitting for a while. The ladies next to us were against the window and were getting barraged by flies. They eventually had to ask to be seated elsewhere because the food and drink constantly had flies on them. Here's an idea how about shutting the door to the outside patio. It may not stop all the flies but at least it would limit some. I think it is time for the managers to reevaluate their restaurant. The only reason it got a 3 star is because I have been at this restaurant when the service and effort is great. But if you are going to serve regular Italian food at an elevated price, make sure the service and atmosphere is top notch. Clean it up. read more

North Italia is in a trendy & convenient location, which at first made me think the food would not be as delicious... I was wrong. I am currently Keto so going to Italian was a tough sell but I was able to alter the sides easily to fit my needs and the menu provides lots of options.
